    Hot pot

Kintaro has such a cool concept--all you can eat hot pot OR sushi. I love that you get to choose your own experience! Just a heads up: you can only pick one (hot pot or sushi) and you can only share with people doing the same option, so plan accordingly. We chose hot pot, but the sushi we saw looked gorgeous--super fresh and beautifully presented! For the hot pot, there are tons of yummy options to cook with. Our favorites were the thinly sliced meats, potstickers, fried tofu, and the tempura fish cakes--all super flavorful and perfect for dipping in the broth. You can order as much or as little meat and veggies as you want, which makes it easy to customize. Best broth = Chinese Spices broth (so flavorful with the perfect kick!) Least favorite = Chicken broth (a bit bland, wouldn't get it again) And I have to mention--I absolutely LOVED their fruit tea! I got the passion fruit, mango, and (I think) peach blend, and it was the perfect balance of sweet, refreshing, and fruity. 10/10 drink!

I really like their sushi. Full stop. I think they do a solid job at making balanced sushi rolls, they are filled well and the ratio of rice to filling is nice because they don't have too much rice. I also think the quality and taste of their sushi rice is perfect! of their I like the menu, there are so many different options to try. I've been a few times recently and tried different rolls. Of the specialty, I really liked the Nissan roll. And, I love their Alaskan roll, because it comes with cucumber and avocado and salmon. Sometimes places don't have the cucumber in their roll- and that's just not an Alaskan roll! The cream cheese rangoons are great. I thought I might be disappointed because I like crab rangoons, but they were still tasty. How can you say no to a fried shells with cream cheese on the inside? The service was great. I've ordered once AYCE sit down with a friend, they were quick with service and attentive. I've also ordered takeout twice and they're very quick with getting the order ready, and very nice on the phone and in person when you're ordering and/or picking up. I would reccomend to anyone looking for a solid sushi experience, and can't wait to bring more people here to have them try it!

The food was okay, I got the honey dew boba. I went with one other person. When our food came, there were two separate plates. In assumption that we had separate orders, we were confused as to why MY rolls were on the same plate as the rolls my friend ordered. For context, I got cooked sushi whereas my friend had a mixture of raw & cooked. Our specific server was okay. I order the same thing every time I go to Kintaro, but this specific time my order looked different. Our server continued to ask me if I had ever been there, and said that there is a strict 10.99 up charge PER POUND on food. My friend and I began to get full and questioned the amount of sushi they brought out considering it was 6-8 pieces per roll on the paper, though every roll we got had 9-10 pieces..? so in total that's 40 rolls for us EACH plus the side dishes. in the end I had maybe 6 pieces of sushi & my friend had 4, but we were stuffed so we tapped out. our server came around and said that if we have more than four pieces of sushi, there is an upcharge. we just paid the excess (+ 30 dollars) and left. :(. our total was 60 dollars which should've been 25.

I absolutely love the endless sit down sushi concept and have been to quite a few. First time here... Staff was super friendly and the rolls named after cars. I enjoyed the unique variants of deep fried options. Unfortunately, the rolls reminded me more of China buffet sushi than high quality sushi with the same concept here in Pittsburgh. The freshness just wasn't there and the batter of the deep fried rolls was a bit tough to finish. Apps like the Rangoons and gyoza were tasty (except squid slightly rubbery). Salmon hibachi was over cooked and cooked too fast as the sauce covered the Albumin (white that coats the salmon if cooked too high). The hibachi veggies were perfect. Overall fine for the $17 cheap price point but I'd rather pay the $23 dinner price at the higher quality spots with double/triple the specialty roll offerings and way more fresh

As a sushi lover hailing from California, I wasn't expecting to be wowed by the sushi and hotpot options here. If I was rating off of food alone, I would have given this place 3 stars-- everything was okay. Not super fresh but didn't give me food poisoning and the presentation was decent (ie the sushi boat). I was mainly thrown off by the service here. This was my family and my first time in the midwest, and I felt like the service here was fairly rude. There was a miscommunication with our tip as we were a party of 6 (so we expected to have gratuity included). When we apologized for the miscommunication and paid tip in cash, the server was still extremely upset and chewed me out in Mandarin (since I had been speaking with her in Mandarin). It was so unexpected and an unpleasant way to end the meal. I'm sure this place hits the mark in the midwest but I personally would not come back if this was a Californian restaurant.

