I wasn't going to write a review and I surely wasn't going to give 5 stars like I did, but I wanted folks to understand why this place is important. My wife and I are traveling from Idaho. I'm always interested in local beers and checked out, From Huron Out, online. I saw that there were very mixed reviews and most were old. The most current appeared to be from a local resident who was wondering why any local would even go there. I then started reading the story behind the brewery, the brewer himself, and the backstory of the current owners. I wanted to give it a try. Only one car in the lot upon our arrival. Entering the restaurant we found it to be pleasantly unique. The staff was friendly and we sat in a booth in the bar area. The beer I was interested in trying was not available. I was told there were equipment issues that needed resolved so there were only 2 of their own beers available (I tried both during our meal). I read that the Rueben was good with the meat being "corned" then smoked. Upon ordering I was informed that they were out of Swiss cheese and was offered Provolone. The restaurant being out of a lot of items was one of the biggest complaints from multiple guests. I still ordered the Rueben and was not disappointed. It was an excellent sandwich even with a substitute cheese. Please realize that restaurant business is a tough one, and I can't imagine adding a brewery on top of it. This brewery has been around for a very long time with awards for some of their beers. It would be a shame if it doesn't get enough local support to survive. We were just 2 people traveling through which is never enough to support any business. If the revenue isn't coming in, then of course some of the menu may not be available. Brewery equipment is expensive and again, takes money flow to keep it up. Locals, please don't let this brewery/restaurant fail. Make a point to support the owners and grow the business. We stopped for dinner on a Wednesday about 1.5 hours after opening. From our selections at least half of what we wanted was already sold out. Not just the entrees, sauces and sides, parts of appetizers. Our poor overburdened waitress must have said 'I'm sorry' 20 times throughout our meal. The two servers were bustling to cover the entire restaurant. After we got our initial drink order and ordered, one friend was told they were out of beef tips for the salad he'd ordered. His alternate selection came after the rest of our meals. We waited quite a while for drink refills too... three requests worth of time. (See the above for the understaffed) When the meals arrived (in batches but piping hot), one sandwich order was incorrect and the chips on the side so salty they were inedible. We were close to the kitchen and could hear a female bellow for the wait staff. I guess when the orders were ready? The OK - the smoked chicken wings and turkey wing had good flavor, but were a bit dry without the sauce. The Dirty Rueben was 3/5. The beer was good and a good price. We had a small chat with our waitress after to express our feeling that she did her best with what she had. Overall a very disappointing experience. I shouldn't leave feeling bad for my friends that I picked the spot for dinner and worse for the overworked waitstaff. read more

Still the best root beer, anywhere. Brewed onsite, it has heavy notes of vanilla. Honestly, it's the best! The menu is limited but very good. Breakfast here is fantastic! Great burgers. read more

4/5 stars only because they were out of mainly every appetizer. However, the food was delicious and you can tell it was all homemade! I had the reuben with their hand cut fries. The BEST corned beef I've ever had on a reuben! I would've liked more sauerkraut and thousand island but the sandwich was delicious nonetheless. I had the blackberry cider too and it was sweet just how I like it! Cute/small interior and service was very mom&pop shop feel. Would visit again if we ever come back up this way! read more

Very impressed with the size of the restaurant. The variety of home brewed beers was awesome. I ordered the fish and chips. The fish was nice and flaky. The fries were homemade and fried with care. We also had Mississippi roast. The meat was so tender and vegetables were delicious. The waitstaff were excellent. A very enjoyable evening. read more

The food here is amazing. Without question some of the best I've had in north east Michigan. We had bone-in chicken wings, a Nashville hot chicken sandwich, chimichurri steak bowl, and three of the kids meals. The portions were big, and you can tell everything is made from scratch, which I rarely see anywhere else. If you're looking for a change of pace from typical up north bar food, check this place out. read more

Stopped in for breakfast last Sunday and it was very good. The service was excellent and the waitress was very friendly. I had a Chef's omelette, home fries, toast, and coffee. All of the food was great and I was glad that I stopped in. It was a little confusing to find at first because of the signage since it is in the Wiltse's Brew Pub & Family Restaurant building. I had been there a few years ago before the changeover. Still looks the same inside. Very large space with plenty of seating and a big parking lot. read more

Favorite local pub. I've never had a bad meal here. If you're a root beer fan, they brew their own and it's delicious!

