I fly Frontier often and usually smooth sailing. Yesterday (Sunday 5/17/26) and today Monday (5/18/26) complete Sh$t show. Flight from ATL to LAS due to land at 8:11pm, however we were unable to land due to high winds. Not the airlines fault. We circled LAS for about 30 min then it was decided we would go into PHX for fuel and wait for the winds to calm down in Vegas. We arrived at PHX at 9:56 pm. Everyone told to deplane and take all belongings. New plane supposed to leave at 12:33 am (Monday) after lots of prior miscommunication about departure time. 12:33 am comes and goes no boarding , 1am comes and goes no boarding. Gate agent says he has to board us all manually using a paper list. I had to take my whole family (6 of us) on Frontier because it had the only flight that would get us to a funeral out of state on time. The experience was horrible. Seats on the plane were so bad none of us could sleep on a red eye flight. On my return we couldn't print checked bags in earlier then 3 hours before and they nickel and dime you for everything, so it's not any cheaper that a standard airline. Frontier up front plus, is it worth is? In short, no. There is extra leg room, but nothing particularly impactful. Having the extra middle seat is nice, but probably not 50-85$ nice. They claim you "board first" this is also inaccurate. You board in zone 1, which pretty much everyone boards in. There isn't much of a benefit. Not even guaranteed space for your carry on. Drinks still cost 5$ for a can of soda. They also increase the price each time you open the app, so it's a little sleazy. It is a budget airline so it's expected to try to gouge you at every turn. It's nothing really special, and not with the extra cost. It's somehow worse than an economy seat on any other airline. General note. No frontier flight has outlets or WiFi. The two employees on the right of my attachment photo are bad employees. Not professional. Not polite, No empathy. Not helpful. No nothing. The online check-in didn't work for me this morning and right in front of the Frontier Airlines employees. Why the FAA gave Frontier a license to be in business as an airline and fly is beyond me! I booked a flight from Phoenix to Denver, but after reading all the horror stories about reliability and cancelations I decided to cancel my flight, not risk missing my vacation dates and get a refund. Suprise Suprise...my flight got canceled the next day...the day I was supposed to fly cause Frontier wasn't able to get off the ground that day...Southwest flew, American Flew, United flew...NOT Frontier. I will never fly this airline again. We boarded the plane and sat there for an hour before being told the engine was broken. The crew originally told us there were backup planes available, but we later found out there were no backup planes at all. We were told we could deboard to get food, stretch, use the restroom, etc., and that an announcement would be made in 30 minutes. We were also explicitly told we could leave our belongings on the plane. So I did. About 15 minutes later, I scanned my boarding pass and was told I wasn't allowed back on the aircraft. I asked "why?" and was told we are now de boarding the aircraft. When I explained that I (and everyone else) had been explicitly told we should leave my belongings onboard and needed my purse (which had everything I needed to book another flight), I was told no because it was "technically a secure area" because the deboarding process was about to begin. NOTE: nobody had gotten off the plane yet. The plane was full of hundreds of people but I wasn't allowed on. Then, I asked if an employee could get my stuff for me and I was told no. Finally, I asked how long I'd be stuck without my purse and was told three hours. Other passengers were angry as well, we all left our belongings onboard because that's what we were told to do. One passenger yelled at the attendant to let him retrieve his things and the same man who told me no told him yes! When I saw this, I approached to request the same. Why should I be punished for calmly asking him instead of screaming in his face like the other passengers?? Meanwhile, there were over 50 passengers on this flight who needed to make a connecting flight and the airline said they actually had no backup plane and no solution. There was only one more flight out of the airport to our destination that day, across every single airline. We managed to get two of the last four seats on the only flight going to our destination (thanks American Airlines!), but everyone else was left stranded until the next day with nothing but a $100 credit. To make matters worse, I received an email saying the flight was canceled while gate agents were giving completely different information. Nobody seemed to know what was happening. When I tried to request a refund, the woman on the phone insisted I had taken the flight. I explained, "I am still in the airport. I never left." She told me that because Frontier marked me as "boarded," the gate agent had to undo it. When I went to the gate, the agent had a horrible attitude even though I politely explained the situation. This past weekend was my first time flying with Frontier. I don't think I will do it again under the same conditions. I do appreciate the extra leg room (despite being only 5' tall). Other than that, there aren't any other plusses. I shouldn't be comparing, but when I've been used to flying Southwest, I kinda have a certain standard. I chose Frontier this time because it was much cheaper for Memorial Day flights. Frontier has passengers pay when booking if they would like to bring a carry on. Ok, that part is fair. What is not fair is that they ask people to voluntarily gate check their bags because "too many people have carry ons". Then small threats like "the plane will not take off on time if we don't get enough people to gate check their carry on". Also, "If not enough people gate check, we will just start pulling bags from people boarding and forcefully gate check". I'm also pretty sure that is why everything is so chaotic when boarding Zone 1 passengers (the people who paid for a carry on bag). People hover the lines so that they could be the first within Zone 1 to board because despite having paid for that carry on, the airline is basically stating that there is no guarantee you can bring that carry on. I had a direct flight, but I feel bad for those who have tight connections that end up forcefully gate checked. The airplane itself was a bit more rickety than what I'm used to with the competing airline. Frontier also pushes their credit card in-flight. The tactics are not full-on aggressive, but they do wake you from your in-flight nap with cabin lights and loudspeaker just to announce the special offer during the flight. Lastly, Frontier does not offer free beverages. On Southwest, even the 1 hour flights from Phoenix to Vegas (and back) have beverage service. I may fly Frontier again in a pinch. read more