Stop by here while I was visiting Cleveland for work. I always love some good sushi, and they had very good ratings from what I saw. We came around 6 PM on a Wednesday evening and it wasn't too busy, didn't even have a wait. We were very graciously greeted by the host, upfront and seated immediately. They actually offered an all you can eat sushi menu or hot pot menu. If you come with two people, one person can do hot pot and the other can do sushi so that was nice to mix-and-match. Me and the person I came with were both craving sushi so we just did that. We were greeted by our server shortly after we were seated and they were very kind. We were able to mark off the items you want it on the menu and they brought it extremely fast. It's the fastest I've ever gotten sushi anywhere. The only reason I gave them one star below five is because it wasn't clear upfront what they meant by all you can eat sushi. They have some strict rules about waste and can potentially be charged if you don't finish everything. So the cost wasn't really worth it unless you were eating 3+ rolls per person. If I knew that upfront, I probably would've just ordered two rolls I really liked and some other stuff. Outside that it was very fresh and delicious, will definitely recommend

This is our first time to this AYCE sushi place. The price is $28 AYCE which includes sushi, sashimi, Japanese salads and cooked foods. If you happen to get unlimited hot pot instead, that too is $28. Now onto the sushi, this is a decent place and the fish is alright. Just make sure you don't over order as they will charge you for uneaten food. As for the wait time, it wasn't terribly bad for a party of 3 on a Friday evening. Just be cautious when you order those special rolls as the roll pieces are quite large so hence ton of rice. This place is quite clean and the wait staffs do come around often to check on you. For today's visit, I will give it 3 stars,

    Chicken teriyaki.

So...all you can eat hot pot or sushi for $27.99. Great concept. But anything you don't eat you get charged $10.99 for which is fine except our server kept bullying us to get more (to pick up the surcharge, I'm sure) and it's not sushi by the piece, it's by the roll. I love sushi but I don't want to eat a 6 to 10 piece roll. And it was supposed to be spicy but it barely had any flavor. The teriyaki items were overcooked and chewy. The tempura, though cooked well initially, was lukewarm at best. If your menu says something is spicy or crunchy, there needs to be spice and crunch. The food does not live up to the menu. The bathrooms were not clean or in proper order. The temperature in the restaurant was just too cold. All-in-all I'm not impressed.

Kintaro Sushi & Hot Pot Reviews in Other Languages

Ask the Community - Kintaro Sushi & Hot Pot

Can one person at a table eat hibachi, and the other Hotpot?

    Yes, you can

Are they open for hot pot yet?

    No, takeout only.

Which food allergies can they accommodate for (peanuts/tree nuts/dairy/fish/shellfish/wheat/eggs/soy/corn/nightshade/sesame) & do they have gluten free options?

Shellfish and Peanut, but you must inform your server.

Do they make sushi-less rice? Like a cucumber roll or just a wrap

There is a rice-less roll it is wrapped in cucumber.

Is hibachi all you can eat as well?

Yes. But it's not the kind of hibachi you might be thinking of. They just bring it out on a plate. But you can order as many hibachi plates as you want.

We can't decide between all-you-can-eat sushi and the all-you-can-eat hot pot. Which do you recommend we try as first-timers here?

If there are two diners, each person can get a different all you can eat option. As long as everyone at the table gets an all you can eat option, they don't mind if you share. (At least that is what our server told us last night)

Do they have a regular menu you can order off of as well? I'd want to get hot pot, but my boyfriend would want just hibachi, rice, etc.

Yes they have a normal menu that isn't all you can eat.

What kind of alcohol do they offer?

    Domestic bottles/Jpn bottles and liquor.

Is the dinner menu the same?

There are more items available at dinner for both the sushi menu and the hot pot menu

    Anything i should try?

I'll share what I absolutely love about Omizu. I usually order from UberEats, and I normally just order salmon rolls, spicy tuna rolls, etc., because I normally have avocado at home. This one time--I didn't have any. But I also didn't want to pay extra for avocado. I placed a note in my UberEats order "PLEASE ADD AVOCADO". And they did--no extra charge. I was so happy and I devoured my meal. My top picks: * Spicy Tuna * Salmon Lover * Salmon Roll, Tuna Roll, & Spicy Salmon Roll One day, we went inside to celebrate my friends birthday. I had came earlier and asked them to store a cake for me--they gladly took it and presented it at a timely manner for us to celebrate her first sushi + her cake! Above and BEYOND this restaurant goes--impeccable service and quality.

