This place lies to you! We purchased a dog in 22 from them. August she started having eye issues. In Dec. she had to have an eye removed, which we sent for testing, and is completely blind in the other eye. Turns out she has primary glaucoma. Primary glaucoma is hereditary and is passed down the generations. After finding this out, upon researching the AKC site and OFA.org they never had her parents eyes tested! Please DO NOT buy a puppy from this breeder! We bought an English Cream Golden Retriever puppy from Sandie Taylor at Furhaven K9s in January 2018. Knowing that Goldens are known for hip problems, I asked for verification that the puppy's parents had been certified with OFA (Orthopedic Foundation for Animals) for good hips. She said yes and when we got our puppy, she told me the numbers on our contract represented the certifications. Shortly thereafter, our puppy showed signs of hip problems. At 1 1/2 years old, she was diagnosed with SEVERE hip dysplasia and had to have a total hip replacement, a surgery which costs over $12,000. At that point, I searched the numbers on our contract in the OFA database, and found out that she listed FALSE NUMBERS on our contract. One number did not even show up as a valid number and the other referenced a completely different dog at Furhaven. Our puppy's parents were never certified for good hips, as she claimed they had been. We sued Furhaven in small claims court (to recoup our costs), and through the process, we found she has been to small claims court many times, and we met 2 other puppy owners that had sued her, with stories even more horrific than ours. Unfortunately, Sandie Taylor lied in court and showed the judge bogus OFA certification records that she said belonged to our puppy's parents. One of the dog's records she showed the judge was for a MALE dog and she said it was the record for our puppy's mom. The judge did not look closely at the documentation she held up, and she got away with deceiving yet another client. So, if you are considering getting a puppy from Furhaven K9s, be aware - they are cutting corners to save money and are not getting the certifications that they claim. And they will be blatantly dishonest about it. If you want a healthy puppy, find another breeder!! read more

My boyfriend and I were recommended to Sandie/FurHaven from a friend of ours who bought a Cavalier from them in 2016. Unfortunately, our experience was very unpleasant and frustrating. I do not recommend working with her unless you don't mind a transactional relationship similar to what you'd have with a pet store. To keep it relatively brief, we put down a $700 deposit for a Ruby female Cavalier puppy in early 2018. There were no puppies at that time nor pregnant females, but Sandie assured us it would happen soon. Yet after several months, there were still no puppies (unlike today, when it appears she is churning out animals at rapid rates). It was important to us to stay in the loop, but her communication was very poor and it was hard to get her on the phone or email to get status updates. We suspected that she was screening our calls as evidenced by the fact that we could only get her on the phone when calling from a blocked number. So, we ultimately decided to ask for our deposit back, extremely disappointed with the lack of communication and knowing there would be no puppy anytime soon. We called several times and asked for the deposit back, and she kept blowing us off and saying she'd talk to her husband but never following up. I assumed she didn't have the money anymore and had already spent it, which is why she was dodging us. Eventually, I told her that if she was refusing to give us our money or take any accountability for the lack of communication thus far, we would have to sue her in small claims. She started yelling and hung up after saying we were threatening her. After that, she refused to answer any phone calls or emails. We did ultimately take her to small claims, but somehow she convinced the judge to move the suit to Southern CA where she lives. How she managed to do that in a letter rife with spelling and grammatical errors, I'm unsure, but she did. We did decide to give up the suit after that and were given a refund from Chase for her fraudulent practices. We love my friend's dog from FurHaven and cannot speak to the quality of the dogs, but the experience we had with Sandie was nothing short of horrendous. To spend that much money and receive so little respect is extremely upsetting. Thankfully we ended up getting a beautiful ruby cav from a small breeder in northern CA who breeds only 1-2 litters per year and sent us videos and pictures regularly as our little girl grew up. She also allowed us to visit her and the whole family prior to picking her up. We are happy now but not after a good deal of time and frustration spent dealing with Sandie -- she also still has our money to this day despite providing no goods or services. read more

