There are tons of Japanese restaurants scattered nearby. I came here because I was pressured by hangry individuals. We all know how scary hangry people get. As someone who frequents some of the best places for omakase and sushi in NYC, I can safely say this is just your average neighborhood place. Fun for drinks and maybe a good first date spot, but like I said, super expensive for just "okay" food. But try it out and support a neighborhood restaurant. Today we came in for dinner and were more impressed. We went with the prefix menu of four courses for 25 dollars. My wife had the crab bisque, sushi roll, and salmon. I went with the salad, sushi roll, and rib eye. We were both impressed with the portion size and flavors. The portion size is perfect to leave you feeling full but not stuffed. The flavors are on point and everything had delicious seasonings. We ended the dinner with the fried bananas and red bean ice cream. The included wine was good but nothing amazing. We did look over the cocktail menu and saw many drinks that we will be back to try. They have an extensive saka menu; we opted for the house saka and agreed it was perfect pairing with our dinner choices. For drinks, I tried their coconut mojito and a ginger saketini. The coconut mojito was very fresh and delicious. Their sushi is fresh and their entrees are delicious. I especially liked the sea bass and their mushroom risotto. Having risotto on a menu at a Japanese restaurant is new to me so I had to try it. I've come to this restaurant many of times, but I have to agree with recent reviews that express concerns about the quality of service, food, and drinks are deteriorating. There were definitely concerns about the super small portions during my visit this evening (i.e. I know the restaurant does small servings but the braised beef with crispy mashed potatoes was underwhelming). Aside from this, we ordered a pitcher of sangria that DID NOT INCLUDE ANY FRUIT! Sangria w/o fruit? They simply threw some apple chunks in our glasses before pouring the wine into our cups. If I could give this place zero stars I would the customer services was overall crap. The drinks took 40 mins and wasn't good at all overly sour and wateried down. I knew it was a red flag watching the bartender mix a drink they clearly arent hiring professional and so does the guy behind there, there both slow and the mixture just isn't right. But let's get to the food The sushi at this sushi restaurant was lackluster. It made very little impression at all, apart from my strong sense that there ought to have been less of it. A sushi restaurant without good sushi is certainly an issue, between the rancid taste and the off putting texture it was just bad. The steak was even worse like you'd better have something in the fridge at home, because the likelihood of you joining the Clean Plate Club here is as good as Omarosa Manigault Newman getting invited to a Christmas party at the White House. The initial flavor was bland, quickly followed by a fetid, ammonia-like tang. It was an aroma that recalled room-temperature hamburger meat from a grocer that lost power. I felt my eyes water up as I chewed. I tried to swallow. I felt my entire GI tract prepare to purge. It's very astounding how a place could have such amazing potential yet hire a chef who manages to ruine the kitchen and that there customer service is that bad. It's very unfortunate this place could be mesmerizing with a real experience to carve in stone and outstanding with the potentials it has from location, view, finishing and decoration. I hope management takes a corrective turn to elevate this restaurant/bar into a better place. Came here for lunar New Year dinner with my family on a Sunday night. We made reservations and the table was ready for us when we arrived. The ambiance was nice but something that really bothered me was that the restaurant was dark but the lights above your table is white colored and really bright. The huge contrast was bothering me in the beginning of dinner. We had 7 people so we were able to share a whole bunch of food. The food was just okay. Not a lot of things stuck out to me. One of the only things that stuck out to me was the out of control roll. They also baby yellow tail that night so used that for yellowtail jalapeno appetizer. It was a nice little change. The live scallop was extremely disappointing. I've had live scallop many times in the past and absolutely love it. The sweetness was mediocre. But the most disappointing part is that it was not sliced properly. The slices were uneven and they were not clean cuts. Additionally the salmon tar tar isn't really a tar tar -- it's chunks of salmon. Dessert was good. Probably my favorite part. I wouldn't choose to come here again because nothing was really worth it to have again. read more

Althought the ambience in Fushimi bayridge is nice, i can't say the same for the customer service. This restaurant was highy recommended by a friend but turned out to be a complete disappointment. I arrived at 9pm placed a couple of orders for appetizer's that came out rather quickly which was great. I ordered my enteree and desert around 10pm. When the entree came (lamb chops and mashed potatoes) not only was my chops bloody and undercooked. They literally smeared a scoop of mashed potatoes on the plate and tried to serve it to me as a meal!!! Nooooooo thank you I was dissapointed but looking foward to my dessert. But unfortunately my waiter came to me and stated the kitchen was closed! How the hell do you close a kitchen when you still have patrons in the restaurant?? That makes no sense! And to top it off the gentleman that does the valet parking came in the restaurant gave me my keys and stated he was going home, and asked for a tip! The food was delicious and the service was excellent. We ordered hot sake, edamame, and pork gyozo appetizer to start. David helped us to get the food out quick. The main course was the rib eye and chicken teriyaki platters, which tasted so good! Along the way, Ming took over and really elevated our experience. First thing I noticed when I was seated towards the back was the raw fish smell, I was immediately turned off but they kindly reseated up towards the front. I will say the sushi was decent, I've had better but this wasn't toooo bad, but the udon soup had NO flavor. I even add soy sauce and still nothing. The lychee martini was below average as well, and that's my favorite drink! The service is very nice at the very least and that's always a plus. I would say go to the location in Williamsburg. We had the crab avocado salad, mummy roll, shrimp tapas, and a California roll with fish on top. We enjoyed the food and the service was great. Chi was our waiter - he greeted us with wipes to wash our hands and was very attentive for our duration. The service is wonderful! I'd come back for the service alone. Since it was our first time there we asked for his suggestions when ordering. He gave us great suggestions. All of the food was delicious!
