Our remodel process had several challenges, including miscommunications, installation issues, and delays in follow-up service. We had to take on some fixes ourselves due to gaps in execution, and multiple post-install service calls were missed, adding to the frustration. That said, the company did come back to address some of the issues. They trimmed out a vent and cabinet, provided the shelving we had requested, and offered additional fixes at an extra cost. While the process wasn't smooth, we do appreciate that they ultimately made an effort to correct some of the problems. I was very impressed that they took a bad situation and did their best to make it right!! read more

Ripping out my 30-year-old kitchen is the most stressful and expensive project I have ever undertaken. But in hindsight, I realize that Frugal Kitchens made it exponentially easier than it might have been had I chose another contractor. Before choosing Frugal, I shopped for months, did a plethora of research, and worked with several contractors, including Lowe's and Home Depot. I almost gave up on having a beautiful but affordable kitchen. Selling points for me were (1) Frugal's all-inclusive pricing, which includes everything but the back splash materials--even hardware is included, which you select right in the showroom and get to see on your cabinet choice (2) Very fair & competitive price for the design & options I wanted (3) Frugal coordinates 100% of the project pieces, minimizing my leg work (4) "Working kitchen" in 5 days. Every other contractor told me I would have to wait up to 6 weeks for the counter top and sink, making the kitchen unusable for a ridiculous length of time (5) Beautiful showroom and quality cabinets. The leg work I had to do was minimal: (1) go to the granite manufacturer (Frugal gives you a list of manufacturers with whom they work) and pick out granite slab (2) purchase back splash materials and have materials on site before installation. Frugal gave me the exact measurements for the back splash area and I simply took them to Floor & Decor, picked out the tiles I wanted, and Floor & Decor got all the materials together for me based on Frugal's measurements (3) purchase desired new appliances, have them delivered, and email Frugal the specs for the appliances. Frugal's price quote includes expert installation of these appliances and the cost & installation of the granite counter top. Were there glitches? Of course. This was a huge project. But the glitches were minimal, were handled professionally and quickly, and mostly the result of miscommunication and my not understanding a particular process. The cabinets I chose took just under 5 weeks to arrive at Frugal's warehouse. Frugal scheduled my installation and emailed me a job schedule that detailed everything that would happen on each of the five days and what would happen after those five days. Each part of the project was completed by a sub-contractor who is a professional in that particular field and who has a solid relationship with Frugal. These were not temp workers. All of them were experienced professionals. Day 1: cabinet installers ripped out and hauled off old cabinets & installed new cabinets. They also moved old appliances to my garage (I chose not to have them hauled off). Day 2: cabinet installers added hardware & crown molding to cabinets & made adjustments I asked for. When they were finished, the granite fabricators templated my granite counter top. Day 3: Drink wine and wait for counter top :-) . Day 4: Granite counter top installed. Day 5: Electricians & plumber installed faucets, garbage disposal, new recessed lighting, under-cabinet lighting, and 4 new appliances. They did not leave until we confirmed that everything was working. By the end of day 5, yes, I had a gorgeous working kitchen! The back splash was installed the following week. This crew was nothing short of amazing. The foreman called me the day before and asked to come by to see the parameters of the job and to make sure I had all the necessary materials. Thank goodness he did that because I was missing a few things that I promptly bought. Then, on the day of installation, he called me again to let me know his crew was on the way. I can't say enough good things about the subcontractors: they were a pleasure to work with, they cleaned up really well each day, they arrived on time and worked until the job was done, and they were absolute professionals and experts in their fields. I was especially impressed with George, the back-splash foreman, and with DeBeer Granite, the granite fabricator and installer. All were polite and very willing to answer my questions, explain things, and make minor changes. The electricians even installed an extra recessed light for me, which was not on my job order. I truly appreciated this flexibility. At the walk-thru, my punch list was really short with only a few minor fixes, meaning just about everything got done right the first time. 3 weeks later Rich, the owner, completed the punch-list fixes and also did a few extras for me like run to Lowe's to buy and install hinge restricters to keep a couple of doors from opening too close to other doors. The office personnel at Frugal are also great and very customer-forward, especially Holly, Sam, and Liz. Jeff, my designer and sales person, bent over backwards, even making a second-measurements trip to my house at my request to assure me that everything in the final drawing could actually work in my kitchen. Very glad I chose Frugal Kitchens. They do exactly what they say they will do & more, & if something isn't right, they make it right. read more

I have honestly never had a worse experience with a contractor. I would NEVER recommend them. the owner of the company Richard is a bully. I contacted Trust Dale about them because they list themselves as a Trust Dale partner and the Trust Dale team said they severed ties with then several years ago due to the complaints they received. I met with there kitchen designer in November 2021 to start the process. it took until January of 2022 to actually get the kitchen contract in place due to various supplier issues. now it is July of 2023 and kitchen still not complete. The office staff is a nightmare! the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. This company takes no and I mean no responsibility for the project. There is a different person to deal with on each issue. They demand payment for work that is not done. If they took the time and energy to do the job that they take threatening you about money for work not done they might actually be able to complete their projects. My drawers don't open and shut properly . I have plywood shims under my counter legs!!! They gave me approval for a range hood to order and then told me Ingot the wrong one! Another 4 weeks trying to sort that out. My list is absolutely endless. Google reviews are terrible so I believe most of the yelp reviews are fake. NEVER hire this company! read more

