Fabulous bike shop in Boulder with so much to offer! This combination repair, sales shop, brewery and coffee shop is truly a unique gem to Pearl Street. Not only do they carry almost any random bike part you might need, but they have beer and coffee too! You gotta stop in before they close up shop later in November. In fact, you into have a week! The staff at the repair wing were very knowledgeable and friendly. They had some really nice bikes for sale, and plenty of parts. I would trust them to do service as well. I picked up a rear wheel part here and they were very nice. The brewery wing was awesome! I got a Pumpkin Ale from 4Noses Brewery in Broomfield, and it was awesome! Plenty of flavor and spice. Overall it made the experience perfect. They're closing soon, so head down today! read more

This review is for the cafe and bar at Full Cycle. Attended a fun improv show tonight and what a treat to be delighted to laugh over some truly lively and yummy tapas! Enjoyed the luscious artichoke with manchego cheese, grapes, and marcona almonds dish and a pan con tomate, both fully flavorful and perfect on a summer evening. Great wine list to accompany, but if that's not your vibe, good selection of beers, cocktails, and non-alcoholic cocktails and sodas. Friendly and attentive staff, *everyone* worked hard doing everything from serving to bussing. Will be back!! read more

Once again the Full Cycle "Hub" delivered excellent service! I did not realize one could get a bike fit for a mountain bike but they do! They did a fit for me on my road bike, full of science-based effectiveness, and now an artful experience on my mountain bike. The staff are devoted to satisfying customers of all types and interests. It is so good that some customers get discouraged because they have to wait as the staff are so busy. Relax and wait for a great experience. They will be thorough and educate you about what is worth buying or repairing, and what is not - and why! In short, the "Hub" environment is a happy home for enthusiasts, not just bikes but all types/levels of healthy athletic endeavors. read more

I bought a new $2000 Kona Sutra touring bike from these hacks and was treated like they were doing ME a favor. Surly and non-helpful in any way. FAR more interested in impressing each other than helping a cash-paying customer. They tried to sell me a brand new bike with serious damage to the paint, but I made them get me an un-damaged one. They tried to say that damaged paint "wasn't really damage". Total BS from worthless, ignorant people. I DO NOT recommend this store for ANYTHING - period. I'll never go back. They were the only store that had what I wanted, or I would have walked out. If Yelp provided a "zero-star" rating, I would have selected that. read more

Boulder has lots and lots of bicycle shops, way beyond what most cities this size have for its population. I've used a lot of them over the years though I am just a casual cyclist. I have my favorites, old and new and found many that just suit specific needs but not others. Some I have used merely for fixing flats because they were easy at the time and general hard for any shop to mess up. Some I will never go to again. I did first use Full Cycle decades ago in its original location on the Hill for a flat or simple fix of some sort, I don't really remember, but I could just walk there. So I did. Now, many years later they are an elite shop with a big location on the east downtown section of Pearl, even with a coffee shop inside. Seems to be a thing in a variety of shops in Boulder these days. Their main service shop is still using the old Hill location. Extremely useful for repairs of bikes of campus students who may have no other transport options but I believe most elite cyclists go downtown and all purchases are there.. I was in need of some advice on renovating one or both of my bikes in some ways to try to begin riding again after a year and a half lapse due to health and injuries and of all the shops I talked too, I found a staff member here who was the most understanding and made the most helpful suggestions for me. It turned out that once I followed her advice, I did not actually need to change out the tires on the bike I went in about because her riding suggestions got me going again on my favorite bike. I did end up changing the other bike a bit and did that elsewhere at a shop that had done the same for my husband and put those same tires on mine. I will reserve the option to do the first bike at a later date and will most likely do it at Full Cycle. Sometimes it's the people who are everything to an experience. read more

Very good experience renting bikes at this place. We didn't have a reservation when we walked in but the staff was helpful when we asked about getting hooked up. The young man helping us asked us several questions such as the type of ride we wanted to do, experience and how long we wanted to stay out. Super helpful. He got us sized up, outfitted with helmets and a lock. Very Friendly. Took about 30 min to get in and out. They also have a great coffee adn drink shop set up there and you can fill your water bottles up for no charge. We also enjoyed tacos and tamales from the food truck out front. I loved the tamales which were chicken hatch chile. I do recommend this place for bike rentals and lunch afterwards. read more

A jewel on Pearl: whether you ride a bike or not: Fantastic Venue to have coffee in AM (open @ 0700 hrs). Bike shop open at 1000 hrs. PLUGS under the bar!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Got there early. Great friendly service. Had light breakfast, chatted biking, watched TV while waiting for bike mechanics to arrive. They diagnosed the problem immediately, and made the repairs for a very reasonable fee. I entertained myself trying out a fat-tire bike. Beers/ Wine on tap.....now I know where to come this afternoon!!! read more

