I stopped by AAMCO near my house on the way back and got a ballpark "top of the head" type estimate. Took a few days for me to arrange things. When I called back they said I could bring it that same day! They only kept my vehicle 2-3 days which I thought was amazing! I expected to be riding my bike for at least a week. I also had feared a much worse estimate! When I picked it up, they told me they had found some other badly worn parts and had replaced those at cost, no labour charge. Vehicle was clean and everything working properly when I picked it up. Due to the worn parts discovered, they did not rebuild my trans but put in a different rebuilt. Van is running fine now. No problems and they made the whole stressful process a breeze! Very relieved I found this shop! Couldn't be happier with the timeframe, service, price, and resulting vehicle performance.

Russ was an amazing help to us. We were driving from Texas back home to Florida (my 6 kids and…read morepregnant wife) in our e350. As we made the trek from I20 towards I10 our powertrain light and then check engine light came on. We stopped at Autozone and got it checked...which led to me calling Russ at Ranco Transmission upon a recommendation from one of the workers there. Russ was a lifesaver. He treated as if we were his family in that situation. He carefully listened to the symptoms and issues, carefully worked through what the problem could be and tried to give us the best advice he could in our situation. His racks were full of vehicles being worked on at the moment, but he ended up having us come to his shop anyway. He outfitted us with one of his professional OBD readers so that we could monitor the transmission temps while we drove all the way home.... and if necessary clear codes to keep it from staying in "limp" mode (after having, of course, verified with the details of our situation that he thought it was safe to do so to "get us home"). He got us on the road, and then called a couple hours later at closing time to see how we were making out. Given how things had functioned he encouraged us with his expert experience that things seemed good to make the rest of the trip. We drove through the night and made it safely back home. He called again the next day to make sure that we had indeed made the rest of the trip safely. He did all of this without billing us anything and trusting us to mail him back his OBD reader when convenient! (Yes, I did mail it back.) Russ and Ranco Transmission were indeed good Samaritans to us. They helped us out in our time of need with their expert wisdom and guidance in our cross country travels. If I lived in the area they would definitely be our recommendation to all our family, extended family, and church family for transmission or other automotive work. Ten stars. Used them to put a new transmission in. After a year and a half, took it back because of some issue…read morewith the transmission while under warranty. They said no issues. It stripped a gear. It was just outside the warranty and they tell me I need a new transmission. This is kind of fishy. My wife went to pick up the truck because we decided to wait till my son finished school to put one in. The person working was rude and barely gave my wife the key. Told her the truck was in the back and she discovered it was in the mud. They apparently found it funny to send her back there to get it instead of bringing the truck out where she can get into it. Not good business practice and makes them less trustworthy on this issue. I plan on having the transmission rebuilt or getting a new one. I will not be using Ranco. Customer service and trustworthiness goes a long way. If this is a single employee doing this, I suggest the owner or supervisor put him through training.

My husband and I were traveling from Houma, LA to Champaign, IL to spend the holidays with our family. This particular event was very special to us, since it was the first time in six years that all of our family would be together in one place for Christmas. We had spent the night at a local hotel on Dec 22nd, we rose the following day and after loading our luggage, placed the vehicle in drive, however the transmission would not engage. After turning off the vehicle, and restarting it, we were able to drive to your shop. Where we met Bob Rogers. My husband explained the problem we were experiencing, but Bob went right to work. He quickly ran a diagnostic and then took the vehicle for a test drive. The prognosis was pretty grim. The transmission needed to be replaced. But Bob assured us that if he could locate the necessary parts that he could make the repairs. You found a transmission for us, and put two men to begin the repairs. A short time later, you offered us the loan of your truck, in order for us to grab a bite to eat. We had arrived at 8:00 am on Dec 23rd, and left your shop at 2:00 pm that same day. We consider what you did for us a "Christmas miracle"! We have shared our story now with countless friends and family. Their response has mirrored our own. We cannot say thank you enough for the fantastic customer service, and immediate response to our travel needs. We did arrive in time to share Christmas Eve, enjoying the hugs and smiles of each member of our family! After reading the two reviews on here, I felt we were rolling the dice on whether or not to use…read morethis company. We live in Vicksburg. However, the bad review seem to reflect that maybe "the boss was a way so the cats (employees) played". We also asked a couple of friends. They too recommended ATS. So we went to see them last week. The owner said bring it in Monday as we will not get to it this week. We took it in this passed Monday. Told him to call us before any work was done. He did. He said the transmission needed to be rebuilt. We hoped he wasn't "milking" us. Our SUV would run, but had problems getting into 2nd and 3rd. We picked it up today (Friday). It was $1650 + tax. It runs like a charm. He told us all that they did to it, and what they found. Very glad we went to them. They really did do an excellant job. FYI NOTE: One of the friends said he took his truck in to them. They found that all they needed to do was change the fluid and filter to fix his. So they did. I don't think they will cheat you.

From March to August, given multiple excuses on why it wasn't ready including waiting on part, wrong part, part put on wrong, part broken while putting it in, and so on. Finally, they called to tell me to pick it up, yet it was still doing the same thing when I dropped it off. Left it back with them for another month and they started giving me the run around again saying they haven't had time to start working on it. Took it to another shop and had it diagnosed and was told it needed to be completely rebuilt. Like what? Paid the deposit and 2 weeks later picked up my vehcile. It's now running like it was when I first drove it off the lot. I feel like they only told me the vehicle was ready because that would put the full balance of money in their hands, knowing the work was not completed. Very shady practices there.
