Yes, it is a hibachi style restaurant and you can have all the flaming volcanos and theatrics you want but we weren't in the mood. We received something akin to a traditional hibachi experience. It was a mild, chill atmosphere and our hostess/server was just such a beautiful person, sweet and attentive. Our chef was charming and entertaining without being over the top. The food was a metaphysical experience of flawlessness. The steak and chicken was perfectly cooked and seasoned. The portion sizes? I got enough food for THREE meals! So disappointing. They add an extra fee and don't even tell you what it is for or why. The food portions are so skimpy. The food itself was blah. Not very tastful. Their handicap bathroom is a joke. My mother fell in there due to them not have a proper hand rail. Manager was too rude to come over and wouldn't even speak to us. Probably the worst hibachi restaurant I have ever been to. The vegetables are ice iceberg lettuce and butter. They charge automatic gratuity and a service fee for using your credit card. The owner bragged about how America is so wonderful as he ripped off everyone at our table. He bad mouthed Japan and France acting like a world traveler as he just took our money ($91.00 for a party of 2 for lunch) and probably laughed all the way to the bank as he drained ours. We're that annoying family with ten million food allergies. The host modified all of our food individually to accommodate for our various allergies. She stood next to the chef and watched him to make sure he didn't mix any of the dairy free and gluten free food into the standard recipe on the grill. When he misunderstood our directions about butter (totally understandable, our allergies confuse us sometimes lol) the host corrected him and immediately the grill was cleaned. Both the chef and the host were personable and friendly. The food is great and fresh but we greatly appreciate their willingness to work around our allergies. We will absolutely be back! We've been here in the past & it was good. Tonight we came and that WAS NOT our experience. Our server was VERY rude. My husband asked a question about what choices were included in the 5 course dinner. The server responded with, "you can't share that." So I said to her, well that's fine, but his question was what MEAT OPTIONS does he have. She didnt seem to appreciate me clarifying his question. I got green tea, she never refilled it & never came back to the table after dropping off the soup & salad. The hostess cleared away our dishes. Patrick was our chef. He didn't bother to introduce himself, I had to ASK what his name was. I ordered steak (medium) & shrimp while hubby had teriyaki chicken. No tricks, no frills, so that was fine. HOWEVER, he severely overcooked my steak. It was LITERALLY inedible, but my dogs will love it! The veggies were literally burnt, so I didnt eat that either. He asked how his cooking tasted. I didn't answer. Server came back to drop off the check & asked the other couple if they wanted boxes, but said nothing to me. As she dropped the check off, I asked politely for a box. I got the 6 course meal, but wasn't offered my dessert and only given my check. We WILL NOT EVER COME BACK & should have went to Toyko Japan in Medina. As a former server, I tend to tip closer to 25 or 30%, but they didn't even get 10% since the veggies were burnt, steak overcooked and the server had a TERRIBLE attitude. Yup, you have pushed me to this point. The food was fair to good, depending on what you get but here is the problem and what has taken me to this point. I have tried to like this place over and over, but I continue to leave disappointed every time. This will officially be the last time. I never write reviews unless it is incredible and I just can't help but tell the world, or the restaurant is so bad that I must warn my fellow neighbors. #1 Issue - Don't give me a bill for $165 and some change, then take it back to the register and charge me $171 to my credit card. When asked, the owner said it's the credit card adding on fees. No restaurant that I have ever been to has done this (Maybe in New York!), but even if you as a business owner decided to do this, at least tell your customer your doing it before you charge the card! By the way, $171 for 2 adults and 3 children who ordered 1 pop and 4 waters, no dessert. Expensive for even Hibatchi right? I feel like I have been robbed. It's not the money, it's the principle. #3 Issue - You will see in a minute why I am explaining issue #3 first. I would have been fine with this if the #1 and #2 issue didn't happen. Don't add stuff to my bill that I did not authorize! I used to be a waiter, so I have always added on a good to great tip, even when service is average. Hey, these servers depend on those tips! For my wife and I, and my 3 kids, they decided they should just auto add on a handsome tip?!? Doesn't that depend on your service? It's different when you are in a group of 20. It was my wife and kids, that's it. $26 and some change Tip Automatically Added, which I am guessing they calculated 20% of $130 and some change for the meal + tip + tax to equal $165. Then they charged $6 for issue #1. #2 Issue - So when they added on the tip automatically, they did so before they calculated tax in an effort to inflate tax on the server's tip? This was on a written receipt. So what happened back at the register was probably pocketing the extra tax charged. Sorry about your luck