Do not go to Full Cycle. Terrible experience from the moment we bought a gently used bike to numerous service failures over the years. Most recently, was told they cannot buy a part for a bike that I bought from them. Icing on the cake, they took apart a wheel without my consent and wanted to charge me $25 for their time. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else for your bike needs. read more

The staff here is really nice. I came a half an hour early to lock my bike to the front because I couldn't get there during work... And they let me come inside and drop my bike off! That is pretty rare. Especially when you're trying to open the shop and get ready for the day. That said by experience was marred When I picked it up the front tire was flat. I get that it is hard to detect a slow leak Even if you are working on tires However After leaving my bike there at the whole day I had to wait 20 minutes For them to fix the problem... Which I did not have at the time. Which I did not planned for. I would have made it up to the customer with a free tube... Which they did not do. But they do have a cute café! and with their great history of being in Boulder s zillion years there is a sense when you're in there that they are connected to the community. And with this new location... Parking is easy. Everybody who lives in the 30th and pearl development area should be pretty excited about the store read more

Just like a car, a bicycle needs regular maintenance and tune ups. components such as tires, gears, the chain and other mechanical parts wear out and need to be replaced. Since I put over 6,500 miles on my bike last year it was time to get a tune up. Spencer, the mechanic, took my bike in and after a quick inspection told me what he found. throughout the whole transaction he was friendly, courteous, and professional. After all was said and done my bike rode like it was brand new again. Thanks guys for a great experience! read more

Do not shop here. My friend who is new to road cycling and I (cyclist of 10 years) went here to get her gear to get started on the bike. We went to Full Cycle because her new bike is a Giant, and Full Cycle is the shop in town to service that brand. We had the worst bike shop experience of my life. We started by heading to the back, and presented my friend's many material needs (helmet, shoes, pedals, cleats, shorts, jersey, saddle, etc...) to the man behind the counter. With all the enthusiasm of Ferris Bueller's economics teacher, he helped us to pedals and a helmet, before monotonically asking "is that all?" It was not, and he was graciously willing to point us in the direction of the next item on our list before going to eat his lunch. We found shorts and were looking at shoes, when a genuinely helpful (but elsewhere occupied) employee named Stephanie came by and greeted us enthusiastically. She was delighted to learn that my friend had just gotten a bike, and a mere minute in her presence was enough to make me begin to feel better about our interaction with her lobotomized colleague. Alas. This ray of light shined all too briefly into our lives. As we looked at shoes, we had the misfortune of attracting the attention of another employee, who we would be stuck with for the rest of our stay. Unlike the first, this one was capable of expressing emotions, but only negative or dismal ones. Were there shoes in the store that would accommodate the cleats my friend wanted to start out with but also allow her to upgrade later? Were there non-mountain bike shoes around $100 that fit at least some of her needs? No, and no. And no need to elaborate. No need to make an effort to look at online inventory or ask for assistance from someone - anyone! - else. We went with the inflexible mountain bike shoes. Yay! We continued the rest of our shopping with this employee's Sword of Damocles of a persona hanging tangibly about the room. At one point I asked if we would be able to get the bike quick-fit to her after her purchase. In my experience doing my own bike shoppings and others with new-to-cycling friends, you generally don't even have to ask for this. If you're buying a ton of gear at a store (and in some instances even if you're not), bike shop employees who take pride in their work are usually eager to help you get started in the right position on your machine. Our employee said "yes" in a tone that conveyed only deep reluctance. Finally, my friend made her $500+ purchase. Our employee, having evidently forgotten her pre-purchase "offer" of minutes ago, asked "is there anything else you need?" I brought back up the quick-fit, and (because I sensed this wasn't going to be readily forthcoming) might we go to the trainers in the back? "This is getting to be sort of like a real bike fit," she protested. Putting aside the fact that it really wasn't - we were asking for a few minutes of her time after spending over $500 just to check that the bike, which my friend had never ridden before, seemed ridable with its newfound pedals and saddle - she had already agreed to something - presumably this? - before my friend swiped her credit card. After a few minutes fiddling unsuccessfully with the trainer, the Employee of Doom announced that we could instead just fit my friend while holding the bike in a standing position. Cool. The seat, we determined, was way too tall for her even at its lowest height. They would have to cut a bit of carbon off with a special Giant tool. A tool that neither of us at this point were eager to have this or our first employee come within 50 feet of my friend's bike with. This story, fortunately, has a happy ending. We wandered into University Bikes out of mortification with the treatment we had received at Full Cycle. Despite their not servicing Giant, and despite our not having spent a dime at their shop or asked for anything, one of their employees was quick to get my friend on a trainer, and spent 20 minutes telling her everything she needed to know about various of the moving and non-moving parts on her machine, and also validly pointing out that the saddle Full Cycle had sold us is a bad match for a short rider like my friend. We asked if there were Giant shops other than Full Cycle in Boulder, where we live. Turns out there's one in Golden and one in Denver, making our decision to never go back to Full Cycle a trivial one. We strongly regret making the purchases we did at Full Cycle. The staff took alarmingly little pride in their trade, and treated us as though they didn't want us there. On that count, at least, we are now of a mind. read more

