I brought my Subaru in for an AT OIL TEMP light that was flashing on the dash board. I've never had any problems with the transmission, and even with the light on the car was driving fine. When I called the next day, Patsy Furr, told me that the final drive in my transmission was "bone dry," that she had no idea how it happened, and that because it was completely empty of fluid, the entire transmission would need to be replaced and would be "extremely expensive." When I asked for a ballpark price (as I'm unfamiliar with how much these repairs typically cost), she told me I was stupid, must be deaf, obviously couldn't think, and that I should listen better before I open my mouth, and yelled at me that it would be $10,000 to repair. She then promptly hung up the phone. Following that exchange, coupled with having never observed any fluid leaking in my driveway or garage, I decided to get a second opinion. I had the car towed to a more reputable mechanic someone else recommended to me. Upon receiving it, the new mechanic was told by the tow truck driver what Furr Transmission had diagnosed the problem to be. When they checked, they reported that both fluid reservoirs were completely full, that the fluid was clean, and that the true problem laid in the solenoid having gone bad, which they learned from reading the code for the check engine light. They stated that the final drive was completely fine, and they couldn't see any visible leak like what was described. Furthermore, they stated that replacing the transmission would only be a temporary fix, because the larger issue was that the fuel gaskets were going bad, and that replacing the transmission would not resolve the problem. Furr Transmission, and especially Patsy Furr, are rude, unprofessional, and untrustworthy. When someone is trusting you to perform a diagnostic that could lead to $8,000 in repairs, that customer deserves at least a modicum of respect. I have never been treated by a service provider as disrespectfully and condescendingly as I was by Patsy Furr. I would never recommend this shop, who failed to even run an engine code before demanding thousands of dollars and lied about what they found in the transmission, to my worst enemy. And I'll be sure to inform everyone I interact with who has a transmission issue to stay as far away as possible from Furr Transmission, their inadequate staff, and their excessively rude and disrespectful owner. Go to any other mechanic's shop if you value your vehicle. If you've have been given a diagnostic by Furr Transmission, get a second opinion before turning your vehicle over to them. Otherwise you're risking unnecessary repairs and future problems that could have been addressed the first time around before they become catastrophic. read more

I had my truck worked at furr transmissio, i got my truck out the shop and the drive next day my drive shaft fell out. I had no problems with my driveshaft only needed a gear changed. they are unprofessional, amd don't take accountability for what they messed up. will never come back, worst Business ever. read more

Patsy is very very rude and unprofessional. I discussed a repair that initially cost about $800 at about 4:00p one evening. She called me back and told me that my transmission needed to be replaced and would cost $4500-$4800. I told her let me check a couple things and I would call her back. I called her at 10:00A the very next day and was told that she had taken my truck off her rack put the old part back in and to come pick up my truck and to never come back there again. I have always used Furr Transmission because they are family owned and reliable. Mr. Furr knows his "stuff"!! He is very knowable and goes out of his way to help someone. He will tell you what is actually needed and not try to find something else wrong with your vehicle. Mrs. Furr usually answers the phone and she is one that prices everything. She always gives you a reasonable price and doesn't go over that amount that she promised. Rebuilt transmission is 12,000miles or12 months- I really trust them with my vehicles and trust that they will tell me EXACTLY what's wrong with my vehicles. I highly recommend Furr Transmission!!!!! I called them very late in the day, around 5 pm, and I was afraid that I would be out of luck, but they answered the phone, and said that they were open until 6 everyday. Replaced a clutch in my Mustang. They said the previous shop had not correctly installed the previous clutch so they put a new one in. The one that they installed failed after 6 months. When I returned I was told that I didn't know how to drive a standard transmission. I've driven a stick for over 35 years and put 230,000 miles on this car. I came to the shop with my transmission overheating. I asked if the cooler could be blocked. Was told they would hook up their diagnostic meter. Mr Furr hooked it up and scribbled notes for about 10 minutes. He carried the paper in and gave it to Mrs Furr. She immediately told me that my transmission had major failure and I was lucky to get there. Was told they could rebuild mine for 2350.00. I questioned if there was a possibility that the cooler could be checked and was told absolutely not it. Long story short- I took my vehicle to radiator shop and asked them to remove the radiator and clean the transmission cooler. They called and told me they found lots of debris and the cooler was totally blocked. They cleaned it and everything worked perfect. That's 18 months ago. You be the judge. I have used this company before and had problems with them and vowed I would never use them again. Unfortunately I purchased a vehicle from Kosciusko Super Center that used this business and I was told the work was guaranteed for one year. 6 weeks later the transmission stopped working and Patsy was unwilling to honor the guarantee.
