I wrote this review because I absolutely love my Ikebana class. It's amazing to be able to create elegant flower arrangements every week and bring them home with me. The group feels like a second home, and the environment and teacher are fantastic. Anyone who has the time to take this class should definitely do so, as it's like a happy therapy. Amy Chan is a wonderful Zumba Instructor. She is always cheerful, professional and with good patience. Since I took her classes a few months ago, my fitness improved significantly. "ALWAYS TAKE MORE STUFF OUT OF YOUR HOUSE THAN YOU BRING IN." When I lived "down south" I took a few classes at the Community Education Center. I really liked the way I got a taste of a subject in a short time frame and some basic information on where to go for more information, if I needed it. But, my favorite part of taking this kind of workshop / class is the people you meet. It is different than meeting people at parties or in bars. These are usually people who are interested in the same things you are. I have learned that you never know what interesting things you will learn from these classmates. I have taken mini classes in a number of States across the country and on a number of subjects ranging from MEMORTY to TAI CHI to EDITING. In one Creative Writing Class at Sunnyvale-Cupertino I met a woman who taught me more that I have learned in all the many, many classes I have taken. I will always remember one statement that she made to me after class one evening over a cup of coffee. How we had woven our way into the subject of organization (perhaps organizing thoughts?) I will never remember, but she passed on to me some advice her grandmother had given her. "Always take more stuff out of your house than you bring in." Every class I've ever taken and every dollar I've ever paid for community education was worth it for those few wise words. Recommendation: You will meet the most interesting people, who have the most interesting things to say in community classes. Sign up. Learn something. Have coffee with a classmate. I haven't even taken a class here and I am disappointed with them. I signed up for a Digital Camera Photography class a month ago. I show up at 830am on a Saturday in front of the classroom on the scheduled date and the doors are closed. I feel like a new kid on the first day of school that can't find his home room. Some nice old lady asks me what I'm looking for. I go to her office and it turns out the class was CANCELED. OK not canceled but postponed to another date two weeks later. I was not notified of this. She says that everyone was notified but I think I'd remember if I was notified since it requires me getting up at 8am on a Saturday to go to SCHOOL. I have a pretty crazy schedule and a month ago this fit my schedule perfectly. I had to spend a few hours shifting things around and ended up sacrificing a volunteer thing I do regularly because someone didn't notify me of this cancellation. Yeah, I'm miffed. read more

I came to this school for my certified nurse assistant license, I believe it was a 6 week course. The teachers are extremely helpful ( both of them the clinical and lecture ) . They actually teach you work with you one on one if your falling behind or need extra help. If I would to choose a school again I would choose this one I tell everyone about it and recommend it. Both my sister and good friend came here for the CNA license. For the six weeks you are taking this course you have to be fully dedicated Monday through Friday it's a fast course but you learn what is needed as well as inexpensive at that time, 2012, it was about 1000 for my classes, books and uniform we wore at clinical. read more

This review is for the "Learn How to Sew" and "Make Your Own Alterations" classes. Fari is an amazing teacher with years and years of experience and endless amounts of patience! I started with Fari back in January 2009. I bought a sewing machine off craigslist and showed up to class not even knowing how to turn on the machine! Now 2 1/2 years later, I'm hemming my own pants, made a sun dress, and she even coached me through altering my own wedding dress! I find sewing a great way to learn a dying art, learn a useful skill, take a break from the mental stresses from your day, and save yourself some money! My wedding dress alterations took me about 3 months, working 3 hours a week in class, but it saved me ~$500 to do it myself! read more

I share the same sentiments as Dave. I haven't attended one course yet, but because of my interaction with one of the instructors there, and the slow response time of the administration, I don't think I ever will. About a month ago, I signed up for an intermediate oil painting class and got my registration confirmation. I emailed the instructor to ensure that I have all the supplies necessary for the course. To my surprise, she emails me back saying that there are no new students allowed and the course is full. I clarify with her that I am NOT a beginner and my question then is, why wasn't this "no new students" policy stated in the catalog, and why bother opening up registration online if this is the case? (and if there is, there should be restrictions set up so new students can't attend). She emails me back saying that it's in the course description, which it obviously isn't (for convenience, I copy and pasted it below). This makes me glad that she is in the business of teaching art, not English (or Memory for that matter). I call the administration number, nobody responds, so I leave a message. No word. OK fine, so I figure as long as my credit card isn't charged, I'm OK. However I just got my credit card statement and I was charged $93. I left another message with the administration and am waiting to hear back. I am so peeved--register with extreme caution and know that you may get charged for a class you never were allowed to attend! Unpleasant encounter aside, I just want my money back! --- "This course teaches students to paint representative landscapes using oil paints. Participants do not have to know how to draw in order to paint well. Using an innovative and proven technique this course ?re-educates? people who often believe they cannot learn perspective-based drawing. Each pupil will select a unique picture based on what is most appealing. Students typically complete paintings that are truly remarkable within 8 weeks or longer. This would depend on each individual. No beginners for the Thursday night classes. Intermediate and advance only. Students must buy their own paints canvas and other supplies. took the "All levels Volleyball" course here, this is a review of the "instructor" and course not a reflection of the entire program (although it really is). Debra Robertson, although very nice & competent at playing volleyball herself, was only half a step above those volleyball "instructors" that sit behind a desk with a newspaper and call what they do "volleyball instruction" she was only there to provide 1) volleyballs 2) warm up exercises & 3) a teeth whitener smile other than that, there were VOLLEYBALL ILLITERATES there that still do not know their ABCs because Debra was PLAYING ALONG as a STUDENT and never bothered to be OUTSIDE OF THE COURT provide feedback or direction as an instructor, "oh hey, you're not even on the COURT" to new players. these players are still standing in the incorrect zones to this day. you can get open gym ANYWHERE in the bay area. if people who want to learn sign up for your volleyball class, they are not asking their instructors to be another player the only way they can have any type of growth is by the instructor being a witness to your play and giving experienced feedback back to the player. instead, this was just another open gym. one that wasn't ruled by cronies just passing the ball to their friends and not sharing with the other 80% of the public (its only redeeming point), but still, JUST ANOTHER OPEN GYM. it had a friendly, smiley instructor PLAYING. but she treated it like an open gym. what, to her, was a very "hands off", "letting people enjoy volleyball" mentality, was a GO FIGURE IT OUT ON YOUR OWN reality for new players. which was incredibly frustrating as there were many players who obviously had no clue what to do, and yet, were not getting the INSTRUCTION, or the DIRECTION they needed to know what the heck was going on and what to do. she's like the parent who expects some of the oldest kids to be a parent to the rest of the kids but does ZERO parenting on her own. do your f*cking job or print the class as exactly as it is "OPEN GYM - MON & WED NIGHTS CUPERTINO HIGH" "NO INSTRUCTION PROVIDED" "PAY US & FIGURE IT OUT FOR YOURSELF" read more