I bought a number of bikes here over the years, not the least because of the "free lifetime tuneups" policy that they had in place when I bought my first one. I sent a lot of friends there, too, many of whom bought bikes. I called today to schedule the tuneup but was told that they have apparently reversed course on that policy -- and not just going forward, on new bikes. Retroactively. As in: "we promised you that but we're not going to keep our promise." The shop person had the gall to point out that I should be grateful that they'd given me free tuneups for all those years. Reneging on commitments is bad business, which is really stupid in a bike-mad town like Boulder, where people marry themselves to a home shop. Well, my home shop just gave me reasonable grounds for divorce, and there are a lot of other good shops here. read more

One of the service people literally turned their backs to indicate they didn't want to chat and when approached gave terse, unhelpful responses. Go where you are wanted. read more

I have to give Full Cycle 5 stars. They have provided great service and very competitive pricing on 2 bikes I've purchased here. They have been consistently friendly and helpful when I have dropped in with questions or to pick up odds & ends. Will not step foot in this shop again. I have no clue how they won the "Best Bike Shop in Boulder County 2019" award. Probably because people voted for the coffee / bar lounge and not the actual bicycle part of the business. Heres my entire story, buckle up. In the market for a new bike, demoed a few. Decided to go with one from Full Cycle. I purchased last years model, brand new at a slight discount. I was happy they worked with me on that. But as soon as they got the sale, goodbye customer service. 3 rides into owning the new bike, I find a crack in my frame. Take in and Full Cycle send pictures to the manufacturer. Over the next few weeks I call multiple times only to get multiple, conflicting answers from everyone I talk to. Then, they basically tell me to stop calling, and they will call me when they have an update. About 3 weeks later I decided to call again (the squeaky wheel gets the oil)... What do ya know, the manufacturer is going to warranty my frame, but Full Cycle never called to inform me. They tell me "oh, all we need is you to bring your bike in so we can take more pictures"... They just didn't want to call me and keep me in the loop I guess. Another few weeks and the frame finally arrives, I drop the bike off and they say, verbatim, "it'll only take a day or two". Same story, I call multiple times only to be told various things, all ending with, "we'll call you when it's ready". Another 3ish+ weeks and I call again... "yeah it's ready, you can come grab it", again, they didn't feel like calling me. My bike has been just sitting there and missed a trip to Arizona with a few friends because of this delay. I get to the shop and they slap a $180 bill in my face, for parts and labor, on a job I didn't want done in the first place. It's a warranty on a 3 day old bike, why am I paying almost $200. The tech told me "I'll talk to my operations manager to see what we can do"... Yeah bull crap dude. At this point I'm counting that as a complete loss. Heres where I write them off completely. I get home with my bike, take it off the bike rack, go to ride it around my neighborhood with my dog. I squeeze the front brake only to realize I have no pads in it. One of the pistons got pushed completely out, and oil got all over the rotor... No pads in the brake, no pin through the caliper. Not sure how this was overlooked. But embarrassing performance by the tech if you ask me. Enough is enough, I took the bike inside to give it a complete inspection and run through (I used to work in a shop on the sales side, but I perform 100% of the service on all of my bikes, from drive train to brakes to suspension, so I know what I'm talking about). Then I find that the dropper post takes almost 10 seconds to fully extend... Of course. I open the adjuster and see that its already maxed out on speed, so I ensure that there is sufficient psi in the post, there's not... I pump it up to the proper level, still comes up at a snails pace. So I give it a complete bleed, problem solved. Again, terrible service. Continue inspecting the bike, grease all over the bottom bracket area. Grease all over the main pivot. Grease oozing out of the headset. Handlebars look like they were aligned by someone who was drunk. Yeah, maybe not the biggest deal, but the lack of attention to detail yields a lack of confidence and support to the shop as a whole. I am very disappointed with the entire process, and concerned about the bike entirely. Who knows how poorly they pressed the bottom bracket in, or if everything is properly torqued. Needless to say I'll be checking all that myself. It's frustrating that the shop had such lackadaisical communication, zero attention to detail on the rebuild of my bike, and then presumes to give me a $180 bill. I paid nearly $5,000 on this brand new bike. I should be able to expect some sort of customer service. Hell, Ive had 10x better service from a car dealership than full cycle, and that's saying a lot. 8/10 Sales / buying experience 0/10 Communication 0/10 Service on the bike itself 0/10 Overall customer service. 10/10 Will never return again, not even for a cliff bar. read more

