I visited Seattle Skin & Laser for a body scan for moles. They were fantastic. Very professional and nice.

I was pretty nervous walking into my tattoo removal appointment. This is something I've been kicking around for years and fretted mightily about turning a small tattoo into something that was either worse, or no better. I appreciated the technicians honesty about what to expect as well as her "less is more" approach. She indicated it's possible my tattoo will dissipate after just one treatment but thought it was likely 2-3 would be necessary. That said, she suggested giving many months between treatments to allow the body to remove as much ink as possible. After 5 days, I'm starting to see the immediate results (initially it looks much like a burn-- so you can't really see what's going on). Some areas are completely lacking in ink with significant lightening throughout. read more

Dr. Cheryl Gustafson has been the absolute B-E-S-T!!! Seriously, a Miracle Worker - what she did for my full body eczema was heaven sent - I honestly wish I had the courage to see her a decade ago. But, I was scared to see a specialist because I thought it would cost an arm & a leg, lol, and I thought my regular doctor/practitioner would be the one to cure me. How wrong I was; my regular doctor just gave me a teeny tiny tube of triamcinolone cream to use sparingly for 10 years! For eczema that covered 98% of my body! I tried everything, honestly, natural remedies, Crisco, ACV, what-not. Finally (re: this past summer; end of July 2022), totally depressed/crying/exasperated, I said "I don't care what it costs, I'm going to dip into my savings & go see a specialist!" Enter Dr. Gustafson, whom was an honest-to-God Angel - she immediately prescribed me a huge tub of 14 oz. triamcinolone cream, as well as put me on methotrexate & folic acid - the results were immediate & have continued to only get better (re: crossing my fingers/knock on wood it stays this way lol). She's changed my life completely; I'm happy, more confident, giving, understanding, and finally starting to love myself & have more self-esteem! *heart* I don't know how to repay such an Angel. Hi! I've now had my elderly mom to see the incredibly gentle and kind Dr. Cheryl Gustafson for 5 surgical procedures for skin issues on moms hands, neck and shoulders. Every visit, without exception, has been smooth, quick and proficient. I am amazed at how Dr. Gustafson is able to get mom calm and perform a pretty complicated procedure without upsetting her. More incredible is that somehow mom remains relatively pain free after the procedures. I'm really glad to have found Dr. Gustafson as she is so incredibly good at what she does. So, I had basal cell carcinoma on my cheek. Dr. Gustafson and her team did everything just right. I mean, you cannot tell I had surgery on my face. Her instructions on post operative care did the trick. Since this is the most common skin cancer, all I can suggest is check yourself out, and if you think it may be a problem.... go see Dr. Gustafson. I had been a part of this company for almost 5 years before I moved away to a different city. I wanted to hop on here and say that this is a wonderful office to work at. The friendliness of the staff, as well as the listening ears and support of management were great assets during my time there. My daughter had an appointment to check her ringworm at 4:50 in the udistrict with dr. Gustafson. We arrived at 4:57 to a locked door. We knocked until 5, when the door was opened and we were told we were 10 minutes late and missed our appointment. However the office abides by a 15 minute late window policy. The dr claimed she needed to send home her biopsy team at 5 so they could catch a ferry. first, we weren't schedule for a biopsy we were scheduled for a ring worm check. Second, if she was planning on a biopsy and had a team who needed to leave before 5pm why did she make an appointment at 4:50? dr Gustafson is a liar and be wary of scheduling an appointment with her!! read more

Staff was helpful and welcoming. When I walked in, someone was setting a post op appointment and a nurse came into the waiting room to give more post op instructions..... not sure if that is best privacy practice. Also, the building itself is really dingey and also labeled as a "dental building," but the reason I am giving it a less than satisfactory review is from the doctor I met with. We discussed my extensive dermatologic history as he examined my skin. His exam made me really uncomfortable (and that's a lot since I've been seeing derms for 15 years) In the end he went way off topic with what I had asked him for. read more

