My most recent experience has compelled me to share my opinion of their service. The renaissance fair was less than a month away and I hadn't yet prepared for my Landsknecht impression to join my brother and nephews for this annual event with family and friends. The event was just 17 days away and there was much to be done in order to make my impression a lasting one. I was concerned with the shipping time and noticed the recommendation listed on their website regarding the importance in reaching out to their support team to specify any time sensitivity on orders. Liz in customer service replied via email and also contacted me via phone to ensure that I received her detailed email. She had clearly itemized the articles of my order which would delay the shipping and offered multiple alternatives for my choosing. I found Liz to be a thoughtful, attentive, polite, well spoken individual and overall quite the friendly person to interact with. Upon reflection of this experience, I can clearly recognize that my sole reason for which compelled me to share my impression here are purely due to Liz and her handling of my concerns and the care she put forth in response. Medieval Collectibles is fortunate to have an employee such as Liz - who alone has proven to raise the perceived quality of a product in her keen, vigilant handling of the customer's concerns. He looked around, and asked me to call back so he could call his manager, finally found costume and then asked me if I want to reserve it. I had reserved it at least six weeks prior. Then he asked me if I had paid for it yes. He told me to bring in receipt. It was filthy!! Chunks of ??? hair, leaves. I took photos there before I left the shop. I told him this was unacceptable. He agreed and apologized. Said manager would be there when I brought it back and I could talk to her then. I took it home vacuumed the chunks, used a Lint roller to pick up bits the vacuum could not pick up. Sewed part of the hat back on to the head where threads had broken causing the hat to tilt at an odd angle partly covering the eyes. I brought it back with photographs to show manager how nasty it was. She was not there. On duty clerk lied to me about who the manager was. (Gee, I wonder why she does not want her name given out.) He called her and he said she said there was nothing to do about it because we had accepted it in that condition. I was scheduled for an event the next morning with a number of children for photos. What could I have done? A promise is a promise. I guess the owners/manager don't consider a mascot costume rental agreement a promise. Do NOT trust this place/these people.

They do allow you to try on items which is nice. Some can be more expensive and you'd want to be certain they fit well. Besides costumes they have a ton of accessories and party themed decor. Parking is a bit tough. There's very limited space next to the building and much of the street parking is metered or a pay lot. Around Halloween it can take a few passes to find an available spot. No food or drinks allowed inside so leave them in the car.

However, on the shelf below it there was Nazi paraphernalia being sold. One of the tags literally said "Nazi $120.00". Swastikas and all. Now, this may be legal (no idea on the US laws about that), however it is very distasteful I don't appreciate that at all. If the owner bought it from somewhere, WHY. I get that's it's historical but it's very offensive to me personally. I kept thinking of the episode of It's Always Sunny in Philadelphia where the museum curator tries to call the cops on Charlie for trying to sell old Nazi uniforms. Am I missing something? Hearing of this special Halloween section me and my wife headed out to check out the shop. Wife and I are helping our daughter's eighth Grade class plan a haunted playground and we needed supplies and decorations for the haunted playground. The set ups and decorations they have here we're all very cool and different from other Louisville aria and Indiana area Halloween specialty shops. They had a very nice and large mask area that was really cool and has very unique and different Halloween mask for costumes. The store is medium size very well kept. The service on this trip was well they helped us find what we needed. Also I left with about 12 cans of silly string some carnival related decoration such as clown horns and other carnival props. Overall this is a really cool place and a fun place to browse and check out all the cool Halloween decorations, costumes, masks and supplies. Me and my family will likely make the short trip from Louisville to Jeffersonville Indiana for the future years to check out this place during Halloween season.

It was my party planning paradise…read more But I was happy to hear that Horner Novelty had another location in Jeffersonville, and I got to visit this location last week. Similar to its former location, I found this Horner Novelty to have lots of party supplies and great service. I went to Horner Novelty to find some rainbow products for a special Pride event. I found sashes, boas, window clings, banners, flags and even rainbow mustaches and lollipops. I needed balloons as well and was able to buy a small helium tank for balloons I already had as well as a large mylar rainbow balloon, which the staff inflated quickly. From the moment I walked in, I was asked by staff what they could help me with and directed me where I could go to find these items. I was also happy to find that while yes this store is smaller than its predecessor, this store is organized like the other was, with aisles dedicated to different holidays and party types and a large collection of accessories (glasses, hats, pompoms, foam fingers, etc.) organized by color. They also have a great selection of costumes and small items that you might want to give away for free at children's parties or festival booths. Plus best of all: Horner Novelty has consistently had the best prices of any party supply store I've found in Louisville. It's a bit more of a drive to get to compared to the other store, but it's worth it if you're in need of themed items to make your party stand out.
