My daughter has been going here for almost a year and it's been a positive experience all around.read more

Since the Doylestown location doesn't have a Yelp page, I believe this is the local HQ's location…read moreand I guess I'll leave my review here. My child attended for speech for approximately 7 months, we started in September 2020. The only spot that they had an opening for was in Doylestown even though we live in Willow Grove. They claimed that they'd put us on the waitlist for Horsham (as a side note, I literally got a call from Horsham in September 2021 to see if we were still interested in services, which was honestly laughable. A year? Yeah right.) First of all, the therapists were a mixed bag. They seemed to have quite high turnover and therefore, issues with scheduling. Scheduling overall is an absolute nightmare. If you're a working parent, good luck with this. There is no consistency whatsoever in the schedule. You have to call at 7:45 AM a MONTH before and it's literally like the Hunger Games to see if you can get a spot. It was a total nightmare for someone like me who would need to drive 40 minutes each way. Initially, we attended in person, but once one of the therapists tested positive for Covid and thereby exposed our child to it, we decided to go virtual. Initially, we had 60 minute sessions, but they tried switching us to 30 minute sessions - obviously to fit in more people. We agreed to that eventually, even though it cost us the same amount of money for our co-pay. The team approach isn't ideal either. They communicated between each other somewhat, but not well enough. One therapist in particular (who is no longer there) seemed to be quite impatient with young children and regularly chastized me for not coming back to in-person. Well, sorry that one of the therapists exposed my child to Covid and I'm not comfortable returning, and driving 80 minutes round-trip and needing to take personal time for that, in addition to the session... at random times throughout the week since your company offers no consistency... The people who work with insurance are also not the best at Theraplay. They gave us incorrect information MULTIPLE times, stating that our virtual coverage was expiring - when I called my insurance company, they had no idea what they were talking about. When I initially tried to get my child set up, the people who work with insurance at Theraplay were clueless and couldn't understand my insurance... which is Blue Cross Blue Shield... pretty normal IMO. We were told in April 2021 that they didn't have any availability at the moment for early morning and evening sessions for us, I guess I wasn't able to call at 7:45 AM every single day because oh, I have a full-time job. They kept offering us 2 PM, 3 PM, etc. We just could not make that work, and discontinued services after waiting about a month for a call to fit us in. We wondered at the time why they were so short-staffed and were having so much trouble finding new therapists, and now it makes sense... people probably don't want to work for them. Also, they kept promising us progress reports, and never sent us copies. We had to specifically ask for them at the end so that we could show them to the place we were transferring to. I found that bizarre. Overall, it was not a great experience for me as a parent dealing with Theraplay. This review isn't necessarily a reflection of the therapists who work there - as most of them did quite well with my child - it's a reflection of the company as a whole and the way that they do business. We've since found a place that is closer to us and actually offers consistent scheduling and allows your child to see the same therapist weekly.
