Im not sure what was better--the food or the customer service! The staff was friendly and knew the menu inside and out, recommending the Kani Salads, which was absolutely delicious--fresh, crisp, and perfectly balanced. Everything from start to finish was impressive. Highly recommend this restaurant! Very family friendly and I will definitely be returning

We are visiting from San Diego and decided to check this place out for lunch -- just a 3 block walk from where we are staying. The chicken teriyaki and yakisoba lunch options were delicious, filling and super-reasonable in price. We ordered the yakisoba with wild shrimp, which was excellent quality and cooked just right. We tend to be very critical but this place checked all the boxes. Comfortable low key atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff, an excellent meal and a great value. We will be back.

My boyfriend and I love to get the lunch specials from here! They are affordable and delicious. He has so many favorite dishes here including the teriyaki chicken lunch special and the jake roll. The teriyaki chicken is delicious! Usually I'm not a fan of white meat chicken, but they make it so good and it's not dry at all! I also like to mix the sauce with white rice. I like to do the two roll lunch special and get a classic California roll and shrimp tempura roll. The food is always consistently good and the lunch prices are very fair.

I was craving some sushi on a Saturday night, so I decided to come to this Japanese restaurant. I started out with a sake bomb, which is beer mixed with sake. This was a cool concept. I was with my girlfriend and her friend, so we all ordered different things, so we could each try them. The beef teriyaki tasted great. The sauce used worked well. I ordered a few different sushi rolls. I must admit the sushi rolls were very fresh, even for late at night. My favorites were the shrimp tempura and lobster speciality. They were both worth the extra money, as they were excellent. Overall, I was very impressed with the food at this location and would come back to try other menu items out.

Osaka on ave U is SUPER CHEAP with food! It's pretty expensive for what you get. I barely got any fish and lots of rice.I'm very disappointed with my meal. I don't recommend this place unless you want no fish and a ton of rice.

My grandparents who live in the area always order from here when we want to add sushi to one of our elaborate feasts. I've also dined-in on several occasions over the past years. It's a super casual no-frills sushi spot but the food is good and the fish is always fresh. Prices are good, it's around the corner, basically it's a solid neighborhood restaurant that's doing something right since my family continues to return!

Where to begin? I grew up in Brooklyn. Tried sushi for the first time in Brooklyn back when I was 16 and making $4.75 an hour (when that was minimum wage) and ordered a random piece of negri off of the menu at a hibachi place and thought the ginger was smoked salmon oops. A few years later I tried Osaka and learned that sushi in maki form was good. I discovered the eel roll, the crunchy spicy tuna roll, etc. etc. And then I moved away from Brooklyn and hadn't stepped into Osaka for oh about ten years.... Today I live in Hawaii where fresh fish is plentiful and well lets just say even in the dives that serve sashimi, they wouldn't dream of serving some of the things I was served here today. My father who is not an adventurous sushi eater and I came here for lunch. He ordered three rolls a spicy tuna roll, a tempura fluke or flounder roll and a thai chicken roll, and I ordered the sashimi lunch special. We both decided on the salad versus miso soup to go with our meals. The salads were your typical ginger salad, iceberg lettuce, shredded carrot and cucumber. My father's rolls were about six pieces each and he advised that his tuna and tempura rolls were tasty and his chicken roll was bland, but really I will not fault the restaurant on this because anyone who orders chicken in a sushi roll deserves tasteless imho. Now onto my sashimi plate. It was nicely presented on a plate of shredded raddish, however the slices of fish were rather thick and not cut thin like most sashimi that I am used to. The sashimi plate came with salmon, tuna, two white fishes I was not able to identify and IMITATION CRAB MEAT. The two white fish and the salmon were also not the freshest in taste or best in flavor. I lived in Ohio for three years where I also ate sushi and sashimi on a regular basis so despite living in Hawaii now I know that I'm not just spoiled by the fresh fish I have access to at this time and this in particular was not a good meal. Thankfully I'm just visiting and don't have to look for another sushi place to find to make a regular place to eat, but I will NOT be going back here during this visit or any other in the future.

They have various party trays which include combinations of rolls, sushi, and sashimi. Party trays also come with miso soup. They have an excellent variety of rolls to choose from. If your party tray comes with regular rolls or special rolls, you can choose the ones that you want. They also have lunch specials until 4 PM every day. My favorite roll here is their spicy salmon which I think they make the best out of any sushi restaurant. Many people also order their oysters, either raw or baked, as an appetizer. Both are delicious. Service: Service is wonderful here. The place is run by a husband and wife who are friendly and very attentive. Ambiance: The restaurant does many takeout orders, but they do have a very small dining space with about three tables. Tables can be combined for a larger party, but the restaurant can probably hold 12 people at the most. Overall, I would recommend this restaurant whether you do takeout or dine in.

There're a lot of various Asian fusion restaurants that serve sushi in the Sheepshead Bay area but…read moremost of them sell affordable but low quality sushi made of frozen, not fresh fish and other cheap ingredients so despite large quantity of such places, it's really difficult to find one that would offer delicious, first rate sushi and seafood products. Hayashi opened up many years ago and still seem to maintain a great reputation by serving delectable sushi made out of premium quality ingredients and other staple Japanese and Asian dishes such as hibachi, pad thai, donburi-delicious Japanese rice bowl dish consisting of either fish or meat, various veggies, steamed together and served with savory sauces. My personal favorite is Unagi don-steamed white seasoned rice topped with grilled fillets of eel covered by a sweetened soy based sauce and garnished with Japanese style pickled vegetables that compliment the sweet, slightly smoky flavor of the fish and add an interesting crunchy texture to the whole dish. Anyways tonight we ordered Sushi Pizza and it was true flavor and taste explosion-perfect combination of grilled eel, avocado, masago, cream cheese served on a scrumptious, crispy pancake and covered with a few different sauces. 10 out of 10-delicious, filling, portion big enough to share and very satisfying. Spicy Salmon tartar definitely didn't disappoint as it was made with the very fresh chopped salmon, mixed with an amazing spicy mayo type of sauce and addition of masago caviar plus quail egg perfectly married all the flavors and textures-10 out of 10, spectacular, definitely will order again. Hayashi salad had a combo of 4 different salads in 1-kani, spicy tuna, fried salmon skin and a seaweed, was served on the bed of avocado and overall tasted great except for 1 minus-mediocre quality of a fried salmon skin which wasn't consistent, some pieces were deliciously crunchy and very tasty while others were overly dry and practically impossible to chew- 7 out of 10, they definitely need to work on improving the quality of salmon skins. Finally we wanted to try a Hibachi style noodles and it was great-yummy, not oily or greasy, full of that unique hibachi flavor, had perfect veggie to noodles ratio and was generously sized. Overall very satisfying dinner experience, fabulous raw fish and seafood dishes, delicious noodles, definitely recommend Hayashi to everyone as they have a vast menu which would satisfy any craving or dietary preference.
