It's been almost exactly a year since I ate here last and the verdict is still the same. The food here is just not good. The service is excellent! I have no complaints. Super friendly and service with a smile. Quick too. But the food quality just isn't there. From the Gyoza appetizer that tastes frozen and slightly freezer burned to the our meals of Stone Bowl Bibimbap and Chicken combo with Fried Rice. I was supposed to have miso soup with mine but he brought us both the clear soup that was to come with my daughter's meal. Neither of us ate it. We didn't care for it because it was flavorless. There was no shrimp on my daughter's plate that was to come with her meal and very little of the steamed veggies that were also to come with it. It was mostly a heap of very pale fried rice with a side of chicken. The rice had none of the added ingredients that make it fried. It look like a drop of soy sauce had been added to make it a gross grey color. My bibimbap was the least favorite bibimbap I've had anywhere. And while the bowl was hot it was not near hot enough to make the rice crispy, as intended, and instead made it mushy. It's skimpy on the other ingredients besides the rice. We both took most of it home - unable to eat it because it just wasn't that great. Then I threw mine out the next day. What a waste of food and money. read more

Ok so the sushi and anything but the hibachi is pretty mid. But the hibachi I need to warn will cause admitted STOMACH PROBLEMS. Me and my family have almost crapped our self from what we think is the meat. So just stick to the sushi. (The hibachi should be illegal) the service is spotty very rough around the edges. Came here for New Year's Eve dinner and my husband and I took two of the few available seats at the bar. We ordered drinks and tipped. The bartender named vivian shortly after asked us to give up our seat and move so she could give them to two other customers. Another employee told us not to sit there. The sashimi was fresh and so was the salad. I enjoyed the light dressing that accompanied the salad. It had a ginger citrus note that was not too sweet. I also tried the hot stone bibambop and really enjoyed my meal. The flavors were spot on and the sauce was killer! This is a really cute restaurant with friendly customer service. The waitress checked on me multiple times and made sure my water was always at least half full. The ambiance was warn and reflective of Japanese culture. Group fun together for a nice meal! Party of 12 gathered together to enjoy a meal together. We placed our orders and the chef came out with a ton of ingredients and cooked everything table side! I was impressed at how they knew how much of each item ordered to bring. Items cooked table-side include fried rice, noodles, veggies, steak, chicken, shrimp, scallops, octopus, and lobster. Worst experience! Food was bland, no shrimp app, and up charge for everything. Food was being served before soup came out and then had to ask for salad which came close to the end of the meal. Pass! What a joke this place is! It's dirty, the menus and the tables were sticky and gross. Asked the waitress like 5 times if the Spicy Chicken had any vegetables. She swore up and down it didn't. Kids sushi came and the about 20 minutes later the spicy chicken comes and it has vegetables. She says oh I guess I was wrong. So we said we asked because he doesn't eat mushrooms. She said she would fix it. A fork dropped on the table and the manager came over and asked why we were angry and why we were "throwing forks". Eastgate has a plethora of dinner options, but many of them are chains. You're not going to get many different options outside of a casual steakhouse or wing joint. Fuji Steakhouse decided to buck the trend and open up a Benihana style restaurant with a separate dining room smack dab in the middle of suburbia - and boy am I glad they did! Fuji is a large restaurant that is housed in the old Damon's. I remember Damon's fondly from my childhood. There was a large dining area with four tiers that faced our toward three large screens. Walking into Fuji, you wouldn't even know it. It's an even ground restaurant with three areas. There's a sushi bar, teppanyaki tables, and a classic restaurant seating area. Truth be told, I'm not a big fan of Benihana-style restaurants. I don't need dinner and a show. I'm very easily amused. You can put a bowl of popcorn in my face and I will entertain myself. There will be no popcorn left and I will be happy. Anyhoo, I prefer eating in the traditional dining area. They have a large area for a sit-down lunch and dinner. I prefer their booths. It's set up to be very intimate with ornate Oriental style flooring and walls. The seating is perfect for a date night, or if you're planning on feasting like I do and you don't want the rest of the restaurant to see the fatassery that's going on at your table. I order the same dish every damn time. I order different types of sushi depending on what I'm feeling, but I also always (ALWAYS!) order yum yum noodles. To this day I cannot tell you what yum yum sauce is. I had a roommate for two years that faithfully kept the stuff in the fridge and I never bothered to ask what the ingredients were. I pass by the yum yum sauce aisle in Jungle Jim's frequently but I never stop to look at the back of a label. Just as the world may never know how many licks it takes to get to the center of a Tootsie Pop, I may never figure out what makes up yum yum sauce. Truthfully, I don't care. What I do know is that the yum yum noodles are beyond delectable. It's the perfect combination of sweet and savory. It's umami level. The very first time I came here my friend insisted I order them. The friendship eventually ended but at least I got some kickass noods out of it, ya know? Eastgate is an area that I try to go in and out of. There's not much to see unless you enjoy being hassled by teenagers or accidentally running into the nearest retirement party. You can count on three things for Eastgate to do well: groceries (Jungle Jim's), nails (Fashion), and Asian cuisine (Fuji). read more

This was our first time here and it is now our favorite restaurant! Angela is such an amazing sever! She was so so busy but we were still very well taken care of and she was just adorable and sweet. We've been talking about how much we loved her so I decided to leave a review. I believe the young lady wearing a pink blazer was a manager but she was so sweet as well! Half priced sushi was really good but I don't think we would ever get raw fish from here. I was seated by the same person who was the server who was the same person that cleaned our table. The "cooking show" was pretty abysmal - the chef was simply there to do his job. A solid 0 on entertainment, despite there being a few kids at our table. The food was pretty good, but I have definitely had better hibachi.