I've seen Monica Edenholm for several years at Seattle Skin and Laser. She has seen me for both skin issues (acne and suspicious moles) as well as for some cosmetic procedures. Monica has also treated my children...but not for cosmetics:). She is compassionate and knowledgable and I have complete confidence in her. She's been able to squeeze me in at the last minute when needed and is responsive to additional questions. One of my suspicious moles required a larger excision by Dr. Lawlor and the nurse called me right away to explain the results and set up an appointment with Dr. Lawlor for the procedure. I have been seeing Dr. Lawlor for over 10 years and he is the best. I have had a chronic skin condition my whole life and he has been nothing but kind and understanding. My condition is not an instant fix but he has worked with me to find a realistic method to try out next. Through the front desk they have worked with me regarding insurance and appointment times. The wait it very minimal and the waiting room itself quite comfortable. Parking is ample and the location itself easy to find. I have tried a couple of places to see if there was anything better and honesty I was nearly appalled. I highly recommend Seattle Skin and Dr. Lawlor. They really are the best in the city. read more

Dr. Kerrie Spoonemore is OUTSTANDING!!! She is knowledgeable, personable, & takes time during the visit to really listen & then effectively address & treat the medical issue! I see her yearly for skin cancer screenings & have seen her more recently for a painful, sun-sensitive face rash (which had really been impacting my daily activities!). She immediately diagnosed my rash as "perioral dermatitis" & promptly prescribed the appropriate medications for treatment! She also discussed the possible triggers for this condition & what to expect in terms of its course & resolution! I am so thankful for the excellent clinical care provided by Dr. Spoonemore! I highly recommend her (& this clinic) to anyone looking for an amazing dermatologist! Also, the front desk & other clinicians do a great job making you feel welcome & well cared for...all around an awesome experience!!! read more

I haven't actually been in - this is just a review based on customer service. Called at 10 a.m. and left a message wanting to schedule an appointment. Heard nothing. Called back at 4 p.m. and sat on hold for 8 minutes to finally get someone on the phone. They don't take either of the TWO types of insurance I have - so it would be $310 for my visit. Dr. Gustafson started by lecturing me about how psoriasis isnt actually an autoimmune disorder. She then offered to put me on a very powerful drug given to cancer patients that can damage the liver. She then hyped a light booth. It was not a great experience, and I wont go back to see her. read more

I saw Monica Edelholm (PA-C) twice for a weird and very uncomfortable skin condition I've been struggling with, and she was very sympathetic and understanding. She gave me a copy of the pathology report from the skin biopsy they did also, so I could have all the information with me. I really appreciate that, sometimes medical professionals don't readily offer that because they would rather be the ones you discuss things with but she was very open and honest about it. The medical assistant Elane (who I think also does cosmetic services) was also very, very lovely. She was very understanding during my skin biopsy procedure and took the time to explain it and make me feel comfortable about it before the procedure began. The 1 star off is because I was told I would receive my biopsy results in 7 days, but after 10 business days of no responses, I had to call the office twice (once at 9:30 am, once at 4 pm, both in the same day) in order to get someone to give me my results. Apparently the message I gave the receptionist about wanting my results was lost in translation between the Seattle office and the Edmonds office during the day, and that's why it took so long for someone to get back to me. But that is more regarding the office structure than the actual medical practitioners I had. The building is relatively easy to find, and the front desk has been polite, professional and very kind both times I have been there. I really appreciated the care from both Monica and Elane, so I would definitely go back. (Although, I haven't received my bill yet, though, so hopefully nothing will pop up there to make me dock another star for the office staff). read more

I had an appointment with Dr. Yoo and confirmed twice via email. Because of Covid, I thought it best to call and confirm a couple of days prior to my appointment. I called and (I believe her name was Melissa) assured me that Dr. Yoo would be there for my appointment. I had a two hour round trip but when I arrived I was told that Dr. Yoo wasn't there and they had known she wouldn't be present for several days! I was then told that I could see a PA. I had no intention of seeing an assistant when I had waited 3 weeks to see an MD for my condition so I left. Being assured that the doctor would be there when they knew she wouldn't was absolutely inappropriate and there is no way I will use their services. Melissa (or whomever that was) needs to be fired as she just lost a patient for Dr. Yoo. There needs to be some serious front office training. read more

I have known Dr. Spoonemore for over a decade. I have found her to be very competent. She is engaging, extremely knowledgeable, sincerely cares for patients and very importantly she explains things very well. She's diagnosed a mole that worried me, sutured an injury, etc. Scare? Barely visible, need to look. And I've had the misfortune of needing stitches a lot so I do know :) I would highly recommend Dr. Spoonemore. read more

