Im not sure what was better--the food or the customer service! The staff was friendly and knew the menu inside and out, recommending the Kani Salads, which was absolutely delicious--fresh, crisp, and perfectly balanced. Everything from start to finish was impressive. Highly recommend this restaurant! Very family friendly and I will definitely be returning

I normally walk by this place but i was extremely shocked on how good it is. I usually order from ginza and wanted to give this place a try, the spicy tuna is a bit different compared to other places, i think they skimp a bit but was good still. philadelphia roll didn't quite taste like smoked salmon, the crunchy scallop roll was decent and the shrimp tempura roll was fresh which was great! Their lunch menu is a different as most places have set combos but they just give a free soup or salad with a $10 or above order (so quite isn't a lunch special but not bad)

We are visiting from San Diego and decided to check this place out for lunch -- just a 3 block walk from where we are staying. The chicken teriyaki and yakisoba lunch options were delicious, filling and super-reasonable in price. We ordered the yakisoba with wild shrimp, which was excellent quality and cooked just right. We tend to be very critical but this place checked all the boxes. Comfortable low key atmosphere, attentive and friendly staff, an excellent meal and a great value. We will be back.

My boyfriend and I love to get the lunch specials from here! They are affordable and delicious. He has so many favorite dishes here including the teriyaki chicken lunch special and the jake roll. The teriyaki chicken is delicious! Usually I'm not a fan of white meat chicken, but they make it so good and it's not dry at all! I also like to mix the sauce with white rice. I like to do the two roll lunch special and get a classic California roll and shrimp tempura roll. The food is always consistently good and the lunch prices are very fair.

I was craving some sushi on a Saturday night, so I decided to come to this Japanese restaurant. I started out with a sake bomb, which is beer mixed with sake. This was a cool concept. I was with my girlfriend and her friend, so we all ordered different things, so we could each try them. The beef teriyaki tasted great. The sauce used worked well. I ordered a few different sushi rolls. I must admit the sushi rolls were very fresh, even for late at night. My favorites were the shrimp tempura and lobster speciality. They were both worth the extra money, as they were excellent. Overall, I was very impressed with the food at this location and would come back to try other menu items out.

My grandparents who live in the area always order from here when we want to add sushi to one of our elaborate feasts. I've also dined-in on several occasions over the past years. It's a super casual no-frills sushi spot but the food is good and the fish is always fresh. Prices are good, it's around the corner, basically it's a solid neighborhood restaurant that's doing something right since my family continues to return!

Osaka on ave U is SUPER CHEAP with food! It's pretty expensive for what you get. I barely got any fish and lots of rice.I'm very disappointed with my meal. I don't recommend this place unless you want no fish and a ton of rice.

Food is either greasy or flavorless and portions are ridiculously small for what you pay. Won't order from them again

The menu is pretty diverse with various appetizers, sushi, and also ramen/curry so your standard izakaya fare. One of my favorite dishes here has been the chirashi. The fish was very fresh and it's pretty affordable. I've only ever been here in groups of two and I probably would recommend it for smaller groups because the space itself is small and most of the tables are two-seaters if I recall correctly.

It's been open for a few years, so clearly it has a good enough formula to keep the neighborhood happy. I have been here once before, but returned last week after dining several meals at Tomoni in Jackson Heights. Apparently, the owners are friends. Nonetheless, I needed to make the comparison. After my first few bites of their Tora Don and Chirashi Don, it was clear that this restaurant has the better quality seafood. Each slice of sashimi had vibrant colors, clean taste, and the proper texture. Tomoni is not bad, but fall slightly short of this caliber. With that said, there is an even farther gap between their rice quality. Though Tora is very good, Tomoni produces nearly perfect texture and acidity for my taste buds. Other than the best omakase restaurants in NYC, Tomoni shines as one of the best versions of sushi rice in the five boroughs. Service is good and space is cute. If I have a craving for some decent Japanese food, I would drive 20 minutes here for a meal anytime.

While wandering through Bed-Stuy on a weekday evening, my husband and I decided to try out this new…read moresushi spot. It wasn't terrible--but I had a lot of mixed feelings. Food: 3/5 I'm a huge sushi fan, so I was excited when I saw a deluxe sashimi set on the menu. Unfortunately, it didn't quite hit the mark. The scallop was thinly sliced and lacked the rich texture I was hoping for. The salmon and other cuts were decent, but short and oddly shaped--chunky yet small, which made the whole presentation feel a bit off for something labeled deluxe. We also tried to branch out and ordered the short rib entree. For $21, it was shockingly small--definitely a single-person portion, not sharable. I added extra ikura to a salmon donburi bowl for $2, but it was barely a teaspoon's worth--just enough to say it was there. Oddly, the salmon slices in that bowl were thinner than the sashimi we had just eaten, and overall, it left me still hungry even after sharing a maki roll. Lastly, my husband ordered a green salad, which somehow took the entire meal service to arrive. When it finally came, it was just plain romaine, cucumbers, radish, and dressing. For a dinner that clocked in at over $150 (after tip), we definitely left underwhelmed. Service: 3/5 This part wasn't bad, just confusing. We were seated quickly, but the pacing of the meal was strange. Our seaweed salad and soups came out promptly, but the green salad came last, after the hot dishes and nearly after my husband finished eating. Also, a small thing--but when I'm paying $16 for four oysters, I want to know what kind they are. The menu just said "West Coast oysters," but our server couldn't tell us the variety or origin. Not a huge deal, but it added to a general lack of polish that didn't quite match the pricing. I don't think I'd return. For the price, there are better sushi options in Brooklyn with higher quality, better portions, and clearer service. Still, I appreciate new spots opening up in the neighborhood, and I'm always happy to try something new. Hopefully they refine the menu and service with time.

We started with the salmon belly carpaccio which I'd say isn't really a carpaccio because the salmon isn't sliced as thinly as you'd expect. But! I mention that just to set expectations. Nomenclature aside, it's an excellent appetizer. Served in a truffle and ponzu sauce, the salmon is lightly seared which yields two different textures to the fish. It practically melts in your mouth. Highly recommend this dish. For my entree I went with the trio don, which is 6 pieces of sashimi served over your choice of plain or sushi rice (sushi rice for me). The fish was fresh and flavorful. The portion was perfect for me. My boyfriend ordered a yellowtail roll and enjoyed that as well. We also shared a carafe of the cold house sake. I'd definitely come back and try more items on the menu. It's great for sharing and trying new dishes. The staff was friendly and attentive, and the prices were very reasonable.
