We were greeted at the entrance by the kindest gentleman, who warmly thanked us for coming. Such a small gesture, but it set the tone for the evening. At the box office, there was a tiny ticket snafu, but the staff handled it quickly and got us squared away in no time. Before the show, we took a few minutes to check out the Titanic artifact display. I always love seeing pieces of history and how they're woven into the experience. Fun Fact: The bestie and I dressed up as the Titanic and the Iceberg for Halloween one year. I attached the picture for giggles. Also, be it known... I was the Iceberg, and I WAS THERE FIRST!!! Naturally, we headed to the bar to grab a drink and some water. The line moved fast, which we appreciated. Our first drink choice, the Cutwater Strawberry Margarita, sounded promising but turned out to be more of a shipwreck than a smooth sail. After a few sips, we tossed it overboard and went back for something else. No Cutwaters were harmed in the making of our evening, just given a respectful burial at sea. As for the show itself, it was fantastic. The props, the staging, the talent, everything drew me in. The story was told beautifully, and I found myself totally captivated. Omaha has some serious talent, and if you haven't been to the Omaha Community Playhouse yet, I highly recommend it. They're celebrating their 100th year, and from what I've seen, they've got a century's worth of magic to be proud of.

Driving up, staff are very helpful in directing you where to park for the movie that you choose. They have two screens and I believe loud enough speakers that you won't need to bring anything. The concession stand has a lot of sweet and savory options at very affordable prices. The concession stand is also cafeteria style. It's just an overall high vibe place. So many nostalgia pieces to make you feel like you are in an old school drive in is a nice touch. Plenty of games to play as you wait for your movie to start also.

We entered right at 6:30, when doors open, and got our perfect spot! The concession stand, wow, the prices are so cheap, they have so much variety for dinner, treats, desserts, etc! All the employees in every department were so nice and helpful! Our movie kicked off at 9:20pm, we did bring our own radio, but their sound was helpful if we hadn't! We did bring lawn chairs and put them outside our car!

So, unfortunately, I am having to update my review of AMC Council Bluffs to a 4 star ranking now…read more They recently closed their Dolby and IMAX theaters, I assume to renovate and fix things with those theaters - but ever since they opened the IMAX back up, it has been terrible. The IMAX screen has faint vertical lines all through it and they are very evident when a bright/white scene is playing. (The Fortress of Solitude scene in Superman was unwatchable.) I will say the Dolby theater is still top notch. Great screen and so loud your seat shakes, if you're into that style of sound (I am). AMC Council Bluffs also does have way better snacks than their Omaha Westroads counterpart, so I appreciate that. But I don't go to the movies for the overpriced snacks. It's unfortunate that the IMAX is seemingly in disrepair or needs to be cleaned or something, because we loved that particular theater so much and would travel to CB just for that. But for now, we will see IMAX movies at the Westroads AMC and only head over to Council Bluffs if there is a Dolby screening we want to check out.

I ordered my tickets online, got scanned in with a smile, and everything ran smoother than Cher's computerized closet. No stress, no drama. We hit up concessions for the essentials: sodas, popcorn, and pretzel bites. Sure, the total felt like we were financing a small car, but it's the movie experience. You just lean in and pray your credit card doesn't judge you. Huge shoutout to the FreeStyle Coke machines. The real MVP. I love having 500 drink options and still going with a Coke Zero like a creature of habit. I regret nothing. The theater was clean, well-kept, and the Sunday 4 pm crowd was super chill. The movie started promptly at 4, which was nice. Punctuality is a virtue, people. I even brought a sweater, expecting the usual movie theater meat locker, but it was actually a comfortable temp. No icicles, no frostbite, just good vibes. All in all, a totally fun night. This place never disappoints. I'll definitely be back--assuming the movie studios get it together and release something worth leaving the house for. Until then, I'm outie.

