After seeing this place and the Best in Catawba County Award I decided to give it a try for lunch today. I went through the drive thru simply due to me being in a hurry. Customer service was great! However the food wasn't worth what I paid. I paid $17 and some change for barely any steak and chicken. The carrots were overly sweet and very smushy. Fuji is by far the BEST Japanese restaurant in Catawba county. I am NOT over exaggerating you guys. Don't let the location or the size of the restaurant fool you. It is the most flavorful teriyaki/Hibachi I have eaten! I travel A LOT, I've lived in a lot of different places/states, and I've also searched high and low to find another Japanese restaurant to compare to Fuji... But there isn't one. If you haven't eaten here, first of all, there is a drive thru and there is inside seating. Service is fairly fast either way. You do not have to call ahead to place an order, but I'm sure the restaurant probably prefers it. I always order at the window, and it takes just a few minutes to get my usual... Either Hibachi chicken (which comes with mushrooms) or teriyaki chicken (which comes with broccoli) depending on my mood. It's pretty inexpensive, I believe less than $7 per plate, and you easily have leftovers because it comes with a lot! I've tried other items on the menu as well, like soups and egg rolls, and they've always been pretty good too! Keep in mind before you visit, they are not open on Sunday! We moved to the area a few months ago and always wanted to try this place since every time we drove by there was a line in the drive thru for pick up orders. We were not disappointed! Food was fresh and delicious and the price was great. We were given plenty of shrimp sauce for our meals and duck sauce for our egg rolls which was really nice. Lo mein noodles were without a doubt the best i've ever had, the flavor and texture of the noodles was amazing. We are very pleased and will be making this one of our regular go to's for take out! read more

This has got to be the best Japanese Restaurant around. The service was quick, they asked me how I wanted my steak cooked for my combination entrée. Which I personally haven't ever been asked at other Japanese restaurants. Friendly service. My chicken and steak were cooked perfectly, the vegetables were great and not mushy. The rice was superb and then the shrimp sauce to tie it all in. Large portions, fast service, great food, and clean. Couldn't be more pleased with my decision to eat here today. read more

Favorite spot honestly from the other restaurants that are similar. I go here almost every Saturday and sometimes through out the week. Food is great, portions are good for their price, and the food is honestly better from other restaurants that I've been to. I love that the chicken teriyaki dish was only $5, but I was very disappointed with the portion size. There was very little rice. The amount of broccoli was perfect though. We were served drinks with Styrofoam cups without lids, so to me that was a little unsanitary because the server's hand was touching the lips of the cups, even though we were given straws. I was very disappointed when I ordered the egg roll appetizer and was charged $1.40 for one skimpy egg roll with a packaged duck sauce. For the most part I was looking forward to the soup that Japanese restaurants primarily serve as you get seated, but we weren't served that either. I just had high expectations for it because of the hype people have given me. I do have to say it doesn't compare to the other nearby Japanese restaurants I've been to. The server was great, but the quality just doesn't make up for it. I really do hope they continue to improve because I wouldn't mind going back for the main dishes. read more
