I really don't like writing negative reviews but I'm just saying it like it is. About 30 min or so from Sedona in the middle of nowhere which is fine. The real problem is how dirty this place is. After driving a long trip from northern Nevada my mom and I were excited about authentic frybread. The problem is the people operating are nice but the place is dirty. When we arrived the lady was counting a shit ton of money and then rinsed her hands in dirty ass still water. Not sure if she used soap it looked nasty. Then she heated up the oil which smelled . It see was nasty old cheap oil. Just the ingredients were all around bad. Cheap greasy nasty cheap oil tasting. a little too crunchy and brittle. I think during covid they should have used gloves at least. They didn't use masks. They just seemed careless towards safety. I get that it's a tiny table stand in the middle of the desert which is cool and authentic. But showing cleanliness? no excuses. my mom had diherreha the whole trip and stomach problems after eating this cheap garbage. I missed out on getting fry bread in Navajo country, but luckily this stand was only a hop, skip and jump away from Flagstaff. Luckily for me, I caught the owner right before closing and he whipped me up the traditional salt flavored fry bread. Once I had it in hand we chatted about his business and the local happenings. I couldn't have asked for a better snack and company! Also, additionally to the bread, they do make Navajo tacos on the weekend and variations thereof. My family and I were headed to Sedona for a weekend of touring, but we stopped by Montezuma Castle before heading there. While driving to the castle, we noticed this small frybread stand and thought it was pretty cool of them to have a little stand! We were in a rush to see the castle before it closed at 5 PM, so we didn't get a chance to stop by after because it was getting really dark! We stopped by again on the way back from Sedona (we were heading back to San Diego). Our family of 8 was curious and when we approached them, they only had enough dough for 5 frybread so we just ordered them all! It's $4 each and you can ask for different toppings: cinnamon sugar, powdered sugar, honey, and there was one more, but I've forgotten what it was. We got 4 cinnamon sugar and 1 powdered sugar to share with everyone. Tasted great! There were a few people that came right after we ordered and the guy making the bread apologized that it'll take 20 minutes to make new dough. That showed that he didn't make a bunch ahead of time and ensured that the batch he was making was as fresh as possible! It was great knowing that, but felt bad for the customers later. He suggested all of the customers to check out Montezuma Castle in the meantime while he makes the dough. So protip: stop by here and see if there's bread! Two of the nicest people. One a wonderful lady who sold us a beautiful sand cast round ornament with a Navajo horseman and a cute dream catcher. She also had a beautiful turtle with burnt horsehair designed on it. Behind her in a higher stand was this incredibly nice guy who very simply used a super simple dough he made into perfectly light fried fluffy platters of fry bread. Drizzled with honey and even had to lure a honeybee away from the bread I was sharing with my wife. One child had cinnamon sugar with honey, other (like the one we had just drizzled honey. They were together in an empty dirt parking lot opposite of the local casino. So simple yet not to be missed on our drive from the Grand Canyon to Phoenix. read more

We loved Mitchell and Emma's frybread --and great humor-- oh so much!! Felt so at home with them. Missed the Indian Tacos this time, but heard those are available around the holidays, so we're definitely going back! We also got a beautiful sandpainted ornament. There is a Frybread stand on the side of the road after you turn left to go towards Montezuma's Castle from I-17... You should stop in! The frybread costs four dollars and has an assortment of toppings to choose from. It was large enough for my partner-in-crime and I to share. There is also a little stand set up where they sell horse-hair pottery, jewelry etc. They lady at the stand, Irma, is a sweetheart and she knows lots about the area. She told us that Montezuma's Castle was free that day so we decided to go. Initially we were just driving by and were hungry, but it turned into quite the delightful chat!! Luckily on the way from Sedona to Phoenix I saw this stand near our route on google maps - so we had to stop by. The people running the stand were super friendly and there were so many options for frybread! We got the honey and the bean&cheese, which were both delicious. I would highly recommend stopping off I-17 for this snack! It's right on the Yavapai-Apache nation on the way to Montezuma Castle. Mitch runs this roadside stand with a red, duct tape lettered sign. He makes each piece fresh and it is DELICIOUS. He also sells some lovely Native jewelry and artifacts. As we pulled into a small stand we met a wonderful Native American man who made traditional Frybread with either honey, cinnamon, powdered sugar, or salt.
