Imagine spending over $800 to fly your family of four from Cincinnati to Fort Myers, and then finding out the day before you're flying home from Fort Myers that your 4 and 5 year-old passengers had their reservations canceled, without your notice, and now you have to pay another $868 to get your 2 kids home with you. What a wonderful, non-budgeted for surprise on the last day of vacation. No refund, no credit, and they even charged us again to reserve the seats next to us for our kids. The same seats we already paid for!! The back-story on this is pretty simple. After we booked our flights, grandparents decided they wanted to leave a few days early with the girls and have their own little vacation time, so they flew down and we followed, with our kids' "personal items" in-tow. We asked the attendant at the check-in desk if we were ok to have our girls' bags with us, even though they weren't physically on the flight, since we still paid for and had their seats, and that was fine. As we sat on the plane, an attendant came back to check whether our other 2 passengers were riding with us, and we let them know that they flew down on a separate flight with their grandparents but would be returning with us. At no point in either of these conversations were we alerted that their flights would be canceled due to "missing" the first leg. No email notification, no refund, no NOTHING! Fast forward to the day before we are supposed to fly home. I checked our reservation to confirm the flight departure time and thought it was weird that only my and my husband's name were on the reservation. After speaking with "customer service" for over 2 hours and cycling through 6 different people, we were defeated and forced to pay the additional $868 to fly our 2 little girls home. It's appalling, baffling, and outrageous. And at no point in time did anyone offer a solution besides paying the almost $900 fee for a one-way flight home. This airline will nickel and dime you to death. They are tacky and lack any sort of real humanity. How you can cancel 2 kids' reservations in a party of 4 without any hesitation or repercussion is beyond me. Shame on you, Frontier Airlines. I fly about 15 flights per year, and had the worst experience with frontier in CVG ever. I flew from from CVG to Austin roundtrip, with a stopover in Orlando on the way, and paid extra for a checked bag for every flight (found out later by a frontier in employee in Austin that even that was incorrect). While checking my bag, I asked the lady if the bag will be checked the whole way or if I need to claim... She interrupted me, rolled her eyes, and with a very condescending tone said the bag will be checked all the way through. I'm walking through security (super fast in CVG, btw), looked at the checked bag sticker receipt, and it only said Orlando. I go to the gate agent to see if he can check. He apparently can't see anything, tells me I probably have to claim my bag in Orlando and go back through security. When I asked him if he could help me change that, bc my layover was only 1 hour, he all the sudden can see "yes! Your bag is going all the way to Austin!" I get to Orlando, still feeling uneasy about my luggage arriving with me. I arrive in Austin, flip my phone off of airplane mode, and I have a voicemail. "Hi, this is frontier baggage claim in Orlando, we have your bag and it looks like... You are in Austin now." I was in Austin Friday through Sunday morning. My bag came late Saturday afternoon. Soo i paid an extra 114$ to not have a bag. How does this make sense? Honestly, if it were not for the awesome customer service at Austin's baggage claim, I would never fly frontier again. So now I will settle with avoiding them in Cincinnati altogether. Those employees need to be kicked the curb, as there are plenty of other competent and polite individuals in the Midwest that would be a better fit for those roles. I'll admit, I was a little nervous after reading the other reviews, but my experience was awesome. I've come to the conclusion that people only review airlines when something has gone wrong (which can happen on any airline). Both of my flights with Frontier were on time and / or early, the planes were clean and the staff was friendly. Yes, you'll pay more for a seat assignment in advance, a drink or snack, and to bring a bag other than a personal item; but their fares are still way below other carriers. I'd rather tote my own snack on than pay an extra $200 for a small bag of peanuts and a coke. The planes are older, but they've been gutted and are fine. The seats don't recline and the tray tables are super small, but again, the price is right. I can't wait to fly Frontier again. Great deal! read more

