Strawberry Banana Smoothie and Banana Bread Muffin!
    Julie S.

LOVED this place. The smoothies and muffins are awesome and healthy too! Even my picky 7yr old was a fan! I can't wait to go back. This place is a hidden gem that could easily be looked over. Prices are a little steep but the quality is there. Very small and cute place to visit.

Excellent quality, fabulous tastes, and friendly atmosphere. Fruits & Roots has a wonderful vibe and lots of organic freshness. I got the PB Banana Bowl and absolutely loved it. Even the granola is homemade with almond butter, so it's a treat that you can feel good about. Looking forward to great things for this new business.

Açaí Bowl and Carrot Refresh juice.

A little hidden gem on old route 30 by the Westmoreland mall. Don't miss it when you drive by like I probably did a bunch of times. Anyway, I'm so thankful to finally have açaí bowls in greensburg. Very delicious and definitely competes with any other açaí bowl I've had elsewhere. Carrot juice is delicious, and I can't wait to try the others. Very cute environment and friendly staff. If you've never had this type of food before, give it a try! The smoothie bowls are huge and well worth the money. You will be full. I also appreciate that they use actual bowls, silverware, and paper straws!

Smoothies were so delicious! Coffee was great too. We were out of towners but we would be regulars if we lived close by.

Açaí bowl was amazing. I had this in Brazil 5 years ago. This was the best I've had in the U.S. by far!

I was in the mood for a smoothie bowl and our usual spot closed, so we came here.

The atmosphere was great, the staff was awesome, especially our server Lisa H. and the lasagna was the best I've ever had. If I am ever within an houir drive I will be back for sure. My wife, who's Italian, wants to take this +1 hour trip several times a year just to come here because it reminds her of the various "Mom & Pop" restaurants of her hometown in northeast PA. It sits in downtown DuBois with plenty of parking options nearby. The restaurant is good sized but it also does a lot of business so plan ahead on the weekends. The inside has a cozy/hometown feel with pictures of their family all over the walls. I don't think much has changed to the interior in those 20 years and that's okay by me. For this outing we opted for the antipasta salad, Italian wedding soup, veal parm and stuffed manicotti. Their dishes are more traditional italian (i.e. not olive garden) and they offer lunch, half, or full-sized portions. Their gravy has a good balance between sweet and savory. They also make a great fresh baked loaf of bread and they're happy to bring several to the table throughout the course. It was a special occasion so we closed out the night with their famous strawberry cheesecake. Service was excellent and the bill, with several drinks, was around $60 for 2. This is not a chain; it has character, it's not polished but it's a true gem of spot in rural PA. I'm glad places like this still exist!

Normally you order online and then set a pickup time at his house on the weekend. I was fortunate to run into Mami's bakes at the Carnegie Farmer's market where he had a booth set up. I liked being able to see his collection of sweets in person. For the holidays he has created different "baked pies" that contain apples, pumpkin, pears, and tofu. All items are made without preservatives meaning you must consume them within 1-2 days or otherwise freeze them I had previously had his vegan brownie which was outstanding so this visit I purchased a chocolate chip pumpkin bread, a Cuban coffee cake, and two fried pies. Since my son is vegan I normally buy for him so he can enjoy these treats however, I got the pumpkin bread for myself. The pumpkin bread was sealed with a food sealer so when I got it home I dove into it. You can taste the chocolate chips in it and the bread is so soft and so moist that you would hardly know it was vegan. My son previously had one of Noel's buckeye brownies and a Chai cupcake. He thoroughly enjoyed them. In a city where there is little vegan places Mami's bakes certainly fills the bill here. Noel has been to Vegfest to promote his baked goods. I've been thoroughly pleased with my purchases up to now and am looking forward to seeing his Christmas offerings. Mami's bakes has an online ordering sit where you can place your food orders. The business home is located in Carnegie. Noel does take the time to answer any questions and provide you with guidance as to storage and reheating his baked goods.

The employees spoke nicely with me. They thought that I had ordered a coffee, so thankfully I noticed and repeated myself. Some indoor seating was available. The Mexican cocoa tasted very good. I also browsed their artists' pieces on the top floor but skipped looking at the Crafted, by Blackbird area in the adjacent building. The merchandise included much Christmas decor during that time of year.