State of Ohio. Either the waitress doesn't know better (Who I think is the owners wife) or they are committing tax fraud in front of my eyes. #4 Issue - Multiple times during the service, the cook was fairly sloppy and dropped our food all over the place (on the table, on the wooden arm rest, etc.) while trying to get it on the plate. Rather than just cleaning it up and throwing it away. He decides to pick it up on where it landed and slap it back on the grill for literally 2 seconds and then slapped it back on the plate. Seriously? #5 Issue - We are still in the middle of a Pandemic the last time I checked, and your cooks are not wearing masks as they stand in front of all of us hovering over the food? But, your waitress is wearing a mask? What am I missing here? #0 Issue - Because this pertains to more our specific situation and not the general population at large I am explaining last. It's a big issue for us so it's #0 top priority for us. My wife is allergic to seafood and even though we explained that to the cook or thought we did, he continued to cross contaminate his utensils from raw seafood back to cooking eggs for everyone's fried rice. OMG, I hope she doesn't die!!! NEVER AGAIN! The food is not horrible, it's everything else that really is unacceptable. You guys have been in business too long to be behaving like this. I'm really stuck on this one. The food was good, but very expensive. ($110 for a family of four, with only two drinks ordered: beer & wine). I've visited other hibachi restaurants, received better food, better service and paid 1/4 less. They had one of the best soups ever, but charged extra for fried rice, even with hibachi! I've never heard of that. The hibachi was entertaining, but we've experienced better. Exterior of the restaurant is odd because they block off the view out the windows with some crazy print screen scenic photo. The interior looks worn, the hibachi grill could use a thorough cleaning. If it weren't for the decent food this place would be a total kitchen nightmare. We tried to go to another place first, but they we're short on staff and a long wait. So my fiancé's birthday dinner was now at Fuji. The limited staff was so rushed and hurried. There were two tables when we arrived, they left, and one came in towards the end of our time there. The cook, on a scale from 1-100 for showmanship.. would get a 1. He dropped sweat all over our food, mumbled and spoke so softly we couldn't hear, and did not one thing for show.. our kids were very let down. To top off all the negatives, our party of 5, had gratuity added to our bill! On a hand written bill! Then they taxed everything, including the gratuity! What?!? We both work in the industry, and this is absolutely not ok! We always tip 20-40%. 20 for lousy service, 40 for great service. This place is scamming people. You can't read what they write on the bill, and I'm certain people are not aware they are tipping on top of the 'auto' gratuity. We've been going here for at least ten years now. This place never disappoints. The food is great and consistent. Out of all the habachi places Fuji has the best tasting food. It is seasoned just right and not bland like other habachi places that cover up the taste of their food with a bad version of yum yum sauce. The service e is always great and you can tell its family owned and ran because of the care that's given to each customer. There may be fancier habachi places. If you want flash go to them. Their menu is not on the website in their apple maps link, it takes you to a page to buy their restaurant instead. I used the menu that had prices on yelp (could be wrong, but the prices seemed accurate) I ordered a hibachi chicken ~ 16.95 and 2 eel rolls cooked ~ 4.95 (9.90 total) this total is only $26 but when I walked in to pick up my order it came to $42.50. I did not even get to see a receipt for what the breakdown of each item was. I'm very disappointed in the quality of the food and the restaurant in side was dingy and out of date. read more

I was overcharged $8 and I didn't even get the correct order when calling in. I live an hour away and Instead of this business correcting the order, I was told most people like shrimp even though Im allergic. The problem, communication and failure to correct their mistake. Wow im surprised by all the low stars....I came here on a visit with my fam who come here quite often. The staff remembered them and also couldn't be more friendly...everyone from the chef to the host. The food (and prices) was just as good as any other restaurant of the type and just as flavorful. Its not the biggest place on the inside but since it wasn't by any means packed for lunch it suited us just fine. Our chef wasn't one for as much flair as some of the other chefs but he had a good convo going and the food was good so I was happy with it. They have lunch and dinner specials as well with different combos to suit the palate and really can't go wrong with either one. I will def be back when i'm around the area. ps. go to town on the sauces and also ask for the diablo sauce as well. (I think that was what it was called...its there hotter sauce. Yum.) read more

