AMAZING!! The food, the staff, everything was great! I wish I could remember the name of our server but she was the sweetest! Our kids are super picky & even they loved the food! Our 11 & 7 year olds were all about the schwings (probably spelled wrong) & the Mac & Cheese. It was great to see that the place was full of people & people kept showing up. Also if you've never had their jerky, run to your nearest farmers market or pick some up from the restaurant, you won't be disappointed!

We came for opening night two weeks ago and it was lovely. There were the inevitable learning curves and stress tests but it was great! My PGH salad came out without fries but they remedied it with a side of fries when I asked about it. The Mac and cheese was great and so creamy!! I also really loved the cornbread - that may be the sleeper menu item must get. It was incredible. If you haven't yet read the SF Gate article about the founder and this place, do it! It's such a cool place, fun vibes and incredibly reasonably priced and delicious food! We'll be back!

Hello everyone, on 5/15/2026, my wife and I, had an amazing experience at "Fungi Foods". I had a mash and gravy KFV and my wife had the mash and chili KFV. The food was amazing, the service was also excellent. If you haven't tried Fungi Foods it's a must try spot. Oh yeah, don't forget to order two cornbread's with your meal it's delicious. All in all, I give Fungi Foods 10 stars the place has a good amount of space also to dine in.

i looove this place!! i bring my friends here and the majority of my friends are meat eaters! they love this place too. ^__^ im so happy there's a physical restaurant now! i used to travel for the farmers markets (my pics are from the markets but ill update w new pics at restaurant next time). at the restaurant, i got their gochujang chicken sandwich and cajun mac and they were both delicious. the service is amazing and the team is so welcoming. they brought out so much cornbread for my table with vegan cinnamon butter and omfg it was soooo goood!!! i think they twice bake it. ive also tried all flavors of their jerky (my fav is the sesame ginger one). i would highly hiiiighllyyy recommend fungi foods to any foodies even if you aren't vegan, any animal lovers, ppl looking for a delicious comforting warm meal, and anyone who wants to try amazing vegan food!

I've always seen Fungi Foods at the farmer's market but have never tried it until they opened up a stationary location in Oakland. They are located in what looks like a garage-like space (on a street where neighboring businesses have the same format). It can be easily missed as they have a small sign (probably because they just opened this spot recently). However, very cute indoor decor with tiny mushroom vases and mini card games on each table. Their hours are also pretty limited on the weekends, so we came here for dinner on a Sunday. That being said, it wasn't super busy. Food came out within a reasonable time and service was great. Servers checked on us a few times through our time spent here. I ordered the BBQ Cajun mac and cheese which was a rec from our server. I loved how silky the cheese was and the noodles were cooked perfectly. It looks like they drizzled a mildly spicy mayo on top with sauteed mushrooms. Although I loved the mushrooms, I did feel that they could have used better ones such as oyster mushrooms rather than the regular button/bella mushrooms. But overall, the dish was delicious and I do not regret ordering it. I also got to try the gochujang sandwich - fried maitake with brioche buns, cabbage/slaw, pickles and gochujang sauce. The filling tasted deliciois but I think the buns could have been less flat and more fluffy. Fries that came with it were very crispy to my liking though. Overall, solid spot and would recommend bay area vegans to at least try it out!

Soft Opening, today, 3/26/2026 - Free Cornbread all weekend!

My parents have come here plenty of times and I got to try it for the first time- so of course I had to get a taco plate to try various "proteins" and their rice & beans. Asada is hands down my favorite (and my dad's). They said they make it in house too! Bonus points for places that make their alternative meats. I also got their shrimp and tinga tacos. I didn't realize the shrimp was going to be battered and fried- so that was a bummer for me since I don't like fried food (I'll blame that on not eating meat so not knowing how an actual shrimp taco would be prepared). BUT the shrimp was tasty! Tinga (king oyster mushroom) was shredded so finely, so you couldn't really see the mushroom, but the flavor was there! 3/3 yummy tacos! Rice and beans were super super plain but prepared well. Rico Rico gives plastic bags to tear and squeeze of an avocado green sauce and a red salsa- both delicious. Outdoor seating is nice!

A hefty burrito bowl and a few pink tortillas to dig into it with, that is plant based Mexcellence. There are exactly zero seats in this establishment, which I'm fine with because most of the time I'm getting RRV off of DoorDash, and the rest of the time I'm taking it to my nearby home anyway. Don't expect to lounge around and soak up the atmosphere in here is what I'm telling you. That's fine. The lake is right there. I'm a somewhat new pescatarian who also seems to be getting more and more lactose intolerant as I age, so I'll happily eat vegan to avoid the perils of cheese and cream. I grew up in a Mexican-American household, and since a typical Mexican restaurant is so meat and dairy centric, I was worried I'd be forever relegated to shrimp and fish burritos sans dairy and porkless nopales forever if I needed a fix. I've come to enjoy RRVs plant based dairy and meat alternatives quite a bit. The cauliflower surprised me. It isn't wearing a cheeky wink wink nudge nudge meat costume, it's just straight up crispy (breaded?) cauliflower. Great in tacos. Now for the Rico Rico MVP, the green sauce. Some variant of the newly trendy (thanks for that Cheeseboard, sincerely, more green sauce is a great thing) but steadfast staple of taquerias and Mexican food grocery aisles forever, I've used leftover packets on anything from ramen to pizza. I'm guessing it's avocado/tomatillo/cilantro/lime based? Whatever it is, I want to buy it by the half gallon. Don't get me wrong, the red sauce is nice, but the green sauce elevates anything it touches. Like most takeout Mexican, service is fast and efficient, but like I mentioned, Rico Rico Vegano is a "both my wife and I worked a full day and are exhausted" staple meal so the service tends to be moot. I bet they're friendly to DoorDash drivers too. If any of this sounds good to you but you wish they served meat and dairy...you're in for a pleasant discovery. Rico Rico Taco is around the corner, they even have seating. Same high quality food, for the carnivorous palate.