Frontier used to be my favorite when they first came to CVG. However, after my most recent trip with them, I will be avoiding Frontier at all cost. It's not because I had "one" bad experience, or because how small their treys have gotten, I was simply shocked by how bad it had gotten overall. First of all, now none of the seats recline, yes, none. They must have downgraded to cheap planes that even budget airlines don't want. Second, they charge you for everything, and I mean EVERYTHING...I'm surprised they don't charge for water. When I say everything, I don't just mean they charge for checked luggage. They charge you for soda, carry-ons, and even for selecting any seats. Seats start at $13 (including middle seats). I don't mean extra-leg room or exit rows. If you don't pay and select a seat, you will automatically be assigned a middle seat. Wanna just carry-on your luggage and save money? Good luck. All the carry-ons start at $40. Checking your luggage is actually cheaper...$35. Also keep in mind, if they deem your "personal item" is too big, they will charge you $60 to bring it on to the plane. If you're calling customer service, be expected to hold for at least 30 minutes. I'm quite baffled by Frontier tbh, other airlines strive to improve, Frontier manage to worsen. Yea their fares might be slightly cheaper than others, but they charge you an arm and a leg for everything else, and the overall experience with them is just not pleasant. With all these additional hidden fees, you're really not saving much and might actually end up paying more. If your flying time is an hour or less and Frontier's price is much cheaper, then maybe put up with them, otherwise, it's not worth it at all. read more

Not even worth 1 star. Frontier airlines ALWAYS has delayed or canceled flights. Rude employees, and filthy airplanes. I've never had an okay flight using them, but have put up with it because of pricing. Not ever again. Im sick of being stuck in airports while their less than qualified staff rudely offers zero solutions to problems created by them. Their planes are always "broken" and being "fixed" at another airport and therefor delaying the flights. They wait for HOURS before offering a measly voucher to cancel your flight and rebook (sometimes for days later)or a meal voucher. I flew using Frontier back and forth to Ohio, because my grandma is sick, once a month for nearly a year and a half. I had a small break from having to fly and just had to make a trip back this past weekend, and same issues different day! Ive always had a great experience with Frontier and now that they are at CVG, it is no exception. I arrived at the airport to check my bag and saw a long line. Don't be deceived, the staff was so efficient that the line went quickly and from arrival to finish I was at my gate in less than 30 mins. My bag arrived in Austin unscathed. The pilot and airline crew were great, and didn't tolerate crap from a couple unruly passengers, which was awesome. I was happy with a great rate (half the price of other airlines for same destination) no frills, add on the extra leg room reclining seats and I was a happy camper. Flight arrived early by the way. I think the people with the negative reviews might be doing it wrong! I will be taking this route frequently from now on and look forward to doing so with Frontier! read more

First time flying Frontier from CVG to Tampa direct flight a little under 2 hours. This was my best flight ever and I rarely fly maybe once a year. I really don't enjoy flying but the flight was so smooth going and coming back. It was cloudy both days but the pilot did a excellent job. I was afraid to fly this airline because of the bad reviews but I had a Excellent experience from booking my flights to check in everyone was professional and nice. On June 18, 2022 I was scheduled to fly to Orlando Florida. Frontier overbooked by 11 people so we had no choice in the matter we had to take the next flight which was June 20, 2022. The customer service rep Candy basically told us that we had no choice in the matter other than to take the next available flight which was June 20, 2022. She then said we will pay you four times the amount of your flight there and and also Credit your credit card for your flight there and your luggage there for the overbook. So she rides all loving of us people that could not get on the flight a check. Told me us to check or credit card in three or four days to see if the credit was on there as well. So I did not check the credit until around 25 June and it still was not on my credit card statement. Got a hold of customer service at the baggage claim, Lora was a very nice lady and told me she will contact Candy herself and ask her what happened. So we played phone tag for a couple weeks and Candy was aware that she forgot to put in the notes that we are to get our credit card and our luggage credit also. Did not get anywhere with that so we called customer service they told us to file a complaint. Filed a complaint and still have not gave us our credit on our credit card. They told me because I chose to take the flight I don't get a credit, yes I chose to take the next flight because I'm going on vacation and I've already three days out of vacation because of their screwup on the overbooking of 11 people on 18 June. We pay three days for vacation that we couldn't even use because of this screwup. Not very happy at all with the customer service and the runaround they have put me through for over a month. I don't never recommend flying this airline because they're Cheaper than other airlines. The headache of this airline is not worth it. It may seem petty but every single day I will write a review on them