This review is not for Kerrie Spoonemore, MD who helped my daughter, but for the office staff at Seattle Skin and Laser. Several problems led me to write this review, although I did leave a message with Leanna to speak with Dr. Spoonemore and would have preferred to speak with her about my concerns but she never called me back. First problem was the front desk telling my daughter to fast before one of her appointments. She did but this is absolutely incorrect- you don't need to fast before a pregnancy test or Accutane. I called the front desk to ask about this and I did not get an apology or any acknowledgement that it was an error. Then the problems ramped up; she had to transfer care to her college town and we had a huge fight to get her medical records. Countless calls, faxed requests and huge hold times. Eastern WA Dermatology held for long wait times, up to 1/2 hour and gave up, I held for 20 min, 15 min, etc and more. When Leanna at Seattle Skin and Laser got the original request, ONE chart note was faxed over, leaving us nowhere! It took days of headaches and Eastern WA Dermatology working diligently to get what they needed (lab reports, IPledge, etc) so she could be seen. Time is crucial when you are a female on Accutane and to fall "out of window" is a big deal as you have to start over w/ all the pregnancy tests. I never received a call back from Dr. Spoonemore, though if this was my staff I would want to know. I could see no way to email the office manager on the website and the only phone number listed is the main one for Edmonds and Seattle. Huge wait times and no way to reach anyone specifically. We also never received any apologies for the huge hassle. Really disappointing! read more

Had a great first experience with a dermal filler with RN Laura Jones. The consultation was very informative; she was patient and answered all my questions - I came away with a clear sense of what product would be used, why and what results I could expect. The front desk person was efficient, discreet (didn't broadcast what your visit was about to the whole waiting room; thank you!) , friendly and let me know about a "birthday month special" which I greatly appreciated. When I opted for the treatment, Ms. Jones totally put me at ease and talked me through each step of the process. The visual result was exactly what I'd hoped for and I'm very pleased. read more

Do not waste your money here. I believe they dilute their botox. I have had the same amount of botox applied at other places and seen results, but here there was absolutely nothing. In addition, the technician who administered the botox gave me three big welts on my face and also left bruising. I know all of these things are "possible" but are also a reflection of an inexperienced or poor technician. When I came back in to discuss why I hadn't seen any results they referred me to Skin Spirit in U Village where the real botox experts are. So honestly, just go straight to Skin Spirit and don't waste your time or money here. read more

I was traveling and only in Seattle for a week when my primary care doctor called to say that the pathology showed that he did not get all of my skin cancer excised. Rather than wait 2 months until I got home to have a second excision I called Seattle Skin and Laser. They got me in 2 days later! The entire staff was great, especially Dr. Gustafson who did a Mohs procedure. Nicely healed and no more cancer. read more

