They have great bedside manner and service. Decor is beautiful. Received a consultation and I unexpectedly got bottom teeth braces same day. I felt confident with the options offered to me. I came in fully thinking I would get Invisalign and walked out w bottom braces instead. I was given the pros and cons of each, and felt it was the better option for me since Invisalign is more maintenance. Unprofessional and lacking customer service! I order my retainers in April (paid for) and walked in to pick up the retainers per a text notification in May only to be told that they were not ready and I would receive a call when they arrived. It is now June and I have emailed them with no response and when I called they told me they were there ready for pick up since May. Customer service lacks and they made me feel so unwelcome, do not recommend!!! There are more inexpensive places with great customer service AVOID this one! read more

I usually never leave reviews, but considering I have 5-6 years of experience in orthodontics I had to...At first I was happy with the treatment and chair side manner of this practice. About 1/2 through my treatment things started falling apart. From poor communication, to lack of progress with my treatment( was told I would be done in 6months), after almost a year I gave up , no movement was happening, always having to get progress scans done ( and another 4 week wait for new trays. I let them know from the very beginning im a hard grinder/bruxer and wear through the trays after 2 weeks of wear. After being extremely frustrated with going through 6 weeks of trays and no progress/movement what so ever, I had a follow up appt for last polishing touches and.... another failed communication from the front office that the Dr. ( Dr. Allen isnt in office) but that an associate of his is helping out for the week. The second to last nail in the coffin, at my supposedly last visit I was supposed to have finishing details ( top four teeth trimmed and polished) the associate refused to do it, said he would be uncomfortable with doing it considering id be at the end of my treatment. The final nail in the coffin was being told I would have a replacement set of trays ready for me at the end of the same week and would get called to get them when they were ready, and that the practice manager would reach out to me and coordinate with Dr. allen to fit me in after office hours to get scanned for an orthotic appliance. Still have yet to be contacted or followed up with. Very disappointed in the lack of communication, service. Its an even bigger disappointment that im still having to make monthly payments towards a treatment that will never be finished with a smile im not happy with. read more

