Have been a patient of Dr Spoonemore for years. Called the clinic to schedule and appointment and only *after* they did a whole insurance verification on me, did they tell me that Dr Spoonemore no longer works at this clinic. I said I was calling to book with her specifically and they said something like they 'couldn't tell me anything about where she is even if they wanted to" or some other unprofessional statement. This deceptive practice guarantees I will not visit this clinic for any reason going forward. read more

I can't imagine a bigger waste of time than this clinic. I was referred by my urologist. Her advice was literally to see a urologist after the most rushed, uncaring and unhelpful visit in any establishment I've ever entered - including fast food restaurants, gas stations and porta potties. I left less knowledgeably about my condition than before I walked in the door. You'll learn more from a poorly formed google search than any crumb of shoulder shrugging this place can barely muster. I get charged over $500 for 5 minutes of service and they didn't even figure out my skin issue, doctor has the worst bedside manner. I went in with a couple of different skin issues and they told me oh you're fine but when I saw a different doctor they we're able to give me a diagnoses. read more

**UPDATE** After writing my review about the scar that Dr. Spoonmore left on my face, Kean Lawlor (founder of Seattle Skin & Laser) reached out and commented, "I am sorry to hear about your experience with our office. Our goal is to provide the highest care and customer service to all of our patients...". He asked that I schedule an appointment to meet with him to research further what happened during my visit and that's what I did. When I went in to speak with him he basically said "people make mistakes" and that "this is real (my scar)" and there was no responsibility taken for what was done. I just kind of sat there crying. There was no discounted or complimentary treatment offered and no compensation given to me to help improve the appearance of the scar at another office. He simply said "come back in a few months". The clinical manager worked with their compliance team to try to cover the cost of some treatments elsewhere, but it was denied (please note I've already done 3 microneedling treatments @ $900 and also a BBL @ $500, and I don't know if I can afford much else). The letter from the Seattle Skin & Laser compliance team said that I was aware of the risks, but Dr. Spoonmore did not discuss risks. Again, she said that it would heal for about 7-10 days and the scab would simply fall off revealing new skin. Before the procedure, she just quickly handed me something to sign (I felt very rushed to sign and not read the form) and she was off to treat my face. She did not offer any other treatment to remove a simple sunspot. She could have simply said, "go get a BBL, we even offer them here!". Instead she damaged my skin with cryotherapy on two spots by going too deep into my skin (she also damaged the melanocytes in both spots which produce pigment so I'm left with not only indented scars, but white ones). What I experienced was definitely not the "highest care and customer service...". I'm traumatized, sad, ashamed and disappointed in the lack of genuine empathy and care from the team at Seattle Skin & Laser. This isn't right and no one should be treated this way or feel how I feel about myself after this treatment. read more

This review is for Dr. Kerri Spoonemore, not necessarily for the business itself. My dermatology needs are not cosmetic. I am an older dude and developed a mysterious scalp rash and both ocular and facial Rosacea eleven months ago, interestingly at the same time I moved to Seattle. I went to several physicians, each one certain in their diagnosis and treatment. Yet, my scalp rash continued to torment me incessantly. Another dermatologist did a clumsy biopsy that proved nothing, except a scalp will scar if carved into without skill. Finally, I went to see Dr. Spoonemore. Shedding the usual medical templates that "the same treatment is good for all," Dr. Spoonemore applied an intellectual approach to her diagnosis, analyzing and problem solving with cognitive intensity, rather than following a prescribed linear path. She came up with a treatment plan somewhat "outside the box." It worked! My scalp is 90% better. The burning and itching is gone, and I have stopped losing my hair. I can finally get a decent night's sleep. Many dermatologists are "cosmetic" specialists, hoping to earn tons of dollars in our modern capitalist tradition. I made an appointment and told the receptionist that I needed to see a Dermatologist for four issues. I arrive early and see the doctor, but right as I enter the examination room, the receptionist informs me that my session will only be 15 minutes and the doctor can only talk to me about two of four of my issues. I'm quickly made to prioritize my issues, and decide to just go with two issues that I've had diagnosed previously so I could get the medication I already know I need. The doctor steps into the room already flustered, hurriedly confirms my self diagnoses, and seemingly rushes out of the room as fast as she could. If I clearly state that I have multiple issues to talk to, you either need to give me a full 30-minute time slot (who gives 15 minute time slots with the doctor anyways???), or warn me ahead of time so I can go to the many places where the doctors can actually speak to me. I have been to multiple dermatologists and do NOT recommend Seattle Skin & Laser. This felt more like a fast-food experience than an actual clinic experience, and you will not be treated with the care that you want and deserve. read more

