Heaven for old school videogame lovers exists! My boyfriend and I are big videogame and arcade fans, and we decided to road trip for an extended trip to New Hampshire all the way from New Jersey, and probably the biggest highlight for us was this amazing arcade. The 3rd floor (American Classic Arcade Museum) is worth any long drive to visit. All games are only a quarter to play, so if you cash in downstairs near the bowling alley on the deal with Funspot's online coupon OR if you check in on your Yelp app, you can score 150 tokens on $20.00... which is about about 13 cents a game. DEAL. Games are so cheap and there are so many to choose from! I really loved the price point so much because I was able to try any game without the guilt factor. We pretty much spent a good 2-3 hours easy playing games non stop. Some favorites of mine were the original Sega Hang On games (super tough!) and the two old pinball machines, but literally there is something for everyone. Contra, all of the Donkey Kongs, all of the Pac Mans, multiple Space Invaders.... it is downright overwhelming walking through the place. Whoa, old school arcade games, a plenty! Make sure to devote many hours here as there are tons of games to be had! And unlike some other arcade areas, games are pretty cheap here to play! You can easily spend an afternoon here for about 20 dollars. There are multiple areas in this arcade: some for old school consoles to the newest ones that completely immerse you in the experience. All are worth it and all are fun. I believe the arcades are actually kept in great condition too since there were no actual arcade games I saw that were out of commission (a bummer at their arcade places I've been to) Spend an afternoon here and leave here with a little Bag of candy and any toys as souvenirs. One of favorite places in the world! To me, this was more than an arcade, its a museum of post-americana in the quiet and beautiful Lake Winnipesaukee. Just being in there is nothing else like it. Just seeing all those vintage pinball machines and some of the rarest of the rare arcade machines like Death Race. It is the best $20 I've personally ever spend. This place was very impressive and I thought it was pretty cool and had what I like to see in an arcade. This visit, however, was solely for my 15 year old (a belated birthday gift), and he was a little underwhelmed. While he thought three floors of games was an "awesome" idea, the games that he came to play were all broken -- T2 Judgment day, Star Castle, Computer Space, After Burner 2 (cockpit version). Funspot is what it means to be a kid again. Three very different floors of games aimed at three very different audiences. My review will mainly focus my husbands love for the top and bottom floors. The bottom floor has multiple lanes of skee ball (approximately 17), various ticket earning games, a few games from the 90's (mortal kombat 1 - 3, and cruisin' usa) as well as air hockey and a few other random bits. The top floor, however, is what makes this place shine. Dimly lit, purple lighting, 80's music playing at a reasonable level, and so many classic games from the dawn of video games. I can't imagine the logistic issues that come with trying to operate a place like this. Clearly it wasn't 100% (Dragons Lair was down and there were a few sticky controls) but the vibe was so nice it's hard to find a fault. After watching "King of Kong" and working in the video game industry, I felt obliged to make the pilgrimage to Funspot to see the Video Game Museum and take a shot at Donkey Kong. While coming from Boston the drive was a pain in the butt, spending a few hours at Funspot was quite enjoyable... Especially since I do enjoy classic arcade games. This place is a standard mini-golf place, the only difference is that they have a second floor with nothing but rows of classic arcade games... They even have an original PONG arcade machine that still functions! Unless you're an arcade diehard, I probably wouldn't go out of my way to go here... But if you watch "King of Kong" and live within a reasonable distance, it's worth a look! read more

Indoor mini golf for $5 bucks was reasonable, after a tense 18 hole battle, I aced the extra free game hole and received nothing, no employee was within 200 feet. The alarm on the hole didn't even go off, just a rob job. Cheated twice I headed downstairs to play some old school arcade game, of which there were a million. Alas many games had bum controllers or the token slot was jammed up with tokens, thus not allowing you to play. I can't live in a world where Contra is just sitting there and you can't play it! We came all the way from San Diego to NH for this. My husband and kid were utterly thrilled. They have a huge classic game area with every original arcade game you can think of. Evidently they have a very famous Donkey Kong as well as the original Pong, every Pac-Man version you can think of, all the original Atari and Williams games... pretty amazing. I've been coming here since I was in my teens when arcades were in all of their glory. The place has gone through several expansions over the years. The last few times here I've noticed how much it's gone down hill. Lots of games were out of order or just turned off. They used to have a lot more pinball games but many of them are gone and the ones that are left are poorly maintained. Several of those were turned off also, and one of them was my favorite, Mata Hari, as it was the time before when I came, maybe they just leave it off now. I brought my kids here many times and now I bring my grandkids here. There is still a lot to do and it's still great fun for kids. The place really needs a face lift, and I'm hoping they fix and update some of the games here. You still get a good bang for your buck here and ticket exchange for prizes is still pretty cool. read more

Funspot is among one of the few remaining classic arcades in the United States and is above and beyond the best in its class. If you want to experience the true 1980's arcade in all its glory head up to the 3rd floor and experience the American Classic Arcade Museum. It may get to be pretty crowded I'm summer when school is out but Funspot is awesome to visit any time of the year. They keep the place clean and almost all the machines are miraculously in great condition despite very heavy use year round. If you are a gamer this is a must visit for anyone traveling the United States and should be considered a historic treasure for gaming enthusiasts. read more

I think this is a fun place for all ages. There are games for people young to old and definitely enough games to not be crowded. Certain machines near the bowling alleys give out extra coins so I would definitely use those ones to get the extra tokens. Workers circulate throughout in case the machines run of of tickets so they have a speedy turn around. $20 worth of coins can give two people about two hours of fun at this arcade on a Saturday night. read more

