But there are great stores and restaurants nearby for convenience. We stayed here 5 days September. We were in the pull-thrus right across from the lake. The lake is pretty with many water birds. They allow catch and release fishing and kayaking. There is a sign that there may be alligators but we didn't see any. The site was long enough for our 32 ft travel trailer and pickup to be in. We had full hookups that were in good condition. There was a picnic table and grass on the door side and a beautiful palm tree on the driver's side. It was a nice area to put chairs and enjoy the lake or there were benches to sit and relax. There was a pool and other amenities that we did not try but looked nice. It will be fun going back when I can use these things! Office staff was friendly and helpful. They take Passport America at least in summer. I definitely recommend Pleasant Lake RV Resort!! Had socially distanced activities and most everyone using masks. Such a pretty resort and had only bikes for transportation and close to stores, restaurants and CVS. A lot of people said they start with RV's and soon look for mobile homes as permanent residents. Will love to return! Great having the fruit and veg truck deliver on Fridays.

We travel often for competitions and this by far has been the best place we've stayed at in Southern Florida. The community is well maintained as were the amenities. Having a cottage versus a hotel room was the best. The one bedroom was perfect for us (2 adults + toddler). Stores are close and convenient....and the best thing. NO DIRTY CLOTHES to bring home. There is a washer and dryer in the cottage as well. Love this property and so grateful we found it. Will highly recommend anyone book here as well we are already looking forward to a return trip.

Arbor Terrace claims they can accommodate 45' RVs, but it is simply just TOO tight, with unlevel lots you'll sink in. Go elsewhere! Campground employees asked us to move TWICE during our six-day stay... It was hard enough getting into the one spot we were already in, but the space they wanted us to move to was even tighter! We had to refuse moving, because we just would not have fit & would've hung up our rig. Next door neighbor told us big RVs get stuck in the lots fairly often here. It's a really nice park, overall: clean, quiet, friendly... but the infrastructure fits smaller sized campers, best.

The beachfront walking trail and the story of deSoto's history from Spain described in full detail... I was not excited to hear how some of the horses had to be killed and eaten for survival purposes ... But back in the day, almost 500 years ago, I guess emergency survival food and water kits weren't readily available. Good idea to keep in your car, along with some TP. I would love to kayak around here. The water and the view were beautiful! There is a long route and a short route for walking, you also will learn about the different types of mangroves and other Florida native plants/trees. Definitely worth another visit, hopefully when the museum is open again, but my understanding is there's no one even answering the phones (even at the number on the sandwich board as you enter the park) so you'll never know when they will reopen.

The Spanish explorer De Soto landed near Tampa Bay in 1539 hoping to find gold, bring religion to the indigenous Americans and claim land for Spain. De Soto died from disease in 1542 never having found the gold he was seeking. The survivors of his expedition eventually reached the Mississippi river and set sail for the Caribbean in 1543. This National Monument is dedicated to him and has a nice hiking trail through the mangroves here. There are also two privately funded monuments dedicated to the religious personnel who accompanied De Soto on his voyage to America. Free admission and parking. The visitor center is still closed but porta johns are available.

We came to this park through the Thousand Trails Membership / The Trails Collection…read more We've been here a for 4 nights. The park is laid out nicely and love the lake around the park. We walk our dogs each night and it's 1 mile around and back to our site. * Everyone is very friendly! The office staff were super nice and helpful. * The park residents were nice and friendly and would wave when they drove or walked by. * Love the Scoop on Poop message handout they give us in the packet at checkin. This message needs to be given out everywhere so to educate all pet owners to "Pick It Up"! * This park is very close to restaurants, beaches and a few botanical gardens. We definitely like coming here and will be back soon. We recommend this park! Just a few negatives we noticed: * The grass/weeds around our site and other areas we high and our small dogs had a hard time walking on it and also peeing... Funny thing though; they were cutting the grass the day we left. I honestly think the grass was high due to the previous big storm that came through the week prior and dumped a lot of rain. Understandable the grass was high! * There was an old Rv close to us that really needed to be condemned. People would come and go from it during the day. Don't think there was any power in there. I heard someone say they are trying to get it removed.... Hope they do. * When we walked around the park we would smell Marijuana at a few sections, very strong and was almost nauseating. * Could hear some of the road noise traffic from I-75. It effected my wife for than me at night while trying to go to sleep. We just turned our White-noise on a little louder to help with the noise. * Mosquitoes were bad in the morning and then again at night just before sunset (it's a Florida thing). We are from Florida and deal with mosquitoes a lot but in this area where our site was they seemed to be a lot more. We were in the back section next to the wetlands (site 1123 through 1093).

The staff has been nice to us and understanding about any concerns we have had. The people I've met here have been awesome and the community and amenities are great too for the most part... We do love it here !!!!! but now for a little critique : Well, some people's kids here at Encore Winter Quarters Manatee. lol I know construction workers stay here and have to get up early and have to work... but please don't smoke in the washrooms!!! (NO SMOKING SIGNS MIGHT HELP) DON"T leave your shampoo and washcloths in the shower ...and pleeeeeezzzzzzz flush your crap down the toilet and put the TP in the toilet not the floor and maybe wipe out the sink when ur done too. THIS IS A PUBLIC WASHROOM NOT YOUR PERSONAL PIG PEN !!! I feel bad for the staff that have to clean up after this unnecessary mess use some common decency!!! My apologies to swine of the world. lol