I have been seeing Dr Kean Lawlor since I was 15. ( 1995) I have seen him for ALL of my skin needs and concerns. I called last week to schedule an appt to have skin concerns looked at. I was first told by front desk that I needed a referral. ( she was aware of my insurance) I got a referral from my dr at Swedish and called back and was told that they are not taking new patients with my insurance . im considered a new patient because haven't been seen in awhile. I was unaware my dermatologist would drop me if im not seen regularly? why would I see a dermatologist unless I had skin issues and concern? I see my primary care regularly.. not my dermatologist. I should have written this review a long time ago. I had a horrible experience at this clinic and felt compelled to share in order to warn others. I started laser removal for a tattoo on my leg about 2 years ago. Joanie Poth, who has since retired, did my very first treatment. Afterward, she instructed me to keep my tattoo wrapped up in saran wrap for the rest of the week. This trapped in all of the heat from the laser and resulted in my leg becoming severely infected. I developed massive blisters that turned bright green, got cellulitis in my leg, and was bedridden for over a week as it was too painful to walk. In addition to being incredibly traumatizing, the infection left me with a couple of discolored spots on my tattoo. I should have immediately taken my care into the hands of another clinic at this point, but I returned to Seattle Skin & Laser for my next 3 laser treatments. Every time I went in, Joanie spoke to me in a way that felt judgmental and condescending. She looked at the discoloration left behind by my infection and sharply told me that she'd "never seen anything like that in all her years of doing tattoo removal." It made me feel incredibly self-conscious and almost like she was trying to make me feel bad about it... even though the discoloration was a direct result of the poor aftercare instructions that she gave me. I finally ended up transferring to a different clinic that offers Saturday appointments... and let me tell you, the difference was night and day. Not only was the staff caring and compassionate, but they also immediately recognized the discoloration on my tattoo as scarring and informed me that it would be easy to treat at their clinic. This is something that Joanie, a supposedly seasoned expert at tattoo removal, couldn't diagnose and acted like it was some medical mystery... yet the staff at this new clinic diagnosed it in about 5 seconds. The new clinic also told me that I should NEVER have kept my tattoo covered after treatments as the tattoo needs to breathe, and that that is why my leg became infected the first time. So yeah... Seattle Skin & Laser has no idea what the hell they are doing. I regret ever putting my care in the hands of this clinic, and I urge you to choose another provider if you are considering coming here for tattoo removal. read more

Bad but not awful experience. Three months ago I had a cyst removed from my back. Initial procedure was fine. A very young and noticeably less than well experienced person removed my stitches. Fast forward a month, my incision has partially opened back up and is bleeding and painful. I schedule an appointment with a doctor there. She takes a close look, thinks it infected and prescribed antibiotics. The lab results from that visit come back and I'm informed that it is infected. Three weeks after, infection appears to be gone. This morning I pulled a piece of the stitches out of my back!! The young person did not do a thorough job, which led to my infection, and then the DOCTOR DID NOT DO A THOUROUGH JOB! How could she have missed the stitches in my back?! Nice people but no thanks. read more

I was in a lot of pain due to what "webMD" says was due to a cyst that's on my spine between my shoulder blades. I arrived to my appointment, and the PA said it wasn't a cyst. It was just a bump that got infected. Sure. Let's just get it removed. I mentioned that the bump causes a lot of agony, and is ruining my sleep. I may have said this too casually because the PA just prescribed me an antibiotic and a steroid. Roughly 5 days go by, and the bump is swelling to a golf ball. It's nearly impossible to lay on my back. I call the dermatologist again to state I'm in worse pain, what can we do. The dermatologists team needs to ask their PA on what to do. This is fine. It's when they call back and leave a message saying to schedule an appointment with Jenn Hall. I felt alarmed like is there something i should be worried about, and I also felt very brushed off. I call Jenn Hall's team to schedule my appointment, and I tell them there should be notes in my file. The receptionists says they see them, and were good. The morning of my appointment I get a missed call. It's the receptionist asking what is the purpose of my appointment?? The communication between staff needs an upgrade.. Jenn was very thorough, confident, and took her time. I felt more comfortable in the steps we were taking when Jenn was leading. Both PA's were thorough in their approach. I do wish I was given the option of lancing it at my first appointment. Or at least the option to schedule an appointment at the Edmonds location. I live in Edmonds. It was not fun commuting to Mercer island for what I felt was their initial mishap. Everyone was kind. It was an okay experience. Why were both facilities so cold tho? read more

