I'm posting this review because of the pictures of the produce department that were taken 8 years ago. I moved to this area in 2015 and have been shopping here since. I never have seen the produce department in anything but stocked and organized with fresh fruit and vegetables. It had to be an off day or a shortage of staff. read more

As I entered the store, I noticed employees out front of the store, apparently on a break, smoking. While I was in the store, I noticed a lot of empty shelves and limited options of many products and some items I usually buy, are no longer being stocked. I needed items on the top shelf but nobody around to help me. When it was time to check out, there was only one checkout lane had a cashier, the rest was self checkout so it was a very long wait. Cashier and bagger said they cut employees' hours because they don't want to pay them. I left the store and, once again, I see employees out front of the store smoking. Fry's has always been my favorite grocery store with a huge inventory, fresh produce, well-maintained, organized and professional. Very disappointed! read more

This Fry's does not carry some very common items so I have to go to either Bashes or Walmart. Canned Butter Beans, Canned Black-eyed peas, Gluten-free Barilla Pastas. Trust me, the list goes on but I cannot recall everything that has caused me to go to a different store. It is frustrating as a customer and I probably will just shop at Walmart. read more

Well. 1 star for thinking I'm a weirdo thief or something. 5 stars for the cheap donuts I go there to buy for the AA meetings on Sat, Sun (have to get Sun ones Sat night usually because I think your bakery is closed?) & Mondays. Just because I'm a blonde tattooed chick that roams every aisle looking for sales and deals and still spend a decent 60 bucks every day I go there, I do not need to be stalked, followed and assumed just because you are apparently stereotypical corporate a holes. I just found out you guys sell five dollar dozen donuts. This is a steal compared to the regular donut place I go before the AA meetings for the groups. Alcoholics love nothing more than sugar and coffee. The donuts sit out for all the groups so it is great to find this deal. Too bad y'all follow me around like a criminal for helping out the people trying to better their lives. Try not being such jerks. read more

Stopped by for fuel this visit, and liked that it was $.10 cheaper than the Circle K on the corner. The few times I've stopped previously, the store has been clean and well stocked. Love that you can get groceries and fuel at the same place. read more

This Fry's is Disgusting! I cannot tell you how many times I've grabbed rotted food from the shelves of this store. Molded beef jerky in the bag, baguettes cannot purchase because past sale date, organic and regular hamburger in packaging smell awful like rotten eggs all the time (won't purchase meats here anymore!) Deli dept. is rude when there and meats many times are bad and smell awful. This store needs retraining or new employees, this is ridiculous, gross, and a health hazard!! The layout and displays are well kept. The staff is extremely helpful from the baristas at the Starbucks stand to those restocking, even those fulfilling online orders! I would like to thank Logan and Quaran (sorry if I misspelled) for being so wonderful in customer service, but in their humor. It's people like those that make my trip to Frys less like a chore and a bit more pleasant. Also, to Fry's management- Quaran (again sorry for a spelling error) and Logan not only met the standard, but exceeded it. Make sure to give them kudos when you stop by. read more

This fry's is super gross. I kind you not over a 100 flies in the deli section that's not even counting the bakery next to it. I told the lady I didn't not want my meat after several flies landed on it and when I went to look over the counter that's when I noticed 100's of them. The other worker she said that customers complained but management does nothing. Also I always have problems in your deli dept you have nothing but women working in it who don't wanna use the machine. I like my meat in the "shaved" and the lady asked if it was for my grandma because it should be for people with no teeth. They are always annoyed they have to move their arm to use the machine and slice that thin. Won't be back read more

Closest grocery store to my home. The usually have everything I need. Clean and well stocked shelves. All the satellite departments are always in good shape. Employees talk a lot, to each other. You will get to hear all about who goes on break next, who is currently on break, who already had there break, how many pets they have ect ect ect ect ect ect............. Avoid the place at night. Unless you have a gun, a knife and know a little about hand to hand combat . read more

