I was treated and spoken to like a piece of dirt on the bottom of a shoe when I dealt with the Pain Management Dept. I was spoken to like I wasn't even a human being. When I called the Service Excellence Dept. to discuss the way I was treated, they too were not empathetic whatsoever and weren't talking to me to listen; they were talking to reply. There was no compassion and they didn't care that I was upset. I will never go to Frye ever in my life after this experience. Keep in mind, I'm a Veteran and had to go through months of approval processes to get the appt at Pain Management. They called me and said my appt. was cancelled and refused to tell me why and when I pressed her with questions and wanted information from her on why my appt. was cancelled, that's when she abruptly hung up on me after giving me no reasons. I'm all set with Frye. I have lived long enough to know I am not willing to deal with people who treat me badly. I'll go elsewhere. I do NOT recommend this hospital. read more

Went in to the ER for knee injury. They x ray doctor comes in and looks at my knee says we will immobilize and you will need to see a orthopedist in a couple of days. You won't work until you see the orthopedist. Wait have they x rated it yet. Me yes dr leaves an hour later I have not seen the doctor and the nurse says I am going to ace bandage your knee. No doctors note in the paperwork. Call and ask if someone could please run it out to my car. 20 minutes later still sitting here. I know they are busy but be honest. I've always heard the saying in hickory if you go to Frye you die, and now I know why, because they are one of the worst hospitals I have ever seen in my entire life. I sat in the waiting room for 5+ hours waiting on test results before they would even admit me. The lady sitting beside me came from urgent care and they said her appendix had burst and told the er it was life threatening and she waiting 6 hours to be seen. The woman across from me with a pacemaker came in complaining of chest pains and they made her wait 5+ hours. Glad no one died waiting. read more

This is about the valet parking.my wife was there for a procedure and used the valet parking the attended took a picture of the license plate and a app showed up on my wife phone.she went to pick up her car it was after 4pm and there was no one there.she called the number on the card and a security guard came.he handed her the keys and she asked we're her car was. He did not know we're the car was parked.she walked around the parking lots and could not find it and no help from the security guard.30 min later she ran into a nurse that was at her procedure a nd together they found her car.this is unacceptable.... read more

My husband has cancer and is not well. We have come here today for testing and upon arrival you enter through the main lobby area and sit with 25 to 30 other patients. I do not even have a chair to sit in as we wait for someone to come and take us to a small cubicle which we already went through during a consult 8 days ago. This is our second hour wait to see someone in billing. We have to wait in an overcrowded main area of the main lobby?? We have to arrive 1 hour ahead of this procedure?? Went to ER, passed out in bathroom, 7 minutes after I pulled the cord they came in, put me in a wheelchair and sat me in the lobby. Passed out again and got fussed at for "sleeping" . People had been waiting 6 hours with no hope in sight. I left after 3 hours and went to Catawba and received excellent treatment. read more

If I could give this visit 0 stars I would... I was exposed to a gas leak for SEVEN hours at work and worked through it again yesterday and I called our nurse at my company and they recommended I go to the ER immediately. Well, I've had all the symptoms of carbon monoxide poisoning since the day of the incident. I go to be checked out today and they literally check my blood pressure and heart rate and said there was nothing they could do for me. They ran ZERO blood tests or any tests to see if it was in my system then they made me feel absolutely fxxking dumb when I said I wanted to be more throughly checked out because I was told to come here to get checked out. my grandfather has been in ICU on 5th floor for a week. The nurses up there are amazing. They have treated me with such kindness during this hard time in my life. I would just like to say that the OB department at Frye is phenomenal!! Everyone is super sweet and informative! I was nervous going to a different hospital because I had my other 3 children at A different hospital in another state. I was pleasantly surprised and I learned SO much more this time around, even though this is my 4th. I've always struggled with trying to breastfeed but now my issue is WAY too much milk! While in the hospital everyone was super supportive(I tried going without an epidural) I felt truly cared about and went over and beyond to help everyone feel comfortable with drinks, snacks, ice exc. During delivery my blood pressure dropped and babies heart rate dropped, they fixed that then right after nurse change happened the nurse checked me for dilation and realized something was off.. then another nurse checked and we all thought that my baby was breach so then I got a ultrasound and she was actually trying to come out face first.. which could have turned out devastating! They quickly got me doing different positions to see if we could get her to love so I wouldn't have to get a c-section. They were going to check me after an hour but only after 20 minutes she was ready to be born, thank the Lord!! She had moved just enough for birth NOT to be fatal! She also had a bowel movement on the way out which would have really freaked me out but they suctioned everything out and she was totally fine! I just want to say thank you to everyone at Frye hospital and everyone at Frye Women Care and a BIG SHOUTOUT to Christina Miller- OB and all of the nurses I CANNOT THANK YOU ENOUGH FOR SAVING BABY JOSIE!! read more

