The movie was good and that was where the positives ended. The seats were broken, I had to sit at the edge of my seat, leaning forward. Three of the four items we ordered from the menu were not available. I ordered the extra large tater tots. For $11.95 you get six. They are about 150% the size of a regular tater tot. We got no silverware. Apparently you can't get a pitcher of soda anymore unless you're hosting a party. Really not the experience we were hoping for. We have been here many times in the past and this has to be by far our worst visit. I don't think we'll be back. read more

They offer a decent American pub fare, booze, and first run movies in each of their six theaters. Booze and action movies go hand n hand. This Smitty's Cinema (formerly Chunky's Cinema Pub) is located in a strip plaza next to the Dollar Tree. My buddy and I caught a matinee on a recent afternoon, when admission is $5.50 each. Smitty's is very similar to Chunky's. You pay your admission as you enter, grab a menu and head over to one of six theaters past some arcade games. We arrived a half hour early and entered into Theater 6, and there were three rows of long tables (4 each) with comfy leather back armchairs on each side and the movie screen high up in the front wall. The server walks around with an electronic ordering pad to take orders. We ordered some Diet Pepsis ($2.79 med/$3.29 large) and a Bass Ale ($4.99) and some food. We got our drinks and food right before the movie started. My buddy ordered the King Kong ($15.99), a full rack of baby back ribs, fries, and side salad. The ribs were decent and the fries had a "Burger Kinglike" texture, but they forgot the side salad. My buddy told me he was already full anyways. I had the Philadelphia Cheese Steak Sub ($7.99+$0.79 for loaded) served with fries and pickle (missing from order). The cheese steak sub loaded with peppers, onions, mushrooms, & cheese was very tasty. The leather chairs reclined back, but not forward, were very comfortable. The movie picture was decent with stereo sound coming out from the front of the room only. Overall, decent food and drinks and a decent movie screen and sound. The service was also decent with timely delivery of food and drinks (forgot the salad) during the matinee, which was not crowded. We like this concept of dinner, booze, and a movie. Fun place to watch a movie. Staff is super friendly and very helpful. Chairs are basically high back office chairs. They aren't the most comfortable for a long movie but overall not bad. I would definitely recommend this theater for a movie and some food. Great family atmosphere. read more

We drove about 30 minutes to 45 minutes in the freezing cold to get to the movie theater. We come regularly. The theater was closing because the pipes were frozen. The customers ahead of us in the theater will be given free tickets to come back. One kid who barely hit puberty and was clueless and wouldn't stop running his mouth refused to give us the passes even after another employee said go ahead we drove all the way here. This was absolute piss poor customer service. They should not allow inexperienced imbeciles like that to speak on behalf of the company. He was very rude and aggravating. When I worked in those jobs employees like him were sent to the toilets to clean them and not given customer service jobs. That is where he should be. read more

I do love this place. GREAT SEATING. EXCELLENT SERVICE. I always ask for check to be brought out ASAP, so as to not interfere with movie. I don't like their typical pub fare, on the greasy side, BUT I do like their steak tips with salad. 80% time they are good. Every once in awhile they are cold. Frozen Margarita is good. My girlfriend and I just visited this cinema to watch the new Star-Trek Movie. The movie was quite good! Pros: Cold Beer/Wine Lounge chair type seating. Cons: The food was horrible! We ordered Nachos and Guacamole, with Chicken Fingers and Fries. The Guacamole was room temperature warm with no flavor, the Chips were pre-heated out of the bag. NO flavor at all. The Fries were cold and greasy, and even after complaining and asking for replacement fries what returned was few heated fries on top of the already ordered cold fries. There were a total of 4 small, overcooked chicken fingers/nuggets, that were also cold and very tasteless. I strongly urge anyone going to this cinema to NOT ORDER FOOD! The food is horrible! Thank god for the cold beer! There are several stains on the screen that were a small distraction. I have no desire to go back to this cinema unless or until they fix their kitchen! read more

