The following listed events occurred during the initial contract with Fort Bend Backyards and the owner. * We paid $1,860.00 down payment for the horrible unprofessional, unproductive, unfinished Landscape services! We are currently due a refund of $1,000.00 for work that was never started or completed. * Based on the invoice only debris removal, site preparation and some landscaping Bullrock ground preparation have been delivered and placed in the yard. * On Wednesday February 22, 2023, they showed up at 2pm without any notification. * Everyday there was always a total lack of communications to explain where the job team was and when and what services would be completed! * They left landscaping tools and supplies laying in the yard and unsecured. They have still not been picked-up the tools. * They showed up on Thursday February 23, 2023, to work after 10am without any type of notification. * Then on Thursday 23,2023,they left our job site at 4pm to respond to previous customers completed project. The explanation provided was their previous client was requesting additional services be completed! * They left a worker at the job site for 3 hours without any job duties, landscaping supplies or any instructions for working on the job. The worker sat in our lawn chair without conducting any job duties for 3 hours while on his phone, then the worker left the job site at 4pm. * The landscaping supplies for our job were not ordered and delivered to the company prior to starting the job on Wednesday February 22, 2023. * There were other job duties, irrigation repairs, grass sod and plenty of debris removal and site preparations that could have been conducted during the day even thought other supplies had not arrived to complete any progress on the job. * I have pictures of the uncompleted work in our back yard. * On Friday February 24, 2023, We were told the anticipated time of arrive for starting the job was delayed until 2pm based on supplies needed to make any progress on the job. As of 5:00pm we had not seen the company or received any form of customer communications. We texted and called the owner Mr. Crenshaw to obtain job status information. * Again, on Saturday February 25,2023 and Monday February 27, 2023, we attempted to contact the company and owner Mr. Crenshaw. * We have never received any type of response. The company again was a NO CALL NO SHOW to complete any work! * The company did not show up or communicate in any form with us! This company is totally unprofessional or productive with providing any positive Landscaping Services!!!!

He said he let me know when he had a date to come and trim. A few days later my door bell rings and two guys are outside saying they are here to trim my tree. Usually I am at work but happen to be off work that day for an appointment. So they set up and ask how much I was quoted and I tell them 550.00 and then they say that can't do it for 550.00, that they need 700.00 instead and that the owner gave too low of a price. So they are here and I want my tree cut so I agree to just eat the price because I don't want to wait any longer. Usually when my tree is trimmed by other companies, they climb the tree, and tie a rope to the branch they are cutting and throw the rope over an adjacent branch so the branch swings away from the house or trimmer then they lower it down. this was not the case with Mason Trees. Instead they just used a chainsaw on a long pole, never thinning out those top branches. Wait, it gets better - the kid cuts off a huge branch from over my garage, the branch punches a huge hole in my siding over my garage door. and the kid is like, no problem I can patch that to look brand new... A week passes and the kid never comes back to patch the hole so I had to call the owner. He sends the kid over and he fills the hole with some foam, then never comes back. Call the owner again and he sends the kid over again and he puts some more foam and promises to come the next day, 3 days later I call the owner again and again and again. After a month of this I ask for his insurance and he says it would be cheaper to just pay someone, so I agree but need to hear something from somebody, after 3 days of nothing I call him again - and he sends the kid back out to my house to try to patch it up. I finally send the kid away and call is insurance, now 3 weeks later his insurance has not done diddly squat so now have to bring it to the courts. If I can get the courts to force Mason Tree to fix my house and I am compensated for loss of pleasure then I will finally get some closure. See the photo of their wonderful patch job !!!

The projects began by meeting with Trey Laird, and he prepared a detailed color mock-up of his ideas and a proposal with various options. He was very knowledgeable and patiently worked with us to create a finished product better than we imagined. We worked with all of his longtime crews who were very respectful to us and our home. They cleaned up after themselves every day, never blared music and kept to a tight schedule working very hard daily. No corners were cut with any of the preparations and quality work was of upmost importance. They worked with existing drainage, plumbing and sprinklers and made repairs/upgrades as needed while helping to stay within budget. Trey was also very helpful when we picked out planters so we obtained the best shape and size. Neighbors are constantly complementing our yard, and one even stopped to ring the doorbell while on a walk to share his positive thoughts. James (the owner) is NOT trustworthy and will make NUMEROUS promises which he has NO intention of keeping. After neary 5 months of being strung along and after MANY no shows and excuses - I am coming here to warn others. See below for the story if you want more info. The original job was done in Aug 2023 and was done on time and looked great. The price was less expensive than the other bids and the warranty which came with the install sealed the deal. Good customer service from James- at the time. The install took a few days with minor hiccups but overall things went well. Every so often we would find a weed pop up through the rock and turf. We were able to manage and pull about a dozen "sprouts" every week or so. Not a big deal. After a while, it started to become unmanageable and we opted to spray the weeds with weed killer. But, about a year or so later, it was apparent the weed barrier is not holding up. There were weeds everywhere. It looked like we had grass where the rock was installed. It was crazy. I reached out to James in April 2025 via email about the failed weed barrier and there was no response. I remembered that I had his telephone number so I contacted him to please have someone come out. After 2 no shows he finally had someone come out and he let me know the weed barrier did -INDEED- fail and he would have someone come out to remove and lay a thicker, commercial weed barrier which should fix the problem. That was in May. After another no show, he finally sent out one lone soul to tackle a job for at least 2 people. The poor guy had to pull weeds, shovel rock and lay a new weed barrier. He did not get 10 feet in 4 hours or so in the blistering Texas heat. He said he would be back the next week to continue. Leaving his equipment and the rock pulled back with the new weed barrier exposed. No one showed the next week. Weeks went by and new seedlings were growing through the NEWLY laid weed barrier. Let me add that I was speaking to James on the telephone quite often (during this time) who was constantly trying to "educate me" on the invasiveness of weeds and how the can "get under the weed barrier segments (which have an overlay of at least 6 inches) and travel and plant themselves in the dirt and spread to the surrounding area - under the weed fabric. OK! Then he tried to blame the crazy overgrowth on the neighbors -who carelessly "spread their grass seed all the way to my side of the fence" further adding to the problem. I should not forget that the grassy field behind my home likely spread it's grass spore to my area. OK! None of which would make a difference if -the weed barrier held up. So after numerous more no shows, I finally get 2 more guys to come out and do another 6 or so hours of work. They worked in a different area and laid 2 layers of weed barrier! They were able to get about 15% of the work done. After many conversations, and James reaching out to his past employee for guidance, he opted to come out guns a blazin' with some strong chemical to kill the weeds around the first week of June. He was worried about the strength of weed killer and what it could do with to puppy. He noted to keep her off the area for up to 72 hours. We agreed and he came out to spray the area. That was the last time we had someone come out and that was over 2 months ago. My wife thought I was crazy to give him so many chances - he did truly seem to want to help. We returned from a trip abroad after the 4th of July and he basically ghosted us. No follow ups, no more scheduled appointments with no shows, nothing. I texted him to see if we can get on the schedule and nothing. I sent him a final text on 8/15/25 and he said he would get me on the schedule for next week. I said he would have someone out on Wednesday 8/20/25. I knew he was full of it bc when he puts me on the schedule I would get a text message. I got a text message twice in the past and these were the 2 occasions when someone actually showed up.. He is a snake oil salesman at best. Steer clear and go with another company who will actually provide you a warranty. This is not one.