I would give this place negative stars if I could. They performed a procedure on me without fully explaining it (and its risks), leaving me with a permanent scar. Really bad experience. I made an appointment with Dr Spoonemore, provided all my info. No reminder emails, text messages, or phone calls were sent. At no point was I informed I needed to travel to Edmonds (I live and work in Seattle). I showed up for my appointment at the Seattle clinic and was told I had been scheduled at Edmonds and was then asked if I had time to run up there. Um, no, I have a full-time job, I don't have time to run up to Snohomish County. Then they asked if I wanted to reschedule. Why would I want to reschedule if you couldn't get it right the first time? I used to go to Seattle Skin & Laser for all my dermatological needs, both cosmetic and otherwise. About a year ago, I was browsing their website, and having already been curious about dermal fillers, I came across a Spring special offering Voluma for $100. Deciding this would be a great opportunity to try a filler at a low price point/low risk, I called the office and left a message saying I would like to schedule an appt, clearly stating that it was for the $100 Voluma special. I received a call back the next day when the office opened back up, and again stated that i was interested in the $100 special. Since they didn't have any appts available until after the special ended, the receptionist kindly offered to honor the deal. On the day of my appt, no mention was made of the actual price, it was only referred to as the "special", though I now realize I should have clarified beforehand. The injections were done, and immediately after I regretted not being more specific with the injector about where to place the filler in my cheeks. Rather than address the low volume areas (of which there are plenty; my face is very thin/flat/narrow/etc), she placed the filler in my already prominent cheekbones, and it seemed uneven. However, I would soon come to find that these concerns were the least of my worries... When I went to the front desk to check out, the receptionist rang me up and told me what I owed: $900!!!!!!! Ok, now after the fact, knowing the general pricing of Voluma, this should not have been such a shock to me. Unfortunately, while I had done plenty research prior regarding the effects, etc, of Voluma, the one thing I had not actually looked up was the price. I calmly asked the receptionist about the $100 special, and to my surprise was told it was actually $100 off. I showed her my phone, where I had the webpage pulled up that clearly showed it said $100, not $100 off. She looked at my phone and told me that it must just be a mistake on my phone (which, anyone who knows anything about phones, the Internet, etc, knows is not possible). I asked the receptionist to check on her computer and we found the problem: there were two separate pages on their website that advertised the special: one of them said $100, and one said $100 off. Seeing as I never saw the page that said $100 off before my appt though, this was a very serious typo. I never would have gotten the filler had I known it was $900; there were things that bothered me on my face that I would have wanted to address much more than my cheeks, things that would have taken priority for any fillers I chose to spend money on, and the only reason I opted to get Voluma in my cheeks was because it was so cheap and I thought it would be a great way to test the waters and see if I wanted to make a bigger financial commitment down the line. What bothered me even more was the utter nonchalance of the receptionist. She didn't even seem phased, or at all apologetic or anything. While I realize honoring such a price difference might be too much to ask, I do believe that it's what they should have done. They could have at the very least met me in the middle! Instead I was met with a blasé attitude, and not wanting to cause a scene and feeling embarrassed myself for not knowing the price and expecting such a drastically cheaper one, it seemed I had no choice but to pay. Unfortunately, I only had my debit card and not my credit card on me and didn't have anywhere near $900 cash on me or in my checking account, so I paid part of it and asked if I could send a check in later. She said normally you have to pay on site for fillers, but begrudgingly obliged. And when I received the bill in the mail, I paid it, because unlike them, I honor my word. But I definitely won't be going back. read more

After my horrible experience with Monica Edenholm at SSL I was invited to come back into the office to see a different doctor. My appointment was with Dr. Lawlor and my experience with him was completely different than my experience with Ms. Edenholm. He listened to me, he believed me, he was compassionate and ultimately took care of the issue. I ended up needing surgery and I will be following up with Dr. Lawlor in a couple of weeks. I believe Dr. Lawlor to be very knowledgeable and I would not hesitate to see him again if any other issue should arise which falls under his area of expertise. He also apologized for Monica's treatment of me because obviously the woman does not have enough class to apologize to me herself. read more

I visited SSL and saw Monica Edenholm to talk about some skin issues that started when I was pregnant. She was very understanding and related my problem to something she had dealt with also, which made me feel better about being there. She tried laser and moved me to a special lotion when that didn't work. She didn't try pushing additional services on me that she knew wouldn't help my skin. She was honest with me and I'd definitely go back to see her. Great office! read more

Seattle Skin & Laser staff were very kind and professional. However, I found that they charge quadruple for tattoo removal compared to the office I am now going to. I have a tattoo the size of a quarter and they still told me it would be $300 a session. I will need multiple sessions for removal. The new office I am going to (also a very professional medical office) is charging me 1/3 of that price per session and reducing the cost for each session I go since my sessions literally take 30 seconds each. SSL was only willing to reduce each cost if I paid up front for multiple sessions (a large financial commitment all at once). I understand that the staff at SSL are nurses, which is great and why I originally chose them, but paying triple the price for a "more qualified" person to use the same technology is not something I'm willing to pay for and why I marked down their rating. read more

Tattoo removal experience is excellent with this team. My first few visits were very scary, but Joanie got me through. :) Years later, I sought her opinion on mole removal at the office. A few weeks later, Dr. Lawlor helped me get through my mole excisions, including two on my face. My results are coming along VERY well. Comparing my experience to others and youtube vids, mine was much, much better cosmetically, pain level-wise, price-wise, everything. Dr, Lawlor and team are the best! read more
