Franconian sausages, rose wine and Bavarian beer

Amazing food and service! Best in Nuremberg! The franconian sausage was the best I have had all week and our server made our experience super memorable!

Sunday Breakfast menu for December 2019

We stopped in for breakfast on a Sunday late in December 2019. The food was prepared perfectly. The yogurt was delicious and the eggs were great! We hoped to go back the next morning, but they were not open for breakfast on weekdays. We will definitely stop there again next time we are in town

Nice lunch. Love the pizza but the salad a bit salty.

Our first meal in Nuremberg. We order a raw beef pizza with a salad. The pizza is good but the salad is a bit salty.

Disappointing on so many levels; Poor service, incorrect orders, over charging and bad attitude from our server. We will not return.

I ordered Bolognese pasta to go. Paid and was told it should be ready in a few minutes. No problem. So there I stand and wait. And wait. Another customer came by and ordered a pizza. Another came by and ordered pasta and when they received their pasta, I inquired where my pasta was. So I was asked again what I wanted and asked for payment. I explained I already paid but never received my pasta. It was clear this guy didn't believe me, yelled back at the kitchen, back and forth it went, then I was told it would be a few minutes. When the pizza guy received and left with his pizza, I inquired again about my pasta. Again they wwere trying to take my order and charge me. So I asked for a refund upon which the guy got really angry, refused and yelled that he will give me pasta. It was obvious he thought I was cheating him out of pasta. I did eventually get my pasta, but I have to say it was awful and definitely not worth the half hour I spent waiting for my 'quick' to go dinner. I am actually wondering if it was awful on purpose since it was plain to see that I was assumed to be a liar. So if you are going with the street vending, get a receipt for sure.

The patio is blocked off from the street traffic by umbrellas and big planters, which give you almost a backyard feel. Prices are very reasonable and the service is relatively fast and friendly. I see other reviews stating you had to order inside, but I did have table service out on the patio. I indulged in an Aperol Spritz, which was delicious. A large size generous pour I must say. I devoured my tuna pizza (yep that's a thing in Europe) as is was perfect. Lots of tuna, onions and capers with a delicious oven-fired crust. Highly recommend this place. I did not venture inside, so I cannot describe that part unfortunately.

The restaurant's menu (unlike some) had no English translation, though you can likely intuit the content of many dishes by some common, root language. My friend and I intended to split a pasta dish and had hoped to get an order of garlic bread. When we attempted to order that, the waiter seemed to shut down that option and implied that we would need to buy an additional dish to get garlic bread. So we ordered both a Margarita pizza and a multi-cheese sauce pasta (called the Formaggio), as well as some water and a single glass of wine. The food came very promptly, but with only one 'share' plate. We got a small carafe of water and a single glass (not two glasses). The pasta came with two slices of bread, which was not garlic bread. That said, the bread was delicious, as was the pasta. The pizza was not the best I've had, but definitely decent. As suspected, the amount of food was more than the two of us needed, but I feel like the waiter was trying to dissuade us from sharing a single dish. Also, he had talked down to another waiter trying to speak to us in German, saying to use English; but when he spoke to us, he did not have a very good command of English himself. Once we finished eating, dishes were very abruptly cleared away, without asking if we wanted dessert or possibly a take out box for the remaining pizza (or if we wanted our bill). We didn't necessarily want to take it with us, but it felt odd to not hear an offer for that. So, if you want good food and don't care about high quality service, definitely check this place out. Or, you may just need to lower service quality expectations in exchange for good food.

The patio overlooks the Tiergaertner Tor Platz and it was crowded like a beehive tonight. The huge plaza tree was lit up and thousands of folks enjoying their night on the patios of the surrounding restaurants, on the plaza benches, or even seated on the ground. Great ambiance all together. The staff was very attentive and we didn't seem to have an assigned server as any of them passing by checked to see if we needed anything. The menu here changes often, but also has a few staples and some innovative takes on our Franconian dishes. So we discovered Pretzel pizza... I was suspicious at first, reading the list of ingredients, but threw caution in the wind and went for the Franconian version (my friend opted for the Vegetarian). It really did sound horrible... laugen dough (which is what pretzels are made of), Schmarrn (related to sourcream, or cream cheese, but not quite the same), local brats, kraut, cheese and tomatoes. I was prepared for a nightmare... but it ended up being delicious. The pizzas were served with a mini salad topping the middle of it. The dough was nice and thin and had that typical nice chewy crust all around. The ingredients worked surprisingly well together, but could have done without the tomatoes. Visually they were a nice pop of colors, but tastewise they had no business on the Franconian Pretzel pizza. I didn't try the vegetarian version, but my friend, who is a tiny person, ate the entire thing, whereas I could only finish half of mine. So I would say she enjoyed it. I had the pana cotta with blueberry compote and was delighted to see the compote made from the small blueberries I grew up with instead of these huge overbred tasteless blueberries so common nowadays. Kudos to this place. Check it out if you are ever in the area.
