Hit this place on Friday ramen night with some good friends. Being a Sansei from Gardena I have a pretty high bar for ramen. So you order and pay in one line, they give you a buzzer and pick it up when summoned. I gotta tell you the mushroom miso ramen that my wife and I ordered hit the spot on this chilly evening. Appealingly presented and generous in proportion, this steaming bowl of savory, umami goodness did not disappoint! We also ordered a side of vegetable tempura that was spot on crispy, light. I love their chicken leek dumplings and the 5-spice chili oil! We created Dumpling Wednesday in their honor. We used to get them at the Live Oak farmers market. Then no more :(. Waited in a ridiculously long line to pick them up once at the brick and mortar restaurant. Next time I went they were closed. Hours are sporadic and then they raised the prices. I went to full steam dumpling after Chef Andy came to one of my classes and took time out of his day to teach us how he makes dumplings just like how he does at his restaurant. He was so friendly and welcoming to everyone so I had to check out the restaurant. The place itself is in the middle of a lively location with lots of events happening. The family and I went on trivia night so of course it was bound to be busy but still enjoyed the experience. The prices were on the pricier side but the taste and quality were worth it. I went to the Szechuan night and ordered the spicy mapo tofu. Considering the dish cost 16$ (rounding to about 21 with tip and tax) I expected it to be pretty noteworthy. My dish came about fifteen minutes later and was very subpar. The tofu was sitting in a soup of thick red sauce with white rice. Mapo tofu, traditionally, is doused in a light red oil chili sauce. It tasted as if they cut the tofu right out of the box, tossed it in red tomato sauce, then microwaved it. I was pretty disappointed. I think that if the dish were priced around ten dollars, maybe, I could have rationalized the poor quality. Perhaps it could be improved by frying the tofu (making it slightly crispy), thinning out the red sauce and adding more flavor. Anyways, do not get this dish for now. read more

Oh. My. God. Amazing gyoza with chili sauce to die for.We stumbled upon these first at the Live Oak Farmers' Market and continued on to sample their bao and ramen at Friday Ramen Night at the Santa Cruz Food Lounge which was well worth the wait in line and so delicious.We tried the squash gyoza and the chicken and the pork:all mouthwatering. The mustard chicken bao was also very tasty. and the pork and kabocha ramen were fresh and wonderful. There is ample space to eat at the lounge inside and out. The patio is lovely on an October evening. Love! And can't wait to try their Wednesday offerings. We checked them on Instagram to see what specials were but there was far more. Ordered dinner here last night. We had the Kung pao chicken, pork dumplings, and mushroom bao. Food was good but by 10pm my husband and I were sick with food poisoning. While visiting Santa Cruz this past week, we enjoyed trying some of the local restaurants. By far the most outstanding meal we had was the one we ordered from Full Steam Dumpling. The food was great, and the staff who handed over our (take out) food was super nice. They were slammed (which seems typical) and he was apologetic about the delay and gave us some extra gyoza to make up for it. Totally unnecessary but greatly appreciated. I hope this place morphs into a full-blown restaurant. We'll be back! read more

Checked out the pop up at the Westside farmers market last weekend. Prices and food looked good so after my wife ordered chicken dumplings and was told "10 minutes" we cancelled our other lunch plans to order more for the whole family. Though the food was pretty good, I have to dock a few stars because the single order of chicken dumplings took merely 35 minutes, and the whole time we waited, the guy taking orders was reaching under his mask and touching his nose and mouth and handing out other customers orders. Seriously, he didn't use the hand sanitizer on the counter one time. By the time the food finally came we were behind hungry and grossed out. read more

The environment and ambiance was very nice it was a fairly pretty place. It gave a certain level of community. It was fairly busy when we came by later in the afternoon. The service was fairly quick and food came out fast. The only thing that really was lacking was the food. This was probably one of the worst ramens I've had. I've ordered dumplings from them before at Farmer's Markets, and those came with five. Also, $3 for half a container of rice?? Food is really good, we tried this place for the first time so we order 6 things and a few drinks for 2 people, however I have to take a few stars down because there is no person cleaning the tables, we ask for containers to go and the lady that served our drinks gave me some large clear plastic containers, wet and greasy inside and out with spices allover, her hands where moist and so were the containers (gross) soo she gave me some dirty containers rinsed with water, disgusting it ruined our delicious meal. I walk out of there feeling sick, and disappointed not sure to go back to the "food lounge" or eat at that place. I don't mind to pay extra for New containers but if some person give me dirty ones that is some sort of red flag. San Jose just started a second covid lockdown and even that this is Santa Cruz stills is disgusting if they give you dirt containers for your food.
