For 80's and 90's kids, Funspot is a wonderful trip back in time when you would spend the entire afternoon at the arcade. With so many of the old-school arcades gone in New England, it's really nice to see Funspot still doing well. It has one of the largest selection of arcade games in the country, everything from the early Atari games to more recent Mario Kart driving games. They have all my favorites, the original Simpsons game, Commando, Operation Wolf, the Terminator 2 shooting game, and of course NBA Jam. Funspot consists of multiple floors with token machines conveniently located on each one. They have a nice variety of different types of games so you'll never be bored. When you need a break from playing video games they have skee ball and bowling on the bottom floor. If the weather is bad during the summer it can get crowded. It's worth the drive from Massachusetts and you can easily spend an entire afternoon here. read more

As a kid, we went here several times a year. It's definitely changed and grown over the years. As adults, we had a hankering for playing some video games so we took the long drive to indulge. In the are with classic arcade games, lighting is very dim. Some machines out of order, but many things from when we were kids were available and brought us fun and nostalgia. I'm not good at the games. And they cost $.25-$1 to play. This is a HUGE bargain compared to new arcades. We played pinball and had fun there too. We didn't bowl, but there were some fun games on that level and watching little kids on the animal go carts was cute. Bottom level we played air hockey and ski ball. This was our jam. We couldn't find whack-a-mole but had fun on a variety of other games. Tickets seemed pointless, we we have ours to a young kid. Hopefully they could get something. $30 for a couple of us was more than enough to have lots of fun for almost 2 hours. If we were kids, I think it would not have lasted so long. We don't play lots of shooting games or run from one game to another. We skipped Minigolf and the birthday party area but looked good for little kid parties. Topsnuf did not make an appearance but it was a nice day anyway. read more

Must visit! This place is such a fun place to be. Only spent $20 and it last 3 hours there playing games and walking around. Three different floors. They have old and new games along with a mini golf course, bowling area, air hockey, and etc. The prizes are decent with the tickets won. The have a food court too with an ice cream shop. My wife and I came here as the centerpiece of a getaway that we took recently, and I wanted to tell my fellow Yelpers out there of my experience. This was my second visit to Funspot, with the first being about 40 years ago. Despite the passage of that amount of time, this place did not fail to live up to my expectations. Being surrounded by games, games and more games was fantastic, especially the video games of my childhood and pinball! We spent 6 hours here and we must have played 100's of games between us, and the cost of those games was the same, with only a very few of the games costing more than 2 tokens. We played all the old classic games that we grew up with, including the largest pinball machine in the world, Hercules! What a great game that is, not only to play, but just by its sheer size. They had a lot of older pinball games, and those console style games that we all played as kids. Though they have a few areas for little kids, most of what is on offer is for bigger kids, like me! This place is amazing!! It really felt like a 1980s arcade. Tons and tons of games...this place just kept going! Most of the cabinets did work. Only a few did not. My fiance and I had an absolute blast! Now for the cons... Not a single employee was wearing a mask...even those making and serving food. We wanted pizza, but after seeing that...we chose to pass. We wore a mask and gloves the entire time we were in the establishment and were met with glares and eyerolls from staff and patrons. It really gave us unease. Dingy, dirty and duct taped establishment that seems like it never left 1994.. Video game aficionados will probably enjoy the huge selection and classic games from the 80s and 90s. Lots of games out of order. It's odd that they don't have more newer games to complement the older games. Long line to cash out tickets. Prices were decent compared to other arcades I've been to recently. It seems like this place is probably run by a MAGA Republican. In addition to other posts saying the owner is a pandemic denier, I was greeted by a huge picture of Ronald Reagan when buying tokens. The entire place has an attitude of "this is the way it has always been and nothing needs to change," a mantra of Republicans. The physical tokens and physical tickets instead of cards like most modern arcades is one example, although maybe that would be hard to implement on old games. The owner is clearly cheap as there was a lack of staff, rugs worn and torn, and decor that looked like it hadn't been updated in decades. The bathrooms were clean, so that's a plus. read more

