This veterinarian moved out of Belfast several years ago. YELP apparently isn't very up to date.

I highly recommend Yvette Lahaye, because she is an impeccable DVM who has given loving care to my pets over the last 8 years that I have been a client. That said there could be improvements with the client-facing staff at the clinic. The receptionist made an error and was unable to put my appointment in while I was on the phone with her, but said she was going to add it right after we got off the phone. I confirmed the date I had in my calendar and then hung up. When I arrived on the date in my calendar, they told me I had the appointment wrong. They said I could wait and see If they could fit me in. I waited for 30 minutes before being told to leave. The staff were stressed due to multiple emergencies happening at the Clinic. They also were angry because I was talking to my friend while waiting and told her what happened (Mind you I just explained the situation and did not speak poorly of them to my friend. I only explained the annoying situation). After that they told me I should find a new vet because I asked for some accountability for their error and the fact that my cat had to travel 4 hours in the car, I spent 40$ on gas and I had to arrange for respite care which cost 90$. The client-facing staff also ganged up on me with 4 people. Katie Foye was particularly unprofessiona, standing in the back making faces, whispering to co-workers, and shaking her head the whole time I was explaining my predicament and how I was feeling. The whole situating felt very gaslighting and I felt like I was dealing with high school bullies.

I recently brought my 9 week old kitten in for ear mite treatment as he was visibly very bothered…read moreby ear mites and I could see inside his ears that they were full of dirty looking substance that are a telltale sign of mites. At the vet, he was given a one time topical treatment that is supposed to eradicate them. I noticed he was still just as bothered by ear mites in the next 2 days following his appointment so I looked in his ears and noticed they were still full of the dirty substance indicative of ear mites. I also googled ear mites treatment for cats and kept reading that cleaning out the ears should be the first step of treatment. I called the office the next morning and told the receptionist that my cat was still just as bothered by the mites and that I noticed my cats ears had not been cleaned out. I also told her that I read online that the first step in treatment should be cleaning out the ears. She told me that they usually clean out animals' ears when treating for ear mites and said she would check his file. She ended up speaking with the vet and the vet said that she didn't clean his ears because they weren't "that dirty" and that I could make an appointment to have his ears cleaned. I told the receptionist that I wasn't going to pay for another appointment to get his ears cleaned when it was supposed to be part of his treatment (as receptionist had already mentioned they usually clean the animal's ears) and I also told her that the vet told her his ears weren't "that dirty" because she chose not to clean his ears. (They look awful inside, this is why I made the appointment.) The receptionist spoke to the vet again and the vet told her to tell me that if I don't like their services that they would be happy to fax my pets' records elsewhere to which I replied "yes please" and we ended the call. So the veterinarian would rather defend her choice of not fully treating my still very affected cat for ear mites than doing the right thing and has now lost a customer with 2 cats. I should also note that the receptionist sounded agitated and to me, the issue is minor compared to what can happen to animals. I can't imagine her being very kind to frustrated pet owners dealing with more serious issues. But maybe she's just fed up with customers calling to complain about mediocre service. This place looks very dated inside. It never felt that good to bring my animals there in the first place (we went a few times for boosters and a neutering of our other cat, starting a few months ago) so this experience is a blessing in disguise. I definitely wouldn't want these people treating my cat for more serious issues.

We would pick her up and she was a "hyper-fit" but soon settled back into our home routine after reassurance, a shower and much brushing. We picked her up yesterday and she was so glad. She was also shining clean and had been brushed out , toenails trimmed (really well). She was less stressed, even when coming home into the house. She was glad to be home as always but way more comfortable with being gone. We had a repair man stop by today, and for the first time ever, she didn't run out barking and trying to scare him off, she was watchfull, but not threatening . The business is under new management and the new staff is extremely rude. It took 3 phone calls…read moreover a few days to get a return phone call. I had several questions because the ownership is new and I am not familiar with their policies. The female was clearly irritated by my questions and she kept telling me to look at the website, which I had already done. My questions were specific to what I needed to provide for a dog that takes daily medication and if my dog could have 1-on-1 exercise/play time because she doesn't do well with other dogs. I also had a question regarding vaccinations; the prior owners would tell us when their records showed a vaccination was due. Also, we've boarded our dogs in kennels in other states that want kennel cough vaccination every 6 months (even though the vet states it's annual). When asking for clarification, she kept telling me to call my vet and would not answer any questions regarding 'their' requirements specific to kennel cough vaccination. When I finally told her that I didn't appreciate her attitude, she explained that I had an attitude and promptly cancelled my dog's reservation, telling me to find another kennel. We have been using Canine Country Club for years with nothing but GREAT experiences. I met the new owner a few days ago (she owns Paws and Claws in Belfast as well) and I thought she was nice, but apparently the owner told the staff person that I was rude when I stopped by. The only reason I stopped by was because we were driving past the kennel and I needed a reservation in just 2 days. I was hesitant to make my hotel reservations without knowing I had a reservation for my dog. The owner told me to go right ahead and make my travel reservations and assured me that she had a spot for my dog. I thanked her for her time and told her it was nice to meet her. Apparently the experience was not mutual since she told her staff I was rude. We already found another kennel to use and their staff was extremely helpful and professional. It's a shame that customer service is now nonexistent at Canine Country Club and the courtesy of returning phone calls and answering questions of customers is a huge inconvenience. I don't think they will do well with the current staff..... Apparently they don't recognize that customers have options too.

I've found that they are very responsive via telephone, are very pleasant when interacting at the facility, and even send pics and texts while she is there. We had taken our lab to other boarders who charge $30 per night, and then $10 more if you want them to have playtime, then $10 more if you want them to get a walk. One of the fantastic things about Zeke's is that they have a HUGE fenced in yard that the dogs get the run of for hours of play time. No extra charge for exercise! I feel guilty enough leaving her at a boarders, so knowing she isn't kenneled much, outside of overnight and naptime, is a huge relief to me. Another bonus... they always give the dogs a bath before pickup and even washed our dog bed this last time! We took our lab and our new dog over the holidays this year and it was our new pup's first time at a boarders. They were able to share a kennel and I knew he would be well taken care of. Our dogs have NEVER come back injured, only happy and exhausted!

Redd loved it. When Yvette took over, things changed a bit and seemed more like a dog place but that's ok too. Redd still loves to go, he gets plenty of exercise and I know they take good care of him as Yvette is a vet herself. Everyone there seems to care about the dogs and it appears safe, clean and friendly. They are picky about who they take and that is fine with me. They have also washed my dog bed and groomed my dog before he comes home. I highly recommend them.
