Our Server Ben, was personable, very knowledgeable of the menu, and fun to interact with throughout dinner. The restaurant is sophisticated, dimly lit, offering live music in the bar area that could be heard throughout the room. Floor to ceiling windows offered a stunning view of the Ohio River and Cincinnati skyline. This is a must try if you're looking to have a different steakhouse dining experience as MRBL offers sushi and seafood too. Disappointed that they don't offer any soup i.e., a lobster bisque on the menu. And to mention the mussels were less than desirable, small in size for the price and of a better buy at other steakhouses locally. We ate at MRBL tonight. It was not good. The atmosphere is beautiful and I love the view of the river. Service was slow and lacked the fine dining attention that should accompany such prices. They put the wrong plates in front of us. We had to ask for menus several times. They food was ok at best. Steaks were cold and tough. They also had no sear and had a "boiled" texture. Sides were ok. I absolutely loved this restaurant--honestly, it may be better than any steakhouse I've been to. The steak was incredibly juicy, rich with flavor, and perfectly crispy on the outside. The mac and cheese was melt-in-your-mouth delicious. We made it a New Year's treat and ordered the lobster sushi roll, which was surprisingly unique and amazing. Our waiter was extremely knowledgeable and gave excellent recommendations. MRBL is a spot made for special occasions. My hubs brought me there for our 23rd anniversary. The table was decorated with rose petals and we had a nice view of the river. There were three other rose petals tables, so it felt very celebratory. We started with the crab cake, which was quite good. Full of crab and a great sauce to tie everything together. I had the ribeye for my meal. It's not the best steak I ever had but it was cooked perfectly the first time. I couldn't say the same for my husband's fish which was way overcooked. The restaurant handled it quickly, returning with a new plate of redfish in short order. I'd recommend that you stick with the steak and also, avoid the Brussels sprouts; they were oily and flavorless. My absolute favorite thing was the MRBL sauce. I'm usually a purist and don't put sauce on my steak, but I'd put that sauce on anything. It made an incredible steak topper and dip for my bread. We ended the night with a complimentary dessert. Perfect place to celebrate our anniversary! The restaurant is very fancy (and the view of Cincinnati is stunning!), and jazz music was playing during the whole meal, absolutely a great start! My husband has been wanting to go to MRBL for a long time, so we decided to celebrate Father's Day there this year. It's easy to get to and has a big parking lot with free parking, so that's nice. The restaurant itself is upscale and has a nice view of the Cincinnati skyline. Service was very good and attentive but we felt a little rushed at the end when one of us were still eating and someone came by and started to take away the side dishes. I like that the server gave us drink menus first and let us order those before handing us the dinner menus. We all ordered cocktails and very much liked them all. We knew dinner would be filling and didn't want a lot to eat before our meals, but I had seen a photo of the snow crab salad on instagram so we ordered one to share between the four of us. It was very refreshing and plenty to share between us. For our meals, we each ordered steaks and then two shareable sides-the asparagus and the potato volcano. Both sides were delicious. Unfortunately, I can not say the same about the steaks. I ordered a medium-rare filet with bearnaise, immediately I could see that it was a sub-par cut of meat, not as thick as a filet is typically. The bernaise was very thick, almost pudding consistency and very gritty. When I cut into my steak, it was a little under, I would say closer to rare than medium rare, but somehow dry at the same time. I didn't even know that was possible. The rest of the table expressed that their steaks were disappointing as well. I knew it was going to be an expensive meal but it definitely was not worth what we paid. 1 salad 4 steaks 2 side dishes 5 cocktails came to $520 after tip. read more

