This has got to be the best gym I've ever worked out in. A weightlifters dream with all the great equipment, new and well maintained. Gym is not crowded, each time I was there , there might have only been 2-3 other people max. Service is friendly and accommodating. We got a weekend pass as out of state visitors. Pro tip: register on a weekday, since weekends may not have a front desk person to assist Recommendations : 1) test out your access after registration. Make sure to test with door locked to avoid possible subsequent issues 2) bathroom stall was out of toilet paper, so hopefully some more can be stocked up. I've been to gyms in 12 different countries and Jack City Fitness in Boise, ID, is, by far, the best one I've stepped foot in. Boise is my hometown and I come back here to visit every year, but I spend so much time jumping between gym looking for the equipment I need depending on what I'm training that day. The moment I walked in and saw the equipment they had to offer, I knew I was home. They have everything you need to take a true holistic approach to fitness. The moment I walked in I was greeted by the welcoming staff and shown around. Unlike most places I've been around here where the front desk employee kinda looks at you weird like they're wondering why you're bothering them with your presence. All in all, Jack City is an uplifting environment with a welcoming community and unparalleled fitness resources that makes me miss it and wish I had a place like this to train at when I'm gone. I dropped in on a Friday while visiting town for the weekend and was blown away by how welcoming and knowledgeable David Woody was. His curiosity and enthusiasm made the experience even better. The facility was spotless and as well-equipped as any gym I've ever been to. They had top-of-the-line equipment for just about any training style--powerlifting, bodybuilding, CrossFit, Functional Patterns, and Knees Over Toes. On top of that, they offered an infrared sauna and a cold plunge. Next time I'm in town, this gym will definitely be at the top of my list. read more

This place is AWESOME. I'm in town for a short weekend or so and if I lived in Boise I guarantee I'd workout here. All the free weights you could need, plenty of cable machines, cardio machines OLY platforms etc. All equipment was in excellent shape, other members were kind and helpful. Very relaxed/chill vibe. Walked in to my appointment at 5:30am, only to discover I had gotten the timing off, my appointment was for 5:30 pm. Marshall, one of the trainers opened the door for me and after explaining that I had gotten the time wrong, he proceeded to still show me around and tell me about the environment and how the gym works. The location was very clean and it looked like they had plenty of equipment. I really liked the gym and the concepts they share so that it doesn't become over crowded. Great gym. I came here for a day pass while I was visiting Boise - super easy, other gyms denied me when I asked for a day pass. Clean in there, we'll maintained, and even smells good (what a concept!) Emphasis is definitely on body weight exercises and free weights with plenty of dumbbells, barbells, kettle bells, bumper plates, sleds, cables, squat racks, and olympic platforms. Few weight machines (which I dont use anyway). Lots of cardio machines though. Some unique equipment Ive never seen anywhere else, though to be fair I'm a member of an inexpensive gym back home. It wasn't very busy when I came (Friday during the day) but not sure how busy it gets at peak times such as 5-7pm. This seems like a gym for real strength and endurance trainers, people actually dedicated to the exercise lifestyle. I'd recommend it to locals who fit that profile! read more

Updating this review because I have been at this gym for about six months now and I am still hooked! For starters, just six weeks into working out here I had an in-body assessment done to see the progress I made from when I first signed up. When I looked at my results I was a bit shocked--I was 3 lbs heavier than when I first started. But then I looked at the breakdown and realized I had gained 4 lbs of muscle & lost 2.5% body fat! That, my friends, is results if you ask me! All of the workouts are very thoughtfully structured and set you up to get stronger while minimizing the risk of injury. I feel like not only am I stronger, healthier, and more energized now than I was when I first started here, I also have more flexibility and experience less soreness/stiffness. (I used to get gnarly shin stiffness when running, and that problem has subsided so much that it is practically nonexistent.) Aside from my stoked-ness (def just made that word up) about my in-body test results and my increase of strength, I am hooked on the culture of this gym. It doesn't matter whose class I go to, I always have a great work out and genuinely have so much fun. The instructors are awesome, but there is also such a positive, encouraging and welcoming vibe that all the members of this gym have. Final thoughts: Clearly, I highly recommend this gym. And more specifically, I highly recommend signing up for their unlimited classes. It is a bit spendy and more than what you would pay for a standard gym pass, but (if you actually go consistently) it is absolutely worth it as it is a wonderful investment in your health and quite frankly, your confidence. These classes give you workouts that are made with a lot of strategy behind them, trainers that will help you get strong and fit in a safe way, and provide a fun/non-intimidating fitness community to be apart of. For real, my final thoughts: There is no start up fee, no cancellation fee, no once yearly "gym upkeep" fee (rolling my eyes at another gym whose name I shall not mention here). Jack City keeps it simple: once a month a withdraw comes out of your bank account. You can cancel anytime--no questions asked. **Praise hands** for a gym that cuts all that nonsense out, is straightforward, and just gives people what they come to a gym looking for in the first place--a dang good workout. read more

The 8 am Elite Fitness class was exactly what I was looking for when I came to Boise for a visit recently. Coach Morgan was very efficient and kept the class moving constantly. He introduced me to the other members and was warmly greeted by everyone. I appreciated his occasional feedback and corrections of my movements especially my Russian kettle bell swings. From the warm up to the actual workout the movements moved very swiftly and the hour passed by very quickly for me. The gym is very clean and the layout and workout areas are very functional too. I popped in at 1:30 PM to tour the facility and get an idea on what they offered. I introduced myself to the guy at the front desk and asked if i could take a look around. He said, "no, we don't have anyone at the front desk here right now so place leave your name and phone number and someone will get back to you to schedule a tour and go over options and pricing." So, the guy at the front desk told me that there was nobody there at the front desk. Whatever. I then asked if i could simply take a look at the workout area (I could actually see some of it from where I was standing at the front desk 15' from the door that leads to the workout floor) while i was already there. Again, he said he couldn't let me and that someone would call me back to schedule a time when i could see it and go over pricing options. It seems like they like to hard sell you on your first visit like a car dealership. I thanked him and left. I won't be going back. I took an hour out of my day to drive over there to get an in-person view and was completely shut down by the guy at the front desk (even though according to him there was nobody there at the front desk) simply because their salesperson wasn't there to try and close the deal on the first visit. If i would have been able to see the facility, and liked what i saw, i would have had no problem coming back to discuss enrollment. But, their complete lack of regard for the time and effort that i put in to visit them just turned me off. I did give it an extra star because the facility was very clean looking from what i saw. read more

The gym itself was functional and aesthetically pleasing due to it being extremely clean, organized, plenty of exercise space, and lots of state of the art equipment. I did notice trainers, when working with clients and groups, were very knowledgeable, supportive, and attentive. Incredible Facilities. Far and away the nicest gym I have been to in the Boise area. Staff here was incredibly helpful when I came in and helped me find everything. This gym is not only perfect for people with serious lifting experience who are looking for top-of-the line equipment, but there were also several individuals of all abilities and experience doing private and group training while I was here. The trainers were incredibly supportive to the newer and less experienced members, but also made sure to provide the more advanced individuals with challenges relative to their respective ability levels.