This frys was really the only close by option for us for the longest time. I have been coming here for over 20 years. The store has ALWAYS had drug dealers and homeless people outside harassing people. They remodeled and we were very excited thinking it would chase off the druggies but no...it seems to have gotten worse. I have had so many altercations that I have lost count but the last two weeks have cemented my decision so stop coming here. Last week someone rammed their cart into my (perfect condition) car...not just rammed, dragged. There is a 1/4" wide gash down to the metal about a foot long in the back by my gas tank...they hit it so hard that it dented it.. This week I was slowly pulling up and coming around the front row to park. I am always very caucious and slow at this store as it serviced a lot of elderly. I notice a few people exiting the store including a wild haired woman. I park and am greeted by that wild haired woman screaming and yelling and hitting my hair. She yells that I almost ran her over...she was no where near my car. She looks like she is on drugs. She is threatening me and tries to come up to my car door. I lock both of my doors and sits outside of my door screaming at me. I ask her to go away, she screams louder. I then tell her that I am recording her and she becomes scared and gets in her car that appears to barely be running and held together with duct tape. A scary man who also looks like he is on drugs looks over at me. They slowly pull out making sure to look at me the entire time. Shaken by the event I wait for a few minutes so I can make sure they actually leave. I go inside and ask the girl at self check out if there is security or cameras outside. She said she didn't think so and I tell her what happened. She asked me to tell the manager on duty. I young man with a brown shaved head and glasses. I tell him what happened and he raised an eyebrow and cocked his head at me and said "really..?" As if he didn't believe me at all and was almost trying to call me out. He offered no help... Or solution he said there was nothing he could do....she could have been outside right then busting up my car while I was inside... Frustrated I grabbed the few things I needed and left. This store is overran by theft and drug addicts and you need a police officer onsite. This was a completely unacceptable situation that made me feel unsafe. Shop ANYWHERE else... read more

Dirty filthy conveyor belt. Woman who identified herself as THE MANAGER, running the cash register, stated "we don't have paper towels, avoid the spillage"." When the shopper cleaned the belt, the cashier took a BATHROOM BREAK as she had to handle the dirty towels (provided by another shopper) - turns out she WASN'T the manager, just a wannabe! Never in my life have I been humiliated, embarrassed and treated so poorly like I was last night at the Fry's on Greenfield and Main St. Terry the poor excuse for a stand in manager needs lessons on how to treat a customer. She refused to honor my Fry's egift card and made sure to make me look like I was some kind of scam artist because the inept cashier at the fuel station froze his cash register during my transaction. I filed a formal complaint with the executives. I'm pretty certain it's all on camera. I hope she gets what she deserves. Whether good, bad or indifferent. Karma is always watching! read more

I've now been in the neighborhood of this store since Dec 2019. I have been so angry, so many times buy the terrible customer service. 1 out of every 5 times I go in it's a bad experience. The cashier's, store workers, " lack of customer service desk" don't do they job efficiently. They don't care if they anger you, they just walk off and go anger someone else. You go for sell items and they aren't there, you bring coupons they forget to use them, laughing sending you too the lack of customer service desk. You then get to stand in a line of 5 that moves at the speed of now melted ice cream. Your frozen items have thawed waiting for the 1 of 2 workers behind the desk with one doing nothing helpful, seeing the line and not offering any help to the only kind, friendly, great customer service much older woman actually working. While this sweet woman is helping standing customers in front of her, she is also responsible for answering the phone, calling other " workers" in the store of which don't answer. That happened only about 9 times in the 25 min I stood waiting. Only after "the do nothing" heard me finally speak up did she, says well my register doesn't work.....I say well why don't you answer the phone so the only person giving customer service can help the humans in front of her. Do nothing finally offered to help 1 person in front of me. She then offered to help me but by then my stuff is melted, I'm angry, I've got zero respect for you for allowing us all to stand offering no help. I said no thanks, I'll wait and get great customer service from the only person working on this store. Just a heads up.. Sheila I believe her name was, is the best thing that store has and they will go under of she leaves. She is the only reason you are getting 1 star. I would rather go to Tempe @ McClintock & Baseline and stand in a line 20 people long to be waited on by the kindest, most efficient, friendly cashier ever. The Frys Market Place at 4440 East Main Street in Mesa is the worst grocery store in Mesa. Only one young lady was pleasant and doing her job. She was stocking items in the coffee/hot chocolate area. She was very helpful. On the other hand, the bakery department was a joke! I was there early Sunday morning. I ask the young man if they had any White Cottage Bread. He looked at me like I must be crazy. Cottage Bread???? He said...what's Cottage Bread? I described it to him and even pointed out where it usually can be found. I told him it probably came to the store frozen, because quite often it's cold. He tried to help, but had no idea of what I was talking about. I ask him if a bakery supervisor could help me. He said...."The boss didn't show up this morning!!!! I did the rest of my shopping and returned once more to the bakery department and the boss showed up. She looked like she was half asleep and she had no idea what I was looking for. Dah!!!! Why not check the store website. I don't have a cell phone, but I looked it up on my computer at home. There it was! Durham Cottage Bread. A good employee could have done that for me and at least have told me if it was available or not. The cashier wasn't friendly at all. We don't have to shop at Fry Foods. Without customers where would she be? Week after week I find unfriendly employees, cluttered aisles and mistakes on receipts. The only reason I shop there is because it's close. I hope all Frys Food stores aren't this bad. read more