Pacifica Roll (10/5 stars) - the best thing we ate, perfect creation of flavors that don't overwhelm each other, it's perfectly savory Poke Salad (5/5) - does it tastes like fish? I like that they have a patio area, but it's been full each time I've been, so I haven't had a chance to sit outside. The staff is kind, though they tend to be a bit slow when taking orders at the front. I guess it's nice that they don't rush things, but it can be a bit frustrating when the line is long and they're chatting with each person ordering, which feels like forever. However, once you sit down, the food is delivered quickly. During my first visit, I ordered the Lobster Roll with fries, a donut to-go, and we shared an order of Fried Mozzarella Sticks. The donut was very mild; I've had way better vegan donuts, so I wouldn't get one again. I thought the lobster roll was good, but not great. It did not remind me of a lobster roll at all and was too acidic in my opinion, so I wouldn't get that again either. I loved the mozzarella sticks, though. As a vegan, that typically dislikes vegan cheese, they were a hit. My non-vegan best friend loved them too! During my second visit, I ordered a Jalapeño Business sandwich with potato salad, rocky road to-go, and mozzarella sticks to share since I loved them so much the first time. My friend got a Buffalo Ranch Fried Chicken sandwich, and we decided to swap halves to try more things. I love spicy food, so if I had to choose a favorite, I'd pick my sandwich over hers, but both sandwiches were fantastic! The potato salad was good, but kind of bland for my taste. The rocky road was so yummy, and like last time, the mozzarella sticks did not disappoint. I love supporting fully vegan restaurants and will definitely go back to try more items on the menu. Maybe brunch next time I'm in the area? Not sure, but I highly recommend dropping by. Whether you're vegan or not, they have something tasty for everyone. In fact, each time I've gone, it's been with non-vegan friends, and they all say they'd eat here again.

The new concept is prix fixe dinners on the heated, covered patio, and à la carte inside for walk-ins. I ordered from the à la carte menu and it was awesome. So easy. So delicious. My table ordered the cascatelli pasta, smoky glazed tempeh, coriander & arborio crusted oyster mushroom, and for dessert the summer sundae and chocolate tart. We were sharing so I got a taste of everything. Just amazing. It tastes just as good as before but feels much more approachable and affordable with the new concept. And you can still get the fine dining experience if you want it. I can't wait to go back on a Tuesday to try the pizza. I've heard it described as the best vegan pizza in the Bay Area by people who know what good pizza is, and I can't wait to try it. All food is vegan, and almost everything is gluten free.

Back then, it was located on the main floor of a hotel on Geary St. in the heart of Union Square, back when downtown SF was a bustling and busy epicenter of the most beautiful cities in the world. From there, I went back for all my special occasions: anniversaries, birthdays, celebrations. One day, the lease was up, and you found your new permanent home in Oakland. The vibes and atmosphere changed, but the food remained just as iconic. Unfortunately, it was now at least 1 hour commute for me by public transportation, so I stopped going consistently. Now, you are closing your doors after 30 years of serving your vegan community. Some say that it is another casualty of the decline of veganism. Some say that it was inevitable. But I say, give me a list of restaurants in the Bay Area that have survived 30+ years, even with a cross-bay relocation. And ESPECIALLY for a vegan restaurant. I call that a success. I went for the last time this week and ordered the 5-course chef's tasting menu PLUS 2 additional appetizers. As expected, everything was absolutely delicious. Those crusted fried mushroom appetizers are so divine. The BBQ Tempeh melted in your mouth. I will miss it all so. There have been too many times in recent years when my favorite vegan restaurant announces its closure, and I've been heartbroken one too many times. Wishing the staff of Millennium all the best and that this isn't the final chapter. I look forward to what Chef Eric Tucker and his team will do next, and we will be there to support you all when that happens.

The good: fresh, quality ingredients The bad: started with the host/wait list. I accidentally added my name twice for a solo diner. Host thought it was a mistake and completely removed me from the wait list and seated other parties that came in after me. Thoroughly confused - she didn't even call my name to confirm so I had to go up to her and ask. No apology either. Was seated at the counter where solo diners usually sit. Service was non existent. Server came up to me and ask "what would you like to order?" I've never been there before. No "hi my name is ... I'll be your server" nada. They're just a machine - people in people out. The ramen - broth was fine. The squiggly noodles aren't my favorite. Expected to have kernel corn but had corn ribs instead (good thing I'm good with chopsticks!) The charshu was just okay. Enoki topping was just ... aight. The nice touch was that they didn't put it in the ramen and served it on the side to preserve its crunchiness because it definitely needed the texture! It was loud, busy, and nothing spectacular about the dining scene here. $55 dollars later (ramen, 2 additional toppings, one box of sake) ... I sadly don't think it was worth it.