Poor communication skills, I requested my files to be sent over to a different treatment center across country and a month later they still have yet to send it. Anyone who has braces/works with braces knows that a month plus delay of treatment/ work can severely damage any progress made. Im severely disappointed and discourage anyone who cannot go physically in person and watch them send a simple email to request treatment here. The office is conveniently located on Oceanside Blvd. The parking in front of the office is abundant and never an issue. The office staff is pleasant and professional. We opted for gold braces for the bottom teeth, invisalign on the top teeth, and a lifetime retainer. The cost for all that was very competitive with other estimates. However, Allen orthodontics came highly recommended by a family friend so that's how we decided on the office. We were surprised how fast her teeth moved and straightened. The down side it that they are a very busy dental office. Once you make an appointment if for some reason you have to cancel or reschedule it is going to take a while to get back on the calendar. To their credit, they do try and work with you to find something sooner its just not always possible. My niece ended up moving out of state prior to her treatments being competed. They sent over the required paperwork promptly. Overall, I think Dr. Allens Orthodontics is a top-rated. I just finished my treatment as an adult patient. I paid upfront for invisalign but ended up doing braces on my bottom teeth because the trays were painful due to how crooked my bottom teeth were. The staff is friendly for the most part. The price was cheap compared to other places. I knocked off a few stars because I didn't care for the orthodontist. He maybe said two words to me throughout my entire treatment. Never said hi, how was I, never discussed my progress or treatment plan. Genuinely seemed disinterested in patient engagement. I didn't even know I was getting my braces off until I overheard him make a side comment to the aide to take them off, and then he walked away ‍ My teeth are not as perfectly straight as I'd hoped-for, but they're exponentially better than they were. My neighbor had gotten "Adult braces" and I was poking fun at her. The positive, she lost weight! I was joking saying I was going to have to get some as my new weight loss plan. Little did I know I would visit my dentist a week later only to be told I needed, you got it, BRACES! Ok, I could deal with this... with Invisalign in mind I checked into Dr Allen's office only to be told, after examination, I was not a candidate for Invisalign. Ugh! So, the adventure(and the weight loss plan) begins. Oct 32st, Halloween day I decided to start my "weight loss program" & have the braces placed to help me avoid the inevitable gorging on Halloween Candy! The office staff could not be more attentive, the atmosphere is kid friendly as expected, I never once felt odd for being an ADULT needing braces. The financial plan worked for me as well. I'm. Or on my 4th wire change. The first two changes took done getting use to and were quite painful. It's more of a gross inconvenience now. Appointments are easy to make, changes as well. When I first started going to Allen Orthodontics, I was about 12 years old. I had a fantastic experience and I remember always being excited for appointments. My mom also went through the brace treatment and then once my younger sister lost her baby teeth, she started treatment as well. Again, great experience for all 3 of us. Fast forward about 6/7 years, I went in as an adult to get braces again to correct my bite. During my consultation, I met with Alicia, again. This time around she was so extremely rude, made comments that I wouldn't be able to pay for the treatment , and wouldn't even offer to set up the next appointment to get the braces put on. Through the entire duration of my treatment, she would give me the dirtiest looks and all around made me so uncomfortable. After just a few months, I couldn't deal with the issues at Dr. Allen's office, I made an appointment to get my braces off before I was supposed to. Once I got them off, I was so relieved so never have to deal with these people ever again. Yet another issue sprung. They offer a one time price to pay for lifetime retainers. Not once did they mention this nor add it onto the treatment plan. When my mom and sister got their braces off, this plan was added onto the payment plan at the beginning of the treatment so I was very confused as to why it wasn't added on for me. I ended up having to pay the few hundred dollars in full to receive the lifetime retainer option. Since then, management never called me back to go over the way I was treated. They completely blew me off and that was it. After my family has spent over 10 grand there and referred everyone we know, it is a giant slap in the face to get treated this horribly. There office is clean and modern with what I believe is the latest tech. Their customer service is absolutely amazing. They return your calls in a timely manner as well. Super bummed to write this review but feel like at this point I have to. My son went to Allen orthodontics for about 18 months back in 2015/2016 and we absolutely loved them! They did as much as they could for him to get the braces off as soon as possible, the orthodontist took all the kids to the movies once a year he would buy out the theater it was a real treat, they would accommodate rescheduled appts. In a timely manner. I recommended them To a bunch of my friends. Oh boy has this place changed! Seems to be more corporate and not personalized, we moved to Fallbrook and I insisted on coming here over 30 mins away because we loved it the first time with our son. Now my daughter is going here and it hasn't been the same great experience. If you try to reschedule an appt last minute for any reason illness or whatever, they offer you the next one two months away and most of these appts are ten mins long. There's no special exceptions made, which in turn adds two months to your treatment plan. It's a two year commitment regardless of what your teeth need, they do nothing to get you out of your braces early, they have it set up every two months no matter what the treatment plan is, I'm assuming to move as many in and out as possible not customized to their individual patients. They moved offices and office is nicer but the overall experience is not. It's colder more corporate and not the good experience we had with our son. If I could do all over again I would go somewhere closer to home, where we the patient mattered and weren't just a number. read more

They're friendly, but they're just too busy - you can't get an appointment! They scheduled my son's appt. 10 weeks out. A family emergency came up and I called a week before his next appt. to reschedule and they can't see him for another 8 weeks! That means they will not have seen him for 18 WEEKS, yet they continue to bill us monthly! What exactly are we paying for? I realize every case is different and he may not need adjustments as often as others (my other son was every 3-4 weeks at different orthodontist), but 18 weeks between appointments is unacceptable. read more

My dentist recommended this place, and it couldn't have been more convenient! I got a great vibe the second I pulled up and saw the beautiful living wall right in front where I parked. After entering my wait was short and the front desk girls (one named Kendra who I just clicked with right away) were easy to talk to, very personable and fun as well as professional. I was taken to get pictures and the technician was great. She was also easy to talk to and had a great personality. I was then told that they COULD put braces on me that day!!! I was so excited! If I could give this ortho zero, I would. I was an adult patient here in 2013-2014. Long story short, I didn't like where the ortho was going. They made me get extractions so I got extractions for the ortho which changed my face in a negative way. When I originally went in they also didn't give me any options besides extractions. I asked to reverse it back. He said no. I had already had TMJ and the ortho work was making the TMJ worse. (I went to a TMJ specialist from the begining of treatment to when I decided to stop treatment at Allen so I have proof it got worse). Turns out your actually supposed to fix the TMJ before braces. Something Allen Ortho didn't care about in my case. Any questions or concerns I had, I literally would get eye rolled by Allen. You're a pay check here, they sincerely don't care about you. I would go elsewhere to someone who cares about the patients and not the money. Side note: the staff is very nice. The office is clean. The ortho himself is not caring and that's one of the main parts of an ortho office- how caring your ortho is. read more
