Easy to get in and out but very busy the weekend after Thanksgiving and cash or check only. Also $5 extra to net your tree- ugh! A bit sad our tree was pretty dry by Christmas Day, although we cut it down pursuant it looked pretty fresh it did not smell of a fresh tree nor last as long as the ones we've purchased from Home Depot or Lowe's that are shipped down from Oregon. read more

Just got home from getting our 2021 Christmas tree from here. Good selection of trees and I really appreciate being able to go on a weekday to avoid the weekend crowds. All trees are one price. Makes it a bit easier. Trees were $90, which is up from prior year, but prices are up everywhere, so still competitive. Been here the last couple years to get a tree. This is our go to place for Christmas trees every year since 2008! We love the picturesque tree valley and the way the light comes in through the trees when the sun is setting. A beautiful place and well maintained. Not sure due to COVID if restrooms will be available but that was always a plus especially with young children. My boyfriend, Victor, and I decided to drive up Highway 17 and cruise through the Mountains to find a farm this year. There were so many different farms but I am so happy that we stumbled across Frosty's Christmas Tree Farm. We were instantly greeted by a young man named Giovanni who guided us and provided us with the saw. We also met his father, Johnny. He was very generous, trustworthy and friendly. We immediately felt welcomed by their hospitality. It was amazing to see Johnny and his son, Giovanni work, smile and laugh together. I love seeing this because it brings a warmth to the holiday season. Cutting a Christmas tree is a beautiful start of the holidays and is a special tradition for us. It's the most wonderful time of the year! As Victor and I walk through the farm, we were impressed with the beautiful selection of trees. We happened to go all the way to the bottom to get a very special tree. The branches were strong and the needles were fan-like green feathers that gave the tree charisma and uniqueness. As we walked back up the hill carrying our tree, Johnny said that we were the first to cut the Cedar Tree planted at the bottom of the hill. The Cedar Tree is like no other Christmas Tree we have had growing up. We were very pleased with this special tree. So many trees and a great selection! My family and I went to pick out a tree and there were so many good ones to choose from that it was hard to pick out the perfect one! The workers were super friendly and if you need help tying your tree to the car there's someone there to help. The price isn't bad at all - $60 for a tree. You can buy mistletoe for $2 too. There's also free coffee and hot chocolate. What more can you ask for! read more

Great selection of Christmas trees. There are tons, rows and rows. The scenery is beautiful! Be prepared to hike a little so wear comfy shoes. Windy road going up and they could use some mirrors on the road or something to make it a bit safer. This place will give you a saw, twine for free. The netting is $5. They offer hot chocolate. Many people were having tailgate style picnics when we were there. Definitely a family outing. Highly recommend this place! read more

Went up on Saturday afternoon. Wasn't too crowded. The selecton of trees was great both Noble firs and the more traditional. It was easy to walk around and find something. Went today for the first time, arrived between 1130 & 1200 and it looked crowded. Parking was super easy, right near the free hot cocoa! There is s lot of parallel spots, but some regular spots too. We decided to find our tree first, because it's always the longest, most painful task... 10 minutes later we had the perfect tree picked and cut!!! We had quite a few awesome trees to pick from, which is great after a few rough few years of tree hunting! We had a tailgate picnic behind our truck and enjoyed the gorgeous day and the Christmas cheer! They have netting for $5 Mistletoe for $2 Free candy canes And Wonderful staff!! Note the drive from Bear Creek on Skyline is single lane so drive with caution, but not a bad drive at all!! read more

Today my husband, two kids & I visited Frosty's. It is our 3rd year there. We like their selection of fine trees, big hills, and plenty of parking. The road up there is a typical Santa Cruz mountain road-- windy, hairpin turns, etc. Today, however, when we got up there, we realized that we had no cash or check. We asked the fellow at the exit stand (where you pay) if they would accept Visa. They don't. Instead, the fellow just asked that I write down my name & phone number. Then he gave me one of their business cards with their address and asked that I put a check in the mail, "today, tomorrow, oh, sometime next week." This was my first time at a Christmas tree farm. We bought our dog and she had a blast. Lots of trees to choose from. It was raining and we didn't bring an umbrella (should have; thought it would let up but it didn't). Still had a wonderful time and brought home a beautiful tree. As a recent transplant to the Bay Area, going to a Christmas tree farm rather than the tree lot behind a gas station was a completely new and awesome holiday experience for me. We initially tried to go to another lot which allegedly had cheaper trees but they weren't open on Friday. Another friend had told us about Frosty's so up to Skyline we went. It was VERY easy to find with multiple signs and easy to drive into entrance. I was in awe of the number of trees and different kinds! Just be prepared to be there a little while trying to find the PERFECT tree....and we did find the most perfect tree I have ever had. A gorgeous 12 foot douglas fir. And to top it off, all trees are only $60!!! The same size and type of tree in lots in Los Gatos run around $170. Plus I love that the trees grow back from the same stump, so you have to leave a couple branches at the bottom, who knew? You better believe it is going to be a holiday tradition from now on!! This tree farm is a family tradition with my fiancé's family, they have been cutting down their Christmas tree every year. As we raise our daughter we thought what better way to keep the tradition alive than to start cutting it down for our little family. We brought my niece and two nephews as well as our daughter, so it was our extra special first year of Christmas tree shopping. I had asked my fiancé if they accepted cash only and he assured me they accepted card, I'm thinking for someone who has been here every year you should know haha. Anyway we picked out our tree, and tied it down, went to pay and he said cash or check only. I immediately gave the look to my fiancé, and he runs to his mom's car and she has 30 and he had 25, the total cost was $65, I was so embarrassed. Would we have to leave the tree and come back? NOPE, they accepted the amount we had. For future reference I will always make sure we have cash for our future traditions. Only came here because my favorite place was closed this year. What a disappointment. This place is the worst. If you want to walk up and down a hill all day and never see all the options, be talked to like a child and feel unwelcome from the minute you enter, Frosty's "we cater to rich yuppies" is the place to go. Unfriendly, rude staff who are unhelpful to the handicapped. They helped to make the day I look forward to all year, the worst day of the year. A yuppie place I need not vist again. I am going to stick to the real Santa Cruz mountains where people are friendly,welcoming, fun-loving, and want to consistently make your Christmas Tree cutting experience the best it can be. I really hope my usual place nearer to Bonny Doon is open next year so I can have the Christmas cutting experience I am always looking for and get. Don't go here if you are a SC Mountain resident, you will be unhappy and frustrated. Giving an obligatory star because I have to.. and they DID have trees, after all..