Boulder has a lot of bike shops. Understatement of the year! But when I decided on a new Liv mountain bike this spring, Full Cycle was the place. And every time I walk in, I just feel right at home. From sales to service to the coffee bar....everyone clearly enjoys working here, and working with their customers. Service has been particularly great, from helping tweak the bike with purchased upgrades, to making sure that their work is done right spot on. Excellent communication, too. read more

I just scheduled a "Pint Tune" for my road bike on the phone with Damon for January and prepaid with store credit, a gift card, and a credit card. He gets major bonus points for completing this transaction with a super-positive attitude and making me feel like I'm a valued customer. This is consistent with all of my experiences at Full Cycle and The Tune Up Tavern every time I come in--throughout the cycling season and during the off season, no matter how busy they are. Went on a C no drop group ride with the OWNER of the full cycle boulder as a leader. Felt very unsafe as he told us to ride abreast the whole time, giving NO CHOICE or option for those who feel uncomfortable - I felt stuck not enjoying the ride. Another two persons have expressed they don't enjoy the ride as well. I've been riding bike for a long time but I did not feel secure riding with other ppl who have never done it before by constantly breaking, slowing down or stop pedaling. Nor have anybody told me what to do on the ride unless I was in unsafe situation. People were beyond the white line most of the time and car has honked at us. At one of the streets WITHOUT SHOULDER I called a single line as felt dangerous on a busy road. He TOLD ME to go back to my partner on the next street. At the end of the ride he gathered us only to shame "Karen" , " that woman" (i.e me, my name is Anya) because I promoted SAFETY by calling a single line on a road without shoulder. Bikelaw.com : Bicyclists shall not ride more than two abreast except on paths or parts of the roadways set aside for the exclusive use of bicycles. My all time favorite repair shop. Purchased a Trek carbon from them in 1996 from the shop on the hill. Always friendly, reasonably priced repairs that didn't take a week to get back on the road. When I moved to north Boulder area I really tried to support another shop, but after three lousy service experiences there (overcharged, wrong repair, several week delay) along with several mediocre experiences I decided to try Full Cycle on Pearl recently... and all I can say is, "WOW!" Super friendly - they actually have some life in their customer service faces. Bike was fixed overnight, and the cheapest repair I've ever had. And thanks to the gal who came back to help get the line moving when I was there for pick up. read more

Nice spot with good beer selection and outdoor seating. Can't recommend the staff in the bike shop, though. A quick clarifying question about having beer in the bike area ended up with a judgmental look coupled with a nasty comment regarding my ability to multitask holding a beer and walking. Both employees treated me poorly and laughed as I walked by. Unfortunately we're currently in the market for a new bike and won't ever be back. I had a terrible customer service experience at Full Cycle. Will not be spending my money here again. I came into Full Cycle with a bike I had recently purchased used, and was ready to drop several hundred dollars on needed components and gear. Two of the three staff members I interacted with had terrible attitudes: they were unfriendly, judgmental, snobby, and completely unwilling to advise me on issues related to outfitting my bike. I was made to feel that a relative newbie like me was wasting their time and had no business asking for advice. For example: After buying my gear, I requested a few moments of a staff member's time to help tweak the fit of my new saddle and pedals. She literally groaned, rolled her eyes at me, and gave me the minimum amount of service she could get away with. It would have been comical had I not been a paying customer who just dropped $500! By contrast, later that afternoon, I walked into University Bikes for a second opinion on fit, and a staff member there enthusiastically advised me for 20+ minutes, without me spending a dime. I will be taking my bike to University Bikes for service and parts in the future. To the staff of Full Cycle: Yes, I'm new to cycling and needed some help to get started. I am also in the market for a bike shop I could have an ongoing relationship with. You treated me like a burden. You had the opportunity to make me a returning customer, and you blew it. read more

I am impressed with Full Cycle's customer service. I called to schedule a tune-up, but after describing the problem I had with my bike to Dane, he suggested I stop in the store that day so he could check it out. Dane discovered something faulty with my bike and emailed me a description of the issue along with photos so I could pass these on to the manufacturer to have it resolved. I really appreciate his thoroughness. Also, Full Cycle has a good system for spacing out customers to observe social distancing. Thanks! read more
