We had a sprinkler bust next to our house and we called around to a few businesses and Jonakee was one of the only responsive ones and quick to come out. They quoted us $450 for the repair, which entailed cutting off our sprinkler where it was rusted galvanized steel and replacing it with PVC pipe. This in turn ended up re routing our system, rending a large chunk of our sprinkler system useless, due to the steel not being able to be connected to the original system unless we wanted to pay for more repairs. We were quoted around the same (around $500) to connect our sprinkler system again so it would work, on top of the original repair, in which we did not move forward. At first, I was fine with a quote of $450 assuming it was going to be a complicated repair with fancy parts but when I saw the work that was done, it changed my mind. Total labor time was maybe 30 minutes and it was simply digging up where the sprinkler was broken and rerouting the pipe with about $15 worth of PVC and that was it. The gentlemen who came out were kind and helpful so I don't like to leave bad reviews however I feel like we were totally ripped off and charged way more than appropriate to the point where I feel extremely silly I didn't call around to other places and feel like we got played. And now we have a system that does not work. I would highly suggest you call around before going with these guys. read more

We used Jonakee Landscaping for a small-medium project to upgrade the large planters in the front of our house, install a concrete paver divider between the planter and lawn, and fix our sprinkler system. To start the project, coordination with Joaquin was very easy -- and then Alex came out to look at our space and take measurements. It was clear from the beginning that he was extremely knowledgeable in all aspects of our project. He quickly pointed out ways to fix our sprinklers to help our lawn and identified drought resistant plants to keep our front yard relatively maintenance-free (which was our primary goal). On our start date, the crew showed up promptly on time and completed the job ahead of schedule. We were even able to add on a few extra items and the team was very accommodating. Once they were done, they made sure to clean everything up and gave us directions on how to care for our new plants. Joaquin came over, looked at my backyard, spoke with me for maybe 15 minutes about my vision for the yard. He seemed like he knew what he was doing so I skipped the step of using a service such as Yardzen ($1000+) to design my yard. Boy did I make the right decision...he completely nailed it, with some nice touches I wouldn't have even thought of. The work was done promptly, communication was good. When my initial estimate was a bit over budget, he found creative ways to get me what I wanted while getting a price more in line with what I was looking to pay. He installed irrigation for all the plants, and had a connect for electrical as well. He also noticed there was an area that would allow rainwater down into my foundation and helpfully suggested installing a concrete curb to keep the water out. You can't afford NOT to hire Jonakee--with an undertaking of this size, you need someone who will get it right the first time, which is exactly what they did. Check out the before after pics below. I hired Jonakee Landscaping to install a yard drain on the side of my house. They installed two new catch basins along with aprox. 60 feet of 3" ABS drain pipe from the side of my house to the street. This entailed having to place the drain pipe under my sidewalk. Alex, and his crew, Kevin, Jesus, and other workers had to remove pavers and dirt along with the existing shrubs. There was an extensive amount of work required to place the 3" ABS drain pipe under the pavers and existing dirt and shrubs. They also had to drill through an existing block wall to run the drain pipe through and obtain the proper slope so the water will flow. Finally, when the drain pipe came to the sidewalk, they had to cut out part of the sidewalk and drill a hole at the end of the sidewalk for the drain pipe to exit in the street. The job required numerous days and was difficult to accomplish. The crew did an excellent job in completing this work. I have been using Contractor's over the past 20 years. I can say that this Contractor is among the Best I have used. At the end the job turned out Fantastic. I can say Jonakee Landscaping did an Excellent Job at a reasonable price. My House is in Palos Verdes Peninsula. I require Excellent Work to maintain the value of my Home.