Pretty kid on selection and the deals can make it worth coming but if the cashier doesn't ask if I am a rewards member then how am I suppose to get the correct the price. Worst store ever. I ordered on Instacart for food to be delivered. My produce was atrocious. I cut open my watermelon to find mold, my lime was so hard I can't even cut it open. My kale was limpy. I received two orders of spinach because I shop or couldn't find arugula. I could go on and on I ended up receiving a $40 credit if that gives you any idea of how much produce was utterly an edible. I was upset because I don't use the store because of bad experiences and I usually go to the Fry's on McKellips which is much better. And the more I use the food the more I find things that are bad. read more

Clicklist is absolutely awful they've had us come back because our pic wasn't ready at our time slot multiple times they've substituted things that I have not approved so I've come home with food that I don't want that I paid for and it's impossible to get a hold of a member of management if you call your transferred around until you are hung up on this is happened to my family three or four times now we've had different issues with Clicklist we will drive up there for them to tell us our order is not ready why didn't they just call us and let us know not to come up there and waste our gas if they knew our order wasn't ready on time and things like that it's ridiculous. They are also always out of stock on the most common household items and fresh produce We've given them lots of chances to correct these errors and management tries but they just keep happening. read more

I waited 25 minutes at the deli to get some turkey! There was only one lady working the counter, bless her heart, I feel so bad for her, I got very frustrated with the wait time and while I wasn't expressively mean to her, I wasn't nice either. I could see a guy in the back slowly washing dishes and kept wondering why he wasn't helping her! I kept seeing people approach the deli, wait a bit, and leave after realizing they wouldn't get helped for 20+ minutes. I was doing an instacart grocery order so I couldn't just leave without the turkey, the wait caused me to go over my time limit for my shopping order. When I went to self checkout I asked the store attendant there if she could send someone over to help the lady at the deli and was told that the manager only has one person working the deli at a time. She also told me that the guy that I saw working super slow and ignoring all of the customers was the cook, and that he refuses to help out with the customers. Every other Fry's that I've gone to has had AT LEAST 2 people working the deli, if not more. I hope the manager sees this review and realizes that better service = more customers! Saving money by having less employees is going to hurt your business in the long run. I will not be accepting any instacart orders for this location because my rating and tip is on the line! And if the lady that was working at the deli (middle aged Asian woman) sees this, I apologize for my misguided anger, you were trying your best and it wasn't your fault. read more

I've been using pickup from this location lately and every time I have an issue with being overcharged by at least $20. The guy who brings out the food isn't very pleasant either, used to be super friendly people. He just throws your food in the back and doesn't say anything so then I have to go home and call customer service for a refund for all the items they overcharged me on since I can't talk to the employee. read more

If I could give this pharmacy & overall store zero stars I would. Never have I ever dealt with more incompetent pharmacy staff. They have shown me continually that they can keep up filling prescriptions even when you put them in a week in advance, or they even try to tell you "never filled it" I have to have my doctor fax things over and over and over to get them to refill. Honestly I'm done with this store. It's a shame they don't care about patients health at all. read more

This has to be one of the worst fry's I been to and unfortunately it's the closest to home. I would still prefer to drive a couple more miles to avoid this mess. Always low staff. Always lines even on self checkout lanes. They only have turned on 1/4 self checkouts. Although there are huge lines. Only about 2/15 registers open. That's the average I would say. So, after stopping here I have decided to shop elsewhere. Even though they remodeled this store, it is such a mess inside it makes you uncomfortable shopping here. The produce area was a disaster. Produce was all over the floor, areas empty or produce just thrown everywhere. No one was facing shelves, restocking or putting things away. There were few employees around. I witnessed a woman banging on the rear doors to the stock room trying to find someone to help her. I would avoid this store until I get get a manager that cares. read more