This Review is for the Beginning and Intermediate Digital Photography courses. Noella Vigeant teaches digital photography classes at the Sunnyvale-Cupertino Adult and Community Education (ACE) Center in Sunnyvale, CA. Although, she teaches at other adult education locations in the south bay, she is relatively new to the Sunnyvale center. The Beginning and Intermediate Digital Photography courses are very affordable (especially for seniors) and the duration is about 4 weeks each. Noella is a very knowledgeable and patient instructor. The students came to the class with a variety of digital cameras from point and shoot to the most demanding of DSLR cameras; yet, Noella helped each of her students master and learn to operate their camera. Even more importantly, she taught us how to feel comfortable shooting pictures using the advanced setting modes on our camera. (Why spend all that money on a digital camera, and not get the most from it?) Also, while we were learning about our camera, we began to understand photography principles, camera tools/accessories and basic post production photo editing. I highly recommend taking Noella Vigeant's photography classes at the Sunnyvale ACE Center, as you will like the price point, duration of the classes and the best part of all, the instructor. read more

So after about 4-5 days of calling this place (attempting to get ? answered about their cna program), someone finally decided to answer the phone. The lady who answered sounded nice and willing to help get all my questions answered. I began to ask her questions when she then interrupts me and says "you know what, let me get your email, I will email you everything you need to know.". I thought okay fine, as long as my ? get answered. She repeated the email back to me letter for letter so I'm 100% sure she had the right one. NOT TO MENTION, before we hung up she had also said "I will be sending the email in just a few minutes."..... An hour later- still no email!! it was pretty early in the afternoon so I figured I would just call back and remind her AND GUESS WHAT!!! For the rest of the day again no one could attend to the phone, including THE NEXT DAY! ughhhh, so in other words: don't ATTEMPT to enroll here unless you enjoy being given the run around! read more

I think there's a separate category on Yelp for Bright Beginnings preschool, but technically it falls under Adult Education, too. My daughter and I have been taking parent-child classes starting with the Wiggles & Rhymes class almost 4 years ago when she was only 5 months old. We continued on to Gym Kids and now she's at Bright Beginnings Preschool. Every single one of the teachers and teachers aides we've worked with have been fabulous both with the parents and the kids. Susan and the rest of the staff in the parent education office is responsive and helpful by phone, email and in person. The addition of online registration in the last year or so has made signing up for classes WAY easier. read more

The review is for " Property Management " Class by Mr. George Fernandez Anybody who would like to do property investment must enroll this class ! Even the current landlord shall enroll to know what you can and you can't by law. It's so important ! You won't regret. I participate other classes and this is the one with very high attendance by the students throughout the whole course, because everyone learns more by each class. Highly recommended. Mr. Fernandez is very professional, very kind, and very knowledgeable and full of experiences to share with us. Fun class too with a lot of interactiveness with other classmates. I took the All Levels of Volleyball last quarter. I was new to volleyball (still am) but very much enjoyed the class. The "ALL LEVELS" part can sometimes makes things a little chaotic but this is managed very well by the instructor. I found the basic drills to be very helpful, especially since I have nothing other than Jr. High PE as a 'training' background. I enjoyed the course enough to recommend it to a friend who took it this most recent quarter. He had the same great experience, however he made it a point to tell me that his class had one rather gruff and gumpy student who was generally unpleasant to everybody, including the instructor (who she politely names in her post - classy move). I can only assume this student was Samantha W. who posted her wonderfully skewed review here as well. Perhaps the problem was this was an Adult class, not an entry level 12 and under children only course. Provided the aforementioned student doesn't return I would suggest this class to anybody who has ever had a curiosity about indoor volleyball. The instructor has a wealth of experience and is very patient. It has certainly made the weekend games much more productive since I'm no longer just slapping and swinging wildly at the ball. If there is another offering of maybe "step 2" or "intermediate" I'll be sure to be there. read more