Before the play started, the lobby was filled with a vibrant crowd that I assume were regular theater goers in the Omaha area. Many appeared to know each other and there was a real sense of community that was exciting to step into, if only for an evening. The theater itself is small yet cozy. I went to a Friday show, so the house was packed. Seats are first come, first served. So keep that in mind if you decide to use the restroom or arrive later after seating opens up. The play and cast was amazing. I heard from the regulars that this theater focuses on modern and cutting edge plays, which was in line with my experience. I paid $45 for my ticket, which I found to be reasonable compared to what I can expect to pay for theater in other cities around the country. Overall, I had a great experience! I would definitely recommend checking out their programming and coming in to support the live arts.

The play was about abortion and we still laugh about it after 30 years lol. But, about the theater - it's really a special place, there is a bar with a nice selection of canned drinks (alcohol and not) and cocktails. I think they also have cookies. We saw a play last night, it was 80 minutes, no intermission, one-man performance. Absolutely amazing - The Night Larry Kramer Kissed Me. This is something that you would see in The City, you know, edgy and sophisticated and deep, but also so funny. There is only ONE problem with the Blue Barn. It's small, and the performances WILL sell out, so you need to get tickets before they have all been sold.

Luckily that is where they were headed, as I had no idea. Lastly, although the theater is beautiful, the armrests need refurbishment. My seat's armrests (as well as the rest of my party's seats) had several nailheads sticking up, so that your sweater or other delicate fabric would get snagged repeatedly. Other than these small issues, we enjoyed our time together as a family.

Pretty beautiful old theatre in Omaha just south of the downtown, which is absolutely gorgeous. One of my favourite places in the area to catch a show although the outdoor venue which is brand-new a little bit to the NW is actually better. This is a lovely old theatre and I love performing in these kinds of places, I haven't performed here yet unfortunately... although I have been in this place and I love watching shows or walking around inside old venues like this, which I have done here.

This review is more about the venue than the show, as the show was a one-night event. Reviewing that would be useless. Seats: There's not really a bad seat in the house. A small balcony overlooks roughly 15 rows of seats. The venue is fairly intimate with the stage. Seats are comfortable and there is a good amount of legroom. Acoustics: Our event did not use amplification or microphones. The sound in the 4th row was pretty weak when the violinists began playing. Acoustics were not great, but passable. Ambiance: The interior and much of the foyer is a modern attempt to recreate a Roman or Greek amphitheater. It's interesting. Check in: There's no real ticket window, so people tend to gaggle toward whatever tables are set up for check in. Food/drink: There's no real concession setup. The team at the theater had coolers for drinks. We ordered a beer, Coke, and water for $15. The beer was Coors, the Coke was warm, the water was a mini water and warm. Pretty poorly executed. Policy: They posts signs requiring law abiding citizens give up their rights at the door. (The policy does not impact criminals.) Thus, the venue makes you a sitting duck.

Parking is plentiful and it's easy to find. Plenty of movies to view on big screens, seated comfortably. Even the lower seats have a good view. Refreshments now have a single line, which seems easier and more fair to all to me. They have all the treats we appreciate, including Rockstar sodas for me. They still have the lounge, which we've enjoyed previously. Pricy, but convenient and well served. Still one of my favorites!

This place has changed a lot since it used to be 20 grand, but it's a pretty typical movie theater experience. The main difference was the seating. There's a leather-like covering over all the chairs in the theater, and they recline. This makes for a much more comfortable viewing experience. I haven't been to a lot of movies in the last several years, so maybe this is standard now, but it was a nice change. The only negative was that we had to switch seats three times. The first time we sat down my husband and I noticed that the armrest between us was broken. Not just a little loose, but like it was barely hanging on with a thread. So we picked another pair of seats, but before we sat down, we noticed that they both looked really sticky, like someone had wiped some sticky candy residue on them or something. Finally, we picked another pair of seats that were clean, but one of the recliners was really jerky and didn't work very well. Eventually, we found some seats that were clean and were in good working order, and were able to enjoy the movie. The restroom wasn't dirty, but it definitely has a lot of wear and tear. I guess I would say that about the whole facility... It could use some updating and TLC. Everything just seems dated and very well used.