After cocktails were ordered - beer for the guys and the Date Night Manhattan for me and the complimentary bread service - we ordered the Ceviche' appetizer. The Date Night Manhattan is fabulous! The ceviche' was pretty good. My husband's friend ordered the Chilean Sea Bass, my husband chose the 20 oz. 45 Day Dry-Aged Bone-In Ribeye with the Compound Butter enhancement and I had the Filet with MRBL Special enhancement. The MRBL Special is a truffle mushroom cream sauce and it was amazing. I could have drank it straight from the dish. My steak was a perfect medium rare, tender and wonderful with added sauce. Both my husband and his friend said that their entrees were awesome. As was the Asparagus side that we ordered for the table. All of the service was fantastic. Our server explained they get their prime beef from a Chicago Distributer and how exclusive it is for them. I'm a big steak guy and frankly this was choice grade steak not prime. Which is fine, but if you want to sell at prime prices I have issues. The bone marrow was prepared perfectly, but typically bone marrow is served with toast points. The volcano potato, I had read so much about, was very tasty and the asparagus was perfectly prepared and a little unusual in a good way. We enjoyed them all. Overall an enjoyable meal, but at this price point I could have been at Ruby's or Morton's and had better beef. read more

The billboards for this restaurant have been catching my eye, so I decided our family would go this month to celebrate mine and my grandfathers birthday. The glass elevator elevated our initial impression as it lifted us to the floor of the restaurant. The view of the river, bridge and skyline is truly something else! We had a wonderful greeting from the attentive front desk who was sure to ask what we were celebrating and our names. I don't know that I've ever been to a restaurant where it seems as though a majority of the staff takes time to greet you. We saw management walking around as well who also were inquiring of our meals and experience. My sister is underage and I'm not a drinker, but mojitos used to be my favorite. Mrbl had a shockingly good mocktail menu with a No-jito on it that was amazing! From the bread to the dessert I cannot complain about a thing. Start to finish our experience did not disappoint. The portions were great, food was delicious and even their Mac and cheese may have beat my own. We had their mushroom chicken dish, seafood risotto, mashed potatoes, lobster mac and cheese, and filet mignon. Their birthday treats were some sort of brownie or mini lava cake with a more cream filled center. It was super rich (sweet) but delicious nonetheless. This was our second time at MRBL and the food continues to amaze me. Although I requested a table near the window (on open table notes) we were put in a booth. Slightly disappointing as you don't get the view of the city, however the restaurant was full and I understand not putting a table of two at the window. We started with the lamb lollipops (medium rare) and the Bellevue roll. I remembered liking the sushi better the first time we went but it was still good. I enjoyed the flavor of the lamb lollipops but they could have been more seared. We split the 16 oz ribeye and decided to try the MRBL sauce. Just WOW. I don't think I can ever have my steak without that truffle sauce again. For our sides we did the mushrooms that come in this buttery broth and are a must and also opted to try the truffle gnocchi. Decided to give this a try for Valentine's Day with my wife (she booked it). I expected this to have food/service like Jeff Ruby's or Capital Grille or Sotto. Sorry you are not at their level (except for your prices). Let's start with our waitress Alyssa. She was missing basic training for a high class establishment. We compared her to other waiters around us who explained the menu, offered food and drink suggestions, and talked about the aging process for steaks. They even came back to talk about the special bread pudding for dessert. She handed us the menus and had nothing to say then or later when she came back. My wife asked her for comments. Silence.... We prompted her for the specials and was told about the 3 filet tenderloins topped each with shrimp, scallop and crabcake. She neglected to tell us the price which was $99 and that it came with asparagus. If we knew about the asparagus we wouldn't have ordered the Brussel sprouts. Given the 8 ounce filet was $60 the toppings didn't justify $39. My wife asked for her steak medium well. They refuse to do that. Then asked with no red. What she got was between medium and medium rare and waitress said that was as best as they would do. I'm sorry you need to serve your customers what they want. Your medium-rare suggestion was noted. My wife was able to cook it herself by placing in the cast iron skillet of the potato volcano. We had read Yelp before so had an idea of what was available. If Alyssa was new, she