I especially loved how the staff were patient with my excessive Q&A prior to bringing, Sir Winston in . With Winston, our experience has been staff making the mistake of assuming he is either a Siberian husky, therefore the mishandling or fear from his size begins. Planet Pet Spa, had him scheduled first thing in the morning, so he would experience minimal activity to ensure he could ease into his FIRST experience. My main focus was to have Sir Winston, deshedded, shampooed and dried. Not much, but with a 120 lb who can be reactive, I had anticipated this to be challenging. My biggest concern was the staff being able to handle my him when he didn't want to move (as he generally will sit down in protest if he doesn't want to go). Our groomer, Nazarene, at drop off was not even fazed by Winston's size. Which only reassured me that I had placed Winston in good hands. Upon picking Winston up, he was in good spirits and seemed to have had a good experience. I struggled with looking for a big dog groomer, and I'm so thankful that we found Planet Pet Spa and Nazarene. I highly recommend Planet Pet Spa and Nazarene, if you have a giant breed. Marissa arrived promptly within the time slot chosen. Our dog, Kahlua, spent a little over an hour in the mobile van getting groomed. After he was done, he looked like an entirely different dog! I asked them to take some of the length off the hair and some of the bulk out (they are double coated). What I got back was a dog that had essentially been shaved down to about an inch from head to toe, all except his tail which is still fluffy. It looks horrid. I would expect that a groomer would give a collie a collie style silhouette cut, not shave the dog all over. Unfortunately you can't put the hair back. By the way, this disaster cost me 81.00, and I am pretty sure they didn't even do a shed out brushing after his bath. Worst groomer experience I have had. When I arrived today, I was not told that Vicky would not be grooming my dog due to her fall. I asked for my Pom's hair to be left longer so as not to look shaven or cut extremely short. I paid and gave my tip before seeing my dog, and I immediately regretted it. My dog's hair was not cut in a straight line, and he was not groomed to my request. I take two of my gals every other month for summer trims, they have sensitive bellies so I always request they not be shaved to avoid razor burn. The last place I was taking them would only follow this request half the time but I have not had a single issue with GDG. They also follow little instructions like leaving a poof at the end of their tails like a lion's or trimming a little mohawk on one of them. The owners are super sweet and very caring, juggling two little dogs can be tricky but they always offer assistance getting them out to my car during pickup. Be sure to call and schedule an appointment though, the can be booked pretty far in advance.

I love that they take their time and take into consideration any disability concern you may have for your pet (I.e. My Maltese has luxating patellas and requires careful care around her legs. Every time I pick her up, she is as happy as she can be. I can tell that she feels as good as she looks. In times before, she would be shaking and distraught for hours after I picked her up. After mentioning something to the vet, they informed me it may be the groomers. Now that I've found Good Dog Grooming- I know they were right! This couple really does care and it shows!