Hibachi - Japanese for overpriced but fun show. Cons - Seating in this place is a bit cramped. The setup also makes it loud, and the exhaust fans don't work well. Pros - My sushi was good. My accompaniment had a variety of items they let me try also. The steak and chicken were great. I recommend dipping both into "McDonalds" sauce (Thousand Island with no relish). Nice chef too. He called me Sushi man since all I had was sushi. To which I responded, I am the walrus, goo goo g'joob. He also did not laugh. If you have an hour for lunch, this might be pushing it. We have been coming here for the last 10-15 years and typically we have a delicious dinner, when we stopped in this last time it was not the case. The shrimp is always delicious but this night I ordered scallops and my husband had the filet. My scallops were over cooked and chewy and the steak was well done rather than medium so it too was a bit chewy. Love the soup and salad, this never disappoints. Not sure if they changed owners or what was going on because I didn't recognize our chef, however the hostess/waitress has been here forever and she is always really sweet. After moving to Northeast Ohio we tried to find the best local Japanese restaurant. Fuji is exactly that. It's owned by a lovely family and they have excellent food. Admittedly, this is not a place for the show. However, they overcompensate with the flavor. They make their own garlic butter (ask for extra on your food) and have generous portions of soup, salad, rice, veggies, and a meat of your choice. Cannot recommend enough. Must try! read more

They offered chicken liver appetizers - but when I went to school the appetizers came first. Not here! Everything comes in totally random order. Appetizer after the entree and finally followed by rice - WHat the ???? My wives salmon was undercooked. If you want Japanese green tea you have to ask for it. I asked for it twice. Never got it. I'm usually a fan of hibachi restaurants - they're a bit corny, but fun once in awhile for a group of people. I was really, really disappointed though for a few reasons. Our group ordered the spicy chicken and vegetarian noodles. The food tasted okay, but largely because of the MASS amounts of garlic butter/oil being used. I get that this isn't where you go for a healthful meal, but there are limits, and they certainly reached them for me. Moreover, it was a bit of a turnoff when they explained that their dressing was just mayo and ginger. It may have tasted good, but mentally, the way it was described made it less than enjoyable. A more specific problem our group had is we had one friend with us who was vegan. All of us had to explain that she wanted her food without butter, and just with veggie oil. We were told this was okay, but it was a consistent problem throughout the meal. So, be careful when you order the vegetarian dish there - you might not be too happy with the result if that's something you are looking for. So - I'd think twice before making this your groups' destination. Although the only other restaurants nearby are chains, we all agreed we would have preferred going to one over going here. read more

So tonight I took my family to Fuji in a place we frequent often (2x a month at least) My 5yr old ask the cook to do tricks make a volcano (He say we don't do that here) while he's cooking I noticed he's a little irritated. My 5yr ask him to put the egg in his hat (Dale the owner) says to him "next time you go somewhere else" I instantly jump in did u just tell a 5yr old to go somewhere else?! He doesn't know you don't do tricks here he's associating u cooking in front of him with previous experience. Now I'm HOT! On top of the portion being reduced & your prices going up I still choose to patronize this location BUT NEVER AGAIN. My meal alone was $75 & you have the nerve to disrespect my child because you don't want to do tricks which is apart of the experience at a Japanese restaurant. I'm absolutely livid after waiting over an hour only to leave do to the owner DISRESPECTING MY 5 YR OLD! Sad part is I still didnt mind the $4 Charge hot sauce, $5 for extra butter, or even the $30 gratuity for a party of 2 at my last visit. Walked in this evening for dinner with my husband, at 7:18pm. However apparently they close at 8pm. Very loudly, loud enough for my husband and I to hear at the door, the owner was complaining to the group of people he was cooking for that "people come in right before we close." First of all it's one thing to simply explain to US that you close soon and we are to late. Do NOT complain to the guests you are already serving, that's extremely unprofessional and if you don't want people walking in that late ...TURN YOUR DAMN OPEN SIGN OFF!! Overall: I did not have a good experience with sushi take out. I probably won' be back. Service: 2 stars. I Googled their menu and reviewed it online. It showed a lot of great sushi choices. When I called for take-out, the lady told me that was not the correct menu and they don't know how to remove it from the site. Since I was obviously not the first person to make that mistake, they should find a way to fix the online menu. Food: 2 stars. Sushi was average. The selection was weak. Price: 2 stars. I requested extra spicy sauce on the side, for my 2 rolls. Most sushi places give this away for free, or charge $0.50 or $1.00. They told me it would be $2.50, which I told them was fairly high. When I arrived, I found out it was $2.50 per roll ($5.00 total) for a little extra spicy sauce on top of the 2 rolls. I said that was crazy, and they reduced it to $3.00, which I reluctantly paid. I can't say enough good things about Fuji. I live in Columbus ( 2 hours away) and when I crave fuji I'll drive there for it.