because they refuse to give me my credit that credit is due to me. The flight attendants were very awesome and sweet. Personally I'm not sure why reviews are so bad.... I ise them all the time and yes they have excessively long layovers at times but you know that ahead of time and can choose a different flight. I was just in San Diego and due to a personal emergency I had to leave several days early. I was able to book a flight with one day notice for my daughter and I and also able to upgrade to the refund-ability option with better seats (front row for part of trip) and luggage included for 600$ for both of us... 1 day notice! Every other airline wanted over 900$ per person due to short notice. I did have a 5 hour layover --- which was a pain but I was aware when I booked... ended up using delta sky club which provided snacks, attendants (very nice to my daughter), drinks of all kinds which made it bearable... anyway, getting back to frontier... had a great experience yesterday although I can say the loudspeaker was painfully loud when they made announcements but that was only on a portion of the flight. The pilot allowed my daughter into the cockpit and was very friendly and kind and let us take pictures... even invited me to sit and he'd take our picture "at the wheel" (I declined as we'd been traveling for many hours and I looked it. Anyway... one time about a year ago I had a 3 hour layover and they had an additional three hour delay which was completely painful as my daughter was traveling with me and was antsy and hadn't thought of delta club at that point.... so it sucked... BUT... a week after I got home from that trip I found an email with a 100$ voucher for my daughter and I each due to the inconvenience... NEVER has an airline compensated me for a delay before... they kind of won me over that day!.... definitely pay extra for the upgrades is my opinion because more than likely they will still be cheaper then the other airlines and you will be more comfortable!! read more

I fly Frontier quite a bit.....and to be honest I normally wouldn't leave a 5 Star review for our experience......BUT we wouldn't fly with them if they weren't worthy of at least some of our love :) While we are generally welcomed with smiles by Frontier staff, today was extra.....a VERY KIND employee Kimberly Wells went way above and beyond for my wife and I. Sadly, more often than not, when someone needs "support" from customer support so many "faces" of businesses and organizations today tend to be professionals at frowny faces and blank stares accompanied with condescending conversation....and for a very brief moment another employee gave me the feeling that is exactly how it might go this time around for us...Kimberly snuck in and truly treated us with kindness and helped us anyway she could. Another employee (flight staff) was really nice as well!! So our trip back home to Las Vegas after 2 weeks with grandkids in Ohio started off right!! :) Thank you Kimberly Wells and Frontier!! My wife and I bought tickets to Las Vegas when they were introducing the new non-stop route from CVG to LAS in August 2014. We paid just over $300 for two of us leaving on a Friday night and returning Monday night/Tuesday morning on a redeye. Yes, Frontier makes you pay for choosing your seat ($8 each). Yes, Frontier makes you pay more for carryons ($25 online, $30 airport). You can save $5 on a checked bag that you have to pay for ONLINE during the check in process if you sign up for their Discount Den when you book your ticket. So it's $15 instead of $20. Even with those fees, the price can't be beat from another carrier. No, Frontier does not give you snacks or drinks for free. What do you want when you are paying under $200 round trip NON-STOP from CVG. When's the last time any flight that wasn't Delta was NON-STOP from CVG? So if you bring an empty water bottle and buy some snacks outside of the airport, you can fill up at the water fountain and have something to nibble on during the flight without any hassle. Also, my personal item was a backpack that fit just fine under the seat and had everything I would need for a ~4 hour flight in it. Naturally, Southwest would be the best choice (2 free checked bags and snacks and drinks for free), but we flew with Airtran/Southwest out of Dayton this time last year and one ticket alone cost ~$300, so we were ecstatic to pay that much for both of us and no layovers through Atlanta. I think American travelers need to get over themselves and realize you aren't paying that much for the ticket. If you need to sit together, its $8 a ticket for peace of mind. I even saw people swapping around on our flight to CVG who wanted to sit together with no hassle so it's a roll of the dice really. If you want to be fed and hydrated, you can be responsible for yourself by bringing it into the airport or risk paying $19 for a bottle of water at the airport if you have to have something during the flight. Now that that's out of the way, Frontier was fantastic. The flight was generally on time, the planes are ~10 years old so they have some wear and tear, but its Airbus A319 so it's comfortable enough. It's ~$7 to watch 24 channels of DirecTV if you're into that sort of thing. Seats are about as close as any other airline, and I saw a rather large woman fit somewhat tightly into her seat but there wasn't any hassle. Bottom Line: If you want no frills just get me there on time and safely without any bloody layovers, then Frontier is for you. I would definitely recommend them. read more