my husband had his surgery done there and the nurse and doctors are total sweethearts. they are super nice and took great care of my husband. Yet, billing is where my frustration is. We was promised a discount if we paid the whole estimate, which we did. When we got the bill it was not given. I had called 4 times and each time they told me the same thing. I'm done with their billing system. This is the worst company ever in their billing system. You can't speak to any of their supervisor to get anything done. I will not have another procedure done at this hospital. I only gave it a 2 because of the doctors and nurses. There was just one doctor assistance that he was plan rude, but other then him everyone was great. read more

I was always told that NC have the best hospitals in US. I'm from Florida by the way. I have gone to this hospital twice. The first time I had falling and cut my forehead really bad. I called the ambulance and the paramedics bandaged my forehead really and asked me if I wanted them to take me to the hospital or if I wanted to ho myself since my son was already at my house he took me to the hospital. I got yo the hospital they took me to triage, took off the bandages and they cleaned it and put another set of bandages. The bandages that they put we're falling off I keep gushing blood all over the floor. I kept telling them that I was bleeding that I needed to see a doctor right away. They kept telling me that they had more severe cases in mine. I understand that, but why would they take the good bandages that the paramedics did, and put some bandages that were falling off? After hours waiting in the lobby, they took me to the back put me in one of the beds. Have me waiting there for hours until the doctor came in when I was having a second concussion. The doctor put the stitches like she if she was sewing an old rag. I was very unsatisfied with the nurses with the doctors with the administration. I have never had this experience in any of the hospitals I've been. Thank God my scar is healing pretty good because I scar well. I went last night to this hospital again because he's the closest one to my home. I had a regular heart palpitations, high blood pressure, severe migraine, and other symptoms. They only checked my blood pressure twice while I was there for six hours, sitting in the hard chair, cold uncomfortable in the lobby. They never took me to the back on a bed. They took blood an x-ray. Never saw a doctor's. I was ordered a CAT scan after almost 6 hours. It never happened. I was feeling so bad. We asked the nurses to check my blood pressure, again, and It never happened. I could have a stroke in the lobby. I complained and they told me they were understaffed. I had to leave because I was feeling so bad I was uncomfortable that cold hard chair in the lobby. They never took me to the back never check my blood pressure again. I was there for about six hours. I decided to go home because I was too tired. Too much in pain and cold. When I told them that I was leaving, I said, if I'm going to die, I'd rather die in my bed comfortable warm in my home, not in a cold lobby hospital hard chair, uncomfortable. I had to leave without my results and without the CAT scan. If there was less than one star to give this hospital, I would give it zero stars. read more