We recently purchased a Cavalier King Charles Spaniel from FurHaven K9's. The experience from start to finish was fantastic. Sandie was very forthcoming, open and thorough throughout the entire process. You can really tell she loves her dogs and wants them to go to good, loving homes. WORST EXPERIENCE OF MY LIFE!!! About two weeks ago, we started discussing our wish to adopt a dog from them. We really wanted Furlyn, a five-year-old Cavalier. Christin from Fur Haven K9s sent us an application, which we filled out including the deposit they were asking for. Later on, we received email from Sandie, which she requested us to fill a different form. Both the owners promised us that Furlyn will be reserved for us, and we followed by giving them credit card information in return. We later got an official email confirming that Furlyn was reserved to us. TODAY, after we were invited to come by and meet Furlyn the dog, we drove 3 hours one way to their house. When we finally arrived, we were told she is no longer available. When asked why this dog was sold even though she was reserved, and why they made us drive all this way knowing that fact- they simply responded they they have thought we might want to purchase another one. We had to drive back all that way, mad and upset. We felt like we were played with. THEY HAVE NO REGARD FOR THE ANIMALS THEY OWN, NOR DO THEY CARE ABOUT THEIR CUSTOMERS!! THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT MONEY!! BUYERS BEWARE! On 2/13/16 after meeting with Sandy from Furhaven K9's, my husband and I paid a $700 deposit for a Cavalier King Charles puppy after we were presented with a Breeder's Vet Check Report showing that the puppy was in excellent health. We brought the puppy home on 2/26/16 - two weeks later. On the morning of 2/27/16 I noticed that the puppy had an umbilical hernia, when I texted Sandie about it, her response was that of "surprise" and insisted neither she or her vet noticed the hernia before. She did mention that it was just cosmetic and that it could be fixed at the time the puppy was spayed. The following day, per our purchase Contract w/ Sandie, I took the puppy to our Veterinarian for a wellness check. Immediately after our Veterinarian looked into the puppy's mouth, she noticed a pretty severe Malocclusion. I was quite surprised to hear about this issue because I had not one, but TWO Breeder's Vet Check Reports from Sandie stating the there was NO MALOCCLUSION and that her bite was Normal. When I presented such reports to our Vet, her response was "Are you sure these reports are for this dog? This is pretty severe and any good veterinarian would have noticed it." Malocclusions are genetic dental abnormalities and the puppy is now requiring surgery to correct the problem. Upon discussing the diagnosis with Sandie and expressing our wish to have her share the cost of the upcoming surgeries (for not disclosing the puppy's true medical history) not only did she deny that the puppy had any issues - she requested that her same Veterinarian, the one who missed both, the Hernia and the malocclusion re-examine the puppy again. I told her I had serious reservations about having that same Vet re-examine the puppy because I didn't trust his/hers professional opinion - and I also didn't want to put the puppy through a 1.5 hour trip back to Menifee just to be seen by someone who had shown Professional incompetence. So, I proceeded to provide Sandy with the opinion of not only my Vet, but a Specialist - the Chief Resident at Veterinary Dental Specialists & Oral Surgery. Sandy not only denied financial support - she went on to say that the surgery was for "Cosmetic Reasons" - this woman is insane! I didn't buy a puppy from her to mutilate it into perfection - the dog clearly needs the surgery to fix a degenerative defect!!! The best offer Sandie gave me was to refund my money? But really, what would that do? Any reputable Breeder would offer financial assistance and COMPASSION. This woman offered neither. Furthermore, while going back and forth - she had the audacity to say that I bought the dog at a discounted price - $2100 for a puppy is hardly a discounted price. I paid the full asking price - including taxes on a dog who is going to need surgeries that will cost in excess of $3,000.00. I hope that anyone reading this post who is considering purchasing a dog from Furhaven K9's see beyond the clean