If I could give this company a 0 I would. Don't be fooled by their cheap prices, they make up for it with other charges, such as bags, seat selection, and snacks during the flight. We booked a flight with frontier coming back from Las Vegas because it was the earliest flight we could get (delta was a red eye). The day we are flying out we received an email saying our flight was delayed 3 hours. Sadly we already had our transportation to the airport booked and could not change it. So we get to the airport at 2 for a now 7pm. The plane ended up arriving at 715 and we started boarding around 730, by time we took off it was more than 4 hours after the original scheduled time. I paid an extra $134.00 to have the front two seats on the plane, my wife hates flying and I wanted to make sure we would be sitting together. Once we were on the plane I notice my seat is covered with toilet paper that someone wrote on with sharpie, it read "do not use". I asked what was going on with the seat I paid extra to sit in and they responded "oh it's broken, but we have a seat in the back you can have". I told them I was traveling with my wife and wanted to sit by her, but the plane was full so I was out of luck. I called the 800 number the next day and requested a refund for the 2 seats I purchased, they offered a voucher for a future flight. Sorry but I have no plans on ever flying frontier again. After much complaining they finally agreed to refund the extra money I paid to select my seat, not my wife's. I did not listen to all the negative reviews I read but I wish I would have. The planes are older, smaller, and much more uncomfortable compared allegiant, delta, or southwest. Do not waste your time or money on this company! read more

If we could give zero stars we would. My daughter had a flight to SF on Monday morning. Got there one hour ahead of time. Only had to drop off her bag. No place to do that. Had to stand in line. Two people working, one a newbie who was incredibly slow. When my daughter got to the front of the line she was told by the slow worker that the computer locked her out since she was late :0(. The lady behind her in line was helped by the other worker and got on the airplane! My daughter had no alternative but to rebook for the next morning with a $50 charge! The next day she got on board and there were no drinks or snacks offered. Plus, a family at the gate found out their bags were too big to carry on. Their choices: pay $50 per person to rebook or pay $60 per person to check their bags at the gate. My daughter tried calling for a refund on the rebooking charge. Like others, I would give this airline zero stars if I could as well. Last time I flew Frontier airlines was 2 years ago and I can't believe how downhill it's gone since then. First off, they changed the flight times 1 month before departure and the only option to make any changes was to call. So I complied and was on hold for ONE HOUR. I don't understand why you give customers only this option for a task that took only 3 minutes when I actually got through. Night before my flight I checked-in and found out was checking bag in would be cheaper than carry-on so I bought the check-in option. I was dropped off early at the airport so I went and straight to the check out counter and was told I can't even check in any bags until 2 hours before my flight, which was not told me to at all during the check-in process otherwise I would have bought the more expensive carry-on option. Now I have liquids in my luggage and no longer have that option. I don't understand why you don't have space for check-in bags if you only have 1 flight going out of CVG anyways. There are so many fees and unnecessary policies for Frontier, it's not even worth it anymore when the fees added up just equals the same as a more expensive flight. Gate agents (Chelsea the lead in Cincinnati specifically) were literally the rudest people I have ever experienced in the dozens of flights I've taken. We asked if there were any upgrade seat options still available and were told in a very snarky tone that in the future we should upgrade at the time of purchase. Frontier Airlines is hard to beat. The prices are incredibly low and the airplanes are in great condition. The cheaper seats are not the most comfortable but you get what you pay for. My round trip flight to NYC last year had no hiccups and I had no complaints. Round trip to San Diego flying out was great. When we were coming back to cincy we had a 3 hr delay. I get it, these things happen. Apparently a lot with this airline. But they gave every one a $50 voucher for their next flight! How awesome! This is an absolute garbage airline. From what I hear, they used to be better before they were bought out. If you plan on flying somewhere with a stay more than 2 days, DO NOT FLY THIS AIRLINE. The only pro is the cheaper tickets, but