Location is wonderful for folks visiting Northfield and associated colleges, the neighborhood is quiet. The breakfasts are FABULOUS. Normally, I grab something and dash, but the Inn and the breakfasts served gave me an opportunity to take my time, enjoy the food, and sip coffee before my day began. I truly had a wonderful experience, and would recommend this inn to anyone.

Good breakfast. Cons: This hotel has clearly been updated but not maintained well. The ceiling in the lobby bathroom is leaking and has a bucket catching the water. There is peeling wallpaper, cobwebs in the corner of the room, and a dingy shower tray. There was a large spot on the carpet of our room that was wet and got my suitcase and socks soaking wet. The nice patio overlooking the river closes at 10pm. Also, not to be "that person," but we are Marriott Gold Elite, and typically there is mention of that during check in, a note about the free upgraded WiFi, etc. Not only was there none of that when I checked in, I was initially told at 1:30 that it would be "1-2 hours until your room is ready" because they were busy. When I mentioned that this would be past the check in time and that we had a wedding to get to, I was told I was free to get changed in the lobby bathroom.

First, they count how many dirty towels you have, when you request for more, they will make you exchange towel for towel., and count them in front of you... Second, they knock on your door exactly at 11:00 am, check out time. Third, unfriendly staff. If you ask any questions, they act inconvenienced. Fourth, they'll question you if you need more soap. Fifth, they have NO MAID SERVICE. Your room will only be cleaned after checkout. Lastly, they'll close the breakfast area exactly at the time. If you're looking for a place to slightly accommodate your schedule, this is not the place. If you could stay anywhere else, avoid staying here.

A GREAT EXPERIENCE…read more We've now stayed at the AmericInn around 6 times over the past year. The Inn is the all about service and experience. And it starts with the GM Paul. He's the face and the spirit of the place. He gives undivided attention to each person. He's focused on your needs and takes the action to make it work. It's more than just the little things like remembering each person's name. A quick example. We'd stayed there once on a school visit. I called to see if we could have books and things shipped from Amazon to the Inn, so we wouldn't have to carry them on the plane. I remember Paul's response, "I've been here for 13 years, and we've been doing it since it was an option." The rooms are well kept. The beds are firm and clean. Everything is clean and comfortable. My only ding is there is no elevator to the 2nd floor, so make sure to request a first floor if you have limitations. I have to add that we had the suite with the whirlpool last time. Like most hotels I've stayed in, they are actually in a corner of the room. I'll say it was pristine. BTW - Did I mention that Paul is outstanding and is why the AmericInn is rated at the top of TripAdvisor for Northfield. Room Tip: There's no elevator to the 2nd floor, so make sure to inform the hotel if you have any limitations.