should have had a trainer with her. She also grabbed my bread plate while I was eating my salad. I had a knife on it and butter. I told her to please leave it, because I will be having more bread (was in the basket). Usually you would be asked if they could take a dish. Very awkward to grab the bread plate. As a 15 year elite I have been to fine steak houses all around the country. Every Jeff Ruby's visit (any of them) or Capital Grille you expect top service. They each have a wine steward. They also don't put a sign at the check-in that says credit cards will incur a 3% service charge and if you want to pay cash, you can go down the street to the ATM/bank. BTW it was cold and raining. Tacky all around! We noticed the waiter next to us put rose pedals on their table. Later on the front host put it on our table. It never sunk in to our waitress to do. Ironically she never mentioned dessert until after she gave us our check ..."Do you want coffee or dessert"? Never mentioned the banana bread pudding. My steak was supposed to be medium rare was really closer to rare. The rib-eye and strip steaks were $75 and $85 similar to the other places. The potato volcano was unique and good. The Brussel Sprouts were good. To summarize I am giving 3.5 but can only give 3 stars on a 1-5 scale. Service was 1.5 and food was a 4. Atmosphere was a 3.5. The guitar player was nice. read more

This was my second time to MRBL and it was as wonderful as the first! Everyone, from the woman on the phone who assisted with my reservation, all the way to our servers, Todd and Buck, were first class. Our water glasses were never empty, our food was prepared perfectly and we never felt neglected but not hovered over, either. We began our journey with the Sashimi platter, Snowshoe Crab salad and Shrimp Cocktail. OMG! So fresh! So tasty! For our main courses we ordered the Filet Mignon with Lobster and Pontchartrain sauce, ordered Medium, cooked perfectly, and the Scallops with drawn butter and Asparagus. (5 large scallops, had to take 2 home!) Dessert was a slice of Cheesecake with Blueberries. Delicious! We sat in a half booth, with views of the city and river. Delightful! Celebrated my wife's birthday at MRBL last night. We had heard mixed reviews but wanted to check it out on our own. We had a great experience. Service was excellent. Summer did a great job. Uncle Buck was great seating us and taking our family's picture after dinner. Food was very good. We shared the Tuna Tartare. It was a nice size portion and was very good. The girls each had a sushi roll and Amy and I split the Porterhouse for 2 which was delicious. I was pleasantly surprised that they provided refills on my daughter's Shirley Temple. While it doesn't seem like much that was a nice touch. My other daughter loved her mocktail the Sunset Sangria. Service was excellent. Everyone who works at MRBL was very friendly and attentive, but not in the way that makes you feel uncomfortable or "too much" that I've experienced at other places. The food was top-notch. There wasn't anything I tried that I wouldn't eat again. We had the asparagus, the truffle gnocchi, a couple of steaks, and my favorite, the crispy sushi rice. When I tell you I have not been able to stop thinking and talking about the meal, especially the sushi rice, I would be understating how much I liked it. Huge but generally flavorless ice cream. If you like fried ice cream, this may disappoint. Also got the lemon cake and I regret remarking I've had better from the discount table at Kroger. We were also a little disappointed no gratis anniversary dessert was offered, even as we see it posted on other reviews. That plus an additional fee for using a credit card was disappointing. The vibe is very swanky and classic. There's no dress code, but everyone was sorta dressed up. Our server was Isaac, and we would 100% request to have him again next time we go. He was fun, attentive, knowledgeable about the menu, and overall a great server. While our overall experience was great, he made it even better. The food was incredible. We knew going into it that it would be pricey, but it was well worth it. We started out with the Bellevue sushi roll as our appetizer and it was delicious. Slight heat, but nothing crazy, and all the flavors were really balanced. We ordered from the chef's dishes part of the menu. My partner got the Wellington, which was not traditional, but still very delicious. The cut of meat was so tender and the pastry nice and flakey. I loved the chicken and truffle gnocchi - I only with I got more gnocchi on my plate. For dessert we had the lemon cream cake.