everything, and I mean EVERYTHING else is a charge fee. Checked bag fee (common, but about $15 more than the larger airlines), Carry on fee (WHAT?! REALLY!??), pick your seat fee (well that is a very petty fee), no complimentary snacks. I mean where does the madness end? That beings said, I had the worse experience my first time flying this airline, which is why it got such a low rating. First off, I like digital tickets so I downloaded the app. The app, just like the airline is absolute garbage (no surprise). It retained almost NO information so I had to call customer service to add my TSA Traveler number (not hard but just an annoyance). Checked in on the app, got through TSA, then the ticket along with my check-in dissapears before I get to the gate. The gate attendant looked at me and spoke very condescending to me "Are you even on this flight, maybe you're mistaken". They finally looked me up and I was able to board. During the flight, the flight attendants were great and funny (one of the only perks of the airline). HOWEVER, those tray tables (if that's what you want to call them) were PITIFUL. I mean is it really a table, if it barely holds two drinks. Come on Frontier, you're not helping yourselves at all! On the way back, I was there a little early and the counter refused to take my checked bag. After another employee saying "yes we are accepting the CVG flight bags" I was able to check my bag (so annoying). After all of the fees are concerned, I paid about the same amount I would have paid for a larger/better airline. So unless I'm flying for a two day stay, I will not be flying this airline ever again. read more

I hate these airliners... Just today my robotics team had a world championship in Kentucky, and when trying to transport my friends robot, they ended up losing the bag. We had to call every team members parents back home in Vegas, and we had to have them report the occurrence after midnight in Vegas! Seriously, if I could kick these baggage workers in the balls, I so would. Losing a heavy VEX robot is beyond unbelievable. These airline workers seriously work like a bunch of grade school dropouts. Oh, and let's not forget, seating was nauseous. With such tiny ass tablet tables on the airplane, I found it shocking that my face is bigger than the table. We used them on our honeymoon and they lost our bags, told us that our backpacks were considered carry ons then told us we over paid and that we could claim the backpacks as personal items. While on the plane, the stewardess yelled at me for watching a movie on mute then apologized and said she yelled at the wrong person. Water on the plane was 3$ for a small cup. I wish it was possible to take away stars from Frontier Airlines. I was bumped from my flight in Las Vegas on Sunday March 8th. I told them to fix it ASAP because I needed to get home. The ill informed Frontier Representative couldn't figure out how to fix this mistake, waited 10 minutes for someone to help her, only to find out the flight was full and there was "nothing they could possibly do" other than I could go on standby or wait until 11 pm the next evening to get home. Mind you we had checked out, returned the rental, and I was traveling with friends. Somehow I was the only person this happened to. I asked if they could find me another flight to get me home and was then told Frontier doesn't partner with any other airlines, so she couldn't do that. I ended up having to buy a ticket from Delta (who I always flew with other than this trip) for $500+ to get home for silly responsibilities like my job, family... Frontier makes you send them an email to get your flights refunded, I have sat on the phone with them for more than 10 hours on separate occasions, just waiting for someone to pick up. They only answer phones from 8-11 am. With such a high call volume don't you think you would answer phones for a longer period of time? They sent me an automatic response informing me that I could hear back in 7 business days. Well it's been 3 weeks! And I will keep bothering them until they fix their mistake. After reading some Yelp reviews of this airline, I became apprehensive about my non-stop flight from LAX to CVG Cincinnati. However I was pleasantly surprised by an actually enjoyable flight! I downloaded a movie to watch on my phone and sat in the roomier seats in the upfront rows. I also had a nice lunch in LA at the Farmers Market. The attendants were pleasant and the pilot landed the plane smoothly. No complaints. read more