I have waited a week before posting this to give me time to reflect back and not to let emotions run loose. My family frequent Smittys (1-2 a month for the past 5 years) and as of late things have become bad. Severely scratched films (they have gone digital in all theaters recently, I think) to the most recent debacle. It started when the movie started. They not only failed to start the audio they also left the advertisement slide show running....this through the previews (giving them a chance to correct their mistake) and then into the movie (Transformers 3 3D). I went out and got the attention of the nearest employee (ended up being the manager on duty) who them took off to correct the issue. Then, while trying to eat I got rained on. Seriously, indoors. I heard the drops first, falling to my left, and then as I looked into it a deluge of water came flowing into the theater through the roof panels. My wife then, since she needed a waitress any way, went out to let someone know. She was told "Oh no, that was fixed earlier today." Obviously not. I had to move tables, away from my family (not enough room for everyone to move without going to the back of the theater). When our food came we never got a follow up from our waitress, my wife didn't get half her meal. What do you do? Walk out on a movie you want to watch to correct their mistake? Which she did (see above) for other reasons. And to top that off...she never got the rest of her meal. When we left I went out and asked to see "whomever was in charge" and was directed to the guy I spoke with about the no audio/dual video issue. When he I explained things to him he stared blankly at me. So I asked why his problems became my problems? When he couldn't answer me I turned to leave. After I got a couple yards away he yelled out "You want a pass or something?" Hell man, you should have been standing at the door when that movie let out with a handful of passes giving them out to everyone that left . And to top it off when I tried to go to Smitty's website to complain their "contact us" portion won't let you edit anything (location, add report, nothing). Me and my boyfriend went to go see a movie and drove about 45 minutes to get there. I'm 18 and decided to wait to get my drivers license. The woman at the desk proceeded to be super rude to me since I don't have an ID. It was absolutely humiliating. She talked to me as if I was a 4 year old. Went to the movies for lunch ordered, got our meals, I had ordered the steak tips it was $1.99 extra for peppers, onions and mushrooms. I did not want or order them. They came on my plate mixed into my tips. I said I didn't want them, they took them back brought me cold plain steak tips and cool fries back. My wife ordered quesadillas and her chicken was burnt. We've visited twice, it's a long drive but we've really enjoyed it. When I first heard about this place, I wasn't expecting much from the food, but it's actually really good! Their menu has a ton of options. Just recently they added Digital 3D, so we decided to check out Toy Story 3, which was a lot of fun. My wife and I are big movie fans and distractions are taboo when we go to the theater. At first it was awkward to eat in the dark *and* pay attention to the movie. With the 3D, it was a little more awkward because of the glasses. We managed to find a happy medium after a while. The food is great, the screens and projection quality are fine, and the 3D is standard digital full-color projection, no red/blue anaglyph glasses here. My only complaint is that the seats are a bit old and a little low for the tables, and their staff aren't always great at remembering requests. We'll definitely be back though! read more

I'm glad to see that places like this still exist and actually have decent food. The food here is good and the portions are huge. The fries and waffle fries are really good and a side of barbecue sauce will cost you extra. The seats are a bit weird. They're like giant leather stadium seat chairs that are hard to move around. And, when you go to sit at the table, you feel like a 5-year-old again because your shoulders will barely clear the lip of the table. The service here is interestingly structured. If you've ever been to a wagamama's they follow the same kind of ordering system, though here, once it's plugged into the system food starts rolling out a few minutes later and they don't write your order number on the table. I went to smittys cinema tonight to see skyscraper and the movie was great! It took a little bit to get our orders placed tho. But the food was very good! I ordered the chicken wrap with lettuce and a mix of ranch and buffalo sauce and I really enjoyed it! It's nice to have a movie and eat dinner at the same place. But overall. I love the concept of Smitty's and the new renovations are wonderful, but it does have its downfalls. The food is pretty mediocre and the prices a bit too high for what you receive, and the service is more often than not pretty subpar. My biggest complaint with Smitty's is that when I went to see Star Wars: The Force Awakens, I thought I saw something scurry across the floor during the movie. I chalked it up to me just seeing things, however, when the movie ended and the lights came on, everyone in my party very clearly saw a mouse running across the floor. This is especially concerning in an establishment that serves food. If there's mice in the theaters, then one can't help but to wonder if they're in the kitchen as well. When I mentioned it to the employee at the ticket counter after the movie, her response was a nonchalant "oh" and a facial expression that made it clear she thought I was wasting her time. This made me think that either they've got employees who don't care about a potential rodent problem or that this wasn't the first time this employee heard a customer say that to them. Regardless, the employee's response was troubling. I do want to note that I have yet to see any rodents since the renovations, but I'm hesitant to deem Smitty's in the clear in my books. It would be helpful if they responded to customers voicing these issues (as I am not the only one - others have noted the mice issue on Facebook) with assurances that preventative measures have been taken to ensure there are no longer any rodents in the building. Okay, now on to the good stuff: their movie ticket prices can't be beat and they almost always have a wide variety of movies showing. The chairs are insanely comfortable and I love the new stadium seating set-up in the back of the theaters. You can almost always find seats together, even during popular showings. There are definitely some servers that are hidden gems here and are fantastic - if you luck out and get one of them, it'll make your experience easily 20x better. The screens are decently sized and the movie quality is typically quite good. Overall I still go to Smitty's fairly often as it's the closest theater to me, and there are some great things about the place, but there is also definitely room for improvement as well. read more