This place is a living time machine. I grew up in Boston in the 90s and in the summer and winter Funspot was always a place where I asked my parents to take me on our NH vacations. Coming back here with my girlfriend all these years later gave me this amazingly satisfying nostalgia high. $30 got us a few hours of games and some crappy pizza. But I loved the crappy pizza because it tasted like pizza I had in childhood. This place is a cultural monument and I really hope it never closes so I can bring my kids here some day. The decor has not changed at all and that is a Good thing ! This isn't some hipster barcade or Dave & Busters. This is the real deal. If you think you will like it you will! This is pretty much the definitive place for your classic arcade needs. We spent exactly $20 bucks and it lasted us almost 3 hours. There were a handful of games that didn't work, but you also have to understand that this place is also a museum and there's a certain amount of upkeep that has to take place. Also note that they do have repair slips you can submit. Our favorites today were the Walking Dead game (4 tokens), Daytona USA (3 tokens), Ms. PAC-Man (1 token), and air hockey (2 tokens). They also have $5 self serve indoor mini golf which was modest, but looked fun and a whole bowling alley. I think when we go back, I'm going to play a round of each. We didn't try any of the food because we brought snacks. At 2 hours away from home, I probably won't frequent this place, but I can say without a doubt, I'll be back. WHAT A FUN DAY! read more

Hey, when you are one of few locations in the world with this many classic video games, people come from all over to spend time. I flew 3000 miles to play at Funspot for a couple of days. The game selection is cool, but there is one substantial concern...they need a more aggressive maintenance program with their inventory. The games are played a lot, and the controls reflect that. I highly encourage Funspot to spend time instituting a continuous mechanical review program of every game's controls on a rotating cycle of perhaps a week cycle. "Crisping up" contacts behind joysticks and buttons is fairly easy work, but makes all the difference in quality gameplay. Spend the time, do it right. read more

If you grew up thinking Aladdin's Castle was the place to be, then this is for you! Rows upon rows of old school arcade games to take you back to your youth. They even charge you only 1 TOKEN for most games just like back in the day. Most places you happen upon a stand up arcade game or hipster "barcades" (gag) charge you $.50 or two tokens per game so it was nice to see them not taking advantage of their customers. The hubby was in HEAVEN and I'm trying to make a move to New England happen and he keeps calculating how long of a drive each spot is to this place. The place is massive (hence "world's largest arcade") and has three floors inside the main building (not including the bingo hall, Jordan's Ice Cream building out front, and the Monkey Trunks rope course all outside and around it). Inside you will find: an indoor mini-golf, a bowling alley, a tavern, an entire kids area, a mini sized arcade museum, a place to grab quick item foods or drinks, a huge prize counter, skee ball, air-hockey tables, and an entire floor of (non-ticket winning) vintage arcade games and pinball games. Video Game Lovers Fantasy I grew up during the time when video game arcades were super popular. The beach had a dozen arcades, every mall had one and most pizza parlors had a game or two in the corner. I was, and still am, a fan of video games. A visit to Funspot, which is also the American Classic Arcade Museum, was in order for me. Funspot as a whole is a family entertainment center. The American Classic Arcade Museum is just a part of the whole facility and the main reason I decided to visit Funspot. Billed as the largest arcade in the world, having well over 200 video games from the heydays of arcade gaming. I spent a few hours wandering around the arcade playing lots of my favorite games from the past. Games like Space Invaders, Gyruss, Xenophobe, Donkey Kong, Mario Bros(the original arcade game) and many others. There was a section with all the Pac Man Games and a whole wall full of Pinball machines. The majority of the arcade games are located on one floor of the building but there are others spread out on the other floors. The arcade games are the largest part of Funspot but there is plenty of other family fun to be had. There is a 20 lane bowling alley with 10 candlepin lanes and 10 ten pin lanes. The D.A. Long Tavern is there for the purchase of adult beverages. There are also some dart boards, a billiard table and some token operated poker machines. There is an eighteen hole indoor miniature golf course. A large gathering area for parties. A small indoor bumper car track for the smaller children of your group is available as well a couple of coin operated rides. A collection of games of skill and chance with the opportunity to win tickets to collect for prizes. Rounding off Funspot is the Braggin' Dragon snack bar. Featuring your basic snack fare including pizza and chicken tenders. Soda and water are also available at the Braggin' Dragon. So, we packed up a few cars with mostly late 20-/early 30-somethings and ventured north on 93 towards the second star on the right and straight on til morning. Coming from Boston "til morning" is about an hour forty-five minutes. With traffic. Fact: As of the date this review is posted, Yelp's check-in offer is 50 bonus tokens with the purchase of 100 ($20). Not fact: Printing the coupon at home costs approximately $0.26, or two tokens. The inconvenience of arborcide or six extra balls at Addams Family pinball? Choose wisely. Funspot is the place to feel goopy-eyed nostalgia over games of yesteryear. Krull, Joust 2, Tapper and Toobin' (with scores of their siblings) rise like the phoenix and play from ancient CRTs housed in mostly original cases. Picture your favorite grocery store. Now picture tiny, androgynous, pixelated creatures replacing every box, can and package in every aisle. And that's only the top floor. Fact: Funspot offers hundreds of classic video games you can't find in any other arcade. Not fact: You can, however, find them on your phone. But don't feel as though you need to be able to recall the mind-numbing frustration of The Simpsons' and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles' 4-player co-op impossibility in order to enjoy yourself. Kids raised in the kinetic world of ticket machines will find loads of joy on the first and second floors, where flashing lights, twenty Skeeball lanes and the promise of Chinese finger traps lure those craving fame and fortune. What Funspot will offer anyone with $20 is four hours of jaw-dropping "Remember when" mumbling, body-aching hunch backing and a much needed hiatus from the small talk you and your friends never really mastered anyway.
