The clinic has two dentists, four hygienists, and a couple front desk staff. The office is located in an office park building in Maple Grove. The waiting room is so welcoming. It's tastefully decorated for kids. Cartoons on the TV, free Pac-Man arcade game, lots of books, and magazine for the adults. The front desk staff was very nice and helpful. The exam space is great, too. It's an open-air concept with benches and art for privacy rather than walls or exam rooms. My favorite part of our visit was the staff. As someone who despises trips to the dentist myself, I have put off my son's first visit for years. At 4.5, I worried that he would be scared and non-compliant. But our hygienist made him feel very comfortable. I appreciated that she showed him the chair and let him try each of the tools before using them. The cleaning was very gentle. She took breaks as often as he asked. After he picked out a prize and got a sticker for being cavity-free, we saw the dentist (Dr. Borodkin). She reviewed his chart and took the time to review his X-rays in detail. I was worried that she would scold me for waiting so long to bring him in. Not at all! She was informative and supportive, not judgmental. We left with a 'swag' bag - toothbrush, paste, a water bottle, a really nifty flosser, and a save the date for our next appointment. As an adult with dentist anxiety, I had MUCH delayed taking my kids and both had cavities... what I had dreaded (and expected). However, the way the staff and Dr. Venetia helped make them feel comfortable and calm (and informed about what's happening every step of the way) was nothing short of miraculous. No tears. No pain. They also are great at offering you positive feedback about your tooth care and what you're doing right, so if you suffer from dental anxiety, they're especially great for that. No matter what issues you have going on, you will leave their office feeling a little better about your mouth. I recently called to get my son scheduled for some cavities while he is home for the holidays. I asked what he needed, and they replied "you should ask him"...really? Then was told that the same doctor (from his exam a year and a half ago) has to complete the services, otherwise he would need a new exam, x-rays, etc. Wow...seems like any doctor should be able to look and see what needs to be done??? Unfortunately, that doctors' schedule is full for a while...we'll need to find another dental provider who has a bit more flexibility. Cleanings are also booked out so many months...thinking perhaps they shouldn't accept any NEW customers until they are caught up and can take care of their current ones.