Frontier is always an adventure but they have cheap fares. Staff is on the younger side and pretty laid back. It's usually worth it until we got delayed 16 hours on a recent trip this weekend. Boarded at 7:52pm from Santa Ana to Phoenix. Diverted at 9:45 to Las Vegas due to weather. Landed in Las Vegas and told to come back the following morning at 5am for a 6am flight from Las Vegas to Phoenix. Had to book an emergency hotel reservation at Holiday Inn Express and use an Uber to get there. At 4:30am we woke up and noticed that there was still no information on the updated flight the following morning and the phone number wasn't allowing any one to get through. I tried the chat function and after a frustrating 15 minutes of automated responses I got a representative and they told me to report to the airport at 7am for an 8:15am flight. When we got to the airport at 7am there was still no signage of a gate number or Frontier representative telling us where to go. Using Google flights we managed to find out the Gate was D9 initially but had moved to D19. After going to Gate D19 we met some fellow travelers who managed to find out the Gate was D17. Gate D17 had no information or signage indicating it was the makeup Phoenix flight and soon became mixed with another flight leaving from there for San Francisco. Every hour google flights would update that the flight was delayed by an hour but we got no update from the gate agents or Frontier. After another 4.5 hour delay due to a late plane and a manual check-in process due to a computer systems failure at 11:45am we were able to take off from Las Vegas. (In fact we had people heading to San Francisco in our flight and they had to deboard lengthening this process) For this Frontier offered us... 10,000 miles and a $15 food voucher. I'll still keep using them but know flying with them can be a gamble! read more

My five stars are mostly because I had heard such awful things about Frontier and was pleasantly surprised that I didn't listen to them. The airport they fly out of is so near to us rather than going to a major city. It was smooth sailing (flying?) from tickets purchased online to airport check in to flight. Wonderful they give you so many choices for seating. We paid extra for priority seating for the added leg room and less baggage fees. My husband is 6'4" and I just had knee surgery. We were pleased with the leg room and that priority boarded first. The seats were comfortable and had enough room. We received an email prior to our flight date stating that the flight was full and they anticipated not having enough room in the overhead bins, so, we could check a carry on for free. I had requested wheelchair assistance (free) and at each juncture (lay overs) someone was there with a wheelchair (ours was checked) and got us to our next gate. So friendly and helpful. You have to pay for anything you purchase during the flight, which was fine. Also, the flight attendants are less than hospitable but adequate. The best thing was their customer service. They mistakenly forgot to load my wheelchair onto the plane when we flew home. They bent over backwards to make sure they located it and had it sent to our local airport for pickup. We received it, safe and sound, within 2 days. I wish I knew the name of the manager of baggage claim at the Trenton/Mercer, NJ airport. He was friendly, helpful and really came through with follow-up. I'm sorry others didn't have a positive experience. I want to give credit where credit is due. It's probably a crap shoot, but one could have a bad experience with any airline. read more

However, when I arrived in Phoenix on the evening of February 23, 2025, around 1:00 AM, I went to retrieve my luggage from the carousel, only to find that my bag had clearly been tampered with. Upon inspection, I immediately noticed that my bag felt lighter than usual. The zippers had been disturbed, and upon opening it, I found that nearly all of my personal items had been stolen, with the exception of my toiletries. Oh my... what can frontier improve? EVERYTHING. My husband is too kind to leave reviews but his atrociously horrendous experience necessitates a post. His trip to PHX from JFK (with what was supposed to be a 2.5 hour layover in Denver) ended up taking almost 13 hours. After mysterious delays upon delays, the passengers were stuck on the tarmac in Denver for hours without any AC. However, that horrendous experience was nothing compared to the flight back to New York. The flight departing from PHX was delayed due to another delayed connecting flight, resulting in missing his next flight by less than five minutes, resulting in a "five hour" layover. The connecting flight closed the doors within minutes of him running to the gate. Did no one take notice that a connecting flight had been delayed...?? As the hours ticked by, the delays continued, at multiple points resulting in zero information regarding what time and gate the flight would leave, as the screens were turned off at the gate and no notifications were sent to the passengers. What should have been an eight hour travel time TOTAL (including the layover in ATL) is now going on OVER 19 HOURS. Frontier (ever so graciously) gave him an $80 voucher. How kind. I would say frontier is trash, but that would be giving too much credit to frontier. read more

It's absolutely the worst airlines I've ever encountered from all the aspects. Their booking system, online agents, and local agents are the worst, especially so rude not professional. They cancelled my flight for no reason, and without prompt updates, how do you expect customers to do canceling the connecting flight after being boarded the first leg already. Their local agents gave you controversial information, reluctant to help you out. I ended up booking another flight with another airline company paying premium last minute cost, speechless experience. Avoid frontiers at all costs, that's my takeaway. read more

As the other 1 ratings state- this was a terrible experience. The process of boarding is ridiculous. The one zone for all creates chaos and frustration with both the passengers and the Employees. There was no communication on how to line up and when the mob approached the one lane the Employees attempted to get everyone in one line which it was obviously past that. Then they told us that the people that paid for carry on will likely have to check because they didn't have much storage capacity. Same trip different flights: They cancelled our son's first flight due to unforeseen plane maintenance. Then when they arrived for their return flight it was delayed 3 hours. They cancelled and got an American flight the next morning. Don't t let the cheap rates fool you. Pay a little more for consistency if need be, but my son's flight on American was the same price. read more
