Two weeks after my hair-cut appointment, I received a phone call informing me that we were "not a good fit." For a moment, I thought perhaps my hair had filed a complaint without telling me. I calmly asked why--not to argue or change anyone's mind, but simply to understand so I could learn something for future appointments. The answer? Still, "We're not a good fit." Apparently my assignment was to solve this mystery with no clues...and no stylist's notes. What made this especially disappointing was that this wasn't just a routine color appointment. We had spent considerable time discussing what I believed would be a long-term transition plan to gradually blend my colored hair into my natural gray using lower-chemical products. My understanding was that it would be a careful process that could take a year or two, with appointments lasting hours along the way. I left excited to begin that journey. So the unexpected phone call two weeks later was genuinely shocking. Looking back, perhaps we truly weren't "a good fit." That's perfectly okay. I wasn't looking for a friendship--I was looking for an experienced colorist who could guide me through this transition. If she had simply said, "I don't think I'm the right person for this project," I would have completely respected that. I just wish she had communicated more clearly and specifically and reminded me of the transition plan we had discussed so I could continue my search intelligently with another colorist. Instead, I was left wondering if my hair had committed a crime while I wasn't looking. One star for communication. I'm deeply involved in natural wellness and herbalism, and I was excited to support a local herbalist. Unfortunately, every part of this experience--from the haircut to the product purchase--was mishandled, disorganized, and ultimately disrespectful. I initially booked a hair ritual service that was advertised to include customized herbal products, steam, tea, a snack bar, and an immersive, 1.5-hour experience. None of that happened. There was no tea, no steam, no snack bar. I wasn't offered water until I asked. There was no massage--despite it being a standard part of this type of service--and the entire appointment lasted only an hour. The haircut and style took about 10 minutes and there was no sense of the "ritual" I was promised. It felt like a rushed haircut with none of the special elements I had paid for. The cut was OK but nothing exceptional. I had also paid $20 for the mandatory consultation beforehand and was told that fee would be deducted from the haircut cost. At checkout, she gave me a $20 "discount" because according to her, the service was shorter than promised--but it was really just the consultation fee being subtracted. It didn't feel like a genuine acknowledgment of the service being cut short. The problems didn't stop there. After the initial consult, I texted her to purchase powdered herbal hair wash, which turned into an absolute fiasco and I highly regret ever doing so. At first, I planned to pick it up locally, but her store hours were super inconvenient for me. I asked her to ship it instead, I provided my Box number, assuming she knew the correct zip code for my town, since we're both local. She shipped it to my old post office, in the next town over. She was super upset, claimed she lost money, and had given me a replacement during the haircut--but then told me it was all taken care of and the original was returned to her PO. That should have been the end of it but three weeks later, a badly crushed, suspicious package showed up at my home. My husband and I were honestly creeped out by it. It was a reused soy candle box--which is unacceptable on its own, but especially careless considering I have a soy allergy. The box was also supposedly compostable with mint seeds embedded, which felt gimmicky and out of touch for someone who gardens professionally. Inside was the original hair wash. I texted her to ask what to do with it, assuming I could donate it as I have already made my own custom hair wash blend and do not need any more from her. She demanded I either drive it (30 minutes one way) back to her in person (during her incredibly limited and inconvenient hours) or pay for it again. When I explained I had no time to return it at this time and wasn't comfortable paying for a second jar due to all the confusion and lack of professionalism, she lashed out big time. She accused me of feeling "entitled," told me I was banned from her salon (I had already booked with someone else), and was shockingly rude. I almost am scared to even leave this review because she seems unstable and the last thing I need is her to cause me further harm. This entire experience--from the misleading service to the chaotic product delivery--left me feeling misled, disrespected, and disturbed. Trust is important when purchasing herbal products, and given the poor packaging, shipping confusion, and overreaction, I cannot recommend this business. It may look appealing on the surface, but the reality was a major letdown.