I have had so many fun times at this place over the years... my husband and I head to the Laconia area every January to go tubing or skiiing, and hit up Funspot. We've done it for 5 years running. Funspot is the kind of place that doesn't change too much, but this is a good thing. All the nostalgia anyone might have for old games can be relived here. Every now and then, they bring in some new machines that are also quite addicting. The new Pac-Man system is so much fun! (You can have 4 players at one time... all 4 players are pac-man, and you can eat each other! So much fun)! This is a place you can truly spend hours, and there's plenty of things to do for those who don't enjoy video games. Mini-golf, bowling, skee-ball - and all the cheap pizza you can possibly eat. Anyone living in the northeast has no excuse not to find a long weekend and go check this place out. read more

I was pleasantly surprised by how many games from the 80's and 90's were there. Gauntlet, Paperboy, Dig Dug, DuckHunt, Tron, etc. plus skeeball, air hockey, tons and tons of pinball plus games you can earn tickets and get stuff that's crazy expensive compared to if you bought it lol....but it's fun playing some of them. I can't remember what we spent but it less than $100 and we were there for close to two hours. Great fun and we made some great memories playing skeeball and air hockey together. The only reason that I gave it 4 stars was the fact that I felt like there was a decent amount of games and skeeball lanes not working. read more

6/30/19 -Updating my review as I stand here inside FUNSPOT. Same thing. A lot of the classic games just aren't in good shape. Got fed up with them and played more of the crappy ticket games. If you are here for the classic games, I highly recommend buying your tokens $5 at a time. Otherwise, you're going to be pissed off at trying to burn through them in the machines that work. This was not what we were expecting at all. Yes, there are TONS of class video games. Alot were broken. They had a few current games and a couple of typical arcade games. It was run down, lots of broken games. It was old and rundown. My 13 year old said "nope" and we turned around and left and went to the arcade on the Weirs Beach boardwalk. Way more fun! read more

Almost a year into the pandemic, and the majority of staff and management still are not wearing masks or have come up with any alternative solutions. *IF* some employees have a medical condition that prevents them from wearing a mask, they should not be working with the public and putting all the families in danger who go and spend money there. My family and I are local and have been coming here for years, but today we had to leave immediately (after wasting $20) because it is simply extremely unsafe. I'm not even blaming staff, but SHAME ON THE MANAGEMENT AND OWNER(S) of this establishment. It is your responsibility to provide a safe place for families. if you can't do that, close until you can guarantee a safe business. Completely unacceptable. Not only was I the bad guy for pointing this out by the way, as they asked if I would rather just have all those employees out of a job (he also tried to make the argument that masks aren't effective, which has been scientifically proven false). This is totally false and of course I care about (particularly rural) jobs. But this still does not make it okay to be walking around in a family establishment that is indoors during a pandemic without any form of protection. Assume FUNSPOT is a super spreader business and skip it until the pandemic subsides. read more

Visited Funspot last weekend... probably my 20th visit over the last 10 years or so. We haven't been in about a year. Was saddened to see many games removed, both from the redemption game areas and the classic arcade museum. All the laserdisc games (Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, etc..) are completely gone. I even noticed that some of the redemption games have been "configured" to be harder...thus earning less tickets. Perhaps an attempt to cover some of the "red financials" of 2020. The carpet is SO WORN now, it is practically concrete. One thing I have to note... just a month ago I visited "Galloping Ghost Arcade" in Brookfield, IL. Although Funspot has the official Guinness Book of records as the world's largest arcade... it is certainly not. At one point, I think Funspot had 550 games (that number is definitely smaller now). Galloping Ghost has over 850 (and NONE of them are redemption/ticket games). So, I am a little spoiled on large arcades after visiting the arcade mecca in the midwest. I have to think there are probably arcades in Japan that are even bigger. I think Funspot may be seeing an end of an era soon. The owner is 90 and I'm not sure what the future will be after he has transitioned to the "great arcade in the sky". I assume his kids (who make up most of the executive team) will take it over and I'm hoping they can find some way to "reinvent" themselves. They definitely need a big cash infusion by an investor. One highlight to this visit was visiting their new ice cream stand. It features Richardson's ice cream and your standard soft serve selections (choco, vanilla, twist). Me and the fam finally had some time to take a peek at Funspot! We enjoyed walking around the old arcade games. The best part was that most games for 1-2 coins. We did come across some that were 2-4. They also had pinball machines, ziplining, bumper cars and other attractions. We didn't have time to get a full detail, but we're planning to come back in a few weeks! My mom's favorite game growing up was 1943 and thank you for giving me a chance to play this with her...she keeps getting me killed. read more