Stood at the door for almost 10 minutes before anyone even greeted me the young man running around was very unprofessional the wait staff should definitely present themselves a lot better. Loved it! I'm a vegetarian and I'm always excited when there is a creative and delicious vegetarian option. This had a few choices. I had the vegan Thai peanut curry over vegetables and rice. The sauce was great and there was a nice assortment of fresh and perfectly cooked veggies. My husband had the Nashville Hot Chicken sandwich and he loved it. The homemade chips are great. Be sure to get a home-brewed root beer!! The staff are so nice and friendly. Great service. Great meal. read more

Tuesday 7 pm. They 'had a busy weekend' and were out of their entire menu of entees. We should have known when we were only the second table in the place. We had a drink and an app, paid our bill and left. I don't know how they got their good reviews. read more

We had been here a while back, when it was Wiltse's, and we really liked it. Hilltop (which is great) is always too busy on Friday nights & I was getting hangry, so we decided to give the new place a try. It was fairly empty, but shouldn't be in the future. It was so good! Our server (Sue) was fun, helpful, and attentive. She recommended the Reuben for my husband and helped me decide on the burger w/mushrooms, onions, and Swiss (I substituted Gruyère, because it's more flavorful). Both were really good. The corned beef was smoked - I repeat, the beef was corned...then smoked. It was awesome! The burger was really fantastic - the veggies & burger were all seasoned (I hate when a place just seasons the burger or just salts the veggies - this was everything perfectly seasoned), and the bun was magic. I like to save my empty carbs for ice cream, but this bun was so delicious. It was intensely warm, held its shape, didn't get soggy from the burger, and somehow was crispy, firm, & pillowy at the same time. The fries are a curvy wide steak fry and were crispy, hot, and fresh. And we split the egg roll trio appetizer - Reuben, crab Rangoon, & jalapeño popper. They were all so delicious, and the 3 sauces were fabulous, too. The only reason I don't give it 5 stars is its very dated inside, dark, the silverware seems old and quite dingy, and you can smell stale beer in the carpets that has probably been there since the day it opened its doors as the state of Michigan's 3rd brew pub. But it won't keep us from going back when we're up for summers at our cottage! read more

Terrible experience this place was old and dated and stinky. The service was horrible. I don't know if she could find her way home at night. The food was disgusting. I ordered this green salad and she apologized for forgetting to put most of the stuff in it and the lettuce was brown. It was gross. My friend ordered the fish and chips and it was greasy and old tasting. Find somewhere else stay away from this dump. read more

This place was recommended to us by one of the staff at our hotel. A buddy of mine and I were in town golfing. We just wanted a place to have a good burger and a beer. They had a wide variety of beers on tap. The burgers were very good. I had the olive burger, ordered medium and it was cooked to perfection. Server was pleasant and helpful. We were there kind of early on a Thursday night and it was not too crowded so the food came very quickly. I would definitely go back here. read more

This used to be Wiltsies Restaurant and it now has new owners. Don't know her name but she couldnt have treated us better! The food is fabulous and our waiter, Parker, was genuinely gracious and attentive. We don't drink but the bar looked inviting and attractive. The soups are made from scratch and fabulous! read more

My 50 th anniversary party was hosted at From Huron Out. I am happy beyond words. The food was exceptional, the service was wonderful. I am so grateful to Margo, the event coordinator, for making the dinner perfect. All I can do is smile. read more

The food was excellent. We came in with a group of 17. We called early in the day to make a reservation. They said they do not do reservations. We wanted to make sure they had enough staff and room. When we arrived they seemed surprised and took a bit to prep for all of us. Our waitress was super nice. A little overwhelmed in the beginning, but really pulled it altogether. Once the food orders were taken the food came out fairly quickly. The portions were generous, hot and all 17 of us were satisfied with our food. Unfortunately for the not so great part. They were out of most of their home brewed beers. And the one they did have was out after the first round. We were also told that the cocktails on the drink menu, they no longer make. Overall we were mostly satisfied. Food was very tasty, the prices were great, portions are generous. I could tell the staff is young and learning, did a good job. Also know we have been coming to this place for over 12 years. Wanted to give an opinion of someone whom this wants our first time. read more