We recently began the planning process and it miserably failed before it even got started. We had high hopes of working with Frugal and the first meeting started Great. It went swiftly downhill after the first meeting. This should have been a sign to go elsewhere. There was NO communication, phone calls not returned, follow ups not made and NO EXPLANATIONS OR APOLOGIES about the circumstances. When we got a less than half effort attempt to provide a design from the second designer (the first one left us hanging with NO EXPLANATION) it was nothing like what we submitted to Frugal. The estimated price was twice the amount we thought it would be from the unacceptable design, Our suggestion to anyone that is considering using Frugal is DON'T!! read more

Frugal Kitchens & Cabinets just finished installing our new kitchen and we love it. The owner, Richard, worked with us to give us the kitchen for the amount of money we wanted to spend. Andrea at the North Druid Hills showroom was our designer and did an excellent job. She had ideas for the design we had not considered and appreciated the input. Paul, the supervisor, delivered the cabinets on time on the day of our appointment. Rodney removed the old cabinets and installed the new ones. He was very knowledgeable, personable and professional. The plumber and electrician showed up on time and were in and out in just a few hours. Our project took longer than five days through no fault of Frugal. We had a planned business trip and had to halt installation until our return. The job was completed on the predetermined date after our trip. We recommend Frugal Kitchens & Cabinets for your kitchen needs. read more

If you fall for the "in and out in 5 days" as I did , you are in for a very big surprise and disappointment. They now tell me that means a "working " kitchen in 5 days. Yes I can use my stove and refrigerator. The actual work started on May 31st nd the final work (painting) is not scheduled until Aug 7. Also don't think this is a custom job. They use stock sized cabinets that are put into your space and then send a carpenter to fill up all the dead spaces left. The actual workmen did their job well, but the planning and efficiency of the overall project is not acceptable. My advice, hire a real kitchen designer who actually makes cabinets to fit exactly into your space. It may cost you more, but will save a lot of time and frustration. read more

We used Frugal Kitchens 4 years ago for our kitchen remodel and were satisfied with their work. We went back to them over a month ago for a small reconfig. The "designer" took weeks to respond to my calls (admitted he forgot), seemed pretty clueless, and when he finally managed to come up with a quote - well over a month from my original inquiry -he was TRIPLE the price of competitors not to mention his design was fraught with design flaws. We had the kitchen completely replaced in our sixties ranch. After being disappointed with big box store design process, we went to Andrea at the Toco Hills location. After our first appointment we had a design that we loved and a price for the cabinets and granite category that we chose. After a digital measure, Andrea came to our house to finalize the design and contract. At this time she suggested changes that added additional storage - we loved it. The contract spelled out what we were supplying and exactly what work Frugal would do. In our case we supplied the appliances, farmhouse sink, faucet, garbage disposal, island hood, backsplash tile and grout. We requested that the demolition and electrical work be done one week ahead of the cabinet installation. This allowed us time to do wall and ceiling repairs as needed prior to the cabinet placement. Cabinet Installstion began 6 weeks later as planned. Once they get started they move at great speed, with trades people scheduled for 5 consecutive days as promised in the contract. For the most part, the trades people were courteous, efficient and professional. They were there for the stated job and nothing more - once done they were off to the next job. This worked well until there was a snag in the plumbers job. He was there to install the sink and the standard disposal flange did not fit - I needed an extended flange. The company tried to get the part but couldn't. I promptly ordered it from HD but then had pay for the installation myself - the plumber would not to come back to do it. This seems like a small thing to me that should have been taken care of by Frugal. They knew I had a farm sink and could have alerted me that I may need it. All in all, that was a very minor issue. The project went smoothly and we are delighted with the new kitchen especially the design by Andrea. read more

Frugal Kitchens completed my kitchen redesign about 7 years ago and we were 100% satisfied. Holly, the designer, worked with me until we came up with exactly what I wanted. She had great ideas and suggestions and was patient as I kept tweaking the design. Once we agreed upon everything, everything was ordered and the demo began. They finished the work right on time and everything was perfect. The installation team put in a lot of hard work and were very precise. Everything went so smoothly, which was a pleasant surprise, as I've never had projects go from start to finish without a hitch before!! I am still loving my kitchen and would not have done anything differently. Today, I went in to get some touch up paint and was met with the same level of friendliness and professionalism as before. I used Frugal Kitchens because they were a "Trust Dale" rated business. They removed a wall separating my kitchen and living room, they gutted my kitchen and installed a new kitchen, appliances and floor. Total cost approx $30K. Overall, I am happy with the results. There are a few things that weren't so great: 1. I worked with a designer and had a wine rack and bench in the design. The end result was terrible, the wine rack was too narrow and barely held a few bottles of wine. I would have expected the designer to persuade me not to do the bench and the wine rack would be better. They did not, and I was told "you signed off on the design - we gave you what you wanted". They offered to redo it for $750 and after waiting 3 months of hearing "we'll get to it". I hired someone else to fix it. 2. Anything we weren't happy with was our fault. It was our fault that the contractors threw away our garbage disposal and we had to buy another one. Scratches in the stainless sink are our fault (though we had our previous stainless sink for 15 years and it never got scratched), chips in the quartz counter tops are our fault. 3. The appliance delivery people left a moving blanket for us to cover our dining room table, Rich took it saying it was his. My overall perception of Frugal Kitchens is that they have more business than they know what to do with. They don't care about the customer experience and can be difficult to deal with. Thankfully, we love our kitchen. They completed with a month. The contractors they used did a great job. I will be even happier when the wine rack is done, which should be in a few more weeks. read more