Rainy vacation day calls for taking the kids to the movies. We'd been to a Smitty's (when it was Chunky's) and had fond memories of the place. This did not disappoint....comfy seats and a great menu. The only issue was the time that it took to get our food, we were well into the movie when lunch came. However...imagine our surprise when the waitress came out to let us know that lunch was on the house due to a snafu in the kitchen, resulting in us paying only for our drinks. This place was so terrible!!!! Never come here ever. We got there and we didn't have seats all together because it was a lot of us. they were kinda rude and did not put one bit of effort to try to help us out. There were staff everywhere and not even one can show us where our seats were. Then the movie started, and our drinks and popcorn we ordered took SO LONG to come. It's like they forgot we were there. It was almost 45 min into the movie. They took our orders 20 minutes into the movie which doesn't make sense at all because the whole point of this place is to enjoy a movie while eating your meal. The waiter told us that our food would take about 30-45 minutes and it ended up never coming. Everyone in the theatre got their food EXCEPT FOR US. The movie was about to end and we still had not gotten our food, so we ask our waiter how much longer the food was going to take. She said that they were very busy, had tons of orders, and that our food wasn't going to be coming out. The fact that we had to ask the waiter and they were not going to tell us the food was coming out themselves is absolutely RIDICULOUS. It's a novelty to be able to eat, drink, & watch a movie at the same time. Our waiter was very friendly. I found it distracting to eat and watch a movie though. Perhaps if the tables faced the screen it would be a better experience. It was also darker than I would like to have while eating - I like to see what my food looks like. If we were to go again, I would probably either buy popcorn or order an appetizer (or dessert) and skip the dinner. The chairs were leather recliners that sat lower than the tables, so that did not help either. It was ok and we will probably go back again - just not for a dinner theater type night. read more

I'd like to commend George, who provided great customer service for us yesterday. My husband and I live a ways from the theater and often receive gift certs from family members. Somehow we'd messed them up--terribly--so we had a bunch of cards in various stages of usage. Since you can't use gift certs online to purchase tickets, and we live so far away, we were afraid we'd be closed out for the opening-night movie if we redeemed them at the theater. George took all the info over the phone--very patiently and efficiently. The young woman who gave us our tickets (and provided all the receipts George had left for us) was also very nice. This demonstration of above-and-beyond is why the drive is worth it for us. Great job, guys! read more

I come here often as I live close. In the Summer when there are matinees every day I often come in on my lunch break. I wish there were more vegetarian options, but the kitchen will work with you if you want to be a little creative. My experience with the staff on the whole is positive, and I find the vast majority of the time these are hard working people doing their best. But yes, once in a while it is possible to find a young and inexperienced person there that needs more training in customer relations. However, there is generally a welcoming atmosphere here and the service usually inspires a decent tip. The bathrooms are well looked after, and you can't beat the seats they have. Best of all; there is all the leg room that you could possibly want. I need a lot. read more

Well, it's a cinema pub. It's not like there are many around to compare it with. Small screens, occasional projection issues, barely comfortable chairs at the wrong height to the tables. Overpriced food and drink, decent portions, semi attentive staff. High ticket prices. But, they play recent movies, and it's really the only game in town for what it is. This was a nice place to bring the family on a rainy Father's Day. We arrived at 2:30 for a 3:15 showing, and we had no problem finding seats. The waitress came over promptly and brought our drinks right away. The food was just okay. It is clearly frozen food, which is what we expected. Prices were average. The biggest bummer is that the waitress did not return our debit card, even after the movie ended. Apparently, a bunch of other people were in the same boat because they didn't leave, either. A few people were complaining and yelling at the only waitress who was assigned the task of handing out 20+ cards. She apologized, and I said I felt sorry that they left her all alone to deal with the fallout. read more
