Scam artists at its finest. Brought my car in and was told that I needed a new alternator. Was told that the total cost was going to be 1200 dollars and would take over a week. I took it to a different shop in Lynchburg and was told the alternator was completely fine and it was just bad connectors on the battery. I was saved 1100 dollars. DO NOT GET SERVICE HERE read more

I do not recommend this repair shop. My experience with them was awful. The customer service was poor and I feel they displayed racist behavior to me. The repair person who fixed my son's car was ok however, the lady that answered the phone was unprofessional and disrespectful. She said " I'm tired of dealing with you'll" and she threatened to remove his car from the lift even though the service were paid for. Don't do it. Don't be fooled. read more

I have been a customer of Front Street Garage for several years. I have found their service to be pricey, but adequate. Until now. Recently I dropped off my truck to be repaired and inspected. After a week no one had called to inform me about an estimate, and I had to call them. I was given an estimate and I told them to go ahead with the work. Another week and a half went by and no contact. So, again I contacted them and and found that the truck was ready. When I came to pick it up the final tab was over $300 more than estimated. When I complained that previously they always called to inform me of any increase, they had no explanation, but quite a bit of attitude. So I just paid and left. Needless to say I am looking for another mechanic. read more

My older Jeep needed a clock spring which controls the horn, cruise control and airbags to pass inspection. After waiting for months for regular repair shop to find the part, a friend recommended Front Street. In 3 days, my Jeep was ready to go. I noted that it had a horrible wobble after replacing old tires and getting it aligned. Asked to check when inspected it. They confirmed that the tires were not balanced and the alignment was off. It is frustrating to have someone trusted for years be negligent. All the folks I dealt with at Front Street Garage were knowledgeable, courteous, and responsive. Even though it is further from home, I will definitely use them in the future. Their comfortable waiting area will make scheduling service while I wait also. As an older woman, I can't fix my vehicle or even precisely identify what is wrong, but know when it is not working properly. Front Street Garage is a Godsend in these chaotic times. read more

The worst customer service I have ever experienced! I tolerated the Manager's horrible customer service skills for several years. They are the only garage in Lovingston so they think they can treat their customers badly.​ It is worth driving a little further to find a garage who values their customers and provide the service that is payed for. read more

Took my truck in for annual inspection, the window worked just fine. Picked my truck up after inspection the window no longer works. Shop said we can look at it for 1/2 hour labor charge. How are you going to charge me for what you broke. Not good customer service at all. read more

Front Street Garage got a call from us at 5:30 AM as our animal rescue van, filled with dogs, broke down. As early as it was they arrived quickly and did a very professional job of towing a vehicle with live cargo to another location where a second van was waiting to transfer the dogs. Not only did they do a terrific job, but after seeing the rescue effort put forth by all of our volunteers, they refused to charge us for the tow. This is a well run business who has the community at heart. They are aces in our book! Humane Society of Amherst County and Almost Home rescue in Nelson County. read more

I had a terrible experience there. I paid over 500 dollars to have my car fix. I took it back a total of 3 times and it still broke down to this day it does not work. so what did they fix I have several pieces of paper saying what was done but a car that does not run. I am a big supporter of shopping locally, but I will NEVER willingly have car repairs done in Lovingston again. I had heard from other people about their not so great repairs that had to be redone elsewhere, but this is the first time I have experienced the incompetence myself at Front Street Garage. My husband took his sister's bent wheel in to have the tire mounted on another wheel that we provided. Her car is new enough that it has sensors that indicate low air pressure. When my husband picked up the tire and the old wheel, he did not realized that the sensor was not on it. He called back the next day, and they told him that it had been thrown away accidentally. When I went in today (two days later), the elderly woman working the window replied "I told him when he called that it was at the bottom of the dumpster, and now the dumpster is full". FIrst, it's not my fault that your technician threw away a sensor that costs about $36 to replace, and second, you knew on Tuesday that we wanted a part that your employee had put in the dumpster. Common customer service knowledge would tell you to get in the dumpster and get it out before more trash is put on top of it. But to be downright rude and nasty when the customer comes by in person to see if you had corrected a problem of your making - definitely the best way to drive off customers. Never again.. read more

So very irritated.....I called at lunchtime to see if they would be able to do a VA inspection for my car. They asked when I could come in, and I told them any time that afternoon, they said come on in at 4:30. As my cat had swatted my car keys under the fridge, and it took a bit to find them, I ended up getting there at 4:36. They told me (rather rudely) they couldn't do it because I wasn't there at 4:30. I wish they had made that clear earlier, as I could have come in at 1 or 2 or 3, etc - OR I could have taken my car to Charlottesville for an inspection. Now it is too late. Definitely taking my business elsewhere in the future. read more

I had my alternator gave up on me while in the middle of a 3 hour drive. From phone call to getting back on the road, it took only a little over an hour. They pulled employees off of other "non-emergency" work so that I could be taken care of quickly. Between electronics, weapons, and loose cash in the vehicle, I was a little worried trusting strangers. There were no issues, and even when the vehicle was checked off-property (a quick run around the block), my van was returned with nothing out of place. They are honest as can be, and the price was very reasonable. If I am ever stranded in Lovingston again I would definitely call them, and I would have no hesitation recommending them to anyone who is looking for speedy, honest, professional service. It's a shame I can only give them 5 stars, and that they are so far away from my home. They are my new favorite auto repair shop. THANK YOU, FRONT STREET!!!!!! read more
