We've been wanting to try this place for some time but they are often full. We got early reservations (parties of 6 or more only) and arrived on time to our table all ready. There are two sides - the bar side and a side with lots of seating. The bar side has seating as well but minimal. We sat on the side with all the seating at a long high top. The chairs had backs so it was very comfortable. They have lots of choices on the menu - I chose the Lemon Herb Ravioli, which sounded light and amazing. Unfortunately, it is swimming in a lemon-y olive oil which ruins the dish completely. If they just drizzled the lemon oil over the pasta, it would be a chef's kiss. I would recommend asking for that on the side - then you can control how much you want on the dish. I also got their "tots" on the side. These aren't your typical tator tots...they are homemade shredded potatoes scooped and fried. My cousin got the same items and when the tots came, it appeared they overly fried one of the orders so just split them up between our two orders. I ate the good ones and my husband sent back the bad ones to have them replaced. They did so without any question, which was nice. My husband had the Gouda Burger with Truffle Fries. He said it was the best burger he'd ever had. The truffle fries were excellent - served with garlic aioli. Highly recommend! So, while my dish was disappointing due to the amount of oil it was swimming in, the pasta and vegees on top tasted good, the staff were friendly and accommodating, and everyone else liked their meals (burgers and fish & chips) so I'm not going to give them a low rating. We started with 2 of the craft cocktails. One was a blackberry mule and the other smoked cherry coke. Both refreshing and not too sweet. Food was great too. Had the buffalo cauliflower to start. I went to the Red Brick on a Friday night and was deeply disappointed with the food. I'd heard raves from locals, which is usually a great sign. Unfortunately we tried the fish & chips which proved to be a big mistake. The breading on the fish was tough to the point of being inedible. Even the French fries were disappointing, and I have never met a French fry didn't like. They may just have been having an off night - maybe the regular cook was off? But I doubt I'll try again. Lots to say about this place. First and foremost; its fun and hip and stands out in Alpena as one of the more modern establishments. Sat at the bar and had some cocktails which I would totally do again. We had the smoked cherry coke and the house old fashioned. Now for me; the cherry coke was too sweet and too smokey...duh that's what its called so yeah that's on me. Unique yes but I will try something else next time. My husband is an old fashioned snob. We make our own w only top shelf bourbon so when they offered him the house bourbon and insisted it was "good" he was skeptical. Let me tell you he was blown away! We're trying to figure out where we can buy their brand because he felt it was on par w Blantons, perhaps even smoother. So needless to say we will be back for drinks in the future. When we got to our table, the server was prompt and attentive. We ordered two apps from the variety they offer. Food across the board took an extraordinary long time. The Ahi nachos and the "Show Me Your Tots" both were fantastic and could easily be an amazing lunch. The tots are homemade and loaded with a unique blend of toppings that create a complex flavor profile. Both apps we would order again. If you haven't figured it out by now, I'm a yelper so I came in ready to order a couple of specific entrees based on reviews. They no longer offer the short rib stroganoff so take that off your list. The steak and Mac is now a filet and Mac and still pretty pricey..too high for something you could make at home. (They need to update the online menu.) I ordered the French Dip; my husband ordered the Chicken Marsala. Our guests had the salmon taco and the bean burger. The French dip is essentially a pot roast sandwich..I'm guessing w short rib. It's flavorful but not a French dip. So if you are a French Dip enthusiast, try something else. My husband was unimpressed with the marsala, lacked flavor particularly the marsala wine sauce. More like chicken gravy over chicken and potatoes. The salmon taco was OK but nothing super exciting but my friend loved the bean burger. Keep in mind this is not the beet and bean currently listed on the menu- its something different. I hate giving 3 stars but for the cost, I expected more in terms of the entrees. Will I come back, absolutely- the service, drinks and apps were outstanding! We'll likely come to the bar for drinks and apps or hit up the outdoor lunch venue. read more

Had a really nice meal at the red brick tap and barrel we had the ravioli, which was outstanding with chicken and shrimp. We also tried a mule and a Manhattan. Both were very good. Definitely recommend. Nice atmosphere in the service also was good. read more

Came upon this spot by recommendation from people in the area. It's a cool spot with very relaxed vibe. The staff all had a good attitude and were eager to serve in any way they could. The drink and food came out pretty quick, even on the night when they were slammed. I had the OG Burger with a side of fries on this visit. The burger was cooked to perfection, the toppings fresh, and the bun soft. Additionally, the fried were seasoned well. My only negative was the fries could be crispier. Awesome little place that's a restored 100 year building with you guessed it, Red Brick. I had the Seafood Mac-N-Cheese! Super creamy with shrimp with shredded crab. Highly recommend. I love this place. We eat here almost every trip to Alpena. The menu is just right and they're good about making tweaks to the meals to suit your fancy. Me and my husband went here for our anniversary and were just shocked with how this place has such high reviews but our food was not what we were expecting. My husband got the steak and Mac he asked for the steak to be rare and they made it well done. My blackened salmon wasn't blackened it was burnt it wasn't seasoned at all it just tasted like burnt nothing. I have zero complaints about the wait. 35 minutes on a Friday is to be expected. I was disappointed by how much they've increased their prices and would love to know who handles their food price analysis. $45 for macaroni and cheese with a few pieces of steak is ridiculous. The menu has become uninspiring and the attempt at quirky names needs to stop- for the food and the drinks. I don't want to be embarrassed by uttering the nonsense a name of the entree I'm ordering. I also think their cocktails would be better served if they were in appropriate glasses- not mason jars. Got a chance to have dinner here. Most of the time, food tends to be good at breweries, and this did not disappoint. As an appetizer I had the French onion soup. It came with a great presentation. On the taste, it was good, instead of the bread and cheese in the soup like you may normally see in French Onion soup, the melted cheese came on toast sitting on the soup bowl; some what interesting presentation. For my main course I got the New York steak (photo attached) and Mac and cheese The steak came out cooked exactly how I asked for it! It was well seasoned, and a fairly lean cut. The Mac and cheese was ok. I was not sure what they season it with or the type of cheese, but I would consider another recipe. The only down part was the price. The steak costed around $45, a bit more than I would normally pay for, but just wanted a steak that night. Would I get it again, more than likely not, but was a decent meal. I do recommend this place if you are in the area. Oh yeah I would be remorse if I did. It mention the beer. I love visiting breweries and tasting their beers.