I took some time prior to my appointment to write down all of my concerns, and gave it to the MA who roomed me so the doctor could look it over before seeing me. I'm glad I did that, as she was able to address all my concerns, and we had an in depth discussion about some changes we could make with my medications. I really felt that she was sympathetic - and she encouraged me not to give up, that she would continue working with me to find the best treatment plan for my case. I had the Miradry procedure. I sweated constantly from my armpits that starting in my mid thirties. I was ruining my shirts and really uncomfortable from the wetness. I never had any oder (probably because I was always applying antiperspirant/ deoderant, which did nothing but help stain my shirts). This all lasted a few years before... I learned about MiraDry from my wife, who was being seen at Seattle Skin & Laser for eczema (she loves this place as well). After a 75 dollar consultation (payable towards the procedure), I set the date! I had mine done late afternoon so i could go home and rest (I even went to work the next day, just took ice with me and then I had a weekend). The numbing was the worst part, which wasn't so bad and the procedure didn't hurt. In total I was there maybe an hour. I followed the icing directions (they recommended two little frozen water bottles in socks and they worked great! I bought four and rotated them!) and healed up quickly without much discomfort. I experienced numbness for a couple months, I had some bumps and bruises (about 20 percent of area), hair loss (around 75 percent), after 3 weeks started smelling like onions (after a week of that started using nonpersperant deoderant, no longer an issue) and no sweeting at all ever, not even once! This place has scarred me for life, twice. It has been a terrible life misfortune for me to have gone here. I started getting a tattoo removed several years ago at Seattle Skin & Laser and went back for other IPL and fraxel treatments. They noticed a weird bump on my chest but kept lasering for years, until I found out from another dermatologist who looked at it once and immediately diagnosed it as skin cancer. Due to the delay in detection and biopsy, the skin cancer procedure was very invasive and left a disfiguring scar on my chest. I can't help but wonder, if Seattle Skin and Laser had done their job in detecting it early and treating it, that it wouldn't have been so bad. Apparently they just like making money off of cosmetic procedures that backfire. Because the three-year tattoo removal process left me with a huge white scar in its place. On top of that, it never removed the yellow pigment. I just learned tonight I have been paying 3 times the amount for tattoo removal here as other places, who use a better laser, the Quanta Q Plus C. I also just learned that there is a class action lawsuit against the company who makes the laser that Seattle Skin and Laser uses, Picosure. Picosure is basically a scam. The Quanta Q Plus C is the only laser that gets all the pigments out safely. You can look it up, I only wish I had sooner. I've already been through a lot of therapy trying to cope with these scars all over my body. Beyond suing Seattle Skin and Laser, which they probably deserve, all I can do is leave this Yelp review and just live with the fact that I am scarred for life because of them. read more

Dr. Kerrie Spoonemore has been awesome. When Dr. Lawlor was booked, I didn't want to wait and saw her. She was extremely thorough and very nice. I was told I had athlete's foot by more than one doctor, but I didn't think it was as it was brought on when I ate certain foods and it was only my right foot. I was given topical creams in the past, but it didn't work so I stopped using it. A podiatrist prescribed oral Lamisil and when I read the side effects, there was no way I was going to take it, especially since I didn't believe it was fungal. Dr. Spoonemore listened and took the time to take a sample of the dead skin cells and examined it under a microscope. I was correct. It wasn't athlete's foot or fungus related at all. She told me to simply apply a particular lotion that she gave me samples of and gave me an ointment as well. Although foods still trigger a response, my foot is returning to normal and is a lot less itchy. I highly recommend her. I can tell she cares about her patients by her line of questioning. I'm glad I chose to see her. read more