We used Frugal for new cabinets, counter, sink, and discard old appliances and install new appliances. We live our new cabinets they are great quality and look beautiful. The granite counter looks great. We had a working kitchen in 5 days. They installed our new appliances without issue. They have a very clear system in place. As long as you stay in your lane, they deliver. Do not deviate from the course set. We had one cabinet that was incorrectly measured, but they brought us a new one about 2 weeks later. You must have set an appointment with the granite people, otherwise they will not have your sample slabs pulled. Also I would recommend you go to the granite fabricator when they layout the template of your counter, otherwise they choose the areas of the slab that are used versus discarded. Day one was amazing, all our stuff ripped out in about 1.5 hours by just one guy. Very efficient, No dumpster, the delivery trailer is used to haul away your old cabinets. They kept the place clean and didn't create a lot of debris. I spent about 2 hours with the sales guy thinking through every cabinet, function, etc. We chose a lot of rollout drawers, added a stand up tray cabinet and spice rack. Take the time and make sure every cabinet is what you want. I asked upfront what caused the most problems for negative reviews and generally it is lack of understanding one another and/or assumptions. So keep asking questions. We will use them again, they did a very good job at a reasonable price. $14k for us. read more

To simplify this we remodeled our kitchen using frugal and will never use them again because of the way we were treated and messed up the measuring. Two cabinets had to be replaced because the person who measured measured wrong. That in itself took forever to order new cabinets. The contractor we used also found a different cabinet place because he was tired of the way frugal was treating his costumers and messing up. read more

Simply said, this is clearly a business that has too much business to ultimately care about its customers. The online chat/initial appointment process is laborious and broken. The design process in the show room was absolutely excellent. You do NOT get a complete price for the work during that visit regardless of what the website tells you. You also have to do all of the legwork and picking out the matching backsplash tile and flooring (they recommend Floor and Decor) all without giving you samples of the cabinets to match them up, which requires a lot of running back-and-forth between their show room and Floor and Decor. It took me over a week and a half of continued follow ups and I never could get appointment with the tile person they referred me to nor, could I even get a returned response to my emails and multiple phone calls to him. The "laser measuring" guy made an appointment at 9 AM to arrive. He called and moved it to 3 PM, then he called and moved it to 5 PM and then he ultimately he called and moved it to 6 PM all the same day. Obviously, two weeks past my original appointment of which I was told and expected a complete price quote, I still did not have any idea of what my total cost would be. I voiced my concern to the customer service team and they were responsive and sympathetic and advised the general manager Doug, would be out at my house at 7 AM to go over everything and I could also explain to him all of the issues I had encountered to date. I tried to systematically lay out each issue factually with details and before I was even 1/3 of the way finished he interrupted me and began to be very defensive and essentially said the tile guy was very busy, I didn't get a sample of the door because they hold cost down due to people not returning them, he had no explanation on why the laser measuring technician kept moving the appointment book, we sure there was a very good reason for it. As I responded back, he interrupted me again and basically told me "he could hear in my voice that there was no way they could make me happy and that this was not going to work". I tried to continue to reason with him and explained that I was trying to point out the various disconnects that his customer service team told me to do when he arrived and he ended the conversation and left my home. Later, learned that he is actually the owner and his temperament and lack of customer service commitment explains exactly why there were so many fundamental failures along the way. I have no idea if this company is competitively priced or not as I never compared them to anyone else... I was actually going to make a $30,000 purchase based on advertising and their business model (I freely admit that I was not being the most diligent consumer for a big ticket item here). What I can tell you is unless you want to feel like you are your own general contractor, you have an extreme amount of patience, you want to feel like one of many many customers in which they are ultimately simply too busy to give you basic customer service, I would steer clear. Otherwise, if you have a ton of extra time on your hands and patience and want to be treated as a simple commodity among many, feel free to engage in what I considered a laborious and painful process. Now three weeks later, back to the drawing board but, I am confident I will find a company that actually values my business and values the commitments they make to their customers and will honor them. read more

I would think twice about hiring these folks to do your kitchen! I have photos of their work and it's not worth the 18,000.00 to 20,000.00 they charge for the 5 day install of a kitchen.
