I normally find a fountain to fill up my water bottle, or buy an iced tea or diet pop drink. Things changed when I saw Green Carrot. It had smoothies, fresh juices, salads, sandwiches, and more. A cold-pressed juice sounded fun. I had never had one. I tend to make smoothies at home with a celery base. There were two cold-pressed juices here that had celery in it. I opted for the E3 green, which did not have ginger in it. I find that ginger wants to take over whatever dish or drink it's in. Just go away! The E3 green had E3 live (blue-green algae), cucumber, celery, spinach, carrot, and lemon. I liked everything in it. There was a woman in front of me getting a sandwich toasted up. Once she got her food, it was my turn to pay for my juice. The woman behind the counter was friendly and great. She rang up my juice. It wasn't cheap. It was four cents shy of $9. Yikes! That was the price to drink fresh cold-pressed juice. That's okay. It was my first time. I paid with a credit card. Done! While waiting to board my plane, I had some. It was yummy. I could taste the celery, cucumber, carrot, and lemon the most. It's likely because I put all those items in my green smoothie. I barely tasted spinach or the E3 live. Perhaps that's all good. It was a small bottle. I feel like I was savouring each sip to stretch out my $9 juice... haha! The E3 green hit the spot. I should be able to save up for another one when I'm back in Winnipeg. I had a "strong like a bull" smoothie because I was told it had more flavor than the vanilla…read moresmoothie. Not super sure if that's true but it did taste good. This smoothie might be for you If you like that wholesome but bland organic taste...then you might like this smoothie. The flavor was that of an organic vegan chocolate granola bar. It was an okay taste. The price wasn't too pricey either. I prefer my smoothies a bit sweeter and for the chocolate to taste like chocolate and the peanut butter to be salty sweet like the common usual.

I flew out to Winnipeg on Canada Day. Again. Like Groundhog Day…read more I had taken the same flight the previous day. Due to the WestJet pilot-engineer strike, many flights were cancelled and Air Canada felt it. I felt it as an Air Canada customer. It was the perfect storm. It took me over one hour to drop my luggage on a baggage carousel that was functional half of the time. I missed my flight thanks to this issue and checking in at a kiosk. Things happen. My flight on Canada Day was great. My luggage had already been checked through the day before. I didn't need to deal with carousel issues. I basically hopped on my flight with my backpack and all was great. I got to Winnipeg just before 10 am. The thought was to go to Jollibee for breakfast. I got my rental vehicle and drove out in the rain. I parked between the Jollibee, and this Ben & Florentine. I knew that the latter was a breakfast chain. I decided to go for it and dashed in without an umbrella. It gives you a feel of hitting a more modern Smitty's or Denny's. I waited for someone to seat me for maybe five minutes. The occasional staffer looked at me and then disappeared to fetch meals in the kitchen. It allowed me to take photos. Finally, a woman came over. I got seated at a two-person table, next to the kitchen. It just meant that I'd get my food faster when it was ready. I got Brad as my server. He was polite, competent, and a delight. I started off with a Diet Pepsi and a glass of water. I got a glass with ice, which made downing my pop refreshing. The glass of water was great, too. With the weird start that I had with travel, I deserved a mimosa. I went ahead and ordered it. I also got the bacon and caramelized apple benedict on an English muffin, with home fries and fruit. I got my mimosa first. It was in a fluted glass. I got the original, which had orange juice and prosecco. It was refreshing and fizzy. It was a nice start to my breakfast. The eatery was almost at full capacity. My food didn't take as long as I had anticipated. I loved my bacon and caramelized apple benedict on an English muffin. The only downside was that my eggs were overdone. If you are looking for an oozy egg, you got a dry run cutting through each egg. I sometimes feel like an overhard egg. Other times, I want to cut through the egg and have it run. Although it was the latter, I was still happy with it. The hollandaise sauce was yummy on top of it. The bacon and caramelized apple worked so well together. I got crispy salt from the bacon with the sweetness of the diced apple. The English muffin was perfect. It was effortless cutting through it. My benedict had a mix of monterey jack and cheddar cheeses. Frankly, it didn't need them. Luckily, I didn't get a whole lot of them in my meal. I enjoyed the home fries. I typically get bored of them. These ones were crunchy on the outside and seasoned nicely. I dipped each one in ketchup. I was happy. I am still on a fruit kick. I got a nice medley of fruit. Grapes. Watermelon and honeydew melon chunks. Strawberry and banana slices. Yummy and perfect! Brad asked how my meal was halfway through my stay. He was a professional. He was great. I got my bill promptly. He fetched the payment machine. I paid with a credit card and tipped. He thanked me for dropping by. I wished him a great day. He reciprocated. I used the washroom before I left. It's in the right corner when you walk into the eatery. It was clean and spacious. I had a decent time having breakfast here. I'm glad that I stopped by. I'd return to try more items on the menu. I waited over 30 minutes for my Healthy Breakfast wrap with Avocados. It was pretty yummy. This place is packed full of people in the afternoon, they are very popular. My cranberry juice was yummy. The "Fraisinette" smoothie seemed a bit small but it was delicious and healthy. Very mangoe strawberry strong.
