This place has really gone downhill, mostly because they don't seem to value good customer service. Often when you come in, you have to walk past a mop bucket, and the strong smell of bleach is everywhere. The sushi is usually quite good, so if you can get past some of the server interactions, it can be worthwhile. When the server comes to your table, he/she often starts with "what do you want?" There is no time wasted on pleasantries. We started getting takeout instead, but on our most recent pick up, the girl behind the counter informed us, "oh, we never put in your order," as she laughed with her friend. No eye contact. Both appeared to be wearing their pajamas. Again, the sushi here is really good. But wow, they could really improve on their training of wait staff and their attitude toward the customer. read more

Great service and staff has fantastic timing. Took my son for an early dinner for the first time and had a great time. They offer hibachi tables or regular seating or you can sit at the sushi bar. My son had the tuna rolls and enjoyed them very much. I had the seaweed salad miso soup and crunch roll combo. The crunch roll combo was a bit greasy for me and I will not order again felt like it was tons of bread crumbs "crunch" instead of fish. The miso soup was very good as wells as the seaweed salad. The desserts were sub par. Bought from a large bakery etc and frozen and made to look pretty on a plate. Food, is AMAZING!! Drinks are VERY strong and Delicious!!! The quality of fish is AMAZING still. Most places after they have a solid customer base, the quality goes down the drain. But not Fusion 25! The special rolls are ALL amazing. The ONLY ones I will not eat are the ones eel, and anything cooked. REAL sushi is not cooked. California rolls sweet potato rolls avocado rolls that's not sushi, It's what my niece orders and she loves it. If you want your kid to try sushi for the first time, this is definitely the place to bring them. Service, is unparalleled. Any mistakes are fixed and given for free and they bring what you did order. They never forget any you, wish I have been to places where they have brought me someone else's order, they were never get our food. I have walked out of other places before because of it. I have spoken to managers and owners about it before and it's never helped. But DEFINITELY NOT Fusion 25. They are AMAZING!! Ambiance, SO ERFECT!! First time ever writing a review so others don't suffer through the same horrible experience. The first sign was I received a dead flat draft beer and had to send it back for a bottle. We ordered grilled squid as an appetizer. it was not edible Could not even cut the rings with the knife. The Negamaki was OK and had three cold broccoli florettes on it for what purpose I don't know. The spicy peanut sauce chicken was neither spicy nor had any hint of peanut flavor in it. It was actually sweet. The vegetables were fibrous unpeeled asparagus stalks, and raw carrots, plus the dish was served ice cold. The sushi roll was OK but didn't match the description on the menu. I couldn't even bother to send the dishes back because the majority of the staff was on their cell phones the whole evening just ignoring customers. Initially was intrigued that they had hibachi type dining, chef cooked in front of guests, but we chose the quieter side (bar area) for ordering from a regular menu vs. the extra chef entertainment. Overall, I'd rate my experience here a 3+. Food variety and presentation a 3.5, food taste and quality a 3.5; unfortunately I felt their service was just OK (barely a smile from our server), and ambience unremarkable, in fact didn't even light our table candle. Perhaps it was just an off night, but I wasn't wowed. Ordered Seaweed salad to start, presentation and taste very good. Then tried a few 'rolls' to share, Spider Roll and Rainbow roll were very good, and a Sweetie roll...Spicy crunch tuna wrapped with fresh Tuna, however I didn't find this as satisfying or tender as the other sushi tried. Main entree tried Pad Thai