Brought employee in for W.C. Claim. They threw a drug screen bag on bed and said 'take that' I said to nurse it's not necessary, I witnessed accident. She stated 'it's mandatory for WC to approve claim' I told her no it isn't. I'm the employer and I'm not requesting it to be done. Nurse walked away saying what ever gotta do it. 20 minutes later X-ray machine coming down, I said 'whoa!' No ma'am I have to make sure this is an approved location quick three corp. I got word it was NOT so we asked to leave to get to an approved location. They argued a bit and said to wait. Check out lady getting info to pay for services tendered with triage, I said fine. About to sign release paper and this asshole Dr barges thru, LITERALLY pushed his way into the room and I told him to STOP! We are leaving he said no that your here she HAS to be seen and can't leave... I said excuse me? I said this is not an approved location for us to go to as I just found out with Sedgwick and we have to go. He slammed his chest with his hand and yelled out 'that's not a ME problem!' What the hell? SOOOooOoooo unprofessional!!!! And he continued to say you can NOT leave did his Dr words of 'what hurts, ok,soo...' And stated X-ray will be done I started to get furious and yelling back NO YOUR NOT! Although I received excellent medical care here, the signage and directions are woefully inadequate for me as a stranger. I guess those who work here or go here frequently don't age that's an issue but, for me, add a frequent visitor to a lot of places, it was. Then there was the apparent understaffing of the "reception" desk. Only one workstation was at the reception desk. The information counter wad unstaffed when we arrived about 8:00 am. Staffed by competent and trained Flor people, for me as a retired manager, it appears this place is very weakly managed and suffers from poor management planning. There's an apparent line of foresight here that begins upon arrival in the parking lot. That's sad since I know this hospital has been an icon in this area since my childhood. My mother has an appointment at this hospital to have a heart cath at 730am. It is now 150pm. And we're still waiting. They scheduled her appointment without getting Dr orders out ok from insurance. It has been a total ShitShow since we got her. We had to travel an hour and half to get here on time but our time doesn't matter. They have wasted an entire day and my mother hasn't has a bite to eat or drink while they are still waiting. They have also NOT apologized at all. I guess our time means nothing to them. My mom took my uncle up there this past night for severe stomach pain. He was treated very poorly and unprofessionally. They wouldn't give him a bed to lay in b/c they "didn't have any" (they had beds all up and down the halls) so he laid himself in the floor. Then when he was asked to take x-rays he asked if he could have a bed first bc he couldn't keep getting up and down. Apparently he was told yes by what i'm assuming was a nurse. Doctor comes out and accuses him of refusing care. When my uncle told him to get away, doctor threatened to call security on a man who is lying in floor in pain. Not being a threat to him. Literally asked for a bed b/c he is unable to move basically. My mom took him to Catawba Valley & he was diagnosed with pancreatitis. We will never go back there. I don't see how anyone could treat another human being like an animal while they're in severe pain like my uncle was. Would give 0 stars if that was possible. read more

my husband had to go in for a hospital procedure at Frye. he was the first surgery of the day. i was told that it would take a certain amount of time and that I would be able to see him after recovery. it was 4 fours he was kept in pacu before he was put into the ICU. i was not kept informed of the room progress at all. i called on the phone in the waiting area snd was told he was put into the room 15 minutes ago. she told us to go to the ICU. i have never been to the icu. no one directed us we had to ask. we finally made it to his room there was only one chair i asked if my daughter could . immediately said no are rooms are full. we havdd we no chairs. i planned on staying with my husband and asked about a recliner. immediately no we don't have any. this was just incredibly inconsiderate to our family. the room was dirty and had broken shelves and tables. disgusting all the way around. i will never go back read more

This hospital had great service for the day of procedure, but I hope that you can pay all your bill upfront. Dealing with the "business office" aka billing department is atrocious. Four phone calls within two days after repeatedly being told someone would call and/or email with a resolution never happened. Continue to struggle to let them take payment in the online portal. They continue to say that they cannot accept my payment unless I agree to pay in full or a payment that they deem reasonable. Terrible. Leaves a sour taste for the way they treat people once you have completed the necessary procedures and you are behooved to them for paying. read more

I took my Mother to the ER on 9/14/22 at 8:30 pm due to a racing heart that had occurred a few times over 4 days. We sat in a waiting room that was dirty with people that had been there since 2 pm. There were people moaning in great pain that had been waiting for 6 hrs. at that point. There was no communication about wait time, apologies for the wait or even a show of concern. We watched people who really needed care leave the ER because they gave up. The "nurses" or probably CNA's were snippy. Jessie, who drew blood, snapped back at my Mother as she explained that blood was just drawn from her doctor a week ago, and then she sent my Mother back to the waiting room without a bandaid on her arm. She was told just to hold the bandage on there until it stopped bleeding. Finally, around 8 am, my Mother was called back to a room. When they Mother asked if they were short staffed, the nurse snapped at her and said that they had plenty of staff but did not have any beds because patients to be admitted were not being moved. It was a horrible 12-hour experience, and I would never recommend that anyone go there unless it was the closest hospital in a life threatening situation. I would transfer quickly after stabilizing. This is not health "care" at all. It was like a scene that you would only expect in some cash strapped area in the inner city. Go anywhere other than Frye ER, if you have an option! read more
