She explains to him what she's doing and respects him as the patient. In my experience, not all practitioners do this. The office is comfortable and clean. I recently went back because of the permanent, inside wires became loose and had to have it reglued. I was upset that they were not transparent with their pricing. I was told a certain price over the phone and they said I could decide whether to move forward with the process or not, but when they took me in and the Orthodontist had already reviewed my mouth and the broken piece, at that point, I was charged for the consultation and could not go back. I wish I had known that it would be $240 to repair, I would have checked somewhere else first.