with Chicken and a Crispy Noodle dish with Shrimp and veggies. Both tasted flavorful, were filling and plenty to share family style. The food was great and ambiance as well. But my goodness, customer service skills needs to be improved badly. Not a welcome, or what would you like to order. Instead we got: "what you want?", slamming plates on our table, drawers and plates, not even asking if we are done before removing our plates. Warning: LONG honest review. I wanted desperately to like this place but despite at least 6 visits, every single time the service has been awful. Ambiance is great, trendy and plenty of comfortable seating. Nice hibachi areas. Clean. Plenty of parking. Food has been fairly consistent. At times the shrimp is not as fresh (very fishy tasting) or we have been served entrees that are not hot but overall great flavors and plenty of Chinese and sushi options. Problem has been consistently the SERVICE (for dinner and lunch). There are few wait staff and the wait staff even bartend at times. They are running frantically and each and every time I have been there, even if you have a reservation, it seems like there is complete chaos and lack of organization. Customers are always made to wait and rarely greeted by hostess. Went for New Years Eve dinner last night and one server was trying to take care of at least 7 tables of 2-6 people, plus bartend. Very poor staffing. Last night, We were seated and no one even approached our table with waters or asked about drink/apps for 20 minutes. And we weren't the only ones. Again, this has also happened on a regular day (not a holiday). Also, we were given paper cups and plastic utensils because the dishes were dirty. I mean, it's New Years Eve, staff appropriately!!! Servers are impolite, curt, taking orders in a frantic rush and food not coming to the table for everyone at the same time, plus forgetting orders altogether. Sadly, other customers were having to get up and ask where their food was or why no one has come to the table to take their order. Another customer kept asking for the check and finally had to get up and follow the waitress to get it. One gentleman even got up and looked through the kitchen door window to see if there was food being made as the wait was unusually long for the amount of people that they had. It was quite a show. Lately, at night, when I have driven by, I wondered why there are so few people there anymore and after last night, I now know why. Fusion 25 is one of my favorite sushi spots around! The sushi is always fresh and delicious! As a sushi lover I've tried a lot of spots in Connecticut but fusion 25 is definitely one of the bests and one of my favorites. The dumplings were so good as well definitely recommend. This was an occasional date night spot for the fiancé and I when we still lived in Newtown. We returned for the first time in years this Christmas Eve for hibachi with his family. While Toro will always have my heart and I'll always maintain that it's just overall better, I've never had a problem with the food, drinks or atmosphere at Fusion 25. The hibachi rice, noodles & shrimp were delicious, although they messed up my order; it was supposed to be shrimp and lobster. The hibachi fanfare here is a bit more toned down than you'd get at, like, Ichiro... you get some utensil-chopping, saki, the onion volcano thing, but none of it is implemented with quite the same enthusiasm. The third time is not a charm. We ate at this restaurant 3 times. The first two times, the food was good. Still, the third time we ordered specialty rolls, we were very disappointed; they were green and pink on the outside when rolls typically are wrapped with rice or seaweed paper. They were not pleasing to the eye or the palate but were covered in sauce and just not tasty. We also ordered drinks and they were ok. Then we asked for dessert, and the waitress said it would be out soon, 10 minutes late, she told the kitchen is very business, 10 minutes later she said, they don't have any cheesecake.. we left! read more