I like going here, it's reminds you of simpler times. That said, there are some (-) things about this place: 1. The staff is unfriendly. Example: If a machine eats your tokens & you can actually find someone to help you, they act like you're lying about it & have this "how dare you ask for your tokens back" mentality. 2. Funspot exists as the one of the last of a dying breed. - the near extinct video arcade. And frankly, it promises so much more in the form of bowling (both candlepin and ten pin), bingo, mini golf, and a bar and restaurant. Based on the above, you would think this place was kind of Mecca and it seemed to me that way as kid. I loved it. And I've gone back since primarily due to that nostalgia. Funspot does a lot of things right: 3 floors of video games. Lots of pinball machines. A whole section of ticket producing games to let you spend a fortune on getting crummy toys and stale candies. Cocktails for the adults. Bowling for everyone. And the massive bucket of tokens you get for $20 is a fair enough deal. It also does some things wrong: The bowling is much more expensive than at a dedicated bowling alley (an oddity since they have so many other sources of revenue). The fact that food and drink must be confined to the bar/restaurant (another oddity in that the adults can't have a drink and be near their children, they have to split up and take their cocktails in shifts). The decor hasn't been updated...ever. (While this might have a nostalgia factor for some but to me it just ends up looking cheap and run down in a lot of places. Ultimately, there is a lot of variety at Funspot and if you like the sound of tons of video games, bowling, mini-golf and more, it is worth checking out. But temper your expectations and be prepared to pay more in unexpected places. I'll be back because, like I said at the beginning, places like this are a dying breed. But some of the shine has gone from the way I saw it in my youth. I'd love for them to polish up the places where it's looking a little sad but I'll take what I can get and drink my cocktails in shifts before schooling the young'uns on the skeeball machines (before passing my tickets onto a stranger...after I snag a couple friendship bracelets of course). read more

There are no arcades opened around me due to COVID. Me and my friend decided to take a trip to New Hampshire to play the vintage and newer games. This place was extremely awesome and has tons of games and opportunities to win tickets. I love the nostalgia of this place. Also gives you a ton of tokens for only $20. I have visited this arcade a few times and $20 usually lasts me and a friend a couple hours here. Overall this is a pretty decent arcade. It has 3 stories and has something that every age level will appreciate. I love all the classic games they have like PacMan, Donkey Kong, Super Mario Bros., and Paperboy. I do wish they offered more newer age arcade games and had more games that were multiplayer. Many of the games have broken controls, no sound, or are just out of order entirely. There were also several games that I had tried playing that ate my tokens. Funspot also has indoor mini golf, kid's rides, skeeball, and bowling available which is a great addition. They also have air hockey, but the score board appears to be broken on at least two of the three tables and the "air" doesn't work that well. The cafeteria here offers some pretty basic food that you would find at this type of establishment: pizza, hot dogs, chicken tenders, etc. The prices are rather high for the quality so I would suggest skipping out on eating here. All in all, Funspot is a unique spot that offers a ton of great arcade games. While the establishment could use a little sprucing up, I would still recommend visiting here. The vintage floor on the third level definitely takes the cake! Really wish they would fix the air conditioning on the bottom two floors though! read more

This place is a solid choice for indoor fun. It has something for everyone, between bowling, the bar, the arcade games and indoor self serve mini golf (emphasis on mini in this case, but ti's still fun). We went in the winter, so none of the outdoor activities were open, but they looked fun as well. Many of the machines are only 25 to 50 cents to play, so you can have an entire afternoon's worth of fun for under $10! read more

