We came up to Church Landing at Mills Falls for a long weekend right at the start of the…read moreoff-season, and it turned out to be exactly the kind of getaway we were looking for. Meredith is beautiful any time of year, but there was something especially nice about being here when things were a little quieter. From the moment we arrived, the whole place had the atmosphere we were hoping for: quaint, clean, comfortable, and genuinely welcoming.
Our room was spacious, lovely, and very comfortable, and we absolutely loved the view. There is something about waking up beside the lake that makes it very easy to forget about whatever is waiting for you back home. The property is beautifully maintained, and everything we encountered was clean and in good condition without feeling overly polished or stuffy. It has the character you want from a New Hampshire lakeside inn, but still feels like a place where you can settle in and relax.
The spa was probably one of the highlights of the weekend. We had treatments that were exceptionally relaxing, and the hot tubs overlooking the lake were the perfect place to unwind afterward. Sitting in a hot tub with the lake right in front of you is a pretty good way to spend an afternoon, especially when you aren't in any particular hurry to be anywhere else. The whole experience felt peaceful without being pretentious.
We also really enjoyed the dining here. The restaurant and bar had friendly, attentive servers who were happy to help without hovering, and the food was very enjoyable. We had a delicious breakfast in the dining room each morning, which became a nice little part of our routine. There is something about having breakfast at a place like this when you're on a long weekend that makes you slow down a bit. No rushing out the door, no worrying about the commute, just coffee, breakfast, and the lake outside.
What really stood out throughout our stay, though, was the staff. Everyone we encountered was extraordinarily friendly and accommodating. It sounds like a small thing, but it makes a huge difference. We never felt like we were bothering anyone when we had a question or needed something, and there was a genuine warmth to the service that made the entire stay more enjoyable.
Church Landing also benefits enormously from its location. Meredith and the surrounding Lakes Region are beautiful, and being right on the water gives the property a wonderful sense of place. You can come here and fill your days with restaurants, shops, boating, hiking, and exploring, or you can do what we did and spend a good portion of the weekend simply enjoying the property.
We really enjoyed our stay, loved the room and the view, and thought the spa treatments were exceptional. Everything was clean, well maintained, and thoughtfully done. Most importantly, we left feeling relaxed, which is really the point of a long weekend away.
We are already planning on coming back again soon. Five stars from us, and we would happily stay at Church Landing at Mills Falls again.