We were in town visiting family. This is what my niece wanted. This place has both regular seating and Hibachi seating. We did not have a reservation and was able to get seated right away. I do recommend making a reservation since the place was packed by the time we left. Every Hibachi tables were filled. There was a lot of birthday celebration. The chef was very entertaining and engaging. He did all the typical "acts." Everyone in our party got the Hibachi except one person. The one person just wanted a plate of sauteed shrimp and nothing else. They were very accommodating and asked if it's ok that they just cook that in the kitchen. The shrimp came out perfectly cooked. On to the Hibachi, all meal comes with the white rice and noodles. You can upgrade the white rice for fried rice. I chose the upgrade; but should have stuck with white rice. The fried rice was just ok. I had better elsewhere. I got the scallops and that was a great choice. The scallops were perfectly cooked and seasoned. The mixed vegetables was also cooked and seasoned well. Overall a good experience. I know we are just visiting but I do know my 14-year niece had visited this establishment on multiple occasions and loves the place. read more

I purposely joined yelp tonight to share my worst dining experience ever... My date and I were practically rushed out of the restaurant while dealing with a rude waitress the entire night. (I believe her name was Serena) She was mad when we asked to see a drink menu (as soon as we sat down) She rudely asked what we were having as soon as the drinks were served. (Almost as if there was no time to spare) She threw takeout boxes on our table when we weren't even halfway through our meal. We planned to get dessert and some more drinks but the entire vibe was "get in here and leave as soon as you're finished". The restaurant was empty too.... Rude and unprofessional. This was Fusion 25's Chicken Pad Thai. It was awful! They used angel hair instead of fettuccine, there was no sauce, very little chicken & vegetables. The flavor was weird. I don't recommend this dish at all. I've seen a bit of a decline in the quality of food and don't believe it's COVID related as I've been there a few times since COVID, and have just recently noticed the changes. Wouldn't advise ordering takeout from this place. Over the phone they told me my order would be ready in 20 minutes. I arrived 30 minutes later to pickup. I gave my name and was told it would be a while. I emphasized I was in a bit of a hurry because I had my 3 year old with me. After waiting about five minutes, they asked me to pay for my order. I said I'd wait until it was ready before paying. After another few minutes, they told me it would be ready in 10-15 minutes and would give me 15% discount if I paid up front. I said sure, but I'll get refunded if it's not out in 15, right? They said no, along with an expression as if I'd asked a very stupid question. With that I said nevermind, I'll pay when my food is ready. They told me that's not how we do things here, and insisted I pay up front. I argued this whole situation defeats the purpose of takeout. This is when one of the girls at the counter started breaking down about how busy they were and was even kind enough to lecture me about how the world doesn't revolve around me. That was when I walked out. So yeah, if you order take out over the phone, dont believe it when they tell you it'll be ready in whatever alloted time they say. They dont start making it until after you pay upon arrival. The one girl's rudeness was more than enough to prevent me from ever giving this place my business again. 5 years I've been their customer. Incredible sushi, hibachi, and menu entrees. Mouth-watering food, I recommend the paradise roll (shrimp tempura fried banana wrapped in soy paper with an incredible sauce on top) as well as the crispy orange beef! Service is excellent, and the manager Vivi is so incredibly nice and accommodating. Bar is fun to hang out in, regulars are extremely sweet. Outside seating is very nice during the summer and is dog friendly!! I've loved sushi for a long time - and this is good sushi. The staff is always super courteous and constantly taking care of my experience without being overbearing. I've probably been here 2 dozen times over the last 18 months, and love coming in with other family members and sitting at the sushi bar. Sushi ninja Chef Jimmy and Chef Ling are always enjoyable to chat with at the sushi bar. I always ask for "chef's choice" and don't believe that I've had the same creation twice in all of my times there. Chef Jimmy is VERY creative and I'm attaching some pictures as examples. The absolute worst hibachi experience I have ever had. We sat at 9:30 for an 8 o'clock reservation. The Hibachi chef did not start cooking until 10:15 and rushed through the meal preparation with almost no talking or entertainment which is part of the reason you go to hibachi. He basically tossed the prepared food on the plates spilling some off the plates and some in the drinks. To top it off, they brought over a big bucket filled with liquid, used oil, raw egg, meat drizzle and other garbage from all the grills and proceeded to clean them out in front of us while we were still eating. It was disgusting and looked like the chum bucket from the movie Jaws. I understand it was New Year's Eve and they were busy, but we were the last table, no one else was waiting so there was no need to rush us so blatantly. A good restaurant would've offered a round of drinks to make up for the hour and a half wait. Don't waste your time. read more

He was interfering in our conversations and told me "I'm not listening to you.." and referred to my husband as "the boss". Male chauvinistic and rude. Inappropriate I'm front of my daughters. This used to be our favourite Asian restaurant. My last review was 5 stars and this one is 1. That pretty much sums up the current state of affairs here. You will see others giving it high ratings as well but obviously they have not visited the place recently. We started noticing the decline after the very popular manager (Bo) left about a year or so ago. Even though the ambiance was gone, we kept going because the food was still the same. Service was not as good but it wasn't bad. Tonight we asked for hibachi and sat there for almost 20 minutes without a server asking us for our drink and appetizer order. We would have gladly waited for the table to fill up if someone came by and took our drink order. The servers ignored us and served only the tables with the hibachi cooks. We finally just gave up and left. We went to the other Hibachi place in Newtown where service and food was "on point". I think we are finally done with Fusion 25 and will be looking to become regulars at a different sushi restaurant. read more

Fusion 25 deserves five stars just for the interior design of the building, what an amazing use or space! It's very much new-age Asian food, complete with a waitress who won't help you at all and barely speaks english. We asked to see a sushi menu and she said no. Unable to get a full menu, we asked for the chef's special roll and when it arrived we had no idea what it was. It tasted like fluke and lemon, and I've attached pictures here. She wouldn't tell us what it was and my party assumed she was the daughter of the owner or something. We almost didn't tip. Otherwise, the fish was okay but I've put off a review of Fusion 25 for a long time to avoid hurting their grand opening with a mediocre review, I hope they do well especially since their hibachi looks great and their sushi was good.
