They quoted us $450 for the repair, which entailed cutting off our sprinkler where it was rusted galvanized steel and replacing it with PVC pipe. This in turn ended up re routing our system, rending a large chunk of our sprinkler system useless, due to the steel not being able to be connected to the original system unless we wanted to pay for more repairs. We were quoted around the same (around $500) to connect our sprinkler system again so it would work, on top of the original repair, in which we did not move forward. At first, I was fine with a quote of $450 assuming it was going to be a complicated repair with fancy parts but when I saw the work that was done, it changed my mind. Total labor time was maybe 30 minutes and it was simply digging up where the sprinkler was broken and rerouting the pipe with about $15 worth of PVC and that was it. The gentlemen who came out were kind and helpful so I don't like to leave bad reviews however I feel like we were totally ripped off and charged way more than appropriate to the point where I feel extremely silly I didn't call around to other places and feel like we got played. And now we have a system that does not work. I would highly suggest you call around before going with these guys.

The issue is not with the actual work, but rather the business model and lack of communication. We have since moved on to another gardening service. Luis wants guaranteed business by charging a monthly fee to show up 2x/month year round. However, for simple lawn/hedge trimming and leaf clean-up, the amount he charges does not make sense. We struck a deal with him for ad hoc service, because nothing grows in the dry months of summer. However, we had a "no-call, no-show" during the rainy season when he had told us multiple weeks in a row that he would come by. When he finally showed up weeks later, he decided to charge us TWICE for overgrowth. Had he shown up the first time he said he would, that would not have happened. It seems he decided our business was no longer worth his time, so he decided to extract the most cash he could from us before we moved on. Needless to say, I cannot recommend Lona's to anyone after this experience.

As a person, he is very polite, attentive to any concerns you may have, and overall seems like a very kind hearted individual. He was working with his Father, and had a couple of gentlemen to stop by to help pick up some of the heavier items. I am a first time homeowner who inherited a tangled, weedy mess once I moved in to my new place. My lawn was 90% weeds by the time I had realized that I needed professional help reclaiming what the weeds have stolen from me: my sanity and some much needed curb appeal. Guadalupe and his crew were very prompt with answering my call for help. I've learned with time that most contractors are terrible communicators; Guadalupe and Casa Verde proved to be an exception to the rule rather than the norm. He updated me each day on the progress of the project and showed up on time each day. He and his crew cleaned up every day as well. As the project sort of evolved , he was very very very accommodating towards my limited budget. He worked with what I was able to spend and even went above and beyond by planting new plants in our planters and setting up automatic watering for us. They also added stepping stones to the lawn and made everything mesh and look really good together. He also redid the drains from the planter (a previous contractor didn't do a good job with that so Guadalupe went ahead and fixed it on his own volition.) it felt like he ultimately prioritized getting a good job done over making as much money as possible. You can tell that he cares and takes pride in his work. My neighbors noticed that he and his crew were very diligent with their work too. Overall, I had such a great experience working with Casa Verde. Everything looks great!