**This is a 3.5 star review.**…read more I was looking for something a little different in the culinary challenged town of Parma, and this joint fit the bill. The atmosphere here was warm, inviting and clean on our visit. And despite that they had bluegrass music blaring, it still felt like a Japanese restaurant. Service here was also polite, quick and efficient. I started with an order of calamari, which literally came out in two minutes. It was panko-crusted and about as rubbery as the set of Michelins that I had installed on my car a few weeks ago. That's not a deal-breaker, as there have been only two places in my life that have served melty calamari -- both of them Italian joints, As an aside, there are two secrets to cooking calamari. First, they need to soak in milk, as the lactic acid breaks down muscle. Secondly, they need to be dredged in an egg mixture so they brown quickly without overcooking the meat. But I digress. I took a couple sips of the miso soup, which was nicely flavored. I didn't touch the salad, but the person who did said it was good. The udon noodles were nicely presented and had excellent flavor. The coconut shrimp was the total opposite of the calamari in that it was cooked to perfection. I'm not sure what the dipping sauce was, but it was also phenomenal, and I'll be looking for a copycat recipe. As for the sushi, it was good. Not earth-shattering, but beautifully presented with a nice contrast of flavors and temperatures. I'm not sure about the cherry on top, but what the hell. If I lived here, this place would be a regular stop for me ... especially because they have Sam Adams Boston Lager on draft.

I was working at a coffee shop nearby, 10 mins away, with a friend and we both decided to walk over to Hako to grab lunch. FOOD -- Hako has lots to choose from, including sushi, rice dishes, dumplings, etc. I ordered the Dumpling Bowl ($13.95) for lunch which was delicious and fresh. The Dumpling Bowl includes sushi rice, furikake top fried chicken dumplings, and cucumbers. It is topped with spicy mayo & eel sauce. The chicken dumplings were thick, crunchy on the ends, and slightly creamy with the spicy mayo on top. The addition of the sushi rice gave for a filling lunch. The dish wasn't too salty especially with the cucumbers on the side which added a cooling effect. I will definitely order the dumpling bowl again and the price ($13.95) is a lunch special, I believe. AMBIANCE -- Simple design inside with tables and chairs. Calm atmosphere. Clean. SERVICE -- Quick and efficient customer service. The lady at the checkout counter was very friendly. First of all, the place is beautiful. You will want to stand and stare a minute when you first arrive, from the cherry blossoms overhead to the gorgeous art painted on the walls. We were welcomed immediately and seated quickly. Our waitress was attentive and efficient, again this was no small task with a bit group at a very busy time. She made great recommendations and we started with several appetizers for the table: Crab rangoon Mozzarella stick, Goyza, and crunchy rice with avocado. They were all good and cooked to perfection, but the Crab Rangoon Mozzarella sticks were show stoppers. This is fun fusion at its finest, and everyone agreed we could have just lived on those. We had to put in sushi orders early as there was a bit of a backup with the kitchen, but our server did a great job of keeping us informed about the timing and made all the entrees work out so people getting hot dishes got them at the same time as people who ordered cold dishes. I had the sora roll which is another great fashion dish with a simple tempura shrimp and avocado roll upscaled by adding thin slices of wagyu beef, spicy mayo and dark sweet soy. I loved the combo. My wife had the peking duck and said it was fantastic with a good bit of flavor and a hint of kick, cooked to perfection so it didn't get dry. My son had the mushroom risotto which he said was very flavorful, and carried a bit of asian spiciness. Other people at the table had sushi, the katsu chicken, and the crab fried rice. No one was disappointed! Finally my wife and I split the smoked creme brûlée and all I can say is, you should save room for dessert because this was a fantastic spin on a classic! The only thing I would note is that it's not a quiet restaurant. Do not expect to have a hushed or private conversation here, but even with the big group I could still hear everyone, so it's not like it's ear splitting or anything. Honestly, every part of this experience impressed me and I would love to go back next time I'm in town.