Omg! I'm so upset! I rushed to the bathroom 30min before departure time. 10 mins later the door was closed and the plane already left me and three other people. Horrible customer service -no sympathy -just kept repeating that it was my fault and that they called me. I only gave them one star because there was no lower rating available Terrible experience from start to finish. They lure you in with low advertised fares and then nickel and dime you to death. By the time you realize that the total cost is equivalent to that of premier airlines it is too late. Gate personnel are rude and obnoxious. The flight from Cincinnati to Tampa was nearly an hour late leaving. The entire flight crew showed up 20 minutes prior to departure claiming inclement weather caused the tardiness but ALL the passengers somehow managed to show up on time. By far the worst airline I've ever flown with! If I could give a zero, I would... Despite getting to our airport 3 hours early, it took over an hour to get up to the ticket counter, then we stood there for over 25 minutes because no one could find the credit we had from a cancelled trip during Covid. We waited and waited. After spending another 45 minutes waiting to get through security, running through the entire airport to the very last gate, the doors were already closed to the plane that was sitting right there. The gate agent was then rude (told us we should've gotten there earlier AND clearly wanted us to not be upset about missing our flight) but "managed" to fit us in on a flight the next morning. She wouldn't check any other companies for a flight sooner and gave us an 8 hour layover 5 hours from our final destination. After losing our rental car for the trip but still being charged over $400 for it, missing an entire 24 hours of our quick getaway but still playing for our room at the resort that night, they then lost my luggage on the next flight. I had no beach clothing except my bathing suit (thankfully), no flip flops, no toiletries, nothing! They finally called that they had it and I could drive over an hour to come get it with only 30 hours left of my vacation! Thankfully the baggage claim people at Orlando are reasonable and compassionate, so they just sent it back home for us to get when we got back. The ONLY positive interactions with the company were the baggage claim and flight attendants. We will NEVER fly Frontier again, despite still having some money left in our credit!!!! read more

Well, My Mom is at CVG and has been waiting all day for a flight. Frontier keeps going back and forth with their excuses about the weather and mechanical problems and they basically can't get their story straight. So they are talking loud and rude to the people that are delayed and are very disrespectful to the people that are paying their wages, THE CUSTOMER. Not only has my Mom been waiting, she don't drive so she is stuck there. I am 2,000 miles away or I would be there to do something, anything since the "Customer Service" people obviously are CLUELESS when it comes to being helpful to the customer. What else? Oh, yeah...they did not offer anything except a food voucher and the problem with this lanebrained bright idea is that ALL THE FOOD PLACES ARE CLOSED! You guys at Frontier are about a joke, unfortunately no one is laughing except for the jerks that work for Frontier. read more

If only there were a negative star! My granddaughter and girlfriend were scheduled out of CVG @ 6pm 4/14 to Ontario CA, stop in Minneapolis on to Denver for 10 hour layover on to CA, arrival Sunday morning returning Tuesday morning $500 x 2, they had prepaid b&b for 2 nights $360, rental car and concert tickets $236. They checked in on line 2 hours before departure, no problem indicated, fine. I dropped them at airport at 3:55, before I got off airport property the girls called saying flight was cancelled. I turned around, parked at an airport hotel and waited to see what would happen. They claimed weather in Minneapolis, they offered no transfer to another airline even though 4 other airlines had open seats to LA. No refund, no voucher for future flight, nothing. While the girls checked every other airlines for 1.5 hours, they were notified that frontier was going ahead with service to Denver, skirting Minneapolis ( which meant everyone already on the in bound flight plus any passengers in CVG heading to Minneapolis were now dumped in Cinti for days with no hotel or food or compensation). They made it to Denver where they found out they were stuck until Tuesday (the day after the concert) for the next flight to CA or 4...count them FOUR F***ING days till they could get back to CVG. No hotel, no voucher, no food voucher nothing. They spent $125 in Uber, $360 for 4 nights at a Ramada inn Denver plus eating out for 4 days and 2 days lost wages for both girls, total $2895! Bargain my ass! If they flew Delta they would have arrived safely had fun and returned home for total of $1600+. They are the worst! Do not fly with them, if you have to, get flight insurance cause you will get nothing from them. Just saw on news where Minnesota got 12" snow and had wind gusts up to 80 mph so the cancellation due to weather was valid but treatment of passengers and financial loss to passengers is inexcusable! UPDATE:. Just to keep it real. Picked up the girls today at CVG, they finally made it home (and flight landed 17 minutes early). While it took many hours on the phone and demanding time and time again to speak to the person's higher up (pretty impressive for 2-22 year olds, who by the way, were financially able to handle all this on their own without calling home for help!), Frontier finally, FINALLY, refunded the price of the air tickets and the cost of the Ramada inn Denver. They were still out money and a memory, but they made limoncello out of lemons and as they said when I picked them up..."we had a blast!". Very proud of those 2! read more