I have been going to this location for decades. Literally. The recent staffing decisions have left me with no option other than to shop elsewhere. It began several months ago in the Deli department. While I have come to expect slow service what I don't expect is to see a discontented employee baiting a customer. This girl put on a great show of not "hearing" this customer until the customer finally raised her voice. Then and only then did said employee put on a shocked face and turn to her coworkers to express her disbelief at the customer's "behavior". Unfortunately for this girl, she turned to me to back her up and I told her "That is not how that when down, so I think you should get down off your high horse and let it go". Fast forward to a few weeks ago. Same deli, same employee and this time she is dishing the dirt instead of the macaroni salad and she says about a customer she served before me "Some people shouldn't be allowed to have kids"". Not the kind of remark any professional business can afford. This time I took the issue to the Deli manager who assured me she would be all over the issue. I returned a few days later to get a sandwich meat that they had, apparently, stopped carrying. This same deli manager assured me she would order the meat in and I could pick it up the following Tuesday. Great. Except she never did order it. Which makes me wonder if she ever talked to the trouble making employee. I don't always shop in the deli so I was still hopeful that this location could serve my needs...until tonight. I wanted a head of cabbage...there was a misunderstanding about the price so the cashier tried to ask her fellow cashier is cabbage sold by the pound or the unit. The other cashier refused to say anything other than "Look in the black book" apparently failing to understand that it wasn't a code her fellow worker needed. She was SO rude and abrasive that she failed to grasp that if she would stop saying "Look it up you are holding up my line" she would have saved everyone some time. As it was when she finally understood what my cashier was asking she got embarrassed and proceeded to hold up the lines some more while she made face saving proclamations. What a bunch of nonsense. Meanwhile the "supervisor" came over to verify the price and proceeds to tell me in an arrogant tone that "cabbage is only EVER sold by the pound". I had to fight the urge to laugh because I'm fairly certain this pricing "truth" is not chiseled in stone anywhere, despite the arrogant assertion. While all of this was happening I took a good long look around and saw, finally, that this whole location is suffering from some type of internal strife and it is reflected in most ,if not all, of it's employees attitudes. I don't know what the matter is...but I do know that I'm no longer interested in participating. Long story short, I told them no thanks on the cabbage. Got in my car and went shopping at Albertson's. And I will continue to shop there from now on. Who needs this kind of hassle? read more

One star only because there isn't a negative star that I can give!The Fry's at 5941 E. McKellips Rd. Mesa Az. 85215 has to be the worst place for a grocery store. They run out of their sale items constantly and never restock until after the old folks have gone to bed. The best time to shop is when they first open up in the morning and even then you have to work your way around the empty boxes and cartons from the over night stocking. The people that work there seem nice enough but obviously their management sucks because they don't keep up with the new products that us younger "old" people like and as I stated early never keep their store stocked. And I don't want to hear about how hard it is to keep shelves stocked with these hard times that we have, because it has been this way for the past three years that I have lived here. I never had a problem with the Fry's on Val Vista in Gilbert for the 20 years that I lived there. They always had plenty of stock and I never ever remember them running out of ANYTHING, during their Wednesday sales. I will not be shopping at Mckellips anymore, I will try the one on Main street and Greenfield from now on and If that doesn't work I will drive the extra mileage back to Val Vista and Warner in Gilbert. The worst Fry's. They don't sanitize the grocery carts any more and they don't provide sanitary wipes to do it anymore either. When the manager isn't there nobody collects the carts from outside and bring them inside so you can't get a cart. Also when the manager isn't there all the kids that work there stand around talking to each other instead of working. Last time I went to their deli the kid gave me the wrong order. Go the extra mile and go to a really good Fry's on Old Hwy which is also called Apache Trail in Apache Junction. Avoid this one it's awful. read more

So we were in there shopping tonight, and normally spend about 800 a month here doing all our shopping. My son who is a 14 year old who is special needs, saw a older female without a mask. So my son told her she should put on a mask.....(as you know we have been drilling it into his head for months)...she then proceeds to go tell the manager James and James finds my son and starts telling him off....telling a child off ...saying although masks are mandatory she is not required to wear one as it creates more problems. Excuse me telling off my 14 year old special needs child...hello everywhere we go masks are enforced, and many of times ...I'm running back to the car to get mine because i was denied entry. Hello shouldn't there be one set of rules for all. Mandatory but not required?!?....So my wife goes up to James and lets him know that my son has the right of free speech in which to ask her where her masks is as it was her right to go complain to a manager.. Anyways, I literally was paying for my groceries and was kicked out because the manager felt the other lady was more entitled then us. So i just wonder what was it, the fact that my son is special needs, or that he had 2 lesbian moms or was it because we were hispanic. We were born in this country and he treated us poorly and on top of that this manager was over 6 feet tall getting in my wifes face screaming at her. I come here often and find that they never restock items. I see empty shelves all the time, the vegetable and fruits area is always a mess. I've accidentally bought items that have been expired or on their way of being expired (within 1 day). Customer service is a hit or miss. Some days you'll get friendly cashiers other days you'll get attitude. I know people who work at Costco who deal with multitudes of people per day but still have amazing customer service and friendly workers and they always keep up on restocking. It's a shame frys doesn't implicate their example. This location also has some crazy, and dare I say- trashy customers. I've never seen so many shoplifting attempts in my life until i came here. Also a lot of older folks. I vowed to never use their public restrooms or touch the shopping carts without sanitizing wipes. There's a better, although busier, frys near signal butte. Will probably frequent that one more. read more