kennels and the beautiful dogs. The dogs without a doubt are gorgeous but they may or may not be healthy. Don't be fooled by the FAKE BREEDER'S VET CHECK REPORTS - Sandie gave me TWO reports which stated that the dog was healthy, only to find less than 48 hours later that the puppy had major issues. Not only will I leave this bad but HONEST review here, I am going to file a complaint with the AKC - I am going to follow up with all the local Cavalier King Charles Spaniel groups and share my story so that this woman's true colors are shown. Sandie doesn't really care about the dogs - she just cares about cashing in. SHAME ON YOU lady - you had me fooled but you fooled the wrong person. The puppy was born on 12/29/15 - she is the product of Sire: Caldwell's Buster Rown aka Buster and Dam: Furhaven's Majestic Royal Lizzie aka Lizzie. If you bought a puppy from this Breeder and from this Litter - have them checked thoroughly. read more

She does not pay people who provide services for her and she will work you and make you stay for hours on end. When you submit an Invoice to her she will state she is not satisfied with your work and not pay. She is not a nice person and she treats her animals horrible. Do NOT buy a Cavalier King Charles from Furhaven!!!! Sandi my run a clean kennel & her dogs look happy. HOWEVER I purchased a Cavalier from her that by the time she was 4 months old I found out that she had a birth defect, one of many. Her hip was going to need replacement. When I took her to the specialist she need immediate surgery on both knee caps becuse they would fall to the side. Which caused her not to be able to walk. When the doctor examine the x-rays we found that not only were her knees needing surgery but BOTH of her hips will need replacement. This was not the only puppy out of the litter who had birth defects. The original puppy I picked from the litter had a Heart Mummer. When asked for financial assistance she did not believe that it was her dog. She has never called to check on her dog or talk to me about anything. She yelled at me & was very argumentative. I now that my girl will not have a long life & will have to deal with pain as she grows older. read more

I bought a puppy from Sandie recently and so far this is the best dog I've ever owned. The dog is perfect, I took her to the vet for a wellness visit 2 days after I got her and to continue her regular routine shots. She had a complete bill of health, her fecal test was negative but I had her dewormed anyway because she had not been previously. She got a clean bill of health, no fleas. I feel bad when I read the other posts, no one wants to have that happen but I can only speak about my experience. My dog is sweet and loving and smart. Prior to driving over one thousand miles to purchase Buttercup from FurHaven K9s I had two conversations with kennel owner Sandie Taylor yet Sandie waited until I was paying for Buttercup to inform me that it would cost me an additional five hundred dollars for full registration. The on-line ad for Buttercup stated that ACA Registration was included in the price for Buttercup and the FurHaven K9s Puppy Contract showed the additional money was applied to "FULL AKC REGISTRATION" The price Sandie had quoted me for Buttercup was nineteen-hundred dollars thus the additioanl four-hundred and fifty dollar balance would be applied to the additional cost of AKC Registration. I did not attempt to register Buttercup until she was fully inoculated and chipped. I called Sandy to arrange for an on-line AKC Registration but Sandie said she was away from the office & would get back to me. I called several more times over the followings weeks and was repeatedly put off. After speaking with Sandie's office person I made yet another appointment to reach Sandie by phone. It was during this call that Sandie told me that Buttercup's Sire is AKC Registered but her Dam is not AKC Registered. I informed Sandie that FurHaven K9s Puppy Purchase Contract showed both Sire and Dam as AKC/CKC/ACA Registered. Sandie responded that only the bold letters were true. But that was also inaccurate as Sandie had just told me that Buttercup's Sire was AKC Registered and the AKC letters beside the Sire's name are not in bold letters on my FurHaven Puppy Contract. Additionally the contract showed I paid three-hundred and fifty dollars for the "Full AKC Registration" when in fact I paid four-hundred and fifty. The puppy purchase price was nineteen-hundred dollars and the total amount I paid was twenty-three hundred and fifty dollars. When I told Sandie I expected a refund she accused me of threatening her and hung up. I have made several attempts to resolve this issue.