The focus of our trip to New Hampshire and Maine was to see Fall leaves. However, as we were travelling up I-93 from Boston, I wanted to do a short side-trip to check out The Funspot. I recall reading about it online at least 20 years ago, but was unsure that I'd ever be in that area. It is located ~ 5 miles off the interstate. There were not a lot of people there around 4:30 p.m. on a sunny Sunday afternoon in October, but it appears built to handle large crowds. There is an expansive parking lot. The main facility is in a sprawling 2-story building, with the main arcade games upstairs. There are a few sprinkled around other spots as well; you can ask any of the staff if you are looking for a particular game. Though they have bowling, mini-golf, and young-child activities (and probably other things we didn't even find/notice), my main focus here was on the video arcade games from the late 70s through the 80s. Stepping into the Funspot's arcade room is like stepping back in time. The main differences here are that it is better organized than your average 80s arcade and there are a lot more games. They have them arranged by manufacturer (Taito, Williams, etc.). We didn't have unlimited time (unfortunately), but I got to walk through and check out the selection. There were unusual games I'd never seen before, some that I hadn't seen in over 30 years, and a number of familiar games. There were a few cases where I didn't see one that I was expecting (ex. = Joust), but I assume they have to rotate the stock somewhat as games need repair, etc. The only improvement I'd like to have seen was better maintenance on some of the games. Specifically, several lacked sound, which in some cases (ex. = Pengo) made a huge difference in game play. I have owned a couple of 80s arcade games and I understand that maintaining them can be difficult. If you have people playing the games constantly, I can understand that maintenance is even more challenging. However, if this is your business and you are paying some of your team to maintain the games, please don't skimp on the audio. I could easily spend a couple of hours (and many dollars) here. I can see why they have been in business for 60+ years. If I am ever in this area again, I will absolutely try to return here. read more

My family has been going here for years! My grandparents love it, my parents love it, and it's still a favorite place to visit to me. Always an exciting time no matter how many times you go there. Fun for the whole family and date night. The paper tickets give it that quality feel and the retro tokens are nostalgic. Woof....i love this place, been coming for years. Brought my wife and toddler hoping to round out a quick trip up north. The amount of staff and patrons without masks was shocking. Employees wore laminated signs saying they had medical conditions that prevented them from wearing masks. According to the CDC these are the conditions that prevent someone from wearing a mask : -Children younger than 2 years old -Anyone who has trouble breathing or COPD -Anyone who is unconscious, incapacitated, or otherwise unable to remove the cloth face covering without assistance. The employees showed no signs of trouble breathing while they explained to me their reasons for not wearing a mask (i asked the manager to wear a mask while we spoke..he refused). No one was at the doors requesting medical conditions of patrons coming in without masks. The only sanitation I witnessed was some poor kid wiping down a bench. I wanted to support a local business during trying times. But to disrespect the public like this is shameful. read more

Ok this is definitely the best arcade in the area. You get an amazing bang for your buck and there is a great prize selection. Some of the amazing features of this place are, Vintage games that are in great condition,New games that are also in great condition, An indoor mini golf that is only 5 bucks a play,Amazing staff, and an ice cream stand that they own. And something funny is that my music teacher's father use to know the owner when he worked in an electric company or something like that. This is a great place for adults and kids alike. Three levels of games means fun for all ages! The top floor has all the old school arcade games and pinball machines, including the world's largest pinball machine. There is also bowling on the second level (standard and pinball) and a wall devoted to skeeball on the bottom level. Playing the games on the bottom two levels gives you tickets that you can turn in for prizes. We love everything about it. I love the pinball games and hubby plays for tickets to win new Funspot coffee mugs. If a machine isn't working, the employees won't know unless you tell them. They will reimburse lost tokens. I like that because it is the Biggest Arcade in the World and they take good care of arcade machines people donate machines and every time we go there are new additions. The indoor mini golf is appropriate for children around 4 years old and up. There is a historical New Hampshire theme. Give Funspot a try! read more

My family and I have been going to FunSpot for about 15 years. While we live in California, my in-laws are there in New Hampshire, and we never make a trip out to visit them without also going to fun spot at least once, usually twice. There is something for everyone there. Bowling, AirHockey, classic video games, and my personal favorite is the skee ball. We were beyond thrilled to see FunSpot in the movie King of Kong, and we also watched the documentary as well. This past visit, we got our picture taken with the owner and founder, Bob Lawton, who is my son's personal hero! He even said he was going to buy a safe to keep this picture in! read more
