Every dish is as delicious! Six adults and two children (5 & 8 ) Each one of us ordered what we wanted plus appetizers. Service was outstanding. We sat at a round table with a lazy-Susan of course the kids loved spinning it to their favorite goodie. The DISHES ( and we had plenty )were delicious with all our favorite Chinese. Our son and his wife visiting were delighted, in their area they don't have a Chinese restaurant. The beautiful kimono was so interesting and had a write up with it. But the food is a mix of American Chinese food and more traditional sichuan food. The boiling fish is one of my favorite dishes. We had take out. The potstickers were good, the combo sizzling platter was disappointing. Not sautéed but just reheated and watery. The mandarin duck was very disappointing especially for the price. This is the worst Fried Rice and "Prawn" egg foo yung. These look like premade hash browns. Look at the so called prawns. They're in fact really small. You can tell. By the body. I can't figure this food out. It's not Chinese food. The House Fried rice? Minuscule pieces of chicken , pork slivers and looks like the same shrimp. It's greasy and has that mushy yet raw rice. I've eaten rice my whole life. I've made rice with my middle finger as my measurement guide. This rice is much in the middle but the ends were crunchy. It's like they didn't wait for the rice to cool completely before using it. All of this is going straight to the trash. Horrible and so disappointing. read more

Classic mostly Cantonese (mild) Chinese restaurant. The veggies were perfectly cooked and the tofu perfectly fried. The hot and sour soup had a kick! The servers were very sweet. We stumbled in here after surfing one day looking for some hot and sour soup and it has quickly become our "regular" Chinese spot. Everything we tried has been insanely good. The first time we got the crispy tofu and we loved it so much we ordered it the next 3 times. Then we decided to branch out and got the chow mein and wow. Then we got sesame chicken and same. Now Dynasty chicken is at the top of our list. But the thing that recommends the staff the most is how much they make you feel like family. They have remembered us from the first day we came in--they always bring our hot and sour soup and know we like their jasmine tea, and make recommendations that are perfect based on what we've ordered before. They are friendly and welcoming ... I truly can't say enough good things. And ask Amy about the sandals they have--sounds funny but they're super cute. I was very skeptical because I am usually disappointed with Chinese restaurants but I wasn't this time. I ordered d-4 which came with fried rice, chowmein, dynasty chicken and an egg roll. Dynasty chicken was sweet and savory at the same time. It was like a mix of orange chicken and Kung Pao sauce. I do not know if I would get it again but I definitely liked it. Fried rice was full flavor and my favorite out of everything. I would say their chowmein is very unique compared to others. They add some sort of pepper sauce or maybe sesame? So.. something has changed? This was my go to and I.moved from SC in 2023. I am visiting and excited to get a to go order and it was less than subpar. The kung pao was actually dry and chicken used was very fatty dark meat. Steamed rice was overcooked. Egg rolls were soggy and uncooked filling. What happened??! The 2 stars are for them refunding a $7 over charge.. check your receipts! I am updating this to a no star rating. The eggrolls have something very off with over seasoning and again very dry, gritty texture. It's inedible. read more

My and my partners favorite Chinese food in Santa Cruz! We try to come at least once a week and do take out often. Amy is almost always our server and she is extremely kind and really funny and willing to crack a joke with us. The food is amazing too, my partner often gets a combo plate and if I'm there for dinner I always get salt and pepper chicken and cream cheese wontons! Their lunch specials can't be beaten in Santa Cruz either, so many options and great prices. I always get the kung pao chicken with veggie fried rice for lunch. Anytime I'm sick I also order their wonton soup which is so yummy and packed with veggies and a great broth. Give this place a try! read more

Wow. Not sure what happened to this place. I've been here on several different occasions and always enjoyed the food and service. It used to be your typical Chinese food with a very nice decor. Decor is the same, but the food and service was horrible. It was a birthday dinner for my dad and there were five of us. Everyone's food was terrible. The won ton soup was bland and tasted mostly like peanut oil. The only thing that passed for Chinese food was the sweet and sour pork but it was still sub par. The beef with broccoli was the joke of the table. Not sure where or when they got the beef, or if it even was. The texture and chew factor was like eating a slimy boiled piece of leather. We also had to continually ask for serving wear and napkins. Might have been a plot to a movie where a bunch of kids took the staff hostage and we interrupted their robbery. It was a special occasion that was very difficult to sit through with a smile. I had to apologize to my children later and I was pretty embarrassed and upset because we don't see each other often. Best authentic Chinese restaurant in the Santa Cruz area! I've been living near Santa Cruz for 6 years and have tried the Chinese restaurants from Carmel/Monterey to Santa Cruz, and the Dynasty is by far the best. Delicious Wonton soup, they get the both the broth and the wontons right. Everything else I've ordered there is fantastic too. The prices are really reasonable, the place is authentically decorated and the staff is super agreeable. Take out is easy if there's no time to eat in. read more
