My family and I can't thank Carla and Adrian enough for the supportive and professional service they have provided to us. Hospitality and sympathy are two qualities that are very hard to come by these days, but Gardens of Eden provided both with ease. As our first family passing, this establishment made it smooth and simple for us. On behalf of our loving mother, sister, aunt, daughter, Maria Reyna, the Martinez family thanks the Gardens of Eden for the value and care they showed to our loved one.

So I decided to go with Garden of Eden. I initially spoke to Carla who gave me the estimate. She and her staff were so empathetic, accommodating and honest with the whole process that it was so refreshing from I had experience with the other mortuary...the complete opposite. The staff even helped me when I was in Europe with different time zones. I believe This is the best option for funeral services in Imperial Valley. Thank you Carla and team for your tremendous support and kindness during the grieving of our family!

Last Friday, I went there and was shocked by what I saw. The place was almost empty. As we parked…read moreour car, I noticed a group of staff members--six men using two buggies--who appeared to be doing cleanup work. What immediately caught my attention was their behavior. They were pulling out flowers in a rude and careless manner, talking and laughing among themselves, showing complete disrespect. What was even worse was that they seemed to be selectively picking only the most beautiful bunches of flowers and leaving behind the older or simpler ones. At one point, one of the men tried to separate a bunch of flowers that looked new, but because he couldn't do it properly without damaging them, he ended up taking the entire bouquet. When they noticed that I was watching them, they quickly left and disappeared over the hill. Five to ten minutes later, they returned with empty buggies, but instead of going back to the same area, they headed in the opposite direction. However, this did not stop me from observing them continuing the same behavior, which I confirmed when I passed by them on my way out. To me, the staff's actions were more than suspicious. I understand that cleanup is sometimes necessary, but this was clearly not a simple cleaning. It appeared to be a selective removal of flowers. For what purpose, I do not know, but the situation felt very wrong. My concern is whether the administration is aware of this behavior or if this is being treated as a private matter benefiting only the staff.

The people who run/manage this place are a poor representation of professionalism, they lack empathy, compassion, and remorse. People who are grieving the loss of loved ones should not have to deal with such immoral individuals. It saddens me to know that their lack of moral compass will continue to be tolerated, and they will continue to mistreat mourning family members who have concerns over them disposing of purchased items being left on the plots/gravesites that their groundskeepers are removing.

Current family/management won't move until they receive payment for internment. When my mother-in-law passed we made the arrangements which took excessively long because you had to catch the daughter or daughter-in-law who was very rude! We paid cash for her headstone but still had to wait 2-years until they placed the stone. My father's headstone is sinking. I informed one of the Directors and was told they would level it. One-year later and nothing. They are quick to collect payment or they hold family member hostage. This is truly an outrage! I live in LA and visit as often as possible. While I understand that funeral homes may not feel direct responsibility for arrangements not purchased through their services, the handling of these items significantly impacts the overall experience of the grieving family and loved ones. As an individual with six years of experience in the floral and service industry, I found the delivery process to be unacceptable. Concerns Regarding Transportation and Handling * Improper Transport: During the transportation from the church/viewing location to the cemetery, arrangements were visibly stacked on top of one another. This practice is disastrous for delicate floral structures and results in damage to costly tributes. * On-Site Damage: Upon arrival at the cemetery, one arrangement was visibly dropped by staff, resulting in immediate damage to several flowers. This occurrence was witnessed by numerous family members, causing considerable distress, especially given that the family planned to take all floral tributes home. * Destruction of a Key Arrangement: I had to intervene directly when an arrangement (specifically, the "wings") was being broken by a worker. I observed the worker ripping out flowers (gladiolus) and disposing of them carelessly into a bush adjacent to the casket. This specific arrangement was subsequently too damaged for the family to take home. * Missing Banners: I also had to personally ensure the retrieval of accompanying banners, which had been stuffed back into the damaged "wings" arrangement. I spoke with Mark and Danny at the time regarding the issue of the banners. Issues Regarding Floral Materials * Aisle Stands/Easels: It was observed that the metal aisle stands or easels, which were provided free of charge by the florists for the display of sprays and wreaths, were retained by the funeral home staff. These stands are typically provided for the family's use to display the tributes and do not belong to the funeral home. The family should have been allowed to keep or manage the return of these items. Recommended Action and Transparency Floral tributes are not inexpensive and represent profound expressions of love and respect. The lack of care shown for these items was extremely disheartening. I urge the funeral home to implement the following changes immediately: 1. Mandatory Transparency: If proper, temperature-controlled transportation and adequate spatial accommodation are not available in your vehicles for large or multiple floral arrangements, this information must be communicated to the families and loved ones prior to the service. 2. Staff Training: Implement mandatory training for all personnel involved in the handling and transport of floral tributes, emphasizing the need for respectful and careful handling of all arrangements, regardless of their origin. 3. Policy Review: Review current policies regarding the disposition of floral accessories (such as easels and banners) to ensure they are returned to the family or florist as appropriate. We are incredibly disappointed that a day intended for respectful remembrance was overshadowed by the observable mishandling of these final tributes. We look forward to your acknowledgment of these serious issues and confirmation of the corrective steps you plan to take.
